"Fuck. Of course, we come back and she's already dead," Zoro exhaled deeply and cut all the trees surrounding him.
He came a day after the funeral when he had already asked for Kuina's sword, thank Enel, he thought. He didn't think he could face his teacher without giving everything away. He made peace with her death long ago so he was prepared for the outcome though it stung. However, he was very interested in the connections between Wano and his home island.
He never got the full story but the land of Wano and its people called to him in a way he was very unfamiliar with. The closest he could think of was the pull he felt towards his brothers and his crew. But, Shimotsuki Kozaburo, Kuina's grandfather died long ago and his secrets along with him. He remembers Kuina saying once that her dad was frustrated with her grandfather because he never spoke of his past before coming to the village. Kyoshiro wanted to know where their swordsmanship was born since no one in the East Blue and surrounding areas were as skilled with the sword as members of their dojo. And it was all thanks to Kuina's grandfather who taught the other villagers and his son the way of the blade. Zoro had learnt skills native only to Wano without even knowing it.
Zoro remembers getting pointers from the old man long before he even knew who he was. But, now, Wano was tied to him in such a way that he could never forget its people nor the land that was home to most of his nightmares. He would ask Sabo to look into it, this connection was something Sabo would want to know, as Wano was key to the Revolutionary's plan in their other lifetime though Dragon never explained why. Sabo was determined to find that connection now, he was always interested in a good mystery, he amusedly thought.
There was nothing left to do so just like last time he took off one morning and didn't turn back. He stole some supplies and hopped onto a boat. He wanted to go to Luffy so he headed in the general direction he thought his island was in. As he sailed through the East Blue waters there was the nagging feeling he was forgetting something, several things actually but since he couldn't remember, he shrugged his shoulders and nodded off to sleep under the hot sun.
A/N: I'm baaack! Writer's block is real and a horrible thing. I'm sorry for being away for so long on this story. I will be back to updating this story though I won't set a schedule. This chapter is short since I wanted to get something out there. Of Course the reason why Zoro hasn't contacted his brothers is because he forgot lol and he still can't navigate. Where will he end up?
