Just so meaby someone will be interesting with it.
Chapter 9
= place: Travers, November 23, 2179 =
The Hegemon forces launched an attack through Travers, quickly seizing several systems and 2 Garden Worlds, which only had a small defense force made up of a few corvettes and frigates. The news spread quickly throughout the Galaxy, and the rest of the lesser colonies began pleading to the SA for help.
Of course, the attack by Travers was one of the possibilities for which pre-war plans were made, but recent fights, mainly of Operation Phoenix, have severely limited the possibilities for a counterattack. Or so most of them thought. Fleet Admiral Okita has already prepared all the ships under his command to counter the Batarian Hegemony. At the same time, he sent a group of 40 to many independent colonies, with information that the Hegemons could attack their territories, and that it would be better to fight with them than separately. Some agreed to the offer, others did not, but it still allowed his strength to grow. In addition, he received a message from the Batarian Rebels that some of their forces could be dispatched to attack the Hegemony supply lines. Earlier, the SA government had agreed to such an alliance because there would be no peace with the Hegemony until one side was completely annihilated. Preparations for the counterattack have begun.
At the same time, 2 Geth fleets and all of their ground forces went to Axanar, with the support of the Ethos fleet, to remove the presence of the Interstellar Alliance from the Planet.
= place: planet Axanar, November 24, 2179 =
"Incoming." - the Ethos soldier Markus shouted, hiding in the trench. The next day, the next attack was done with artillery support. These creatures do not even have a self-preservation instinct, attacking under fire from their own and enemy artillery, significantly increasing their losses. Or they have some device that makes them either charge or die. The constant fighting has significantly depleted the military and volunteer forces, wounded and killed, by about 30%. Well-fortified positions of heavy tanks fired upon the larger creatures, while troops in the trenches showered them with fire from whatever weapons were present on the planet. In exchange, Rachni spat acid, which, when hit, splashed on everything in the area. While the armor protected against spatter, a direct hit would still kill with great effectiveness.
"Section 42 here, the worms in the trenches, I repeat, the worms in, aghhhh!" - and suddenly it stopped. Section 42 was close to his section, which was doing quite well compared to the rest. And that meant.
"Section 41, Infantry squads 22-34, are to be prepared immediately for transfer to Section 42. They will be backed up by some of the Reserve Panzer Battalions and Infantry Troops." - it was announced by communicators. Markus, belonging to Squad 29, immediately set off to the rear to use the vehicles to quickly move to Section 42. In just 5 minutes, all the forces were on the way. After all, Ethos has always prided itself on having the most competent navy and army.
During the ride, each unit was assigned to the exact support location, when the unit commander informed the platoon's assignments, and the platoon commander informed about the tasks of the soldiers. With the injuries of Valerian, the former soldier in charge of sending bearings for artillery and air force, Markus became the new soldier to handle these things.
When they got there, the first line of trenches had collapsed, with the second one close to breakdown. Quick reinforcements allowed to repel Rachnii from the second line, but the first line still had to be recovered. And Rachni was followed by SUS soldiers, who brought some of their super-heavy tanks and artillery cannons, with Rachni still pressing. The new task after the frontline was recovered was to approach and locate these super-heavy tanks.
Fortunately, Ethos has specially drilled the trench lines so that artillery cannot complete them when carrying ammunition, wounded and other things. Now they offered a better vector of approach than the charge against entrenched SUS and Rachnii troops. While tanks and artillery continued to fire, albeit, with less intensity than before, the troops were given 20 minutes to ready themselves before the attack.
Markus had some food, replenished energy magazines, and was ready to attack the with his unit. There was a signal and all units launched an attack. They didn't manage to walk even 40 meters when his platoon fined 4 Rachnii soldiers. Immediately they started firing energy rifles, which annihilated these worms from the surface of the planet. One, however, managed to make a lucky shot that collapsed some of the trenches on his platoon mate Erina. She was quickly pulled out, but splinters of acid hit her face. The medic quickly bandaged her and ordered her to depart to the main lines with an escort to receive specialist assistance.
Then the platoon moved to one of the places that was the advanced warehouse. They saw from afar that he was being guarded, so the commander ordered them to enter with a bang. Heavy weapons specialist, Rookie as everyone called him, prepared a launcher that hit the perfect spot, killing the guards. Platoon quickly ran in and took a position behind whatever cover they found. They quickly saw Rachnii approaching, running through only one passage. This allowed the platoon to kill them relatively easily.
Seconds later, one of the artillery shells hit one of the covers where Derek and Kayla were hiding. Both were killed on the spot. The commander ordered the mission to continue, and Markus and the rest of the platoon knew they had to complete it so that these two and hundreds of other casualties would not be wasted.
When they reached their destination, they deviated that it was heavily defended by about 100 Rachnii and 20 SUS soldiers. Their platoon stood no chance and needed support from other platoons that should be around. Unfortunately, it turns out that most of them either did not arrive or suffered even greater casualties. In total, they had about 40 soldiers in several positions, and an attack with such numbers would be suicide.
"Here, assigned to target 42-Alpha, E-platoon. The enemy has a large number of soldiers on the fortifications, and most of the squad has not yet arrived. Should we wait or will you send air support? " - said the commander.
"Here HQ, reinforcements arrived during the attack, soon you will have air support, ETA 2 minutes. But their weapons won't destroy this super-tank, so you'll still have to track it down for the artillery." - HQ reported.
"Copy, HQ, E-platoon, out." - said the commander - "You heard HQ. We wait for the raid and then you cover Markus until he gets a target on this oversized tank."
In fact, after two minutes, a squadron of 12 fighters arrived and began attacking the positions of the Interstellar Alliance with their cannons. They looked like bugs, which was very unexpected for Markus, as he had not seen such fighters before, and these suddenly were on his side. But he didn't think about it and began targeting the super-heavy tank when the rest of the Ethos soldiers began firing their rifles. Moments later, artillery began hitting the SUS Super-Heavy Tank, and the rest of their troops began to retreat, leaving Rachnii to attack the Ethos troops. Concentrated fire managed to eliminate them before they got too close, but the acid still managed to hit a few soldiers.
Moments later the commander reported to HQ about the success of the operation. It turned out that most of the branches also finished their tasks. Then a vehicle flew over them, about 30 meters long and looking similar to fighters before. The vehicle landed nearby and several hundred robots disembarked. They immediately took to the wreckage of the super-heavy tank and began repairing the trench positions and other defensive positions.
The commander approached one of them and began a conversation.
"So you are our new allies, Geths, if am right." - said the commander.
"This is correct." - Geth said.
"With your help, will we be able to finally ward off SUS and their allies?" - Markus asked.
"Our ships have MassEffect armament, with a much greater range than your armament. This will allow us to attack the enemy fleet from a distance far beyond the range of their own equipment. In this way, they will either have to withdraw or gain reinforcements and attack our positions with the support of the ground-orbit weapons." - Geth said.
"So we'll start our own offensive soon?" - asked the commander.
"Command has plans, but before that we have to deal with re-arming the troops and learning about each other's tactics to improve coordination and effectiveness in combat. The estimated time is your 2 standard months."
And so the attack of Rachnii and SUS came to an end, and preparations began for the offensive of Ethos and its new allies.
= place: Czech system, November 29, 2179 =
By November 29, Hegemony forces had already occupied 9 Garden Worlds and 74 systems, being only 3 relay jumps from SA Territories. At the same time, the Mothball Fleet was fully mobilized and transported to the border, where it met with many other minors from the independent colonies and a Batarian rebel squadron. All commanders met at the war council aboard the System Alliance command ship.
"As you all know, our situation is not looking good." - began Admiral Okita - "Our combined forces have about 700 ships capable of fighting, including corvettes. The Batarians, on the other hand, have 900, including corvettes the corvette as well."
"Your forces easily defeating the enemy, even when they had an advantage of 3:1." - the turian said - "Now they only have a fleet of about 20% bigger, I don't see a problem."
"Ship types are the problem." - said Lystheni - "They are all antiquated warships, in addition, almost half of our total number of ships are defense-force ships, which are smaller and technologically inferior to the ships of the Hegemony. The extras can still send reinforcements, and our own support is dubious to say the least."
"We should take the entire fleet and cut straight through their lines and start seizing ships along the way." - the krogan said.
"Only your ships are fit for this, and most of them are 1000 years old rubbish." - Asari said.
"Are you insulting me?" - the angry krogan asked.
"Maybe yes maybe no." - Asari replied.
"Enough of that!" - Okita shouted - "We will not establish an action plan against the Hegemony, arguing over trivial things or something that happen in the past! I am waiting for suggestions here, not insulting each other!"
"Then I suggest you ask our dear rebels." - another Asari said sarcastically.
"Happy. We support this suggestion." - Elcor said.
"She spoke sarcastically." - the turian said.
"Seriously. I know, but I still feel that the Rebels should suggest a plan of action." - the same Elcor said again.
"You can't seriously trust these Batarians." - said a turain woman.
"Experience in fighting the Hegemons, probably the greatest of all of us." - salarian begin to analyze - "They probably have the intelligence that will give us the upper hand. The number of ships and personnel dispatched, negligible. Most of the information is just guesswork, but it's worth giving a chance."
"So, dear Rebel leader, do you have a plan." - Okita asked.
"Actually, I have one." - said Batarian, then displayed a map of the galaxy where the fighting took place - "Our intelligence forces show that the Hegemony is sending another fleet to support the operation with a group of 60 Mothball ships and 120 pirate ships to speed up the operation. Additional 300 corvettes and 500 transport ships. But this strength will not come until December 7, so we have some time. Another reason for such a rapid success of the operation is the division of the fleet into smaller groups, which began to catch the systems, and then quickly perform orbital fire and landings of troops. However, in this way, they also extended their forces into groups of 30 to 70 warships and corvettes, with 60 to 150 transport ships. My plan is to divide the fleet into 7 groups of 100 ships and attack 6 systems under the Hegemony at the same time, where such groups are present. Additionally, the last group will remain as a reserve. The main goal will be to destroy as many Hegemony ships as possible, which should bring our numbers to a similar level."
"I admit, the plan is good, but then what?" said the salarian - "Wouldn't that make the rest of the Hegemony forces just regroup and wait for backup? Or it will just make larger groups and strike back, this time outnumbering us?"
"We have agents aboard several ships of this fleet." - Batarian replied confidently - "We will know all Hegemony movements in advance and then counter them."
"I like this plan." - Okita said.
"Agreed, but only if we can fight on the front lines." - Krogan said.
Asari nodded to several of the other commanders and said - "We still don't fully trust you, but we can agree to this plan."
Preparations for surgery have started.

The admirals had gathered in the conference room, or they were in the form of Holograms. The only exception was the hologram of Rebel's representative - Lilyt.
"So you are repeating the offer?" - Admiral Grissom asked.
"Yes." - said Lilyt - "Ambassador Shinkawa has made it clear that you will agree to the Alliance if the Hegemony refuses peace."
"We want to win this war as soon as possible and go home before more of our people die."
"And we want to create a new state on the ashes of the Hegemony. In both cases, we must defeat the Hegemony. Your problem is their Monthball fleet. All the losses you inflicted on them have already been made up, and they still have reserves. Your better technology and tactics are simply not enough to win against such a numerical advantage."
"But they have proposed a plan to destroy their main Monthball fleet base. Show as this plan."
"Of course." - Lilyt said, activating her Omni-tool at the same time, then a system map appeared on the display - "This is the Begketor system, it holds 2,000 Monthball Hegemony ships, half of their total Monthball fleets. While 600 have already been activated and have moved to the front lines, 1,400 are still up for the taking. If you look closely you will notice that the system is guarded by one, fleet, but it only has 102 ships, without the dreadnought. In addition, there are 200-250 corvettes there. Most of these ships are clustered around these two relays, but the second moon, of the fourth planet, where the Monthball ships are housed, also has a good number of ships and numerous earth-orbit defenses, and numerous GARDIAN turrets. While most of them have not been improved since the Krogan Rebels, they can still be a clear obstacle. Additionally, there is an 11th Hegemoni fleet in range to support them when needed. Our plan consists of several phases."
"The first phase is the action of special forces and our spies shutting down defense systems. There are 6 control buildings in total, so you will need the same number of teams. They will then signal the start of Phase 2. It will consist of a 3-sided attack. One of your fleets will split in two and attack the Hegemony troops around the relay while we attack the Hegemon troops around the moon. Don't worry about the FTL drive, we have a secret base in only 3.5 light-years for this system so it won't be a problem arriving for as. When our forces arrive and break through the orbital defenses, the final phase will begin. Phase 3 is to send our forces to capture as many ships as possible. They don't even have to be fully functional, it is enough that they have a functional FTL drive, so we will be able to get away with them. Everything else, including the base, is to be blown up. If there is a Hegemony backup, we take the ships we managed to capture and blow up the rest."
"The plan looks solid, but how are we going to get there?" - Admiral Grissom asked.
"We'll use your FTL technology to get there." - Lylit said, then moved over to a map of this part of the galaxy - "This relay is only 2,160 light-years from the Begketor system, 4 days of your FTL journey. The only problem is sending in special forces, but you should have some Stealth frigates to transport them."
"I like this plan." - said Admiral Okita - "We are planning an offensive on the Traverse in 3 days. If our forces start immediately, our attack could act as an additional diversion."
"But the mobilization of the forces needed to seize the ships." - Admiral Grissom began.
"Our forces are ready to occupy these ships." - Lilyt said.
"And the special forces are just waiting for some action, just like my fleet, and they can start tomorrow." - Admiral Nitesh Singh, Commander of the 3rd Fleet.
"What about the defense of Arcturus?" - Admiral Hackett asked.
"There will still be a Geth and Quarian fleet here." - Nitesh said.
"What will be the fleet sent by the Rebellions?" - Admiral Okita asked.
"We have 7 escort carriers, 72 corvettes, 32 frigates, 13 destroyers, 4 cruisers and 50 ships transporting crew." - Lilyt said.
"I assume half of that are converted civilian ships." - Hackett said.
"About 60% actually, but with one of your fleets, it will be more than enough to successfully complete the operation." - Lilyt said.
"What do you think?" - Grissom asked the other admirals.
"The profits are huge, and the plan itself is solid and thought-out down to the smallest detail." - said Admiral Okita - "I only worry about getting our special forces."
"The government has cut funding for the Stealth special forces vessel, so we have to deal with what we have now." - said Okita - "I am in favor of this plan."
"Me too" - "Me too." - The admirals began to agree and the details of the attack plan were quickly finalized, and the next day, the 3rd fleet with several special forces frigates flew out into battle.
