Tables Tell Her Life

Hermione Granger-Malfoy realized as she stared at her freshly cleaned kitchen, that tables could tell her life. Not tables like charts, tables, like the ones you sit at to eat.

From the time she was born to when she was 10, her family had a round wood table that the white paint was chipping off of. She remembered sitting there playing with play-dough or eating breakfast before going to muggle school. But most of all she remembered sitting there while her mom told her that her dad was in a car accident and hadn't survived.

After that they bought a small square table just big enough for the two of them. That's where she opened her Hogwarts letter, and later ate during her breaks from school.

The house tables came next. She was so nervous on that first day while she sat next to Percy. Her favorite memories were of all the adventures the trio planned there.

The table that stands out the most though is the small oval shaped table that was just big enough to hold 10 people. That's where the trio, Headmistress McGonagall, and five others sat while they listened to Draco Malfoy tell his story. While under a very large amount of veritaserum he confessed that he did everything under the Imperious Curse. It was after that day that she fell in love with him.

And then there was the long white table that the wedding party sat at during the reception of Hermione and Draco's wedding.

In the three-story house they moved into, there was a rectangle table that seated around six.

She smiled as she remembered setting up a highchair next to it, when they had their first child; Annabelle. And then two years later they bought two light blue highchairs when they had their twin boys; Michael and Lucas.

And then when they got the news that Anna got into Gryffindor (much to the disappointment of Anna's father), Hermione changed the table so you could see a hint of red.

And when it came time for the boys to go to Hogwarts Draco, in hopes that they would both get into Slytherin, changed it back to it's original coloring. But when they heard that Michael had gotten into Gryffindor, and Lucas, Slytherin, they both tried to change the table. That resulted in it becoming tie-dye.

And now as she waits for her daughter to arrive with her fiancé, and the boys, Michael with his girlfriend, Lucas with his wife, she charms the table so that it will fit two extra.
