As luck would have it I've got Spainish with Jack and Mrs. Goff our teacher had taken a few days leave for a family emergency and Edward wasn't participating in his PE class which happened to be at the same time as my Spanish period.

Maths period was awkward as it was 1 of the few classes me, Vera and Jack attended together. Vera kept her distance from both of us though she did glance at our directions occasionally. At the end of period I walked over to Jack and told him I want to meet up with me at the school library during Spanish period.

Every classmate watched with anticipation when Vera stood facing me and Jack's direction, we could feel the weight of her glare on us, as she stepped towards us we braced ourselves for a confrontation. Vera looked like she was about to scream at us but stopped and changed direction.

Me and Jack were relieved that a nasty flare up was avoided much to our audience's dissapointment.

A couple of classes later and the moment of truth had come, mentally I called out to Edward to see if he was there, scanning across the hall a copper haired figure streched up his arms like someone tired of sitting still for too long. In front of him to the left was Jack, he looked up at me.

Sitting at the desk with Jack I said: "Thanks for meeting me. I think you know what I want to talk about."

Breathing in deeply Jack said: "Yeah I guessed as much. This shit gotten out of hand."

"Luke filled me in, what I want to ask is about, is there any truth to the rumors?" I said looking into his eyes. "We've been spending some time as of late."

Smiling nervously Jack said: "Uhmm, Rose you're the hottest, sexiest babe I know and there's plenty of guys who wouldn't mind hooking up with you. Not that I blame them—" Laughing nervously at the last part "– and they're on me, Luke and Heath's case for wasting a shot at being with you."

"So you all wouldn't take your shots, why?" I asked.

"Well Heath's got a date, you know Luke his asked a couple of girls and now he says his my wingman! So we all can have prom dates."

"And you?" I asked.

"I didn't think we'd ever be friends, I'll admit it's tempting but I'd rather just be friends unless you'd let me drive that awesome Merc, right? He added the last jokingly.

"Nope! You can't drive my baby." I told him.

"Probably for the best it wouldn't have worked out with us." Jack said.

I'm glad I didn't have to deal with a love triangle but the the rejection part stung my ego a bit even though I wasn't interested in him and agreed it wouldn't work out, it was nice to know that he thought I was hottest babe he knew, even with Alice's supernatural beauty greatly surpassing mine.

"Glad to hear that, now this situation with Vera, don't worry too much about it, I've got this but I need you keep reaching out her, don't give up on her."

Looking at me incrediblously, he said: "She doesn't want anything to do with me and you."

I replied to him: "I know she's being difficult but let's not give up on her just yet. I'm working on a plan to reconcile with Vera."

Jack was about to speak but I silenced him telling him: "Trust me on this, it'll work out. Vera isn't thinking clearly she might say and do things she doesn't mean, don't take it personal."

"Fine. I'll try." Jack said.

After our discussion ended I left him and went to Edward.

Edward acknowledged me with a nodd. "So did you get all that?" I asked him.

"Yes. From what I gathered he's more distressed than he shows about the situation and angry at Vera for the way she's been treating her friends and feels she throwing away relationship by easily believing those rumors."

I asked Edward if Jack is attracted to me and if the rumor were true that he wanted to be more than friends.

Edward answered: "Well he meant what he said that you're the hottest babe he knows-" Mentally I added sexiest too, which made him roll his eyes when he picked up that thought "-and he does find you very attractive as do his friends too."

As much as I didn't tire of the flattery of being the most beautiful, I worried that this envious beauty might ruin my friendships with the jealousy and insecurity it can insidiously cultivate.

I just hope Jack's attraction wasn't the source of the rumors, I waited for Edward to continue hoping this wasn't the case.

He went on to say: "Jack certainly enjoys your company and his other friend's too and the reason behind him taking up these group study sessions with all of you is to make the most of the time left as high schoolers by bonding with you all and going out with a bang. He has considered dating you but doesn't feel anything more than a mild infatuation that would result in a brief fling and feels like he'd be betraying Vera if he had a fling with you, especially with the rumors going around. He values Vera friendship far too much to ruin it with a fling."

As glad as I am that Jack wasn't that interested in me it paled in comparison to Edward's revelation not that it surprised me that much.

Thinking about how early of my Forks High attendance and subsequent friendship with Vera people always teased about how she and Jack are dating on the sly. Which they both denied and said they were just really good long time friends.

Immediately after he'd spoken the bell rang signalling end of the period. With that I gave my thanks to Edward, he replied: "I hope I helped you and wish the best for you."

Something about his change in behaviour was seemed off.

What ever it was, there other things to deal with.

Now I started thinking of ways I could clear things with Vera.
