JJ noticed Sam driving away as she pulled into the driveway behind Penelope's orange caddy. Frowning, she wondered why he had been there and suddenly she felt a sense of urgency. Quickly she got out of the car and headed toward her friend's apartment. She sighed in relief when Penelope opened the door and let her in.

"What was Sam doing here?"

"I'm not really sure."

JJ noticed the flowers.

"Are those from him?"

Penelope nodded and headed for the kitchen. As she poured coffee for JJ and hot water on her tea bags for herself, the two sat at the table.

"So, what happened? Did you know he was coming?"

"Nothing happened and no I didn't know he was coming." Penelope answered.

"I know what we need." JJ began.

"What?"

"We need a spa day!"

"I'm not feeling up to the spa today, JJ."

"Garcie, you've got to snap out of it! If it's over between you and Derek, then..."

"I'm pregnant!"

"I'm sorry, it sounded like you said you were pregnant." JJ responded.

"I'm pregnant, JJ. I took three home pregnancy tests this morning they all came back positive!"

JJ's jaw dropped and tears began to flow from Penelope's eyes.

"What am I going to do JJ? What am I going to do?"

Kendall's Burgers and Things –

Tamara had managed to lighten the mood a bit and had even gotten a chuckle out of Derek. She felt confident in taking the conversation in a different direction.

"Wow, you seem to be in a better mood, Mr. Morgan."

Derek smiled and took a sip from his drink before responding.

"Thank you. I didn't think it was possible to pull me out of my funk, but I have to admit it, you did it."

"Well, I'm glad. You were looking pretty down when I walked in the door."

Derek's smile vanished and he began to fiddle with the last few fries on his plate. Tamara placed her hand on his, getting his attention.

"Listen Derek, I know this may be a bit premature, but I have to ask." She began.

"Ask away."

"Do you ever wonder what things would have been like if we had become more than friends?"

"Yeah, I guess, maybe a few times but..."

"I know you are dealing with your breakup with Penelope, and it may be too soon but..."

"Tamara..."

"Please, let me finish."

Derek nodded and waited for her to finish.

"Derek, you are an amazing man and any woman who breaks up with you is a fool. I have to be honest with you now."

"Don't..."

"I value you as a friend. When I lost my brother in such a brutal way, I thought it would destroy me. Then there you were, and you walked me through the darkest days of my life."

"I was just doing my job, Tamara."

"You went way beyond the call of duty for me, and I owe you my sanity, my life even."

"That was a rough period of my life too. I'd been placed in an impossible situation with my job and my personal life was in a weird space and you being a friend and not asking anything in return gave me a safe place to land so I thank you for that Tamara."

"I have a confession and I need to tell you something. I have feelings for you that go beyond our friendship."

"Tamara..."

"Please let me finish before I lose my nerve."

"Okay."

"I care deeply for you, Derek and I want you in my life on a permanent basis. I want to be the woman you come home to at night. I'll fight for you; I'll fight for us!"

"Tamara I'm flattered, and any man would be crazy not to see you as the woman of his dreams, but..."

"I'm not the woman of your dreams, is that what you're saying Derek?"

"Tamara, please. I love Penelope with all my heart and I'm not ready to give up on her."

"Come on Derek, do you honestly think Penelope will take you back after everything that's happened?"

"It looks bad but I'm going to do everything in my power to get her back. I didn't cheat on Penelope, but someone is trying hard to make it look like I did. So yes, if it takes my dying breath, I'm going to win her back."

Tamara saw the determination in his eyes. She had a tough fight ahead if she was going to win his heart and make him forget about Penelope, but Tamara wasn't afraid of a challenge; she'd been fighting for what she wanted all her life.

"Your dying breath huh Derek? Well, it just might cost just that because if I can't have you, no one can!"

Home of Tamara Barnes – Evening

Things had not gone as she had hoped. Derek was still under that woman's spell and for the life of her, Tamara didn't understand why? The fact that he had given her a second glance was a mystery, but Tamara was going to do what she had to do to get what she wanted.

The doorbell rang, and Tamara rushed over to answer it. She had no delusions that it could be Derek with a change of heart. She'd seen the truth in his face, he loved Penelope, period.

Sam stepped inside and passed Tamara if she felt half as bad as he did then they both had work to do.

"It looks like things didn't go so well with your surprise drive-by visit?" Tamara asked.

"She damn near threw me out of her apartment. The flowers, her favorite flowers didn't' even phase her!"

Tamara handed him a drink and led him to the couch where they both sat sulking at their defeat.

"What are we going to do next?" She asked him.

Sam pulled the key from his pocket and smiled at her. Confused she returned the smile waiting for him to fill her in.

Flashback...

Sam had seen the key a thousand times before but never had it seemed to taunt him as it did now. He'd spent the evening with Penelope at her apartment, hopeful that things would turn around for them. Their relationship had hit a rough patch with his constant whining about her friendship with Derek.

Penelope had had enough and told him as much. In fact, she'd told him that if he continued with the constant accusations, she would have re-think her relationship with him. Sam panicked and decided to take matters into his own hands. He glanced at the key on her keychain, it was the largest of her keys and the only one that was a worn bronze color. This was the key to Derek Morgan's home.

Sam apologized profusely, which seemed to defuse things a bit. Penelope smiled in relief and offered him a drink to which he accepted. As she excused herself, he slipped the key from her key chain and shoved it in his pocket. The key felt heavy, manly, an anvil that seemed to weigh down his relationship with Penelope anchoring it in place and preventing it from moving ahead. He wasn't sure what he had planned to do with the key or why he took it at the time. Perhaps, it was his way of posing an inconvenience to her and her best friend, as she called him.

It was two weeks before Sam had found an opportunity and a use for the key; it had played an important part in getting Penelope back and he still remembered the giddiness that overcame him when he let himself into Derek's house and planted the little pink panties next to Derek's bed. The thought of beating the super-agent was a feeling that was hard to describe, but he was happy, happier than he'd been in a long time.

Flashback ends.

Home of Penelope Garcia –

Penelope's stomach had settled down enough to try eating some soup. She opened the drawer that held her utensils and was caught off guard by the small wooden box. She'd almost forgotten about it. The sight of it made her smile as she pulled it out and opened it. She remembered the day Derek had given it to her. Absentmindedly, she ran her finger around the heart-shaped edges fighting to hold back the tears.

Flashback...

"Don't be mad handsome." She pleaded.

"I'm beginning to wonder if you want a key to my place." He pretended to pout.

"Of course, I want a key to your place. I guess it would help if I put it on the ring with the rest of my keys, right?"

"Yes, Baby Girl, that would be a good idea." He replied pulling her against his body with one hand then, reaching into his pocket pulling a small heart-shaped box from his pocket with the other hand.

Pulling out of his embrace, she opened the box and began to giggle at the sight of a dozen or so shiny bronze keys.

"What?" She began.

"Penelope Garcia this box symbolizes that you own my heart and I'd give you the key to it every day if I have to, to remind you that I'll love you forever and a day."

"Oh, Hot Stuff!"

Stopping her from saying another word, Derek kissed her passionately putting an exclamation point on his intentions and feelings for her.

Flashback ends.

"Oh Hot Stuff, where did things go wrong?"
