Chapter 6 - (as of yet unnamed)

Marie

Despite the intermittent appearances from my captor, life inside continued in the same way; regular meals which held no appeal, cold showers and clean clothes that smelt of industrial soap, and I was always given a dose of the suppression serum.

However, after my most recent shower I was directed to a room on another floor. This was was just as bare in decor but held a larger bed, big surprise, and had it's own adjoining bathroom, so I no longer had to use the toilet in the middle of my living space. I also had a bath, which was a nice feature, although, that must have meant I was no longer required to leave for showers, which kind of helped break the day up a little.

I found a few more surprises once I'd had a look around. There was a small paperback hidden in the pillowcase, a harlequin romance, the type you'd pick up air a gas station. It had an image of a swooning maiden on the cover and I instantly stuffed it back under the pillow. I also came across a wrapped bar of soap and some tampons, which was oddly convenient as I had a feeling I would been needing those in a few days. There was also a bar of chocolate folded into the towel that was neatly placed in the bath.

I immediately knew Logan had left me those gifts, and I didn't know how I felt about that. Nor him. I knew I ought to hate him for what he'd put me though; kidnap, imprisonment, the threat of what he intends to do with me. Somehow, I couldn't find the anger there. In fact, the strongest emotion I felt was confusion. How could somebody abduct you but still be so courteous and considerate of your feelings?

I considered this myself as a ran a bath, holding the bar of soap under the hot tap in an attempt to create bubbles, which only succeeded in creating cloudy bathwater. The soap was lightly floral scented and this, at least, made a nice change from the antibacterial shit they gave me.

As I climbed into the water, I took out the chocolate bar from under the towel. It was a brand I'd never seen before but the imagery on the wrapped showed it to be white chocolate, and it was just as heavily smelling and richly decedent as any I'd had before.

Since being locked up, I'd not had much of an appetite, picking at the modest portions of food they'd been sending though, and as a result, I'd been losing weight. Recently there had also been substantial snacks offered between meals as well, which had to mean they were noticing. Not that I thought protesting would help, but the constant anxiety churning in my stomach left little room for food.

The chocolate was a welcome treat and I'd eaten half the bar before I had even realized. I hid the rest down the between the side of the bath and the wall, since the bath was free- standing.

I thought that maybe the harlequin romance wouldn't have been a bad idea after all. Maybe I could bring it in with me next time?

After a while the water had began to cool and I was expecting the lights to turn down. When they didn't, I leaned over and looked out into the main room. There was a dimmer switch built into the wall, right next to what looked like a thermostat. Living the life of luxury, I thought sarcastically.

I didn't have anything else to do, so I began counting the many small white titles on the wall in front of me. They were ever so slightly wavy, like ripples spreading over the surface of water, although total, retina-searing white. I made a mental note to lower the lights when I got out. Then when I'd run out of brain power enough to even count anymore, I stared up at the smooth, blank ceiling and closed my eyes.

I dreamed of him. Of hard muscles I desperately wanted to run my fingers over. Of the lines of his chiselled chest I could made out through the tight t-shirt he always wore and could tell was gloriously hairy from the small section I could see under his Adam's apple. And of the strong arms I so desperately wanted to be wrapped in.

I was awoken from this fantasy by the real thing, scooped out of the now cold water and up high into the air. The shock jolted me awake, my arms automatically flying out. In any other circumstances, this may have been okay, but the combination of trying to cover my naked body, the wetness of said naked body and the serious blow to the side of Logan's head from my elbow, caused him to drop me.

I saw the edge of the bath fly towards me as I tumbled down and then everything went completely black.
