I apologize in advance to anyone who has made/ eaten this treat- I looked it up on the internet and just wrote down what it said to do.

Susie had baked chocolate chip cookies, sugar cookies, mint chocolate chip cookies, and samoas. She'd baked chocolate cake, vanilla cake, a mix of the two, and red velvet cupcakes. Mike was by her side in baking all of these, and, when Jeremy started playing his guitar for them while they ate the sweets, she felt more alive than she'd felt in years.

But one day, she thought Mike seemed a little down. He had been cheering and applauding and smiling with the others after Jeremy's performance, but something about him seemed a little… off. She decided that she wanted to do something for him, to thank him for always baking with her.

She asked Evan what Mike's favorite food was, and after a little bit of thought, he mentioned that Mike always used to bake something called 'strawberry fool'. He told her that Mike hardly ever made it- he'd never been told why, but he always assumed it had something to do with their mom. Susie thanked him and walked off.

After doing a little bit of research (she went down and killed William, then grilled him on all the details surrounding the treat- surprisingly, he knew quite a bit about it) she felt ready to make it.

"This doesn't seem so hard," Susie told herself, getting some strawberries from their refrigerator. "It's just strawberries in cream- I can do this."

As it turns out, it was a little more difficult than she'd thought. She didn't know how big to cut the strawberries, so she just sliced them in half and dropped them into a bowl. She poured a cup of sugar in the bowl- William had told her it needed sugar, she should have threatened to quote Mr. Hippo at him for an exact amount- and mixed it together.

She shrugged slightly. It looked decent, at least. She looked down at the notes she had taken while William was "willingly" telling her how to make it. She frowned slightly.

"'Mix it until all the juices come out'?" she read. She picked up the bowl and started mixing them, waiting until the strawberry juice came out.

It took a while, but eventually, it worked. She looked back down at her notes.

"Blender," she said. She searched the kitchen for a blender. When she found it, she placed it on the counter and poured some strawberries into it. She poured the juice in afterwards, then stared blankly at it.

"...GABRIEL!"

In seconds, Gabriel ran into the kitchen.

"Yeah? What happened, is everything alright?" he asked. Susie turned to him and pointed at the blender.

"I don't know how to use this thing," she said. Gabriel frowned slightly and made his way over to her, studying the object in question.

"That's… a lot of buttons," he said. He put the lid on the blender and studied the options. Susie pointed at one of them.

"'Blending speed'," she read. Gabriel pressed it, but nothing happened.

"We should probably turn it on, first," he said. Susie nodded, pressing the only unlabeled button on the blender. A loud, screaming sound came from the blender, making the two kids scream. They reached over each other to turn it off, finally getting the unholy screeching noises to cease. The two kids sighed in relief.

That's when Mike came running in, followed closely by the other kids.

"What happened?" Mike asked. Fritz entered the kitchen, looking around.

"There was screaming," he said. Susie and Gabriel looked at each other. Susie snorted, then started laughing, making Gabriel laugh. They continued laughing together while the others approached the counter.

Mike took in all of the ingredients spread out on the countertop, looked at the blender, then noticed Susie's notes. He turned to her with an eyebrow raised.

"Sue… are you making strawberry fool?"

Susie and Gabriel's laughter slowly died. She cleared her throat slightly.

"I… yes?" she said, but it sounded more like a question. Mike nodded, gesturing vaguely to everything that had been laid out.

"Where did you even get the recipe?" he asked. Susie bit her lip.

"I may have asked William for help…" she admitted. Mike visibly fought down a choke while everyone else turned to her in shock.

"You went to WILLIAM?!" Charlie asked. Susie nodded.

"Yeah… I really wanted to make this," she said. Evan's eyes took on a look of understanding- a small smile graced his lips. Mike shook his head slightly.

"Why didn't you just ask me?" he asked. His eyes flashed a light shade of purple. Susie's eyes widened slightly. She looked around at her friends, but no one had seemed to notice. She shook it off and shrugged.

"I just… wanted to make it…" she started. His eyes slowly started becoming a darker shade of purple. She sighed. "...I was making it for you… as a surprise."

Mike froze, his eyes wide. Everyone smiled at Susie, then looked at each other and nodded. Cassidy glanced up at Mike for a second, but if she noticed the eye color change, she didn't acknowledge it.

"You were?" he asked. Susie nodded, giving him her best smile. She hoped it would calm him down. His eyes were shifting back and forth, as if he didn't know how to take this news.

"I really like baking with you," she said. "And I wanted to bake something for you to say thanks for baking with me."

She turned back to the blender, wincing slightly.

"...unfortunately, I got stopped by the blender."

Mike took a second to process her words. Then, he let out a slight chuckle.

"Sue, I appreciate the thought, but… maybe you should have called me in for the blender," he said. "I'm not sure what this thing's deal is, but it's more evil than blenders usually are."

This made the kids laugh. Everyone gathered around and watched Mike as he showed them how to properly use a blender. He held the lid in place and told Susie to push the button. She did so, shooting behind Charlie when it started up. The other kids bounced back, too, coming closer to Charlie.

Mike just laughed and reached down, pressing the 'blending speed' button. The blender calmed down significantly. The kids slowly came closer again, watching as the mixture slowly got more pureed.

"What's next, Sue?" Mike asked. Susie blinked at him in curiosity.

"What?" she asked. Mike smiled at her.

"Well, it's your recipe- what's next?" Susie blinked at him again and moved to the other end of the counter, looking over her notes.

"Um… it says that next we have to 'whip some cream with sugar until it's stiff'," she said. Mike nodded and looked over at Fritz, whose eyes were trained on the blender.

"Hey, F," he said. Fritz hummed. "Could you get some heavy cream and sugar?"

"I'll get sugar," Gabriel offered. He ran over to a counter and climbed on top of it, opened the cabinet and pulled out a big bag of sugar. Fritz ran to the fridge and removed the heavy cream, almost dropping it. Jeremy ran over to a different cabinet and pulled out a measuring cup.

"I've got a cup!" he shouted. This made everyone laugh.

Susie beamed around the kitchen. Everyone was helping out, whether they were just grabbing things or causing general chaos. She couldn't even bring herself to be upset about the mess in the kitchen, or at how little everyone was taking this endeavor seriously.

They eventually put everything together and gathered around their creation. Mike wrapped Susie in a one-armed sidehug.

"This looks great, Sue," he told her. "Thank you."

She hugged him back.

"It was fun, d- "

She cut herself off with a coughing fit. Everyone started asking if she was alright, but she waved them off with a smile.

"I-I'm fine," she told them. She cleared her throat, taking a deep breath. "It's good. Nah, this was fun, you guys."

They all dug in, but Susie couldn't quite enjoy it like the others were.

"Daddy, look what I baked!"

"Wow. That tastes great. Try this recipe- "

Baking was the one thing her dad never seemed to get mad at her for doing. He actually liked what she made.

She couldn't get over one thing, though.

"It was fun, dad!"

I almost called him dad.

I ALMOST CALLED HIM DAD.

I CAN'T BELIEVE I DID THAT.

She was glad she caught herself, but that was close.

Too close.

She quickly glanced around at her friends to see if any of them had caught it. No one seemed to- they were all enjoying the treat they'd made, all watching Mike's eyes light up every time he took a bite.

But not Evan. She frowned slightly when she noticed the way he was looking at Mike- almost as if there was something that he wanted, but was hesitant to ask about.

His eyes drifted to her and she blinked, eventually looking back down at her bowl of fool.

What was that about?

Maybe Evan was just thinking about the thing with Mike's eyes.

Yeah, that had to be it…

He wasn't looking at Mike when his eyes became purple.
