Collision 10

Tsuna looked at his mom, still in shock at what had happened. Everything seemed to be going so fast he had trouble catching up.

He had always known that his mother, despite being somewhat... lacking in her normal mental faculties has an incredible amount of protectiveness towards him. A result of a long incident back when he was still just a child, at the time when his flames were forcefully sealed. All her instincts, fast reactions, and critical thinking seemed to have activated at once during those days. All of it focused entirely on him.

It's almost like she's changed into another person. A person with a single-minded focus on his protection. Like an intense, almost obsessive-like behavior.

So this was the first time he'd really seen his mom like this, reactions all normal and even managed to be somewhat terrifying without the singular obsession.

He stood there in slight shock for a few seconds until he registered that his mom's eyes shook and looked to be glittering in tears.

He blinked his eyes rapidly, the sight jerking him back to react. He immediately hugged his mother, making her jolt a little. She looked at him for a bit as she blinked rapidly and he could see the indecisiveness in her eyes, along with disappointment and fierce protection.

He knows which ones are for him and which ones are for his father. He hugged her tightly.

He felt her tears soaking his shirt for a bit as his mom buried her head along his shoulder. He's somewhat shorter than her as he is still in middle school, but it did not lessen the feeling of her depending on him. His heart hurt knowing that at the moment, her mom probably made a very painful choice.

For him.

This was the very definite and heavyweight reason why he tried to be civil with his father despite his dislike for him.

It was for his mom. Because despite all of his father's faults, Tsuna knows that his father loves his mom and he knows that she feels the same way. In fact even more so considering she so rarely see him and his mom doesn't have any work to distract her from the loneliness she feels from his father's obscenely long absences.

His father is like his mom's direction in her life. Her orbit. That's why his father's neglect burned that extra brightly for him.

Unlike his father who has his mafia dealings to distract him plentiful from his family as, after all, his life in the underworld seems to be more important to him than them, his very own family, and him with his studies and his extracurricular activities, his mom is somewhat of a loner despite being a bubbly person.

So far, she had only seen her interact with their neighbors in a polite and cheerful manner. She seems to only have a few friends with Kyoya's mom as one of them

He shook his head to get those thoughts out of his mind. He did not want to think about other things at the moment considering the condition of his mother.

He rubbed his mom's back to comfort both of them. After a short while, his mom managed to finally pull herself together.

She pulled out of his embrace for a bit, wiped her face off her tears, gave a huge, heavy sigh before she finally looked at him with her huge smile.

Although her smile appeared to be genuine, it was a little wobbly and her eyes still held a hint of loneliness and disappointment.

Tsuna looked at his mom intensely, particularly her eyes even though she looked like she managed to settle herself.

He is already worried about his mother's mental health. What with her often different attitude about certain things ever since that nightmarish day. He didn't want this incident to continue hurting her.

Also, Tsuna wondered what would happen if her mom, who seemed to encourage his partiality with the law and approving of one of his friend's - Kyoya to be precise - dealings and connection to the police ever found out about his father's... less than savory affairs. Especially if she knew that those affairs weren't exactly occasionally. That it is his job. That it is the source of his money, the reason they are currently enjoying their comfortable life.

His mom is, after all, a good civilian that follows the legal side of things.

He wonders if this is one of the reasons his father deemed to make his mom ignorant of his real occupation.

And to think he still married her. The conflicting attitude of his father just hurts his brain.

But then, as he said, his mom seemed to orbit around her father - though her priorities seemed to be focused solely on him now - so would she still accept him even with this? Or would her mind be damaged even further for his continuing lies right to her face?

He would never know and thinking about what-ifs is a waste of time. Because this is his current reality. His mom, an ignorant civilian, his father as one of the Elites of the underworld, and him as a Detective and also now turning into a spy.

Tsuna, more than ever, is determined to use the money his father provides them in anything he would need. For the mafia's own destruction.

His reason for voluntarily doing something that would actually be dangerous even though he had been avoiding anything related to threatening his normal life is not just because of justice.

It's just that this one right here became personal.

Using their own money for their end... Very poetic. It would be like they themselves funded their own demise.

I'm sorry father, I've already chosen a side while you were gone, he thought grimly.

He admits that he doesn't like his father and he knows that he dislikes that fact, but what could he do when his own father started everything even before he was born? He even ignored them after involving them with his dangerous world, then expects everything to be normal.

Then dragging him into its bloody world and making him an heir without considering his own feelings.

He wasn't about to back down and allow them to drag him to that world. Oh, but he would follow, all the while hiding his fangs until he was ready.

"Tsu-kun, were these all the cameras you found?" his mom suddenly asked in the silence. He blinked rapidly for a bit before looking at the several pieces of tiny cameras on the table. He then nodded at his mom.

As far as he knows, that was all he had found. His intuition also didn't pick up any alarming things. There wasn't even a nudge.

His mom picked up the tiny things and studied them for a couple of seconds before she put them back on the table.

"We are going to take all your things and transfer your stuff to the other empty room. We'll sweep everything in your room to make sure." She now had that narrowed look in her eye as she stared in distaste at the cameras.

He just blinked.

"You're so cool mom," he absently said as he stared at her in awe. This usual air-headed mother of his just went into a roller coaster of emotions in just a couple of minutes and yet her aura seem to shine ever so brightly.

His mother looked at him in surprise then beamed widely, the keen aura around her as well completely wiped out from her expression.

"Aww, Tsu-kun~" she squealed then glomped into him, hard. "You're so cool too!" She then posted his head lightly. "Good job finding these stupid things!" She continued. Then her patting turned into a rough rub that mess up his hair even more.

"Moooom," he whined a little. They both looked at each other and laughed.

It's good to see his mother cheering up again after what happened.

He kissed her cheek then ran to his room, happy to hear her laugh.

"I'll call for some helpers!" He heard his mother shout as he went inside his room.

"Okay mom!"

Better fix the important things first before those helpers come.

. . . . .

Nana stared at the camera, her smile immediately dropping as her face twisted into a fierce frown. The aura around her became severe. She shook her head fiercely as it started hurting as was usual when she couldn't handle her emotions that well.

"This fuckin' things..." she mumbled angrily.

"No cussing," she suddenly interrupted herself with light admonishment, her face swiftly changing to a concerned frown as she slapped both her cheeks. But then she snapped both her hands away from her face and forcefully slammed them on the table, her hands curling to the edge of it.

"My stupid husband is a peeping tom," she hissed, voice growling and eyes shifting in anger.

"I'm so disappointed. What happened to my love?" she seamlessly asked herself in sadness, eyes down and teary, voice trembling and her hands released the table as she crossed both of them together in distress.

Not even a second passed before she fiercely swiped the wetness on her eyes. "He has been gone for a long time and the first thing he does coming back is putting cameras on Tsu-kun's room?!" she stomped her feet even as her hand crushed the pieces on the table.

"I really miss him but why did he do this?" her voice slowly turned soft as she stared at the cameras, her hand releasing the destroyed cameras. She then stilled.

"My Tsuna will always be my priority." her voice was final when she said that, eyes determined and hard before she finally calmed down and her smile came back again.

"Now, I better call for movers to help with Tsu-kun's things." She settled down at that decision, her unstable actions finally calming down and the dust-like glint on her eyes fading to their usual brown color.

. . . . .

"What the f*ck did you do, Reborn?" Iemitsu hissed angrily as he stared down at the calmly sitting hitman inside the hotel room that they booked after being kicked out by his wife due to the action of this violent hitman.

"What needed to be done," was what the other answered.

He didn't know why but Iemitsu's usual calm was gone. There was something threatening inside him. An unstable thing that he did not want gone and would do anything for it to stay. Problem is, he didn't know what. And it gnaws on him.

The uncertainty. The ignorance.

So for now, he confronted Reborn about the cameras that were found inside his own son's room, because it is currently his top priority. Just thinking about it burns him inside, someone actually invading something that is his. And yet, instead of some decent answer, what did he hear?

"What needed to be done?" he repeated, his voice sounding hollow in his ear, the answer like an empty excuse to him.

"Yes. Tsunayoshi has too many secrets." Reborn frowned as he thought of that. Secrets that he very much itches to know. He dislikes being in the dark. Besides, Tsuna's secrets seem so intriguing it actually raises his own curiosity. Now that the cameras were found despite the delicacy it had to avoid the famous Sky intuition, he wondered what he would do next.

Before he could continue this line of thought though, he keenly felt the beginnings of killing intent. He snapped to look at the now extremely calm idiot.

An idiot whose potent sky flames currently invisibly, slowly fills the room, and he does not feel even an ounce of enticement from that flame. The raw anger and sharp aura it carried as it encroached the room actually hurt his own flames, and in connection, himself.

"Idiota!" he hissed in both anger and pain.

This is the first time that he felt a Sky flame aura touching him that does not have even the tiniest bit of temptation. How a Sky Flame aura, that should feel like home and warm and happy felt extremely agonizing as each second passed at this very moment.

Despite his dislike of Iemitsu's moronic tendencies and stupid antics, he alone was the only Sky that Reborn felt safe to be around that he knows won't ever try to attract him - a pretty powerful Sun and also an Arcobaleno - simply because he knows how much the other does not want any Guardians.

He doesn't exactly know why Iemitsu is opposed to having his set and he thinks that is a foolish decision. But it is a fact and he had proven that determination time and time again. And his Sky flames actually seems okay with that conscious decision.

But this is the first time he had actually felt Iemitsu's Sky flame aura.

It's dangerous, on a soul level. He wonders how the other hadn't discorded himself already from that unusual deviation of his flame.

He flared his Sun flame and surrounded himself in both its aura and the manifestation. The excruciating pain abated somewhat, but not fully. He could feel how the other does not really actively attack him but his aura itself is like a corrosive acid in its intensity.

The calm man in front of him isn't the happy-go-lucky, stupid person he usually interacts with.

This is Iemitsu Sawada, the Young Lion and Leader of CEDEF. The loathed Advisory Leader of the entire famiglia that they all couldn't help but respect as well.

The only person able to converse normally with Vindice.

"Iemitsu-"

"I think you are forgetting your purpose here, Reborn," Iemitsu cut the other off, his voice cold. "You are tasked to train the heir, not to satisfy your curiosity."

Reborn's eyebrow raised slightly in spite of himself. He even forgot what he was going to say. He was truly surprised as he figured out what the other was doing.

"Nepotism?" his voice dripping in sarcasm. "I never would have thought that the impassive neutral advisor would-"

"Yes, I favor him as he is my son!" The aura around him sharpened and Reborn hissed involuntarily. He strengthened his shield to avoid the pain he is feeling from intensifying. "I didn't give my own flesh and blood to this world just for you to do unnecessary things to satisfy yourself."

Reborn was struck with the realization that despite how Iemitsu seems to be so dedicated to the mafia to the point that he almost abandoned his family, he actually is in fact very protective of them.

That's why he was so shaken when he was informed of the differences between his report and reality, he realized.

It was an ugly comprehension. Now he had to think twice more about how to handle Tsunayoshi. He couldn't just wing it as he had done with Dino. Cavallone is a formidable famiglia, true. But Dino's father trust him so completely he let him do all he wanted in the name of training his heir.

But Iemitsu... seeing how incensed the other was with just some cameras, such harmless things that they are, makes him understand how the other would react to his initial plan of using violence and making the heir follow his words without question.

He is so protective of his family yet he does not know how to interact with his own son.

This man in front of him is someone he had no doubt he admired and respected. The only Sky that managed to make him actually trust him despite all the annoyances he brings.

Not even Nono, his oldest friend, can he let his guard down. Of course not including Luce. Thinking about her made his eye twitch and he forcefully stopped his mind from going down that hole.

Reborn calmed himself down to talk to Iemitsu in a rational manner. He had to be careful with his words. Iemitsu's sky flame filled the room and it would no doubt catch him in any of his usual bullshits.

Iemitsu might usually act like an idiot but he isn't. One would not be able to get to his position if all he has is brawn and no brain. And the way he was now, Iemitsu is in no mood to tolerate it like he usually does.

"Tsunayoshi's secrets are important to know," he started.

"How so?" Iemitsu narrowed his eyes on him.

"A teenager having that huge shift in personality from your experience should have some damning secrets. We need to know if those secres would be dangerous to us." Iemitsu flinched at his words and he thought he managed to distract the other by mentioning his severe lack of knowing his own son but those eyes were still onto him.

His attention never wavering.

"What secrets could a teenager have that would be dangerous to us in the mafia?" The man slowly questioned.

"What civilian secret could he have that makes the Greatest Hitman so concerned about the safety of the entirety of the Underworld? That he even risked further alienating the heir he should be mentoring to take up the mantle of Vongola and avoid the Civil War in the Underworld?"

Iemitsu's eyes were harsh as he walked towards where he was and bent down to look him in the eye, stopping just on to barrier of his Sun Flame. "You do know why a civilian was chosen to be the heir of Vongola, don't you? Why even Vindice interfered?"

The cold neutrality in his voice as he enunciated each words perfectly and carefully revealed his status as the Famiglia's Advisor that is loathed as well as respected.

Reborn couldn't say anything. He was frozen, trapped in staring at the amber eyes of the other, Sky Flame looking so beautiful behind those furious eyes.

"Why I even revealed my ancestry?" Iemitsu continued, hissing the words out.

Reborn involuntarily gulped, his eyes staring straight at the currently warm flames in the other's eyes filled with intense anger and protectiveness.

"So don't give me any bullshits and just do your own damn job." Iemitsu pulled away from him, stood up straight and abruptly walked out of that room, the Sky Flame aura being pulled away and absorbed back onto the man himself, as he slammed the door shut loudly that it rattled the pictures hanging from the walls.

The way Iemitsu wielded his flame, with ease and control, his power, the barbed and almost acidic property of his aura despite also containing such warmth and protective comfort is contradictory and fascinating.

And relaxing.

Reborn blinked, his Sun flame wavering almost in a dance-like trance before slowly collapsing and dispersing until all that was left inside the room was his tiny, shaking form. It took him a couple of seconds to restart his brain. He then hissed in anger at himself as he clutched his hair in disbelief.

What just happened? Wha-

There was no seduction, no inviting nor coaxing from the other. There literally was nothing like intentional or unintentional pulling felt from the other but why? Why? How could he have managed to Harmonize with the idiot at that time?!

TBC.

A/N:

... Hi? I thought I won't be able to write any of my early fanfics ever again but here I am, managing to write another chapter. Peace for the long wait. Even I didn't know I'll write again.

Anyway, did you predict that? Lolol. I revealed some things that was originally in my notes for this fic AND some unexpected things that just crept up to me as I wrote this chapter. Like the harmonization. I didn't plan for it. It just happened. Sorry not sorry Reborn. And Nana... she is complicated.

Also, I am creating a website and I'll put everything I've written there in all the sites I've been with both fanfics and originals. :)

Review!
