Chapter Six: Investigation at Everston Academy

It had only been almost half an hour since Drista had been called from her homeroom classroom with her teacher Mr. Ishikawa and in that time, she had been told her brother's worst fear had come true and she had potentially just broke the entire case surrounding another student. Drista and the rest of the people who were in the office had relocated to a teacher conference room while Headmaster Kowalski had stayed behind to make a list of people that he would have to call down to the office. He had already sent Mr. Walker to get Alana from her class and would call down the rest of the students and teachers that were there during the incident.

Drista sat in one of the conference room chairs deep in thought about what she had revealed and learned. So far, she knew that there were currently four investigations going on. Three of them connected to people she cared about and one of them directly linked to a student at her school who was well known for her rude demeanor around others.

Furthermore, an ODRR representative had come to talk to her about her brother only to get a phone call about that same student and there mother just so happened to hold a high position at the office. With that being said she wondered what would happen at the main conference once everyone had arrived. Afterall everyone at Everston academy knew that anything involving the Hightstown family in the middle of the school day was never a good thing. Especially those in Mr. Moody's class has she was one of the students that made up that class.

With permission she had been allowed to text her sister about her visit with the ODRR representative named Regina Orchards only to learn that she and Xisuma had been visited by another ODRR representative by the name of Sarais Remarque. Apparently there had been some conflict on the Dream SMP originating from one of the other players who was also a student here named Tommy Init Watson.

Tommy had transferred to online schooling after a prank from Jaida and her friends caught him in front of the whole school. They had also shared the same homeroom teacher in Mr. Ishikawa, so Drista had known him for quite a while. Last she heard from him was that he was living with his older brother Wilber Shoot Watson on her brother's SMP.

Drista frowned thinking back on what happened that day. If she was going to be questioned further on what happened she knew she should try to provide has much information has possible. Thankfully she had a diary and a photographic memory so it would be easy for her to do just that.

Meanwhile down in the first year hall Mr. Walker was knocking on a classroom door with a sign that said "Class of Malcom Moody, care for animals and introduction to advanced life skills." The security guard walked in and saw Malcom teaching a class on life skills when he heard the door open.

"Hey now, I know that they say there's such a thing has being fashionably late. But that's not true when it comes to school. Oh, wait you're not a student hi Angelo, what brings you to my classroom?" Malcom asked the security guard with a frown. Afterall it was almost never a good sign if the head security guard came into your classroom in the middle of class.

"I'm here for Alana Hightstown, she's being called to the office for an investigation into her studies here at the academy. Apparently, there is reason to believe that she has been learning draemon summoning spells without a license." Mr. Walker explained.

"What?! You don't have any proof of that at all!" The student in question shouted at the man. Mr. Walker just walked over and took her hand. Alana struggled but even with the help of her friends Mr. Walker was still able to remove her from her seat thanks to two other students helping him.

"Actually, the department seems to have enough to open a case against you. You're coming with me whether you like it or not. Headmaster Kowalski says that your mother is waiting for you at the office has well and that they are considering moving you to a different school if you don't cooperate with the investigation." Mr. Walker says in a firm tone.

Alana frowns has she is escorted from the classroom before leaving Mr. Walker turns to Mr. Moody. "Malcom, you and Thea should be prepared to be called down to the office in a few minutes. They wanted me to bring Alana individually because of her history here at the academy." He warns before leading Alana away from the room. However, before he can leave Thea, a girl with white hair stands from her seat.

"Um Mr. Walker are we in trouble?" She asked in a worried tone. Mr. Walker turns to her keeping a hand on Alana's shoulder.

"No, you are not. So long has you cooperate with the investigation that is. I expect to see you do just that class president and so does Headmaster Kowalski." He replied with a firm but understanding tone. With that he finished escorting Alana to the office.

A few minutes later in another classroom in the second year wing the school wide intercom went off. "Attention staff and students. An ODRR representative is in the building to conduct an investigation. The school will now be put into a level one lock down. All students are to return to their homeroom classroom and remain there unless called to the office. If your call to the office, make your way their quickly and calmly. The following staff members and students are to make their way to the office immediately after everyone has settled into their homerooms. From the second year class of Scott Turtleson, Teacher Scott Turtleson and Students Kelly and Carly Oakwoods, Ropo Kent, Jack Mason and Ryan Lizard. From the first year class of Malcom Moody, Teacher Malcom Moody, Students Thea Hawthorn, Jaida Castillo, Bria Ryan, Lucretia Martinez, Keighley Sanders and Rosay Hawkins. This is a mandatory order for all students and staff. Thank you for your cooperation during this time and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause."

Ryan looked up from the papers he was working on. He was currently in his adventure class which just so happened to be taught by his close friend Scott. Not the many of the other students in the class knew that. He could see that Scott was just has confused about this has he was. Looking around at the few homeroom classmates that shared this class with him he saw that they felt the same has their teacher.

Thankfully it worked out well enough, has they were already in their homeroom. So, they just had to wait for the rest of the class to arrive back from their respective 6th hour classes. Scott looked at his phone for a moment before responding. "Alright, everyone who is not in my homeroom class, go to your homeroom, Ryan, Kelly, Carly and Donny wait here for the rest of the class. Ryan, Kelly and Carly when everyone's here we will head to the office with Ropo and Jack."

Has everyone made their way to their homeroom classrooms the students and staff members that were called could only wonder why they were being called. Soon enough all of the members of the classes of Scott Turtleson and Malcom Moody had arrived at their homerooms and the students and staff members made their way to the office where Headmaster Kowalski was waiting for them. "Ah, Scott and Malcom. I see you brought the students I called for earlier, good follow me into the conference room. I'll explain why you were called here when we're inside." Kowalski replied with a reassuring smile.

The group made their way into the conference room and were told to take a seat at the table Thea was puzzled by the presence of Alana who was sitting in the corner next to Mr. Walker. In the room the group that that had been there before their arrival was joined by a woman that looked strikingly similar to that of Alana and a woman with a stern expression on her face that looked strikingly similar to Jaida.

"Mom? What are you doing here?" Jaida asked her mother with a frown. Her mother smiled and looked to see that all of the people that had been called upon had arrived. Turning to her daughter she gave her a smile.

"You'll find out in a moment dear. Just listen to what my coworker here has to say and you'll understand everything you need to know." The woman smiled at her daughter. Jaida nodded and took a seat next to her friends.

"Alright now that everyone is here, we can continue the investigation. My name is Regina Orchards, and I am a ODRR representative here to investigate the return of a rank eight corrupted draemon under the name of Nightmare Terror. Alana Hightstown is suspected of playing a part in allowing for his return has the department while we are also investigating a brake in into Mrs. Hightstown's office at the Office of Draemon Records and Regulation of which her daughter is the prime suspect. While in the office you will be asked about the events of August 27th this year. You will be brought to the office in groups depending on the topic of the investigation we are currently looking into." Regina explained with a soft smile.

The first group she called back was Alana and her mother. Regina and her supervisor a man named Austin Highview. He sits in the headmaster's chair while he and the others are back in the conference room. "Alright Alana I know that your school has let this go has their appeared to be no lasting harm at the time but it's clear that they made a slight mistake in doing that that they intend to fix now. The spell it appears that you casted that day was on the list of spells stolen from your mother's office a few months ago and again today. You're lucky that your mother managed to strike a deal with the police for you to server your sentence with community service and being made a full boarding student here at the school but this time you won't be so lucky. How and where did you learn that spell from and who taught you how to cast it?" Regina asked with a frown. Alana refuses to answer the question and remains silent.

"Alana answers the question now. You are already in hot waters with me and your father and this time if you end up in legal trouble, I won't be able to protect you from it this time. The only reason that I was able to last time was because you broke into my in home office rather than my main office at the main building were my more sensitive files are." Alana's mother Ruth frowned at her daughter in anger.

"Has if, all that was supposed to be a prank on that fake class president. I didn't do anything this time." Alana spat at her mother in anger that all of this was happening at a time that she could be proving that she's better then Thea.

"Really because your DNA was found at the scene. On top of that multiple security cameras caught you on video rummaging through your mother's files and one of the files you were seen holding at the scene was the files of Dream and Drista Wastaken. It's not a stretch to think that you were targeting them." Ruth mentioned to which that Regina nodded with a frown.

"Indeed, which brings me to my next question, what was your relationship with Dream and Drista Wastaken?" Regina asked the student in front of her in a neutral tone. Alana frowned has she was told to answer the question by her mother.

"Nothing much, me and Drista are just classmates who was going to set me up to have an internship with him." Alana lied slightly has her mother frowned at her. She had received multiple calls telling her otherwise.

"That is only half true ma'am. My daughter has caused Drista some trouble in the past. She was trying to threaten her in the past to get an internship so that she could get out of her boarding arrangement here at the academy. I sent her here due to an incident at her last school combined with the break in at my home office." Ruth explained to the ODRR representative.

Regina nodded having been aware of that. "Yes, I read Drista's case file and your daughter's student file before bringing them in here in preparation for this interview. I merely wanted to get a look into your daughter's mind set and understand the way she thinks.

"I see, that make since to me in my opinion. Alana this is your final warning, if you spot one more lie, I will be sending you to Monarch Academy instead of here." Her mother warned which caused Alana to frown.

"You can't do that! I'm meant to be here!" She spat has she turned away from her mother in anger. Regina frowned knowing that this could get ugly if Alana decided to use magic in the school. She knew that she was supposed to turn her over to the officers after the interrogation was over but maybe it was better to turn her over now.

Coming to a decision Regina turned to Ruth with a frown. "Mrs. Hightstown, I feel that it would be safer for everyone involved if we turned your daughter over now and continued the interrogation at the station."

Ruth nodded in agreement has she turned to Mr. Walker. "Yes, I believe that would be best for now. Perhaps this will teach her how serious the work of the ODRR is. Mr. Walker would you assist me in ensure that my daughter makes her way to the station?"

"Sure, not often that I'm asked by parents to escort their children off the premises, but I think that's well called for in this situation." Mr. Walker agreed has He and Ruth forcefully removed Alana from the office.

Regina turned to her supervisor who could already here the unasked question in her mind. "I think I'd like to hear from her classmates and teacher next please." The supervisor nodded gently. Regina nodded in acknowledgement and agreement. She herself wanted to learn about her classmates and teacher. Apparently, they had their own run in with draemons.

Soon after Alana had left Malcom and a few of his students walked into the office. Regina smiles at them politely and welcomes them into the office. "So, Mr. Moody you're the homeroom teacher for Alana Hightstown, tell me, what kind of student would you describe her has?"

Malcom frown has he looked at the ODRR representative. "Honestly, I'd say that she needs to learn a thing or two about respect. From her record her parents sent her here to teach her a lesson that her status won't always protect her. But you'd have to learn more about that from Jaida and Thea here."

"And why would that be? Thea, I understand because she's your class president but what about you Jaida? Some sort of history with Alana perhaps? Or is it something else?" Regina asked the two aforementioned girls.

"Alana was in my class back in middle school. She's still the same old girl she is now. Always trying to prove she's the best and when really nobody's perfect. She was not the most popular girl in school because of her attitude but she still tried to get attention from the other students with a lot of lies that really would have done a lot of damage to some of the other kids if the rest of the school didn't know how to fact check." Jaida explained to which Thea nodded with a frown.

"That's true, I remember we had to attend a funeral back then for one of the students that committed suicide because of her lies. The principle wasn't pleased with what happened and neither was the school board they fired the homeroom teacher of that classroom and went to the department of education and got her band from teaching again." Thea recalled.

"I see, would you say that Alana's behavior has gotten better or worse since her arrival here?" Regina asked the class president with a frown.

"Oh yeah. I have had to deal with a lot of complaints from the first year classes about her this year alone. The student council has actually moved to petition to have her expelled from the school over the a "prank" that she did last week that she had done that nearly put a student in the hospital. While most complaints about her are from the first year the second years are where about a 3rd of our complaints come from and another 4th from the third years at most." Thea explained recalling the number of times she had to deal with a complaint about her classmates.

"I didn't know that the student council was moving to petition to have her expelled her Thea. Then again, I shouldn't be surprised, I've heard some of those complaints, some of them are from other school districts that our school dose business with." Malcom replies with a frown.

"I see, from what Headmaster Kowalski said she didn't pass the draemon safety course that's required to learn that spell correct?" Regina questioned the teacher. In order to learn about anything to do with draemons above standard safety measures when dealing with them, you had to pass a draemon safety class with a passing grade or in some cases higher depending on the class you were trying to enroll in.

"She did fail that course, she only took the course once last semester, just because it was required, and she failed it so she's retaking it this semester. Though she's not doing well according to Ronin. She doesn't understand why the course is necessary to pass despite being told many times it's a public safety requirement.

"I see, I'll have to call him in to talk to him about this. Mr. Moody you can go to the conference back for now can you send in the rest of your class that is here please?" Regina asked the teacher with a look of understanding. Malcom left the room and the rest of his students that were called came into the room.
