Holly had lied to Gail when she said she had to meet her sister the next day. She didn't have any plans at all, but she still showed up bright and early at her sister's house that morning. She brought coffee and wore the biggest smile. Susan instantly knew something was wrong, and pulled Holly into the deepest hug without a word.

Holly sobbed against her sister's shoulder.

"Hey, hey, it's okay," Susan spoke softly as she rubbed reassuring circles on Holly's back. She wasn't sure what brought her sister here, but she could easily tell by the red eyes and strained smiles that it wasn't a happy visit. She knew that once Holly had a chance to let all the tears out and calmed down a little that Holly would fill her in on everything. They stood there a long while before moving into the living room.

"Sweetie, what happened?" Susan asked in her kindest voice.

Holly blew her nose on a tissue and took a few deep breaths before turning to look at Susan. "I asked Gail to move in with me, and she said no." Holly let the tears fall back down her cheeks.

"Oh honey," was Susan's response before pulling her back into a hug.

Meanwhile, Gail tried calling Holly again throughout the morning, but Holly never picked up. She sent several text messages as the day went on, but got no response. She was very tempted to just show up at Susan's place, but she knew it was best to give her some time. Instead, she sat moping on the couch, flipping randomly through channels on the tv for the better part of the day.

"Hey, what has gotten you so down?" Chris asked as he passed by Gail on his way to the kitchen.

"Oh nothing," Gail replied, not bothering to look up at him.

"Okay, well I'm going to order some Chinese food for tonight. Do you want anything in particular?" Chris asked.

"Um…nothing for me, thanks," Gail said as she continued to scroll through the channels.

"Are you sick?!" Chris exclaimed, stopping dead in his tracks.

"What?" Gail asked, finally looking up at Chris.

"Are you sick?" he asked again.

"Who's sick?" Dov asked, coming into the room.

"Gail's sick," Chris answered as a matter of fact.

"What? I'm not sick," Gail said, totally confused about what they were actually talking about.

"Are you sure? Because I just said I was grabbing Chinese food for dinner and you didn't ask me to order one of everything off the menu," Chris stated.

"Sounds like you are sick to me," Dov added in his two cents.

"Well no one asked you," Gail snapped. "I'm not sick!"

"Okay, well something must be wrong. Do you want me to call Holly?" Chris asked.

"No, don't bother," Gail sulked, slouching further down into the couch.

Chris and Dov shared a glance. "Okay, what happened?" both guys asked at the same time as they sat down on either side of Gail. Dov caringly placed his arm around her shoulders.

"What are you guys doing? Leave me alone?" Gail said, shrugging off Dov's arm.

"Come on, Gail. You have been moping on this couch all day. I haven't seen you gabbing on the phone once with Holly yet today. You even turned down Chinese food. What's going on?" Chris asked sincerely.

Gail swiveled her head between the two boys. Concern clearly etched across their faces. She suddenly couldn't keep it in anymore. "Holly asked me to move in with her, and I said no," she blurted out.

"You what?!" they both responded in unison.

"I said no," Gail shrugged. "And now she won't talk to me." She looked down at her hands, desperately trying to keep her tears at bay.

"Well that's because you are an idiot," Chris said as he stood up from the couch. "Why would you say no?"

"Yeah, you know you two are meant to be together?" Dov jumped in.

"Come on guys, leave me alone. It's none of your business, besides, I said no because everything was just going too fast," Gail admitted with a heavy sigh. She wrung her hands together.

Chris and Dov shared yet another look.

"It was just all going so fast," she repeated to herself, almost as if she was convincing herself that she said the right thing.

"Hey, that's totally okay," Dov said in a soft tone. He knew, plus everyone around knew, that Gail and Holly were meant to be together, but he also knew that Gail needed to be extra sure before jumping into relationships. She had a rocky past that ended in many heart aches.

"Yeah, that's right. If you don't feel 100% ready, then it just means you two have to wait a bit longer. It doesn't mean you don't love her or want to be in a relationship with her. It just means you need time," Chris added as he sat back down beside Gail. "That is perfectly normal and acceptable to want to take a little more time before making the next step."

Gail looked at both of the guys. She let out a deep breath. "Thanks guys. I do love her, I honestly do, but I am just not ready to move in together. What if she leaves again?"

"Well, I highly doubt that. It is easy to see that she is crazy about you," Chris said.

Gail laughed. "Yeah, I'm not so sure about that. Ever since I said we should slow things down, she's been avoiding my calls and hasn't answered one of my texts."

"But she knows that you still love her, right?" Chris asked.

"Have you even told her that you love her?" Dov jumped in, knowing that Gail was not the best at expressing her feelings for others.

"Um, well not exactly," Gail admitted.

"What? Why not? You just told us you love her," Chris chuckled at Gail's ludicracy.

"The timing hasn't been right," Gail shrugged.

"Well, I think now is the best time. How do you think Holly is feeling? You just told her that you don't want to move in with her. She might be thinking that you are having second thoughts about the relationship entirely," Dov said as a matter of fact.

"What? No! Never!" Gail exclaimed, sitting up straight.

"Did you explain that to her?" Chris asked.

"Not exactly. She didn't let me explain. She didn't really want me to explain," Gail said, trying to justify her actions, or lack thereof.

"Oh come on, Gail. Since when do you hold your tongue? You should have told her exactly what you were thinking," Dov said, standing up from the couch.

"Yeah, I'm with Dov on this one," Chris added, "you should have told her that you loved her and not moving in together didn't affect your relationship. She is probably so hurt right now."

"Gee, thanks. Don't you think I already feel bad enough?" Gail sighed. "You're not helping me feel any better."

"So do something about it. Just call her up or go and see her. Tell her exactly how you feel," Chris shrugged.

"I've tried calling her. She won't answer my calls."

"So keep trying," Chris laughed. "Since when do you just give up?"

"Grrr. I hate it when you guys are right," Gail said, standing up from the couch and grabbing her phone off of the coffee table. She dialed Holly's number yet again as she walked out into the hall.

"Oh, we know, but we love it," Chris called after her.

Gail paced the hall as the phone continued to ring. It eventually clicked over to Holly's voice mail. She didn't bother leaving a message. Instead she grabbed her coat and keys and headed out the door. She drove over to Rachel's, but unfortunately, Rachel informed her that Holly wasn't back from Susan's yet. Rachel offered for Gail to stay and wait, but Gail knew she needed to talk to Holly as soon as possible.

Instead, Gail drove over to Susan's. She rang the doorbell and then waited. She shifted nervously back and forth from one foot to the other. Eventually, the door swung open to reveal a surprised looking Susan.

"Oh, hey Gail, nice to see you again. What brings you here?"

"Um..I…um…I was hoping to talk to Holly."

"What makes you think she wants to talk to you?" Susan said, putting on her best big sister voice.

"Um…nothing, but I'm really hoping she would."

Susan looked hard at Gail for a moment, but then the smile slowly crept across her face. "Well, you are in luck. She does want to talk to you, unfortunately, she's not here. She was going to freshen up before heading over to your place. I'm surprised you haven't seen her yet. She left a few hours ago and seemed eager to see you. She must still be at Rachel's"

Gail's face went pale. "Um…how long ago did she leave?"

"I would say about three hours ago, why?"

"I was just at Rachel's. She hasn't seen her all day."

AN: Well, I have no idea where this is going. I wonder what will be next.
