Chapter One: A bit of danger
Klaus Mikaelson smirked as his twin was pacing, her hands fisting up as she was grabbing a pillow before she tossed it at his face.
"You shut it," she snarled. "Just because you haven't found someone doesn't mean that you can tease me or Elijah!" Said brother looked at her as he was sitting on the couch, wondering what she meant…
"Sister just because Elijah is oblivious to his affections does not mean anything," Klaus drawled only for Elijah to snap his neck.
"What do you know?" He asked a little dangerously. If she had read his journal then he was going to make her regret it.
"Elena Gilbert," his body was stiff. "I've seen how you've been with her." She smirked. "Unlike Nik who isn't obvious and barely watches people, I do." Her smirk turned into a grin. "You help me with my problem I'll help you with yours."
"What problem do I have?" He snarled and her grin widened, as his muscles seemed to be locked in place.
"The Salvatores-in particular Damon Salvatore," his stance was rigid. "I get rid of the arrogant ass, the path to Elena is clear."
"What are you planning?" She flicked her hair from her face.
"I'm not going to do anything…dangerous or dastardly," she said. "I'm going to make him be honest about Elena as well as his feelings towards her."
Elena was smiling as she and Jeremy were binging out on some movies that were more towards the winter season then towards the fall season they were in at the moment.
"What would you do if you saw this in real life?" Elena asked as they saw a girl tug on the Santa's beard and just seemed amazed he was the real Santa.
"I'd complain that her mother should be paying more attention and that this kid shouldn't be tugging on beards," Jeremy said as he tossed some popcorn at her. "Want some soft baked pretzels with mustard on the side?"
"Please," she said as she paused the movie and he grinned. "I love you little brother!" He laughed and as he entered the kitchen the sound of knocking on the front door made Elena stand up. Walking towards the door she was wondering who it could be when she saw Damon (who she had never allowed in her home) standing on the other side with a cocky smile.
"Mind if I decide to come in?" He asked as he looked around her.
"No," Elena told him coldly. "I want you off my property." He would have said something if a pair of feminine hands didn't twist his head to the side. The moment he fell the person behind him was Rebekah Mikaelson who seemed nervous.
"I'll toss him aside and maybe you can invite me in?" She asked. "My house has only testosterone filling it up." She groaned.
"Let me help you toss him next door," Elena said smiling. "Then we can tease Jeremy in a sibling way."
The moment that Kara and Elijah were outside of the Gilbert residence they saw Rebekah and Elena just tickling Jeremy like there was no tomorrow.
"She looks lovely," Elijah said smiling as he saw Elena tickling Jeremy with Rebekah's help. "I just wish we could be."
"You can be," Kara told him with a smile. "All you need is a little faith." Looking in the backyard of one of Elena's neighbors' she gave him a shark like grin. "There's a little bit of faith-a Salvatore." The unconscious body of Damon Salvatore was just ready for them to take. "A little bit of bleeding him dry…no vervain means a ton of compulsion."
Elijah smiled and as Kara took the body, he watched as she tossed it into her trunk before she came back to him.
"He looks cute," she added as she saw Jeremy just squirming from Elena and Rebekah's tickling. "He's precious."
The knocking on the door made Jeremy make an escape, literally running up the steps while Rebekah blinked at the door.
"Are you expecting anyone?" She asked the brunette who was her best (as well as only) female friend.
"I'm not," Elena answered and as she stood up, she made her way over to the insistent knocking before opening it. "Elijah? Kara?" Two of the three eldest Mikaelsons smiled and as Rebekah appeared, she raised an eyebrow at her big sister.
"What are you doing here?" She asked warily. Kara smiled while Elijah seemed fidgety.
"I was wondering if you wouldn't mind going out to dinner with me tonight Lovely Elena?" Elijah asked the new doppelganger. She looked surprised and her cheeks were a bright rose red color.
"I…I would love that," she stammered. She had only told two people about what was in her heart. Literally the only two people she had told and who knew about her affections (that started from trust to a bit of a crush) for the Noble Original brother who wears a suit-the two being Rebekah (who encouraged it wholeheartedly) and Jeremy (who wanted his sister happy after a bitter breakup with Matt for the second time).
Elijah smiled and leaned down to kiss her cheek, causing the blush to intensify.
"I'll pick you up tonight at seven," he whispered with a smile that made him look boyish. She smiled at him and kissed his cheek, unaware that Jenna was watching this with a curious expression and wondered what was happening. "See you then." He turned to Rebekah who was smiling at them. "Have fun sister." He walked away from them, the smile still plastered on his face while Kara giggled.
"I just wanted to make sure that you were okay," Kara said sweetly. "Do I need to tell you when you should be home?" Rebekah giggled widely.
"I know-Finn informed me," the youngest blonde Original Sister said brightly. "Now I have someone to make over! This is going to be so great!" Grabbing the brunette's arm, she pulled her out of the house and into her cherry red Maserati Convertible. "We can go to my boutique!"
Jenna was worried about what Elena had gotten herself into and as her guardian she was going to make sure that no funny business would happen.
While inside the boutique Elena had been searching for a few hours for a few outfits and found a ton.
"I don't know which dress I should wear tonight," Elena fretted and Rebekah pointed to a changing room. "I just hope that I don't look bad for the date." Rebekah smirked.
"I have a feeling that you would knock my brother's socks off with whatever you wear," Rebekah told her with a smirk. "I'll pick out some jewelry pieces for you to wear and would match with the outfits."
"I'm only getting one I thought," Elena's voice came from the changing room. "I can pay for all of these in small payments." Her job at the Grill doesn't pay very well but at least she and Caroline both have one while Bonnie just volunteers at the library and ignores everyone's questions about books.
"You can quit there and work here with me," Rebekah told her. "Finn won't mind." Said brother just walked into the area after being in the back checking over the books dealing with the money situation.
"I won't mind what?" He asked as Elena stepped out. The strapless tea length dress fit her perfectly and the blonde examined the pieces of jewelry that were picked out. "Elena? You look lovely but what is the occasion and what did my sister mean?"
"If I quit my job at the Grill can I work here?" Elena asked as she twirled around. "I also have a date with Elijah tonight."
Finn had his index finger tapping his chin.
"Sister she would want the amethyst rose shaped earrings and the bracelet in rose gold with the lapis lazuli and moonstone," he told Rebekah who grabbed the two. "Now are you sure about working here?" Elena looked conflicted. "Let me rephrase-are you happy as a server at the Grill where Matt works?"
"Not anymore," Elena whispered as the reminder of why she and Matt broke up. "Before it was great-I was with one of my best friends and everything seemed to be happy but now it seems to be just me stepping on eggshells whenever I'm near him."
"If he wanted the witch then he shouldn't have led you on," Rebekah said primly. "You deserve a man-not a little boy who doesn't know how to do anything." The scene they had walked in on while they were in Matt's apartment as they were carpooling together was horrifying to see and it still haunted Elena's dreams.
Elena was walking with Rebekah to the apartment, her fingers going through her newly cut shoulder length hair and she seemed worried. Matt had said he hated her long hair and would have preferred to have her hair to her chin or earlobes.
Elena had preferred her hair to her shoulders so she went with that length. She knew that her and Matt were going to be in an argument.
"I like your hair this way," Rebekah said as she ran a hand through her long blonde hair that had violet tips. "You look great with that haircut plus the waves."
Elena smiled as she pulled her hair into a ponytail and as the ends brushed the back of her neck the ends were dyed an amethyst purple color. As soon as Elena pushed the door open to his apartment they saw something they would never have imagined seeing.
Bonnie on Matt's lap, her body bare to the room, kissing him and as he flipped them over, he just dominated her.
Elena ran out of there and just sat in Rebekah's car, tears falling from her eyes.
She hated this day after it was great.
"I want to work here," Elena decided as she fingered the skirt of her dress. "I want to be in an environment where I'm happy and I'm not happy at the Grill." It was true that she wasn't happy there but she was enduring it.
Finn smiled at her.
"Just give me your resume before you quit your job and al," he said as Rebekah dolled Elena up. "I'll let Rebekah finish dolling you up for her preference." Rebekah was smiling and she led Elena away into the backroom where Rebekah had a full-length mirror and a thing of make-up.
"Should I go for a naturalistic look or go for an old Hollywood look?" Rebekah mused as she looked at Elena. "I'm thinking the naturalistic look and then slowly go into an old Hollywood look for later dates." She decided.
"Has he said anything about liking me in a romantic sense or is this a pity date?" Elena asked Rebekah as the blonde was putting the foundation on the brunette's cheeks.
"I know my brother and this isn't a pity date," Rebekah denied. "Kol had snooped through his journals and literally read Elijah's thoughts on you." She smirked. "Elijah doesn't know this but Kara and I do."
Klaus was smirking as a brunette was sitting on his bed, her amber brown eyes glinting as she was watching him sketch her.
"Like the view?" He asked and she smirked.
"You like yours?" She asked him as she stood up wearing his shirt. He smirked at her.
"I'm immortalizing it for my eyes," he told her before setting his pencil down. "My you do look ravishing little wolf." He went over to her and leaned down to kiss her. "My little Crescent."
She gave him a smile.
"I'm their queen and it's almost time for my transition," she reminded him. "I'm hoping that soon enough I'll be a true queen."
"You are mine," he told her as he took her hand in his, pulling her into a dance. "If the other Crescents don't see you as a true queen then know that you are my queen."
Elena was giggling as she was taking a bite of her spinach artichoke gnocchi as Elijah was telling her a hilarious story of one of his antics he ended up doing when he was a young man.
"The lake was freezing but Niklaus didn't think that I would last long," he said through a bout of laughing. "I lasted to about midnight before getting out."
"Everyone must have seen you getting out of the lake naked," she managed to giggle out. "I was dared by Caroline to do the exact same thing…and I turned it around to her doing it." She gave him a smile. "She got caught while I didn't though we were laughing about it."
He couldn't stop smiling. This was the best date he had ever been on and with the way she looked he couldn't be happier.
At a table a little ways away from them both Bonnie and Matt were watching the two on a date, smiling and being happy.
This shouldn't be happening. Elena should be with Stefan but he wanted Rebekah the moment he saw her again, Caroline didn't care about who Elena was dating and Jeremy was happy whenever Elena was.
"Could you do a spell to make this the worst date of their lives?" Matt asked. While he didn't want Elena again (he thought she was too 'corrupted' by vampires) he didn't want her to become a-to use Tyler's words-'a vampire groupie'.
"I can do whatever I want," Bonnie told him as her hubris was showing. "Should I make the food taste bitter to him or put him under a bloodlust spell?"
"Bloodlust," Matt whispered. "It'll make the people here horrified and it'll probably scare Elena."
Bonnie smirked and as she looked at Elijah's back, she was whispering something in Latin but nothing was working. Blinking, she tried again only for nothing to happen.
She closed her eyes and tried searching for her magic only to feel empty.
"My magic…" she whispered and Matt looked worried. "I can't feel it." His eyes widened. "It's gone."
"Are you sure?" He worried and she nodded. "What are we going to do now?"
Over a few tables away a familiar redheaded woman was watching the two on a date while the man across from her was eyeing her.
"What do you do for a living?" Finn asked her as a waiter came by to refill their water goblets.
"I'm a college student part time and a barista at my campus," Jenna Sommers told him. "I'm worried about Elena-well, her date with Elijah anyway." She nibbled on her lower lip. "What would happen if he gets tired of her?"
"I don't think that's the case," the elder brother said as he took a sip of water. "I've rarely seen my brother act like this with a woman. He found something that he wants and he isn't going to let her go for a long time."
She seemed nervous but it was slowly fading away. She knew that they were vampires-Elena and Jeremy had informed her on that-so she knew that the man across from her was honest.
"How long do you think they're going to be together for?" She asked him.
"If he has it his way," Finn mused, "eternity."
Jeremy was laughing as he was playing pool against Stefan and Caroline, both of them in fierce competition as Rebekah watched, her mind going back to the day she decided to be a better friend for Elena Gilbert…
The minute Elena ran out of the small apartment, tears stinging her eyes, Rebekah turned her ire onto the two.
She decided to scream, which caused them to fall to the ground and look at her in horror.
"What are you doing here?" Matt asked as Bonnie got off him and hurriedly got dressed.
"You cheating slimy asshole bastard," she shouted. "You're a worthless human and she's not good enough as a witch," her eyes were on Bonnie who was blushing in both anger and embarrassment. "I pity the both of you-the witch bitch and the asshole bastard."
Turning on her heels she stormed away.
Rebekah shook her head of the memory as Jeremy went over to her with a smile on his face.
"Wanna go up against Caroline or Stefan?" He asked. "Whichever one you take the other is going to drop me off as I have a few things to do for school work-mostly reading."
"I'll take on Stef and you can go home with Caroline," the blonde said sweetly. "Sweetest dreams sweetie."
Jeremy laughed and as he waved Caroline over, she appeared by his arm with a bright smile.
"I'll drop you off before visiting my mom," she said smiling. "I have some food for her." Lately her mother had been working overtime and coming home at random times.
The number of rabid animal attacks has been increasingly higher than normal. It worried her that other vampires are responsible for it.
Even the Mikaelsons are worried about it. None of them were doing this and according to Klaus when he was working with Liz herself he had mentioned that he had seen something like this back in the eighteen hundreds because of a witch spelling a vampire to go into a bloodlust frenzy.
"It was a horrible thing and I had to put the newborn vampire down myself," he had explained. "She had no idea why this was happening and had begged anyone to help her out. I put her down and shed a tear for her."
Now that it was happening again, everyone who knew that the supernatural was living among them was worried-especially Jenna.
Elijah smiled as he kissed Elena's cheek, listening to her beating heart.
"I had a fantastic night," she told him. "I hope that we can have more." His smile widened.
"I can't wait to take you out tomorrow night Lovely," he whispered to her cheek. "Sweet dreams."
Caroline had grinned at him and drove off. Jeremy had watched her leave and before he could do anything a blindfold went over his face and he felt drowsy…
Once he woke up he was completely in the dark though it looked like his room and he felt as though he were bound.
The softest touches due to something like a feather tickling him made him laugh and wheeze, almost coming undone after a few hours of it. Tears had leaked from his eyes from the laughter and his face was flushed due to it.
"Soon we will meet again face to face, eye to eye," the voice was muffled but familiar. "Until then sleep well little button."
Klaus smiled widely as Damon was thrashing about before he began to slash him across the face, throat and chest.
"Keep squirming child," Klaus told him. "I'm going to bleed you dry and have you spill your dirtiest little secrets because I'm a good brother to Elijah."
Damon paled dramatically and made the blood pouring out of him and coating him pop more.
