A/N: Blame this on guilt for not having written anything in days and finally deciding to do it at 1:30 in the morning. Just a short, probably very implausible thing that I had to do.

Sam woke with a smile, already anticipating what the new day would throw at her. Every day in Atlantis seemed to bring new challenges and surprises, but after having lived there for nearly a year now, she was beginning to get used to it. Still, no matter how "used to it" you were, you could never anticipate what was going to happen. There were always surprises, and they weren't always pleasant.

But she didn't want to think about that now. For the moment, she just wanted to lie here and enjoy the comfort of her warm bed and the cheerful sight of the early morning sun streaming in through the window. Needing someone to share it with, she turned to the man who lay beside her. Sam smiled at his still-sleeping form, thinking that he had always looked the same when he slept, ever since she first saw it the morning after their wedding only a few short months ago.

Her smile returned as she thought back. Neither she nor anyone she knew would ever have imaged that the two of them would end up as a couple. For years they had shared a mutual dislike for each other, and had basically avoided each other aside from the times they were forced to work together. Sure, he'd had a crush on her, she knew that, but she hadn't returned the feelings. Sam had found him an irritating, selfish, arrogant...and ultimately lovable man. Somehow, having come to Atlantis to help the personnel there with a project and spending more and more time with him, she had found that he wasn't so bad after all. After a while, their animosity towards one another had just vanished completely. They had started spending time together outside of work and eventually fallen in love. The two of them were married shortly after Sam's request to be permanently transferred to Atlantis was granted.

Lowering her face to his ear, she whispered, "Wake up, sleepyhead. Rise and shine."

A moment later, his eyes opened, slightly confused and clouded with sleep for a moment, then clearing. "Morning," he said softly.

"Morning, love," she answered, giving him a kiss.

He smiled and sat up in the bed, stretching his arms over his head and yawning as he did so. "So, how are Sam and little Elizabeth Grace today?" he asked, reaching a hand over to pat her swollen belly.

Sam grinned as she moved her hand over his. "Fine." Her stomach grumbled and they shared a laugh. "We could use some food though."

A second later, his body echoed the sound and they giggled again. "You're right, I'm starving, too. Let's get dressed and head down to the commissary to get some breakfast."

"Sounds good." Her husband flipped back the blankets and went to find some clothes as Sam sat there for another moment, reflecting. It had been hard leaving SG-1 and Earth behind, but she didn't regret it. Being here with the man she loved, with their first little one about to enter the world, that was what made her happy and she wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

A/N: So, what did you think? I'm assuming you all knew who the guy was, right? You see, I'm trying to master that thing people do where they're pretty vague, but drop just enough hints that you know what's going on. Do you think I did it well? The only way I'll know what you think is if you drop me a review. Thanks for reading.
