Ok, took me a few more hours to post than I wanted to, but blame the fact I was sleeping SUPER deeply all morning long.
Anyway, this chapter is a bit of a breather from the main story... because we're going back to Atlas.
Atlas Chronicles - Part 2
"Okay...not gonna lie. The show made these look WAY easier to use than they actually are," Yang grumbled. After what happened the previous night, they'd moved to a less crowded area...so she could get the hang of the fact she had apparently ended up the new Spring Maiden...a fact that Gennai couldn't explain at all, seeing as the Crystal was SUPPOSED to keep the power contained. Either way, they didn't dwell on it too much. It was there, so now all they could do was make the best of it.
As such, she was now attempting to practice using her new powers… by flying in the air with jets of fire beneath her feet.
Gyro had theorised that the Maidens probably had access to all elements, as giving the Spring Maiden ice and the Fall Maiden fire made little sense, and it was more likely that the Maiden just chose what element to use herself. So, Yang picked fire, because it was what she was familiar with.
"I think Gyro talked about a superhero that flies like this…" Biyomon said, flying next to her.
"Yeah, Iron Man, Pierce… told… me… oh god I'm an idiot." Yang groaned, before suddenly flames came from her hands and her flight was suddenly a LOT more stable. "Okay, so using arms and legs really DOES make this more stable. Good to know," she sighed.
"Race ya to that tree then," Biyomon said cheerfully as she darted forward. After all this time, while she still wasn't as fast as her more evolved forms, she was able to fly decently fast at this level.
"You're on," Yang grinned as she chased after her partner.
Down below, Pierce smiled a bit as he watched Yang getting used to her new powers. "This definitely wasn't in the plan, but it's not so bad," he chuckled a bit.
"Even if this makes Salem come after us, it's not like we weren't planning on fighting her eventually," Veemon agreed.
"Yeah… still, this IS one heck of a script flip… though we're at least not at Cross levels yet." Gyro said.
"Who's Cross?" Agumon asked.
"A guy who likes adrenaline WAY too much and keeps flipping everything on its head by being an annoying loudmouth with the help of a talking snail." Pierce answered, pinching the bridge of his nose "And I HOPE we don't hit his level."
"How bad would it have been?" Veemon asked.
"We'd have no idea what would be happening next," Gyro admitted. "Like, completely blind. Granted we'll probably reach that eventually, but at least for now we got a good angle of where we want to or need to go."
"Ah...yeah, that could be a problem," Agumon agreed.
"For now, let's just work on things as they go. We know where we should head next, and we'll work on it as we go," Pierce said.
"Well, I dunno about you guys, but I want to know how Atlas has been doing recently." Nora grinned "Wanna see if something funny happened in their video logs again?"
"Heh, sure. We could use a good laugh," Gyro chuckled.
Meanwhile, with Atlas…
"This world really follows its own logic," Harriet couldn't help but say again, seeing as there was an upside down mountain in the distance, somehow balancing on its tip without any signs of falling over. "Think this should be a good spot?"
"The area is secure, and there aren't any natural hazards, nor are we getting in the way of any of the locals," Clover listed off, before nodding. "Yeah, we can use this spot."
"So with this beacon placed, that gate you used to enter here will be able to home in on the coordinates then?" Kudamon asked from where he was curled around his shoulder.
"That's correct," Clover nodded as Vine and Marrow were busy setting up said beacon.
"Everything is set and ready, so we'll activate the beacon in 3...2...1," Elm said as she pressed the switch, the beacon extending and releasing a signal, which was soon followed by another gate appearing out of thin air.
A few moments of wait, and someone passed through, quickly revealed to be Ironwood, stumbling a bit at the sudden step, before chuckling as he rubbed his (freshly shaven) chin "I suppose we'll need to mind the drop."
"Yeah, the first step is a doozy. Trust us, we know," Marrow couldn't help but say, earning an elbow from Harriet as they all stood at attention.
"Glad you could join us, General," Clover said with a nod.
"Glad to be here," Ironwood nodded. "Status of the expedition team?"
"A few rough moments at first, but thanks to our guide here, Kudamon, we've been able to avoid most if not all the local hazards. Zero casualties and all members are accounted for...physically at least…" Clover reported...and added at the end as everyone looked at where Dr. Brown was...the poor man chugging a flask as he was muttering how nothing made sense...and looking at the upside down mountain that literally defied every rule based on Remnant logic. "...recommend psychiatric care for Dr. Brown, and highly recommend more...open minded...scientists for future expeditions…" Clover finished a bit lamely.
"It may be our world, but we're not trying to rob people of sanity," Kudamon couldn't help but add with a sweat drop.
Ironwood could feel the bead of sweat on the back of his head "Noted and immediately approved. Someone inform Dr. Brown he's on paid vacation to a psychiatrist for the next two months." he said, and a nearby soldier snapped into a salute before going to do just that.
"What's our next move, General?" Vine asked.
"I've reviewed the information you've all sent up till now, and in light of the recent events, I've been strongly considering forging diplomatic ties to the leaders of this Continent," Ironwood mused. It was something he'd been thinking of ever since learning that the Digimon...at least the ones on this Continent, had something of an organized government. Ever since the near fall of Vale, there had been a lot of things he'd been looking over. Even if it had been thankfully stopped, the fact remained his Kingdom's technology was nearly used to bring one of their allies down, and try as he might, he couldn't deny that the idea that something like that could happen again...frightened him. It was why he'd turned the security systems upside down and built them up from the ground with new systems to prevent such a thing from happening again.
Furthermore, in light of how effective the Digimon had proven against the Grimm...it was also why he'd started looking for any and all students who'd encountered and formed a bond with one. The world was changing, and he fully intended to make use of it to win the war against Salem. That was why he hoped if they could secure an alliance with the leaders of at least one section of the Digital World, that could be another step further into the future of their people.
"In that case, I think it would be best if I went with you. I'm well respected in these parts." Kudamon said, before flowing over to Ironwood's shoulder "It'll paint an even better picture if you're seen with me."
"Then we appreciate the help," Ironwood nodded.
"You're really going through a lot of trouble just for a chance to see Remnant," Marrow blinked.
"I may not look it, but I've been around for quite some time," Kudamon chuckled. "A change of scenery is always nice."
"Alright then. I can guarantee if you help us with this, there won't be any objections whatsoever of you coming back with us," Ironwood chuckled a bit. It was almost comedic how they were basically getting help for free.
With that settled, several more personnel came out of the gateway, the Atlesian forces soon making a base camp in the area, seeing as it wasn't currently being inhabited by any Digimon, nor was it in the way of any paths or routes, so it wouldn't be an issue to use it as a base. "Once the camp is set, I will be selecting a small group to accompany me on an important task," Ironwood told the personnel gathered at the base, but right as he said that…
"W-wait a minute!" a voice said, as someone went through the portal, tripping along the way and ending up falling on the ground.
"Do be careful Dr. Kurata." Ironwood said with a barely present smirk as he went to pull the scientist to his feet. "We have a bit of an unexpected drop."
"Yes… I noticed." Kurata sighed as he let Ironwood help him "We should probably make a raised platform below the gateway, in case anyone comes through with sensitive material."
"That and we need to find a way to make the gates actually appear properly on the ground," Clover couldn't help but add. The tests where Atlesian Knights ended up falling into the ocean or even into active volcanoes was proof that the gate, while greatly improved...still needed work.
With that, the Atlesian forces quickly went to work in preparing their base and choosing who would go on this Diplomatic Expedition. However, as they were busy at work, none of them noticed that their arrival wasn't as unknown as they'd have thought.
"Hmm… the boss'll want to hear about this." their watcher muttered, before a small grin appeared on their pumpkin headed face. "Hopefully they'll be interesting though, wouldn't do if they were a boring lot."
"The closest Olympos 12 Member to our location is the ruler of this area, Mercurymon," Kudamon said as by now a small convoy of vehicles was making its way through the woodlands. The group that Ironwood picked would consist of a mix of soldiers and scientists, with the ones in charge of Diplomacy being parts of his inner circle, namely Clover and Winter, and by extension, Lunamon.
"What can we expect meeting this Mercurymon?" Ironwood asked.
"For starters, cold," Kudamon chuckled. "And I mean that literally. Mercurymon's personal fortress is known as the Infinite Ice Wall. A frozen area to the north of the continent that is snowy all year long."
"That won't be too much of a problem." Winter said with an amused smile "We're from Atlas, the northernmost kingdom on Remnant, and we get snow all year round."
"Basically, they won't keel over." Lunamon said with a small laugh.
"Then it's perfect for all of you," Kudamon chuckled. "The only problem though is reaching the destination. While the Olympos 12 do their best to maintain order in the WWW continent, it's just too big. As such, there are several areas that tend to be more treacherous than others," he explained.
"That's what the convoys are for. Digimon may be strong, but if it's the feral ones, we should be able to deal with them," Clover said.
"Just don't get too over confident. There might be a few Perfects along the way. Let's not take any unnecessary risks if we can," Kudamon said.
"That much I think we can agree," Ironwood nodded. "Though what can we expect of this route?"
"...that's a tough one," Kudamon sighed. "The landscape can and does shift wildly, and can sometimes even change within a few decades. So at this point I can't fully guarantee what will be on the way."
"In that case we'll just have to handle it as it comes," Winter frowned.
The convoy continued onward, the path turning into fields, and before long it started to get more rocky as it started to transition to more mountainous areas.
"What can we expect in these areas?" Clover asked, looking out one of the windows.
"Mostly mineral based Digimon I'd say, though there are the odd Beast or Dragon that make their home in these kinds of areas." Kudamon answered.
"Anything dangerous?" Winter asked.
"Not really. The most violent Digimon around these parts from what I recall are mostly just Adult levels." Kudamon said with a shake of his head.
"Then hopefully this turns out to be a straightforward journey," Clover nodded.
"Just hope Mercurymon will be willing to listen to us when we arrive though," Lunamon frowned.
"Oh he will," Kudamon chuckled.
"What makes you say that?" Winter quirked an eyebrow.
"Call it a hunch," Kudamon chuckled mysteriously. The convoy continued onward and so far so good. However, it was only a matter of time before the little devil called Murphy decided to throw a road block their way.
"Huh… what's that up there?" Clover mused, looking higher up on the rocky cliff face.
Kudamon hummed, leaning closer to observe, seeing a simian shaped Digimon with patches of stone covering its body "That, would be a Baboongamon."
Digimon Analyzer: Baboongamon
Baboongamon. Vaccine Type. An Adult Level Beast Digimon. A Digimon with a strong territorial sense, they live in packs on cliffs and rocky mountains, with the hardness of the stones on their body dictating which of them is the alpha of the pack. Its special attack is Mount Stone, hurling the rocks on its arms at the enemy.
"It's highly territorial, so crossing one isn't a good sign unless you're prepared." Kudamon added.
"Why is that?" Ironwood asked with a frown.
"Because, they live in packs." Kudamon warned.
Right on cue, more sounds were heard as the rest of the pack soon followed, and they did not look happy. "Well...looks like the pack is here...and their stance on us is clear," Lunamon gulped a bit.
"Should we engage?" Winter frowned, already ready to exit the convoy and join the battle if it went to that.
Ironwood considered for a moment. This was the fastest route to their destination, but not the only one, so taking an alternative path wouldn't be out of the question. Still though, it would take time that they could use more productively. With that in mind… "Aim to drive them away, but if they continue to hold their ground or even push back, be ready to retreat. It's more important that we reach the destination than how we reach it," he ordered.
"Understood," Winter and Clover nodded as the order was relayed to the rest of the personnel as well. As was standard, the first to be deployed were the Atlesian Knights, who quickly exited the vehicles they were loaded on, and trained their weapons on the Baboongamon, before opening fire.
The Baboongamon were momentarily caught by surprise, the shots causing them to recoil. By then the Specialists that were part of the group had exited their vehicles and were ready to join the fight as well. However, the Baboongamon had soon regained their bearings, and started retaliating...by grabbing the stones that were part of their bodies and hurling them at the AKs. The machines tried to defend, but were soon taking hard hits, their frames unable to withstand the impacts and soon started falling apart. The Specialists tried to help, and while their weapons proved more effective than the AKs and their Auras were able to tank the attacks, when they got close, the Baboongamons used their Glide Rock moves to smash them back, some having their auras broken.
"That's enough! Fall back! We'll find another way!" Ironwood ordered quickly seeing as half the AKs deployed had been destroyed while several of the Specialists had lost the protection of their Auras.
"Good call! These Baboongamon are more aggressive than usual!" Kudamon agreed.
With the order given, the weapons on the convoys themselves were activated to give the Specialists and remaining AKs some cover as they retreated, and once everyone was on board, they quickly reversed out and soon took an alternative path that took them down another section of the area and soon they were off the mountain and in what appeared to be a forest, albeit one that wasn't too dense.
"That...didn't go so well…" Lunamon winced.
"Baboongamon vary from one to another. These were particularly territorial," Kudamon sighed. "It was a wise decision to not keep trying to press through."
"I suppose that just means we have to take the long way around." Ironwood sighed "I can only hope the next area will be more calm."
"Well...it seems we DID find somewhere more...calm," Dr. Kurata couldn't help but say. The reason? The path they'd taken brought them into what at first looked like a tunnel...only for them to find that it was apparently a museum of some kind instead. And what a strange museum it was. Paintings seemed to float in mid-air as around them seemed to be a void of sorts, yet when some curious members tried touching, they found there was something of an invisible barrier to prevent anyone from walking off the edge.
"So the Mirage Museum ended up here this time," Kudamon mused.
"You say that like it moves around," one of the scientists blinked.
"That's because it does," Kudamon chuckled, enjoying the surprised look that got. "At any rate, this area, while not dangerous in and of itself, it tends to like to shift every now and then, so we'll have to be careful not to get lost. I'd recommend using something to keep track of the paths we've taken," he said.
"That's nothing too difficult. Our vehicles are equipped with cameras that can make a map with the onboard computers." Winter said as she started tapping a few buttons on her scroll.
As she did, one of the computers on the dashboard turned on, displaying a map of their immediate surroundings, with it slowly being filled in the more they moved along.
"Alright then, with this we should be able to navigate without too many issues. The museum thankfully doesn't shift while there are people inside," Kudamon nodded with a pleased smile.
"Let's not waste time then," Lunamon said, earning several nods of agreement as the convoy started moving through. Thankfully the Mirage Museum either shifted to accommodate its 'guests' or it was this big to begin with as navigating the vehicles wasn't too much of an issue. However, they weren't alone here.
The pumpkin headed observer hummed, a grin on his face as he watched them from up high "They're making good time… let's see how they deal with a few little… potholes." he snickered to himself as he thought about what he had planned.
The convey was moving along smoothly, and despite a few dead ends they'd found, they were overall progressing through the museum. However…
"Wait...was that always there?" Clover blinked, as he could have sworn the statue wasn't there before.
"I thought you said the museum doesn't shift while people are in here," Winter frowned, as checking the map, she noticed a wall was where a path used to be.
"It should," Kudamon said. "I don't know why it's suddenly behaving differently…" he frowned.
"Maybe something's caused the area's data to be altered?" Lunamon blinked.
"That or maybe someone is manipulating this area's data," Kudamon frowned. "Though I can't say for sure with just this. We'll probably have to explore further before we can find anything conclusive."
"Hopefully if someone IS manipulating the data, they aren't doing so maliciously." Clover said, before frowning "Though, we should be ready anyway, just in case."
With that said the convoy continued on through the museum… and they started taking several long, winding turns that didn't seem to make any sort of sense, especially since some of said turns seemed to send them right back on their original path… that had all but disappeared until they backtracked and it was magically back.
And that was without talking about the parts that went up and down and all around several times.
"I'm positive now that someone is manipulating this area," Kudamon frowned. "This movement is far too erratic to be normal."
"The only problem now is we'll need to find out who is responsible for this bizarre situation…" Lunamon frowned.
"Any way we can flush them out?" Clover asked.
"That's the thing. If they were openly malicious it'd be easy enough. But as it is, it seems whoever is doing this is more...playing...with us," Kudamon frowned. "Though...perhaps if someone could try to counter hack…"
"Perhaps I could be of assistance," Kurata spoke up. "I've been studying the Digital World quite a bit since we first became aware of it. I'd like to see if my work bears fruit."
"If you think you've got something that can help us, then by all means Dr. Kurata," Ironwood nodded, giving him the 'ok'.
Kurata nodded in response and pulled out his scroll, before connecting it to a device, which he soon plugged into...the ground. "Fascinating...so this world really IS fully composed of data," he mused as he started typing away. The programs started running and he started manipulating the data in the interface. As he worked, the halls soon started returning to normal, revealing that the map they had was still very much accurate it seems. "There, that should restore the area to its normal parameters, assuming our little hacker doesn't decide to make our trip more...interesting...again," he said.
"We can only hope I guess." Clover sighed "Still, thanks for that doc, glad to know you can handle these kinds of situations."
"But of course," Kurata said with a chuckle. "If I couldn't at least do this much, I can't exactly call myself much of a programmer or researcher, can't I?"
"At any rate, we should keep moving. The sooner we get out of here, the better," Ironwood said as the convoy continued on the path.
The group continued onward, so far it seemed they were back to the rhythm before. For a while it seemed that whoever had caused the little road block had given up...at least until one of the convoys shook as something had hit it. "What was that?!" Lunamon asked in surprise, several members coming out of the vehicles...and found what appeared to be several Digimon appearing out of thin air.
"Where did they come from?!" one of the members gasped.
"That's not something that normally happens here!" Kudamon quickly said. "Our hacker must be back with new tricks," he frowned.
"Guess we'll have to fight then," Clover frowned as he used his weapon and managed to hook one of the Digimon, smashing it into another...causing both to vanish.
"...it seems these aren't real Digimon but simply copies of them," Kudamon observed.
"Then that just means we have no reason to hold back," Winter said, before the soldiers started unloading onto the Digimon. They seemed to hold their ground for a moment, but quickly broke down into data. The area was soon cleared, but not long after more started appearing.
"It's like enemies spawning in a video game!" Lunamon gasped.
Ironwood raised a curious eyebrow as he considered that "Then it seems that this mysterious hacker of ours is messing around for 'shits and giggles' as they say."
"Then we'll either have to beat the game, or we'll have to terminate it," Kurata frowned, getting to work again.
"Actually by that logic, I think beating the game would be easier," Winter mused. "Lunamon, if you don't mind."
"Anytime!" Lunamon said cheerfully.
"I'll assist as well," Kudamon chuckled, as Winter took out her D-Ark which started to glow.
(Play 'EVO')
"Evolution," a drone-like voice said, before the scene shifted and a wireframe egg of sorts appeared, the scene shifting outwards to reveal it was Winter's D-Ark which glowed brightly as waves of energy colored ice blue.
"Lunamon, Evolve!" Lunamon called out as the energy spiraled around her and soon formed a cocoon around her. Within the cocoon her skin dissolved, her body taking on a wireframe tone colored the same ice blue as it started to shift. Her form grew larger and more humanoid, several of her features becoming more defined and as her skin reformed, followed by a pair of gloves on her new arms as well as a metal helmet/mask on her face and armor on her torso, before the cocoon burst, revealing her new form. The armor on her torso was actually more like a large iron belt with a crescent moon buckle. Her head sported several more… ear antenna things. And she had several blue tails of sorts coming out her lower back. "Lekismon!"
Digimon Analyzer: Lekismon
Lekismon. Data Type. An Adult Level Beast Man Digimon. She has gained amazing agility upon her evolution, and uses these new skills to toy with her enemies. Her personality is said to be as wavering as the phases of the moon. Her special attack is Moon Night Kick, jumping high into the air before attacking with a powerful downward kick.
Lekismon didn't waste any time and immediately jumped forward, moving very fast, and using the terrain rebounded off the walls and delivered powerful kicks to the Digimon, the fake constructs shattering without much resistance. Even so more were coming...only to be shattered just as quickly. Eventually it seemed the Digimon got the hint...and soon converged becoming a larger albeit singular entity that seemed to be a copy of a Devimon.
"...if that's not the 'Boss', then I don't know what is," Lekismon said dryly right as the Devimon tried to get her with a Death Claw. However, she was still too fast and after evading another attack, using the back of his arm as a springboard. "Moon Night...Kick!" she called out as she reached the apex of her jump and brought her foot down in a downward kick, hitting the Devimon in the head with enough force that would have caved a person's skull in...or in this case shatter the Boss's head, the rest of the body following...and formed a cheerful message of 'Game Clear!'
"Ok… they had way too much fun with this." Lekismon sighed, hand meeting her forehead.
"Do you think they'll back off now that we've 'cleared' this 'game'?" Ironwood asked with a frown.
"No way to know. Hopefully yes, but we'd better off be ready for anything," Lekismon said as she reverted to Lunamon.
"Then it seems that's what we'll have to do," Winter frowned.
"Though the good news is I don't see any tampering anymore. The hacker has backed off for now at least," Kurata reported.
"Then let's not waste any time. Keep moving," Ironwood ordered, earning several nods of agreement.
Fortunately it seemed that the game had satisfied the hacker, as no other notable events happened beyond navigating through the museum, and before long they found the exit of the museum, the light of a setting sun meeting them.
"Glad to be out of there," Clover chuckled.
"Indeed. Hopefully our path won't have any further… distractions like that until we reach our destination." Winter sighed.
"Already crossing my fingers." Lunamon said jokingly, even as she held up a pair of crossed fingers.
As the convoy continued onward, they didn't notice the pumpkin headed observer chuckling as he appeared again. "That was fun, but that's enough fun for now. The Boss needs to hear about this one," he said before he soon vanished.
Still rather far away from the convoy, in a section of the continent that was covered in snow and ice, a great fortress of ice stood, made from a mix of architecture and the natural defenses that the glacier offered. Not far from the entrance, the pumpkin headed observer appeared. "I'm home," he said playfully, though he didn't expect anyone to be there to welcome him until he was at the first gate.
"Took you long enough man." he heard a voice say, making him look down to see someone standing right in front of him… that someone being a Gotsumon with white stones "How did things go?"
The pumpkin headed Digimon shrugged "Not too badly honestly. They know how to handle themselves, and they didn't fly off the handle from my pranks, so they've got some level heads on their shoulders at least."
The white colored Gotsumon(?) nodded, chuckling "Yeah, I'll say. Though, at least our pranks aren't as bad as they were back in the day."
"We WERE rather childish back then." the taller of the two laughed as the two began walking towards the first gate of the fortress.
The guards that were hidden among the walls and defenses saw it was just them and let them through without issue, a fact that repeated till they were well into the fortress and before long they'd entered a great throne room and despite the ice that made up a good portion of the room, it wasn't uncomfortably cold. However, that wasn't the most notable thing there. No, that honor would belong to the occupant of the throne that was nothing short of gigantic.
He had the appearance of a man, albeit one wearing shamanistic clothing, with leather shoulder pads and pants, a black bodysuit, a necklace with a large mirror looking object hanging in the middle of his chest, teal colored fur pelts wrapped around his forearms and lower legs, the head of the same animal that gave the pelts acting like a helmet for him and covering the upper half of his face, with his long green hair falling out the back, a large sword sheathed on his back.
"Lord Mercurymon," both of them said bowing before the ruler of this Region.
"Ah yes. NoblePumpmon and Meteormon," Mercurymon said with a pleased nod. "I see you have returned from the task I sent you on."
Digimon Analyzer: Mercurymon
Mercurymon. Virus Type. An Ultimate Level God Man Digimon. A member of the Olympos 12, he is a Digimon of good ingenuity, and one of the fastest in the Digital World, to the point that some say every recorded image of him in history is nothing but an afterimage. There are many speculations surrounding the pelt that he wears, many curious about which Digimon it originates from, but most agree that whatever it was, it has likely been completely erased from the Digital World. His special attacks are Thousand Fist, unleashing a massive barrage of punches at lightning speed, and Spiritual Enchant, summoning apparitions with his weapon, Aztec.
Digimon Analyzer: NoblePumpmon
NoblePumpmon. Data Type. An Ultimate Level Puppet Digimon. A Pumpmon that has grown in maturity, while still retaining some of his mischievous streak, donning the garbs of a nobleman, yet remaining down to earth and friendly to all. Using his staff, the Wassamu Ring Jack, he can create most anything he wants, though he prefers to make pumpkin dishes for those he befriends. His special attacks are Trick or Treat Wallace, making gigantic pumpkin shaped bombs in the air and blowing them up, and Atlantic Dam, pouring boiling hot pumpkin soup down the enemy's gullet until they… pop. Gruesome.
Digimon Analyzer: Meteormon
Meteormon. Data Type. a Perfect Level Ore Digimon. A higher leveled form of Gotsumon that absorbed data on meteors, changing his mineral composition. He is made from materials only found in space, and possesses powerful defensive abilities. His special attacks are Cosmo Flash, summoning up cosmic energy to create a meteor shower, and Big Bang Blow, hitting the opponent with an explosive punch.
"I've kept an eye on them, and even tossed a few roadblocks for them, but they kept their cool well enough," NoblePumpmon reported. "It seems their leader is interested in the prospect of forming an alliance with you my Lord, and considering the state of Remnant...I can't say I blame him."
Mercurymon nodded. "Yes, that seems to line up with what Mervamon's sources have reported."
"What are your orders? What shall we do with them?" Meteormon asked.
Mercurymon seemed to think about it for a moment. Eventually… "Let them come," he said. "If they indeed wish to form an alliance, I shall hear them out. But if they prove to have evil intentions...you all know what to do," he said, his tone that of finality, while the two Digimon and several others hidden in the room nodded with grim expressions. Even if the Olympos 12 were open to the idea of more contact with the world of Remnant, ultimately their own world came first.
And that's the chapter!
Yep, we've got Mercurymon making a surprise appearance... along with showing off a certain bastard I'm sure many Digimon fans will recognize.
And we're using some of the more recent Digimon from the franchise as well, like Baboongamon, who only debued this year.
We figured it would be a fitting spot to have it appear.
Other than that... yeah, Yang flying like Iron Man... and a little mention of one of my favorite fics on here.
Anyway, hope you all enjoyed, and see you next time!
