Gail was a nervous wreck all Sunday. When she told her mother that she was indeed bringing Holly, her mother simply stated to not be late. She didn't grill Gail on who Holly was, or what she was to Gail and that could mean only two things. First, that her mother already knew and didn't find it important enough to question. Or second, her mother didn't know and Gail was going to have to decide how she truly wanted to introduce Holly.

Unfortunately, Gail didn't know how she was supposed to proceed.

A knock on her door brought Gail out of her thoughts. She swung the door open to see the most beautiful sight before her. Holly's long black coat hung open revealing a short, fitted royal blue dress. Her hair fell down in soft waves over her shoulders.

"Wow, you look amazing" Gail gushed as she took her time to look Holly up and down.

Holly felt the blush creep over her cheeks as Gail continued to oggle her. In the past, she would have been upset if her date had looked at her like that, but the way Gail was looking at her seemed different. She wasn't just looking, she was worshiping.

"Any chance I could convince you to just stay home tonight?" Gail asked with a wiggle of her eyebrow. She reached forward, grabbing Holly's hand and pulling her into the house. "You are breath-taking," she whistled as she allowed her eyes to wander up and down again.

"Nice try, Gail," Holly said, as she grabbed Gail's coat off the hook and tossed it at her. "I didn't spend two hours getting ready to just have you take it all off again."

"What if we compromise?" Gail asked, slipping on her coat. "There's no need to take everything off."

"Do I even want to know what you mean?" Holly laughed. "Need I remind you that we are just about to spend the evening with your mother?"

"Ugh, fine. Gee. Way to ruin the moment," Gail huffed as she walked past Holly and out the door, leaving the doctor laughing in the foyer.

"What the heck is that?" Gail exclaimed, pointing at the vehicle in the driveway.

"That's my truck. What do you think it is?" Holly chuckled as she came up beside the officer.

"Since when do you drive a classic pick up truck?" Gail said as she walked around the classic 1970's Chevrolet pick-up truck. It was sky blue with a classic white stripe. Gail ran her fingers along the chrome as she circled around it.

"So do you like it?" Holly said, coming up to stand beside the truck. She wrapped her coat close against herself as she leaned on the hood. She absolutely loved how much Gail was enjoying the vehicle. The minute Gail's mouth dropped wide open, she knew she made the right choice to bring it.

"Yeah, I do, but again, since when do you drive a truck, especially this one?" Gail said as she stopped in front of Holly.

"Well, it was my grandfather's. He gifted it to me when I graduated from medical school. I usually keep it in storage, but thought it would be nice to pick you up in it tonight," Holly smiled. "Do you approve?"

"I…I…damn it! You are one hot woman! How did I get so lucky to have you in my life?" Gail said as she wrapped her arms around Holly's waist, pulling her forward off the truck and into a close embrace.

Holly's breath caught in her throat as she felt Gail press against her. "Now, I am wondering if you like me only for my truck," Holly teased. She ran her hands up and down Gail's arms that were still holding her tight.

"If I said no, would you let me drive it?" Gail smiled innocently. She then took a step back to look at the truck again. Holly instantly missed the closeness.

"Hmm…" was Holly's response as she watched Gail walk around the truck once more. "Okay, you drive, but you better be gentle with my baby."

"Yes!" Gail exclaimed as she pumped her fist in the air causing Holly to laugh out loud at Gail's enthusiastic, yet childish, response. "I promise, I will treat her like my own," Gail smiled as Holly tossed her the keys. With a huge smile, Gail jumped into the driver's seat and started up the truck. She leaned back and sighed at the deep sound of the engine. "This is amazing."

"I'm glad you are enjoying it. Does it make going to your mother's a little easier?" Holly asked, buckling up her seatbelt.

"What? No, this is a nice perk. Going to dinner with you is my highlight. You make everything better," Gail smiled looking directly at Holly.

Holly merely blushed in response. She was thrilled to know that Gail was excited about the truck, but her heart melted when she heard Gail's words. She sat there quietly as Gail drove them to her parent's house.

Holly's mouth dropped open when Gail pulled into the driveway of a massive white house. She thought her sister had a ridiculously huge house, but this one was absolutely gigantic. "This is your family home?" Holly gawked.

"Keep it together, Lunchbox. This place might be big, but it was never big enough to hide from my mother's scorn," Gail smirked as she parked the truck behind Steve's car. She was relieved to know that her brother was already here. She turned to look at Holly. "Look, there is still time to get away. I'm totally okay if you want to just drop me off."

Holly reached across and grabbed Gail's hand. "If I leave you now, who is going to help me out of this dress later?" she winked.

Gail blushed furiously.

"Come on, let's get this done," Holly said, turning and stepping out of the vehicle.

Gail took a deep breath, calming herself before getting out and moving around to stand beside Holly. "You are amazing," she said as she reached over and took hold of Holly's hand, interlocking their fingers. She leaned in and gave her a quick kiss on the lips before leading her towards the front door.

Gail breathed a sigh of relief when Steve opened the door. "Hey, little sister, just in time."

"Hey, at least we made it." Gail replied, stepping into the house.

"True. How many did you miss? Was it four in a row? That has got to be some sort of record," he teased.

"I try my best," Gail said with a little bow. "No Traci tonight?" she asked, scanning the foyer.

"No, she has a mother/son date night with Leo," Steve smiled. "Hang on, whose truck is that?" Steve asked, looking past the two ladies to the vehicle in the driveway.

"That would be mine," Holly said meekly, holding up her hand.

"No way! That is awesome. Can I take a closer look?"

"Um…sure," Holly said with a shrug, not really sure what the right answer should be.

Just then, Gail's mom and dad came into the foyer. Gail swallowed hard, nervousness taking over. She never really brought anyone over to meet the parents before, and she definitely never brought a girl.

"Gail, darling, you made it," said her father, coming up and giving Gail a hug. "And who is this lovely lady?" he asked as he turned to shake Holly's hand.

"Dad, Mom, this is my girlfriend, Dr. Holly Stewart," Gail said with no hesitation as a sudden sense of peace and pride washed over her. "Holly, these are my parents, Elaine and Bill."

Holly beamed when she heard the words Gail spoke and with such confidence. She dared not look at Gail as she knew she would probably burst out crying if she did because she was just so happy. It wasn't something they had discussed earlier, and Holly would have been okay if she was introduced simply as a friend, but it made her bubble over with glee to know that Gail had no hesitation to introduce her as her girlfriend.

"It is lovely to meet you," Gail's mother said, reaching out to shake Holly's hand.

"Thank you for the invitation," Holly smiled.

"Well, we are glad you could make it. Gail tells us that you haven't been feeling well this week," Elaine stated.

"Yes, I, unfortunately, had a 24-hour bug, but thanks to Gail, I feel 100% again."

"Hey, Dad, have you seen Holly's truck?" Steve interjected.

"No, I haven't," he replied, craning his neck to look over his daughter. He let out a slow whistle when he spotted the pick-up. "Wow, that's yours?"

"Yes, sir," Holly smiled.

"Come on, I was just going to get a closer look," Steve said, grabbing his coat and heading out the door.

"Right behind you, son," Bill answered, grabbing his coat and following Steve out towards the vehicle.

"Um…I'm just going to go unlock it for them," Holly said, waving her keys. "I'll be right back." She quickly followed the men out the door.

"She's lovely," Elaine said softly to her daughter. She noticed how Gail's eyes followed the doctor out and the smile that spread across her face as she watched Holly show off the truck.

"She really is," Gail replied. She turned to look at her mother. "Are you…um…are you okay that I am dating Holly?"

Elaine looked at her daughter for a moment. She had to admit that they had a very rocky relationship, and she often pushed Gail to achieve more which created a huge strain on them. She had failed Gail as a mother on many different occasions. She knew she needed to tread lightly. "Are you happy?"

"I've never been happier," Gail admitted without hesitation.

"Then I am completely okay with you dating Holly," she smiled before turning to finish up dinner.

Gail stood there a moment, her heart beating a mile a minute, a weight lifted off her shoulders. She turned to see Holly laughing with Steve and her dad. They had the hood open on the truck and Holly was explaining something to them. They both looked very impressed. Holly looked up to see Gail standing in the open door. She gave her a little wave.

Gail waved back. "Get in here guys, it's time for dinner" she yelled. She stood there waiting for Holly as the men slowly pulled themselves away from the truck.

"That is one nice truck," Bill said to Holly as they came into the house.

"Thank you, sir. I felt very blessed to get it from my grandfather," she smiled.

"You better treat her right," Bill said, turning and pointing directly at Gail. "I have no problem disowning you for Holly and that truck."

Gail fiend hurt, "You would trade me for the truck?"

"Not just the truck, I like your girl too," her dad winked before heading into the kitchen, followed by Steve who smirked at Gail.

Gail turned to look at Holly. "Here, let me take your coat," she said. "Have I told you how amazing you are?"

"I'm pretty sure you have, but you are more than welcome to say it again," Holly smiled, handing Gail her coat.

"Well, you are, and I am glad you are here," she smiled.

"Thank you for inviting me," Holly smiled back.

"And you look stunning in this dress," Gail said, looking Holly up and down again, clearly enjoying everything before her.

"Thank you. I'm glad you like it," Holly blushed.

"Come, let's get this over and done with." She then reached out and grabbed Holly's hand, leading her into the dining room.
