Swing Swing

A young priestess hummed a cheerful tune while skipping into the forest.

With a bright smile on her face, she carefully made her way through the forest as she reached her destination.

"Inuyasha!" As she yelled his name, the hanyou turned to face the girl from the future. "You said you had a surprise for me," She smiled at him as she ran to him.

"Look Kagome,"

"A swing?" Kagome looked at the simple swing that hung from a large oak tree. Two ropes hung down from a branch and held up a rectangular piece of wood for the seat.

"Yeah, do you like it?"

"It wasn't here before..." Kagome said as she went deep into thought. "You built it?" She asked happily as her hanyou nodded.

Before long, the girl sat on the swing while her beloved stood behind her gently pushing her. When she said she would do it herself, he smiled and stepped aside.

"You're going so fast Kagome, aren't you scared?" Inuyasha asked softly.

"No," She began. "The faster you go on a swing, the more fun it is! How about you swing with me?" Kagome suggested.

"Um, no thanks." Inuyasha said as he watched her swing some more.

But soon, Inuyasha was sitting on the swing next to Kagome.

"Ahhh!" They screamed in unison.

"How is it? Isn't it fun!" Kagome exclaimed. She turned when she didn't get an answer.

The sight before her left her bewildered.

Inuyasha with his eyes clenched shut, both hands holding onto the side rope for dear life.

"Inuyasha? Inuyasha, are you okay?"

"I don't feel so good,"

"What?" Kagome immediately stopped their swinging motion with her feet and grabbed his arm. "What's wrong?" She asked, her voice laced with concern.

"I think I'm gonna..." Inuyasha almost immediately jumped off the swing and threw up not too far from the tree.

"Inuyasha!"

"...sorry." The hanyou said sheepishly as Kagome stood by him. He glared at her when she started to laugh. "Don't laugh at me!"

"Sorry! I just...never thought that the mighty half-demon Inuyasha gets...sick...after a little swing." Kagome said between giggles.

"Hey! Even if you were the most powerful person on earth - you'd be afraid of something."

"You're afraid of the swing?"

"No! That's not what I meant..." Kagome laughed again.

"Then what are you afraid of?"

"..."

"Oh come on," Kagome smirked as she pulled on his arm.

"To tell you the truth, Kagome..." He paused as he looked into her eyes. "I'm terrified about losing you."

After a small silence, the girl spoke up. "Well, I'm not afraid. Because I know you'll protect me." She smiled brightly at him. "Let's go back to the village, okay?"

Inuyasha nodded, "Alright." He took a step in the direction of the village before Kagome stopped him.

"No, I think I better help you." She offered her arm to him.

The half-demon shoved her lightly, "I'm fine." He grinned as she stumbled a little bit.

"No way, I don't want you throwing up again," She said, glaring at him.

"Fine," He said as he leaned all of his weight on the smaller girl.

"Don't! I don't have the energy to carry you!" She laughed as the hanyou walked next to her, occasionally bumping shoulders. "Stop it!" She said again, her voice still laced with laughter.

"How about I carry you back to the village then?" He began to laugh too as he scooped the girl into his arms and ran back to the village.

Kagome only smiled as she wrapped her arms tighter around his shoulders.
