PETER'S POV
"How did-"
"Peter?! Finally! You haven't spoken to us in weeks. Is your owl sick again?"
"Um, sure, but why is Prongs here...?"
"He nearly died, remember?"
Oh no. No no no no no NO! What had Sev done? He said just mildly hurt, not kill. Suddenly, I started to regret it all. Why did I join him? I can always quit, right?
But this wasn't Quidditch trials. There was no list in the common room to vigorously cross your name off. It was a curse, a binding deal.
There was no way out of it now...
-END OF POV-
It was cold. Freezing. James shook underneath the many blankets he had on. The wind howled outside, causing the windows to rattle. It had to be the wind, after all, Remmy was right next to him, fast asleep and snoring.
A chill ran down James' spine. "Alice? Alice?" he whispered into the dark.
"Huh?"
"Wakey wakey!"
"Wha- Alice?"
"Yes, it's me. You said to meet you at midnight. I can't believe I forgot to think that you would doze off. You scared me! I thought you were dead or something."
"So?" James replied, slightly confused by Alice's usual rambling.
"You said it was important."
"It is! I swear!"
"Well, don't, we're in school, James, school."
It was just like Alice to joke about it. "Urg! Shut up. So you know how Lily thinks I'm better?"
"Yeah! Not better than me-"
"Well, I'm not."
"Um, okay, bye..."
"No!" he hissed, pulling her close. "You can't tell her. Or anyone, for that matter, 'kay?"
"Sure, now I'm hungry. I want my waffles!" she pouted and James giggles at her. Alice really did remind her of Sirius...
"Ah ha, Potter, I've got you at long last." And in the dark, the freezing night, the scores changed. Let's just say that the seeker had finally found his snitch.
