Chapter 3: The Avengers

nine months later...

Amelia was no longer a hatchling, she was fully grown. Her long, narrow head connected gracefully to her neck and her body had filled out, showing powerful muscles under her hide. She knew she was big and powerful, yet she hardly felt the need to lash out with her claws and fangs. Her size alone made potential challengers uneasy. Yet, she had no idea what she was. She wasn't an no-claw like Father, she wasn't a Fluffy-Not-Prey like Angry-Orange. She didn't know what she was. Where there others out there like her, that spoke the same language like she dose? She saw one of the Smelly-Things that No-Claws liked to ride.

She looked at her reflection in its shiny surface, her claws clicking together. Her fangs came in at odd angles, crowding her mouth. She didn't look real, she didn't feel real. What was she? She placed a hand on the shiny surface, her reflection staring back at her. She whined, for she was lonely. Then she smelled a No-Claw. The scent told her it was male, but he smelled weird.

"Hey, you better not scratch up my car, Ghost," he barked at her. This No-Claw was not Father, so why she should obey his command? She growled, her lips pulled back, exposing her fangs.

"Hey, what are you doing? Do you realize how expensive the paint job was?" Odd-Smell yelled at her. Her name was not Ghost, it was Amelia. She stalked up to him, rearing to her full height. Odd-Smell did not back down, so she roared. It was a high, pitched shrill roar, not a deep throaty roar like she hoped it was.

Natasha out of the corner of her eye saw Tony Stark trying to pick a fight with Amelia. Nat knew that the animal had a giant temper on her, but it was well controlled, thanks to Steve. She shuddered at the thought of Amelia being untrained without someone to care for her, to teach her right from wrong. She knew that Amelia was highly intelligent, almost human-like in her thought process. The mere thought of her going on a rampage was unimaginable. Amelia had the restraint to hold back, because she knew how deadly she was. Only humans knew that and can hold back because of morals. Amelia had morals, like how Steve Rodgers had morals.

However, there would be people out there who only saw a dumb animal and would exploit her to use her for warfare. Amelia knew of the cost of war, as Nat had observed when she held Steve in her massive hands whenever the Super-Soldier had a panic attack. Nat didn't have the clearance to view Steve's medical files, and she was glad that she didn't. Steve valued privacy over all things. She wasn't a therapist, but she knew that Steve was suffering from PTSD and depression. Amelia was Steve's rock, and his closet friend in this century. She walked down the stairs to stop the fight from escalating.

She placed herself between Amelia and Tony Stark. The stark-white animal was eyeing up Tony's car with malicious intent, as if she was figuring out the best way to wreak it. A tiny part of her wanted to see Stark's ego taken down a few notches, and if Amelia wanted to help her in her ongoing quest to humble Stark, so let it be. The infamous assassin had a petty streak in her body, and she wasn't afraid of letting it show.

"Amelia, what are you doing?" she asked in a soft voice. The dinosaur blew air out of her nose, as she snarled. It was a warning to back off, for she wasn't looking for a fight. Then she pointed a talon at Tony, as if she was saying 'He started it'.

"Okay, so Tony started the fight, but why are you outside?"

Then Amelia did something unexpected. She pointed to herself, then at Nat, her gold-red eyes burning with curiosity. The former Russian assassin/spy, nearly fainted because Steve's pet dinosaur was having an identity crisis, and was trying to figure out what she was.

"Where on Earth did Amelia come from?" Tony asked.

"I have no idea, but she follows Steve around like an over-grown puppy," Nat replied.

"Huh, she looks like something cooked up in a lab. I think I know someone who might help us figure out what Amelia is,"

"Stark, if you do that, I will call Pepper Potts," Nat warned.

Amelia clicked her talons together. Who was Pepper Potts? Was she Odd-Smell's mate? If she was, well, Amelia had to praise her for her patience. One must have a very long sense of patience to deal with Odd-Smell. She blew air through her nose, as she purred. She growled, trying to get their attention, but it failed.

"Amelia? What are you doing?" A voice yelled. Amelia knew that voice. That was Father's voice, but why was he yelling? Was he mad? He didn't smell mad, at least to her.

"Hello, Spangles, good to see you," Odd-Smell acknowledged.

Amelia turned her head to look at Father. What was he wearing? She didn't like it. It was too bright and it smelled fake. Not as if it was real. Did One-Eye gave it to Father? It was an odd apology gift. Following Father was Kind-One. She liked Kind-One, he smelled sweet and kind. Behind Kind-One, was another No-Claw. The scent told her the No-Claw was male. He smelled odd, as if he shared his body with another. A powerful one, but he smelled shy. Thus in her head, she named him Shy-Voice. Then she caught another scent. It didn't belong to a No-Claw, it smelled like a No-Claw, but different. She caught the scent of thunder, rain and lighting. However, there was no storm in the sky today. Where was the scent coming from?

Thor followed Doctor Banner and Captain Rodgers out of SHIELD headquarters, and into the empty parking lot. He thought mortals where odd, but an amusing odd. They worried about death and if their life added up to anything meaningful, yet despite their short lives, they could make an impact in anyone's life; it was a hard yet valuable lesson he'd learnt over a year ago. Compared to his father, he was but a boy yet. He still had lots to learn yet. He then saw a creature that shouldn't even be allowed to live. It was snowy white with bright, red-gold eyes and sharp, sword-like talons. Its fangs jutted out at odd angles. Quills darted down its scaly neck and on its vaguely human forearms. It's mere presence demanded respect, not for the sharp fangs and talons, but for its intelligence. Then he saw its intelligent gaze fall onto him. It was figuring it out who he was.

"Captain, what is that creature?" he asked.

"Her name is Amelia,"

"Hello, Amelia, I am Prince Thor of Asgard,"

Amelia tilted her head. She didn't understand Yellow-Thunder's words nor his scent, but he approached her in a respectful manner. If Father was fine with these strangers, then she would tolerate their presence, for they had done nothing to earn her respect nor earn her trust. She gave a soft purr as she sniffed her father, smelling each scent on him. She wasn't interested in these humans, she just wasn't. She looked back at Natasha's face, studying her. She was concerned about something. Her scent told her that she was worried about something. Something that meant a lot to her.

Then she felt something whistle past her head. Looking down, it was a sleek, black claw. She bent her head down, and sniffed it. It had Hawkeye's scent on it, but it was twisted. It smelled cold and icy, not like his normal scent that smelled like wood, fresh air and apples. Something had happened to Hawkeye. She roared a warning as she saw a light blink rapidly.

Steve knew the roar was a warning, and then he fell back onto his military training as he pulled Agent Romanoff under his shield.

He barely had the time to bark, "Get down!"

Soon, they where all shielded by Amelia's massive body. The massive, snowy-white creature roared, her scales shuddered, turning a once pristine white to white with streaks of ebony and deep, blood-red stripes that zip-zagged all over her body. Steve never saw this side of Amelia before and it terrified him. She was always sweet and gentle, despite her massive size of forty feet in length, from the tip of her muzzle to the tip of her tail. Then he realized he was in her massive palm, cradled to her chest. Even without his enhanced senses from the serum, he could hear her massive heart he slowly blacked out, as he dimly heard the concerned voices of Dr. Banner, Stark, Thor, and Agent Romanoff call out to him.

AN: I'll leave it on this cliff hanger. College is taking up my time, but I'll try to update this story more.

To, Fnaffan: Fury would have a heart-attack if he saw how big Amelia is getting. But spoiler alert for Jurassic World, Amelia will be fully grown by the time she meets her younger sister.
