Good to see everyone again, how you all doing?

Hope you're doing well... because this chapter's not gonna be for those with a bad day.

Yeah shit gets pretty crazy in this one, so you've been warned.

Shadow Waves of Madness

A week soon passed after the failed attempt at capturing the three Ultimates that the trouble maker trio had apparently grown up to become, and ever since then...things had been...hectic...to say the least.

How hectic? Hectic enough that they had to deploy more than one team in one shot. Multiple times. It was like Nero had suddenly decided to have his army work overtime, attacking various locations and the like. Fortunately so far they'd managed to repel all of them with the help of the Rebellion.

But even with that, it was to see…

"I REALLY hope we can catch a break today…" Jaune groaned into the table.

They were dead tired.

"Seriously...what the heck is Nero after suddenly going crazy with the attacks like this?" Terriermon groaned.

"I know right? Even if he's got a big army, he's losing his forces everytime he throws them at us," Gomamon groaned.

"Considering we were able to repel all of them, you'd think he'd realize whatever he's doing it...it isn't working," Weiss agreed, looking just as tired.

"Unless his plan is to tire us out that is…" Blake groaned, taking another sip of coffee. Yeah, it was getting to the point they were needing an extra coffee intake to work through the exhaustion.

"I'm sorely tempted to call Summer and see if she can't lock him up in something for at LEAST a day as Sakuyamon." Gyro sighed.

"Honestly I'm considering we try it." Ruby admitted, before looking over at Emerald, who'd been rather silent so far, laying down on the couch, her silver visor over her eyes… before she narrowed her eyes a bit "Wait a minute…" she muttered, going towards the mint haired girl, and slowly lifted the visor up… to see her eyes were closed, and her breathing had evened out "Huh… lucky her, she's getting at least SOME minutes of sleep." she muttered, before putting the visor back in place.

"Honestly? Maybe we should try following her example before-" Salamon started...right before the alarm started blaring, causing everyone to jump, and Emerald to wake up with a start. "...that happens…" Salamon finished lamely.

"Oren, would you mind if I choked the life out of Nero next time we see him?" Emerald asked dryly.

"I wouldn't have particularly minded before, I especially don't mind right now," Oren groaned, looking as tired as everyone else.

"Alright, where is he THIS time?" Weiss muttered as she got to the computer and tapped away, before her face instantly became serious "He's on File."

THAT snapped everyone out of their tiredness on the spot "Let's go! Move it people! All hands on deck!" Gyro said quickly.

"No need to tell us twice! No way we're letting THIS stand!" Agumon agreed with his partner.

Everyone nodded at that, and completely ignoring the usual procedure, all of them soon entered the gate to the Digital World, intent on protecting File Island once again.

"And so the next step is going as planned," Nero mused with a slight smirk as he worked on the console before him, analyzing a number of things. "How goes progress on our other preparations?"

"Everything is going according to plan, give or take," came a female voice as two figures came up behind him. One of them was revealed to be the man who'd helped him capture the remnant of Etemon, while the other was a woman with long silver hair, wearing a red dress over her body with a sort of short cape over her back a purple belt around her waist, along with purple gloves and boots, she had a pair of purple sunglasses in her hand, which she soon put over her sharp, red eyes, most of her face shadowed by the tall, wide rimmed red and purple hat on top of her head. "Collection of the data parts are proceeding well and construction of the project is well underway."

"And our other preparations?" Nero asked.

"They're whipped up real good, boss," the man smirked. "Completely under control and ready to move out at the next order."

"Excellent so it seems that all that's left is to find our key in," Nero smirked.

"Hey uh...Boss?" the man started. "Not that I think this ain't gonna work, but do you HAVE to get that place?"

Nero looked over at him, raising an eyebrow "Why do you ask?"

"Well… it's in THAT area of all places. I know your Digivice comes from it, but… it just feels a bit dangerous." the man admitted.

Nero hummed at his words "Well, I can see where your concern is coming from. No need to worry though, I've studied up plenty on it. None of the dangers from it can stand up to us. Besides, in case those idiots actually manage to stop our Plan A, it would be a nice alternative hidden base while we run through Plan B."

"As expected from you, Sir," the woman chuckled. "Indeed, strategically speaking THAT place benefits us far more, so it would be in our favor to acquire it."

"Not just that, if we can get that place, it'll be a real home field advantage to us. The Dark Towers are great, but they're way too fragile. I need a base that isn't going to fall apart from losing a few support pillars," Nero chuckled as he continued examining some data. "And besides, as long as its part of this world I MUST have it."

"When you put it that way, then guess there's nothing to do but get it at full force," the man chuckled, before he smirked. "Okay then, just focus on getting us a way in. I'll make sure we got an army that can take that place by force."

"Likewise I'll be sure to make our project work at optimum capacity. It'll be a citadel worthy of an Emperor like yourself," the woman chuckled.

"Excellent. Knowing I have two reliable subordinates like you makes me very pleased," Nero smirked. "Speaking of pleased, I believe its time we collected our critical piece of data, as well as the final bit of 'food' for my D-Shadow."

With that said he got out of his seat and soon walked out of the room. It was time to pay the field another visit, and no doubt his brother and his annoying friends too.

The group soon appeared on File Island, and when they landed, they could immediately see their destination. "Hey, isn't that the Royal Airbase?" Wormmon said in alarm.

True enough, the base that the Fanbeemon had been building and had finished while they weren't around, was docked in the docks area of File City...and was very much under attack by many flying Digimon, all of which were giving off the signals of a Dark Ring/Spiral.

"Nothing to be questioned here. Let's go!" Pierce said, earning nods as everyone.

"No Dark Tower signals detected!" Oren added. "We can fight at any level we want."

"Ultimate is overkill and it could destroy the city too. We'd better stick to Perfect at most," Ruby said.

"Right, that should be good enough for this," Aile said.

"Though in my case, I think we should stick to Armor," Rusty sweat dropped a bit.

With that in agreement, everyone triggered the Evolution to the level they desired, and before long the group was making their way towards the Royal Airbase. Once they were at a close enough range, they made their presence known in the best way possible. With a barrage of attacks aimed to preemptively take out as many of the enemy forces as possible.

Yeah, they were gettin way too used to his sequence.

The sudden attack caused the army to falter, needing a moment to process the sudden arrivals. Of course, they didn't take long and quickly shifted their attention to the Chosen who were clearly a bigger threat right now, especially as the partner Digimon opened fire again, with Ruby sniping at the various Dark Rings present.

However, in shifting their attention from the Royal Airbase, little did the Digimon realize they'd made a big mistake, as with the lul in the attack, a hatch opened, and something shot out of the hatch, seemingly passing through the crowds of Digimon, before suddenly their Rings fell off having been cut off with great precision.

"What was that?!" Nora gasped in surprise.

"Over there!" MetalGreymon said, seeing what the blur apparently was, revealing to be a humanoid shaped Digimon with a golden yellow body, covered in black stripes, looking to be all completely metallic as it even had exhausts coming out of its arms, its head shaped much like a wasps own, and holding a pair of yellow and black rapiers in its hands.

"You shall not have our glorious base!" the Digimon shouted as he kept striking at any Dark Rings and Dark Spirals that got close to him.

Ren stared at the Digimon in surprise "That's… Waspmon!"

"Wait, what? You sure?" Gyro asked him.

"I'm positive… this must be his Ultimate Level." Ren nodded.

Weiss hummed, bringing up the analyzer, before she nodded "Looks like you're right, that's TigerVespamon."

Digimon Analyzer: TigerVespamon

TigerVespamon. Virus Type. An Ultimate Level Cyborg Digimon. The strongest guardian of the Royal Base, acting as the final line of defense against invaders, as should he fall, nothing can stop the enemy at that point. Upon reaching this great rank, he was awarded with his weapons, the Royal Meister, to wield against all enemies to their glorious home. Special attacks are Mach Stinger V, striking the opponent multiple times with both weapons at high speed, and Gear Stinger, firing off the tips of his fingers like guns at the enemy.

TigerVespamon continued to cut his way through the attacking army, breaking the Rings one after another. He was fully focused on dealing with the invaders, so much so he didn't seem to notice the Chosen who were...kind of just watching.

"Normally I'd say we should help, but...he's really got it covered," Ruby sweat dropped.

"Yeah, look at him go," Jaune chuckled a bit awkwardly.

"Try to stay out of his way everyone!" Gyro called to the Digimon who all nodded in understanding and kept an eye on TigerVespamon to make sure they weren't in his path.

With their combined efforts, more and more Rings and Spirals were destroyed, the speed of the destruction picking up as with each Digimon that was freed, they gained a new ally that helped take out more of the control devices.

"This is...suspiciously easy," Blake frowned.

"Normally I'd say don't jinx it, but I can't argue there," HolyAngemon frowned as he cut another Digimon free from a Dark Ring.

"That….just makes this a lot more worrying," Weiss frowned.

"So be on guard?" AtlurKabuterimon frowned.

"Probably the best thing we CAN do," Pyrrha nodded.

The battle continued for a while, the number of Dark Rings dropping at an increasing rate. However, before they could completely eliminate the Dark Rings, several explosions went off around them.

"What the-?!" came the shocked gasps from everyone present.

"Well, well, I see you're all having fun again, aren't you?" came a rather unwelcome voice as they all looked up, seeing Nero sitting on his flying throne, looking down at them with a smirk while several Airdramon controlled by Dark Rings flew around him "Children can never stop playing with their toys, can they?"

"Says the literal manchild who's playing at king and turning everyone into his puppets!" Gyro shouted up at him in annoyance.

Nero simply laughed "Oh but I'm not just PLAYING a King. Unlike my idiot brother, I AM a King, one who will conquer all the land he sees!"

"Then we have very different definitions of the word 'King'." Oren said with a frown as he glared up at his twin.

"Clearly we do," Nero smirked. "And that's exactly why I will have everything in my hands soon enough."

"I'd like to see you try when we're through with you!" Zudomon said.

"I'll be more than happy to punt you through the air again!" Rapidmon added.

"You will not have the Digital World!" TigerVespamon added, pointing his blade at Nero.

"On the contrary, I will," Nero smirked, before pressing a button on his throne. The moment he did, over a dozen Dark Spirals were released from his throne, all of them flying towards the group.

"Incoming Spirals!" MetalGreymon shouted as everyone opened fire. However, the Spirals actually seemed to move about, as if trying to evade the attacks. As a result, while several of the Dark Spirals were destroyed, about 10 of them survived, and with another press of a button, they suddenly gained an increased speed and before anyone could properly react, they all affixed themselves onto TigerVespamon.

"...THAT can't be good," Pyrrha gulped.

TigerVespamon suddenly seized up, before roaring in pain as the Dark Spirals started sparking all over his body, falling to his knees as suddenly started thrashing about.

Nero hummed, bringing out his Scroll and looking at the screen on it "I see… ah, that makes sense…" he muttered, before smirking "Well, it's not what I hoped for, but at least this finally tells me what I needed to know." he chuckled.

"I'd question what that nut case is babbling about but we've annoyingly got bigger problems," WereGarurumon frowned.

"Everyone, GET THOSE SPIRALS OFF OF HIM!" JewelBeemon declared.

The group all nodded in agreement as they focused on TigerVespamon. The Ultimate thrashed around like crazy, making approaching him difficult.

"Guess we don't have a choice. Sorry in advance!" MetalGreymon said as he fired his Giga Destroyer. However, even while in a frenzied state it seemed TigerVespamon had all his skill...evident by the two missiles being abruptly cut in half.

"Okay if projectiles don't work, try this on for size!" AtlurKabuterimon said, firing his Horn Buster at TigerVespamon.

"I'll help too!" Silphymon said, firing Top Gun at the same time.

Due to the struggle against the Dark Spirals, fortunately it seemed TigerVespamon wasn't moving too much from his current position beyond thrashing around. However, even so that did little to help, as his weapons flashed in response to the incoming attacks, and the attacks were promptly slashed into data scraps.

"...okay, I don't think Perfect level is going to cut it anymore," Angewomon sweat dropped at seeing the attacks taken out just like that.

"Gear Stinger!" TigerVespamon roared, firing his attack wildly, causing more explosions in the area while the group was forced to either dodge or shoot down the attacks to make them explode prematurely. Fortunately the Airbase had the time to bring up a shield so while it didn't take any serious damage from the attack, it was still violently shaken from the attack.

"If we can't destroy the Spirals like this then we'll need to at least hold him down somehow!" Gyro growled.

"We're on it!" Ren said as he held up his D-Crest. This was something they'd discovered a while back, but it made sense seeing as in the end all Warp Evolution was was quickly evolving through their levels before reaching their Ultimate level. Naturally that meant THIS was perfectly possible too. "Let's go, JewelBeemon!"

"Ready anytime!" JewelBeemon nodded as the D-Crest shined brightly.

"JewelBeemon, Ultimate Evolution!" JewelBeemon called out as a large image of the Crest of Kindness appeared under him, before several golden rings rose up from it, transforming him as they passed him, revealing what appeared to be a transparent blue version of his Ultimate form, before a single large ring descended, filling in the blanks, and before long, GrandisKuwagamon stood ready. "GrandisKuwagamon!"

GrandisKuwagamon surged forward, while TigerVespamon in his frenzied state tried to attack him as he approached. However, GrandisKuwagamon moved faster and managed to catch the two energy blades, stopping them in their tracks. The two Ultimates struggled to gain an advantage, before with a shout, GrandisKuwagamon headbutted TigerVespamon right in the face, causing him to reel back, and lose his grip on his weapons, allowing GrandisKuwagamon to throw them aside. Acting quickly, he got behind TigerVespamon and got him into a full nelson hold.

"Do it now!" GrandisKuwagamon shouted, shifting their position so that now TigerVespamon was facing the others and unable to move even as he struggled.

"Let's do it, but don't OVER do it!" Jaune shouted.

"In that case time for some precision strikes." Angewomon said as she prepared an arrow.

"None of the big guys can help with this then." Sylphimon chuckled as energy charged in his hands.

"Then I have just the thing to help." Papillonmon said as she released her reflective scales, angling them in a certain way around the two Ultimates, with one mirror in front of the three Perfects "Concentrate your attacks through this one with me." she said as light gathered in her sleeve "Kaleidoscope Reflector!"

"Ah, I see the plan." Angewomon smirked as she pulled back "Holy Arrow!"

"Simple but effective." Sylphimon added with a nod as he brought his hands together "Top Gun!"

The three attacks flew into the first scale, before being focused together into a single attack that bounced to the next scale, angled in a way that it scraped right against one of the Dark Spirals just enough to shatter it, before being bounced to the next scale, the process continuing with the attack moving all around the two Ultimates and taking out the Dark Spirals one by one.

Before long all of the Spirals were hit and with each of them broken, TigerVespamon was able to regain control of himself more and more, his struggles lessening before finally all of them shattered. Once the last Spiral was gone, GrandisKuwagamon let go of him, leaving him to fall to the ground, albeit at a safe pace, and sink to his knees, panting tiredly. "Thank you…" TigerVespamon groaned.

"Are you alright?" Ren asked, even if it was admittedly a bit of a rhetorical question.

"I wouldn't say 'alright', but I'll live," TigerVespamon sighed.

"That's good." Ren sighed in relief.

He wasn't too keen on seeing a Digimon that reminded him so much of his father dying a second time.

The group then heard a slow, sarcastic clap coming from up in the air, turning to see Nero staring down at them with a smirk on his face "Bravo. Truly a touching victory for you lot, isn't it?"

Ruby's eyes narrowed, before quickly bringing up Crescent Rose X and firing a bullet right at his forehead.

Nero didn't even budge as the bullet hit against his forehead, only to be stopped by a visible sheen of black Aura that appeared briefly as he chuckled "Nice try I suppose, but I'm not such a slouch that I wouldn't expect something like that."

Ruby clicked her teeth "Worth a shot."

"Even though I think we all expected either him having an aura or just a straight up forcefield on his throne." Weiss muttered.

"What the hell do you even want? You've clearly lost at this point." Emerald shouted up to him.

"We've taken out all the Digimon you controlled, and I'm sure even you can't just carry an infinite amount of Rings and Spirals." Oscar added.

Nero started to laugh at that, for a good few seconds even, before he soon got his mirth under control "Well, you're right about one thing, I don't carry nearly THAT many Dark Rings and Dark Spirals." he said, before gaining a victorious smirk "But… this ISN'T a loss for me." he said, before they all heard a small explosion come from the royal base, a hole being blown out in one of the walls, before a few small bird shaped drones flew out, landing on the arms of his throne "I found just what I was looking for from those damnable bees."

"If that's the case, you cannot be allowed to leave!" TigerVespamon growled, trying to get up with somewhat limited success.

"Admirable determination I suppose. Sadly for you, it's already too late to stop me," Nero chuckled.

"Really now? We may have just been through a fight, but we're more than able to stop you right here, right now," Pierce glared at Nero.

"Because while all of you were running ragged, I was moving forward on a plan that will be instrumental for my victory!" Nero said, his face twisting to reveal the insanity that was his true self, before he stood up and pulled out his D-Shadow. The moment the dark Digivice was revealed, it started to glow ominously before a dark orb emerged from it which soon expanded above him, forming a large circle with runes and symbols that just SCREAMED 'ritual'. "Up till now I've been unable to defeat you because my Digivice hadn't revealed its true power! But now I've gotten the pieces I need to finally even the score!" he declared, as around the circle at five points, what appeared to be sphere-like cages appeared, revealing 5 Digimon inside, each of them looking transparent, and one even glitching pretty badly, but who they were was unmistakable.

"Devimon!" HolyAngemon growled at seeing their first real enemy.

"Etemon?!" AeroVeedramon gasped at the sight of the monkey.

"Puppetmon…" Ren said with a narrowed gaze at the sight of the deranged childish puppet.

"MetalSeadramon too." Ruby frowned at the metallic sea serpent.

"He's even got Piedmon… or what's left of him." Pyrrha winced at the sight of the heavily glitching Piedmon.

"I see you recognize all of them. As great as they might have been once, they are all ultimately failures who couldn't defeat you. However, rather than let them go to waste, I decided they can at least serve a greater purpose as part of my soon to be new power!" Nero laughed.

"New power this!" Rapidmon snarled, shooting forward, aiming to disrupt the ritual Nero was preparing. However, as he got close, suddenly arcs of dark lightning appeared and struck him, causing him to shout in pain as he was thrown back.

"Oh I'm sorry, did you really think I wouldn't have precautions in the event anyone tried anything clever?" Nero smirked. "Now, fallen evil Digimon, become power for me Digivice, and grant to me, the ultimate power of darkness!" he said, right as the D-Shadow glowed ominously and out from it emerged tendrils that aimed at each of the remnants, before the ends of the tendrils manifested gaping mouths that opened wide...and descended on the cages, devouring all five of the evil Digimon savagely, mercilessly tearing apart at the cages and the Digimon trapped inside, bits of data flying everywhere as they did.

The sight was enough to make Blake and Aile look green and even hold their mouths to try and keep the bile down. Nero however just grinned as he watched his Digivice gorge on the evil Digimon, all of their remaining power being drained into his D-Shadow, and eventually the feast was done, and the circle glowed ominously. It soon turned fully dark and folded in, the D-Shadow floating up from Nero's hand, and the circle soon flowed into it. Once the energy was fully absorbed once more, dark smoke came out of the D-Shadow as cracks started to form on it, before in a burst of dark energy, it broke apart, everyone forced to shield their eyes from the burst that it created, but when they saw it again, they saw a new Digivice now in Nero's hand.

Correction, it was now ON his hand, seeing as it had transformed into a gauntlet-like device. Black in color with glowing red and purple circuitry lines on it, several buttons visible on it, and a screen near the wrist that was surrounded by a gold colored ring with spikes pointing inside, as if it was imitating a mouth with a sharp row of teeth. However, most notable was the dark aura that was nearly constantly emanating from it, and from the looks of it, the effect was spreading.

Nero however didn't seem the least bit perturbed by the dark aura and just laughed as he felt its energy fill him as well. His aura appeared around him, the dark smoke travelling up his arm and soon caused his entire aura to change, becoming a sickly purple in color, the changes continuing till they reached his head, and seeped into his eyes, their color bleeding out from the center of his iris and going from yellow to a bloody red, his face turning into a devilish smirk, while his eyes gained a dark aura not dissimilar to a Maiden's eyes...but very much corrupted.

Nero chuckled before it turned into full on maniacal laughter. "Yes, this is it! This is your true power and what a power it is! It was worth the wait, my D-Shadow...no...a more suitable name is needed. Yes, I know just the name. Welcome, my D-Necron!"

"What the hell is wrong with that Digivice?" Gyro said, able to feel the dark aura emanating from the device all the way down here.

"D-Necron… kinda like the Necronomicon." Pierce frowned "Something tells me that would be bad."

"What I want to know is what the hell it did to his aura. It feels all wrong now." Jaune said in a bit of concern, mostly because he was worried about it's dark aura affecting them too if they got too close.

"Whatever it is, the only thing I know for sure is we can't just let him run around with that thing!" Weiss frowned.

"She's right. Everyone, we've gotta take him out now!" Oren agreed.

With that said, everyone, Digimon and Chosen alike opened fire (well at least those who had a ranged weapon), aiming to take out Nero before he could put his new Digivice to use. Excessive? Maybe. But they were NOT taking chances with someone who'd managed to corrupt a Digivice like that.

"Nice try, but not fast enough!" Nero laughed, before the dark aura became stronger, followed by an arcane looking circle appearing before him which glowed briefly before turning into a portal of some kind that started to suck things in from around it, including the attacks that were flying towards him. "I'd love to stick around and play, but I've got a BIG fish to fry," Nero chuckled as he entered the portal.

"You're not getting away!" Gyro growled as he and MetalGreymon charged forward.

"Don't charge ahead without us!" Pyrrha said as before long everyone charged in as well, all of them going through the portal, not intending to let Nero escape.

The group fell out of the portal, hitting the ground with several grunts, though they thankfully hadn't fallen for long.

Once they got up… they could immediately tell something was off.

It was like the whole atmosphere around them was… darker. Like the world had been desaturated a little.

"Where… are we?" WereGarurumon questioned, looking around in confusion.

"I… I don't know." AtlurKabuterimon admitted "This doesn't feel right somehow."

Angewomon and HolyAngemon both shivered "I think… we know where we are." the female angel said.

"This dark, dead feeling… I think we're in the Dark Area," HolyAngemon answered.

"That's...bad, right?" Emerald gulped.

"Very," Weiss said. "The Dark Area is essentially like the Dark Web on Remnant, and for good reason. This part of the Digital World is where most of the negative energy is focused, and as a result, a spawning ground for some of the worst and/or most dangerous Digimon to roam the Digital World. And as if THAT wasn't enough, its said that this place may also be a prison for the Digimon who were literally too dangerous to be left to roam free, yet too powerful to kill...though I sincerely HOPE that one is just a rumor…"

Emerald gulped thickly at that, the gravity of where they apparently were setting in...before a scary thought came to her. "But...if we came here because of that portal Nero made...why does HE want to be here?"

THAT question made everyone stop short...and after a moment to consider...everyone paled. That...was a very scary thing to consider, especially realizing that whatever Nero had planned, it couldn't be good.

"Okay, we need to find him ASAP, and I know we were probably thinking it before, but now I think we can all agree that there's really only one cure for Nero," Gyro said.

"He's about to try and use the Dark Area for one of his schemes. He's beyond crazy," Rapidmon said.

WereGarurumon brought himself low to the ground, starting to sniff a bit "I think… I can make out his scent just a bit… but I can also smell… the ocean?"

"Lead the way then, you've got the best nose here." Zudomon said, receiving a nod from the werewolf before he walked ahead of the group at a hurried pace while the others kept up with him.

The area around them was just… barren at the start, nothing around for a good few minutes, until they entered a forest, and they could hear the sound of waves faintly, continuing on ahead through the trees until they broke through, and saw…

"Well… that's the ocean alright… not a pretty one though." Vanguamon said as they looked at the greyish colored waves rolling over the vast ocean before them.

The group all looked around after that, before Yang turned her head to the side, looking up, and gasped "There he is!" she said, pointing upwards, causing everyone to look in the same direction to see Nero standing on his floating throne just above the ocean.

Nero however didn't seem to acknowledge them, nor was he even aware they were there. Instead, his gaze was firmly on the ocean, before he raised his D-Necron again. "After all this time, finally the time has come!" he declared, before the D-Necron released powerful pulses of dark energy, while at the same time three massive portals appeared near him, and from them a large number of figures slowly rose out, revealing an army of tall creatures with long arms, their bodies a dark, reddish brown color with brown fur as well, spikes coming out their shoulders, strange white helmets on top of their heads that sported three horns and a fanged grin on them, with long green ears falling down the sides of their heads, their faces rather… strange, to say the least.

"What are those?" Lillymon asked.

Andiramon's eyes narrowed as he looked at the army "In a way… those are all me."

"What do you mean?" Ruby asked him.

"Those are all Wendigomon… the Dark Evolution of Lopmon." Rapidmon answered.

Digimon Analyzer: Wendigomon

Wendigomon. Virus Type. An Adult Level Beast Man Digimon. Once a kind and gentle Digimon, Dark Evolution caused it to become this brutal and hate filled beast. It's said to have the ability to warp around by passing through other dimensions of reality, making it a rather tricky opponent. Special attack is Destroyed Voice, howling out a destructive soundwave.

"Let's just say they're part of a… bad memory we'd rather forget." Oren winced.

"Gotcha, not gonna ask about it," MetalGreymon winced.

"Hey, something else is coming through those portals!" Garudamon said, drawing their attention, as from each of the portals emerged a single figure, standing in front of the armies like a general. The figures slowly came into view revealing…

"Okay, now that guy is just going out of his way to copy Oren," Rapidmon growled. The reason being that the first of the three figures was literally a black armored copy of himself with darker colored fur beneath the armor, so BlackRapidmon obviously.

"He's not just copying Oren though." Penny noted, pointing out the other two figures, a black colored MegaloGrowlmon, and a lavender colored Taomon.

"Those are BlackMegaloGrowlmon and Doumon… that first name's a mouthful." Cyberdramon muttered at the end.

"You think that's bad, I'll show you some Battle Spirits cards later." Pierce said dryly.

"That actually makes me worried," Cyberdramon deadpanned.

"Either way, he's got a pretty big army, but I think we can still take them," Nora said.

"Seeing as GrandisKuwagamon is still here, I think we can all go Ultimate," AeroVeedramon nodded.

"Uh...you might want to hold that thought," Keenan frowned. "Something else is coming," he said. At that everyone was at attention, but rather than another portal appearing, instead the seas started to stir.

"Oh boy...that's not good…" Jaune winced.

"Yeah, this is a horror movie coming to life right here…" Zudomon winced in agreement.

"And there's no doubt that whatever comes out of that ocean is going to be trouble…" Ruby said, gulping a little as the waters became more violent and started to swell, right as something broke the surface.

Gyro's eyes went wide "Oh FUCK you Lovecraft for making this possible."

The thing was… it was Cthulhu, there really was no other way of saying it. It was a blue colored Cthulhu with markings on its head, red wings on its back, and its limbs were masses of tentacles held together by various types of bindings, from rings, to chains and even belts, and in one of those limbs it was holding a large silver trident.

"What Digimon is that?" Silphymon gulped thickly.

"I...I don't know. I've never seen anything like it before!" Weiss gasped, frantically looking through her Analyzer, but nothing.

The answer to their question though came from an unexpected source, as Nero was laughing maniacally at the sight of the massive Digimon. "Finally...after all this time, we meet again...Dagomon!"

Digimon Analyzer: Dagomon

Dagomon. Virus Type. A Perfect Level Aquatic Beast Man Digimon. WARNING! DO NOT EVER INTERACT WITH THIS DIGIMON! RUN AWAY SHOULD YOU ENCOUNTER IT! Known as the Sinful Priest of the Ocean Floor, it is said that hearing this Digimon's voice is able to cause lesser beings to go mad. Rumors say it is connected to darker, and far more ancient beings than it. Speci-hoiwhekreknvoiaysoenvewer! Error! Error! Data corrupted! Emergency reboo-!

"And this time...this time things will be VERY different," Nero said with a savage grin.

Dagomon looked at Nero and its eyes seemed to narrow, before it...well...the Chosen assumed it began to speak, but what came out of its mouth…

"The hell is that noise?!" Gyro gasped through grinded teeth.

"Stop drilling my brain!" MetalGreymon gasped, doing his best to cover his ears, but it wasn't doing much good, a feeling all of them were experiencing, before all the Digimon save GrandisKuwagamon reverted to Child level from the sheer mind splitting pain that just hearing whatever...language...if it could be called that...that Dagomon used was causing them.

"Whatever that...Dagomon...is, its not something we're going to be able to face unprepared," GrandisKuwagamon groaned. Even if he managed to remain in his current form, just hearing that voice made Etemon's songs sound like the voice of angels.

"We need to find a way out of here quickly." Oren said seriously as he recovered from the headache the voice had caused "Weiss, give me a hand."

"Of course." she nodded as the two brought out their scrolls.

"Here, use ours too, more processing power that way." Nora said as she pulled hers out, the others doing the same and handing them over to the two.

"Allow me to help as well." Penny said, cracking her fingers… except they actually extended and split into multiple smaller digits.

Pierce and Gyro both stared for a long moment, before slowly turning to Ruby, who looked away with a whistle, all but confirming this was indeed HER idea.

"But before you start hacking our way out of this crazy place, let's NOT be near the mind breaking octopus," Jaune suggested.

"Good point. Fuck whatever Nero's doing, let's just focus on getting out of here." Gyro said.

"Hold on." Emerald said, reaching into her pocket and pulling something out "I swiped these from a camera store once." she said as she held up a miniature camera "Maybe we could leave one behind?" she suggested.

"Already connected to it. Slap it to a tree, near the ground, we'll review what it got later. And make sure it's muted of course." Weiss said, Emerald nodding before placing the camera near the base of a tree before the group ran back into the woods, the three tech experts quickly getting to work on finding a way back to the proper Digital World.

As that was happening, Nero was not only in Dagomon's presence. He was straight up standing up. Dagomon seemed somewhat surprised at this development, which made Nero's smirk grow. "Don't think I'm the same as before. I've taken more than a few precautions since last time, and this time I'm going to take you down!" he grinned before raising his D-Necron, dark energy arcing and striking the platforms which broke apart, becoming a floating platform for each of the Wendigomon. "Now...DESTROY HIM!" Nero roared, the Wendigomon charging forward on their platforms.

Dagomon let out a shout, which caused the Chosen who while they'd gotten some distance, were still within rough hearing range, to grit their teeth in pain. However, to Dagomon's surprise, the Wendigomon weren't affected in the least.

"Surprised? That scream of yours may mess up the minds of lesser beings, but that's exactly why I REMOVED that from the equation," Nero laughed. Getting the Dark Rings to THIS setting was annoying, but it was well WORTH the effort to have a completely mindless army that would completely and utterly obey him.

Dagomon glared at Nero, before they raised their arm, and from the dark waters, indescribable humanoid figures emerged from the waters and as if by unseen forces, actually met the Wendigomon and fought them head on. The Wendigomon were more numerous, but the humanoid figures were stronger, as one after another the Wendigomon were deleted, though not before being able to take out some of their enemies as well, making the battle more or less even.

Nero smirked in amusement. "So you DID have an army of your own. I probably should have expected as much," he said. It was a surprise...but not nearly enough to truly surprise him. Instead he snapped his fingers to which the Wendigomon let loose their special attacks, barraging their enemies with the destructive sounds, causing several of them to break down into dark wisps in a way that wasn't too dissimilar from Grimm.

Dagomon snarled at the sight of his army being cut down, before lashing out with his tentacles which seemed to extend and multiply, striking at the Wendigomon, deleting them instantly, and thus cutting down Nero's army to a good 20 or less Wendigomon.

Nero simply smirked at the sight of his army being cut down "My my, you certainly put quite the resistance there." he said before laughing "This will just make my victory all the sweeter. Go!" he suddenly declared, before his three Perfects finally moved.

At a wave of Nero's hand, the remaining Wendigomon charged forward, attacking Dagomon, but the gigantic Digimon swatted them aside. However, in doing so, suddenly its tentacles were covered in red charms which ignited and exploded, forcing it to recoil, and from the smoke, BlackMegaloGrowlmon surged forward and struck one of Dagomon's arms with his arm blades, severing the arm cleanly. Dagomon roared in pain, right as BlackRapidmon got in front of it and fired a Golden Triangle, pushing it back.

"How's that for an attack you overgrown calamari?" Nero sneered with a cruel smirk "I've got plenty more where that came from too. Keep attacking!"

And attack they did, BlackRapidmon, Doumon, and BlackMegaloGrowlmon continuing their attacks while the remaining Wendigomon joined in as well. Dagomon seemed to be getting pushed back for a moment...before it let out a feral roar, the damage it had been dealt abruptly regenerating before it hurled its trident, breaking right through the attacks, and crashing into the Wendigomon, deleting them instantly, while the shockwave of the attack sent the three Perfects reeling back, before landing on the ground, having taken damage from the shockwave alone.

"Tch. Guess you wouldn't be the ruler of this area if you went down THAT easily," Nero growled, calling up some screens that monitored the state of three Digimon. Thinking quickly, he smirked when he came up with a plan and directed the three to get up. BlackRapidmon suddenly flew quickly towards Dagomon and started flying around his face, prompting Dagomon to lash out, but BlackRapidmon continued to weave through the attacks as he continued futilely attacking.

As that was happening, the Chosen had been watching. "What the heck is he thinking? That's suicide," Terriermon frowned.

"Considering how little he cares about his forces? I wouldn't put suicide attacks past him," Lopmon growled.

"Yeah, when you put it that way, I can see it too," Terriermon said with a twitching eyebrow. First the Wendigomon bit the dust and now it looked like BlackRapidmon would be joining them. Heck, he wouldn't be surprised if Nero was probably imagining that it was him and Lopmon getting killed for his sake.

Back at the battle, BlackRapidmon continued to keep Dagomon's attention, the fast Digimon proving to be quite annoying, while Doumon helped give some support, further annoying the powerful Digimon. Dagomon would have dealt with Doumon, but BlackRapidmon proved very adept at being an extreme annoyance, so much so Dagomon decided to deal with him first above the others.

As the fight continued, Dagomon noticed that BlackRapidmon seemed to be moving in a certain pattern, not to mention as time went on, he seemed to be slowing down. At that realization, Dagomon started timing carefully, and when the timing came, the tentacles lashed out again, and this time they pierced right through BlackRapidmon, fatally injuring the Digimon. Dagomon seemed to smirk at this...right before a pulse traveled through BlackRapidmon, revealing that he was COVERED in Doumon's tags. The smirk turned into a surprised look, as BlackRapidmon exploded with enough force that the shockwave was felt by the Chosen where they were trying to find a way back to the normal Digital World.

"Welp… I think that just proves he was thinking of you two this whole time." Morphomon said nervously to the twin rabbits who both blanched a little.

"Didn't think he was going to turn one of them into a suicide bomber?" Veemon winced.

"Far from it. I thought he was just going to have it die, period." Lopmon admitted.

"In that case, let's work on getting out of here before the maniac realises we came in here after him, yeah?" Monodramon urged their tech experts, who gave him a look before they hurried nonetheless.

Back at the fight again, Dagomon staggered back, the explosion having done sizable damage. However, with BlackRapidmon out of the picture, Dagomon now glared angrily at Nero who seemed not the least bit worried, even smirking a bit wider at the damage that had been dealt to Dagomon. Dagomon however clearly did not appreciate Nero's attitude and reared back its tentacles to deliver its equivalent of a punch that would have seen Nero a smear on the ground. However, before the arm could reach Nero, it suddenly impacted against a barrier, Doumon now floating by Nero's side, clearly more than a little winded, but before Dagomon could pull the arm back, several tags attached to it, causing it to freeze up, Dagomon struggling to pull it away.

"Checkmate," Nero smirked, before he shifted his throne aside...revealing BlackMegaloGrowlmon with his Atomic Blaster fully charged. The moment Nero and Doumon were out of the blast range, BlackMegaloGrowlmon opened fire, releasing a blast so powerful that once the attack was fired, a pair of small explosions went off at BlackMegaloGrowlmon's chest armor, the gun ports damaged from the attack. Either way it was well worth it, as being unable to move, Dagomon was helpless as the attack VAPORIZED his head and a portion of his upper body.

Nero grinned at the sight of the now headless Digimon, Dagomon's body completely unmoving, before it finally sagged to its knees and fell forward.

"I told you I was ready for you this time." Nero said as he flew his throne towards the corpse, before he pointed his D-Necron at it, dark tendrils of energy flowing out of the device and stabbing into Dagomon's corpse, melting it down into data before devouring it piece by piece.

As this was happening, the Chosen were all watching with ashen faces, before Gyro's head snapped to Oren, Weiss and Penny. "Please tell me you have our doorway."

"I don't know…" Weiss said at first, before the scrolls let out a certain sound "Now we do!" she said before tapping a key and a white portal suddenly appeared in the middle of the group.

"Everybody in!" Ruby said hurriedly, before they all ran into the portal, which closed quickly behind them, leaving behind the Dark Ocean… with Nero's crazed laugh echoing with the distant waves.

Yeahp... we went there.

Dark Ocean happened in a MUCH different way to 02 canon as you can see... and Nero is a LOT scarier than Ken could ever hope to be.

The D-Necron is an idea we've had for a while, we just weren't sure on it's appearance, but as you can see, we settled on something that certainly looked threatening.

And of course, the Dark Tamer Trio he used as generals to this attack force of his. It was a fun little idea we had.

Anyway, hope you enjoyed this and are looking forward to the next one, because...
