Chapter 6: The Varginha Devil

In a cavern in Kentucky, one member of this alien race glared hatefully at its allies.

It then elevated off the ground, hovering deeper into the cave as it glared down at the rest of the Goblins, which backed away to indicate they were terrified.

"Prugh… prugh…" One went.

In response, the figure in the dark raised an arm and, in an instant, that one that spoke was hurled across the cavern, hitting the rocky wall and being pushed through, the lower half of the body sticking out as the legs flailed repeatedly in a vain attempt to get out.

"Kraaa… gano…" The being with red eyes declared like an order before it began to hover out of the cave, leaving the rest inside.

Meanwhile, at the hotel

It had been some time after Danny showed everyone his proof of alien life. Now came to verify that proof.

The creature continued its attempts to break free as Danny Phantom tried to get a hold of it with a syringe in his hand.

"Just hold still, E.T." Danny said, despite knowing the creature didn't understand him.

The snarling alien ignored him, continuing to flail out of his grasp.

Getting tired of this, Danny grabbed the arm and tried to pierce it, only to hear that same metal sound. Groaning, he decided to use intangibility and phase the needle through, making the creature hiss as he finally took a sample.

Once he pulled back, he found what was inside did not resemble blood of any kind, but something see through. He also noticed, once in the right light, there was an odd sheen to it.

Not knowing enough about biology, Danny figured a DNA scan will provide more info once he brings it to his parents.

"Keep an eye on him." Danny said as he phased left the room.

They both nodded.

"We will." Sam assured.

"From way over here." Tucker adds, revealing he and Sam were several feet away, peeking their heads out from the other side of the room, not wanting to be near the unknown creature.

Danny hovered up and phased through the walls, bringing the sample to the RV, where his parents were.

He gave the syringe to his mother, who placed it into a handheld device and scanned the sample.

What she saw made her eyebrows practically leave her head.

"I don't believe this…" She says in a whisper.

''What is it?" Danny asked but his mother was stunned silent. "Mom?" He asked again.

"Well?" Jack asks.

"This DNA… it's… it's impossible!" Maddie shouted. "It's not human, it's not a ghost, and there's no known DNA found in this thing. It's not a mammal, a reptile, a fish or anything! It- it's…" Maddie said, not sure how to say it, hand pressing on her head.

Danny and Jack grinned, realizing what she's trying hard not to say and they both smirked.

"So… what is it Mom?" Danny asks.

"Yes, Maddie. What is this thing?"

Realizing that they were expecting an answer, Maddie sighed in defeat.

"Okay, fine, it's an alien…" She admits.

"YES!" Both Fenton men went, high-fiving.

Maddie groaned, unhappy to admit something she didn't believe in was real.

"So, now what?" She asks.

That got her son's attention as he thought about it.

"Now… we figure out why he and his friends are here and what they want." Danny says.

"We should probably move the creature out. It will only be a matter of time before the hotel notices some small… thing is in their basement." Jack suggests.

"Right…" Danny says.

In the basement

The two hid, peeking through the doorway as the creature snarled in a quiet tone at them.

A moment passed and the two were still lost at what to do about the alien.

"So… should we… talk to it?" Sam asks.

"Why? It won't understand us." Tucker said.

"I mean, if this creature's been on Earth for over half a century, living in nature, it might know a lot about the beauty of what we've been neglecting for so long." She argues.

Instead of agreeing with her, Tucker backed away.

"You do you…" Tucker said with a smile before he frowned. "Even though you are suggesting something very bad…"

Sam scowled at him before an idea came to her and she sighed.

"You know… they might have really advanced alien tech…"

Tucker grinned.

"Now we're talking!"

The two approached the creature, taking a step back when it snarled again.

Both shared a glance, realizing that they might have made a mistake.

The creature clearly doesn't understand them, much less is able to talk back. Still, they continued.

"So… what's your thoughts on the Kentucky wildlife? Isn't it beautiful?" Sam asks.

"Forget that… what kind of cool gadgets you got?" Tucker asks eagerly.

The creature tilted its head, making was sounded like angry hissing.

Both teens' smiles dropped before it lunged at them, making them pull back. After that, it made that same odd, loud hiss while hunched. The two shared looks again.

"What's it doing?" Sam asks.

"Maybe it's got gas?" Tucker suggested.

It's then Danny entered the room via intangibility through the ceiling.

"Okay guys… I gotta take this thing into the RV so we can study it in the jet." He says.

The two shared another glance before walking backwards.

"Okay… you got this." Sam says with a fake smile.

"Laters... " Tucker went before the two ran out, much to Danny's irritation.

In the Fenton Jet

In the jet's makeshift lab, while Jack and Maddie tried to get some tools, the rest watched their alien prisoner.

"So, what do we do with it?" Jack asked, unsure as he stared at the creature.

"Obviously, we must study it and find out what it wants. We may need to probe it..." Maddie said, only to pause when she realized what she said.

It wasn't lost on her husband either, as evident by an eyebrow raising.

"Did you just suggest probing an alien?" Jack questioned.

"Yes, and I'm aware of the irony..." Maddie said with a somewhat weirded out expression.

Danielle ate a sandwich while Danny kept an eye on the alien, Tucker just played on his PDA while Sam read a book. Meanwhile, Jazz was looking at the creature curiously.

"I just realized, this thing is probably hungry." Jazz points out.

"Go ahead and try to feed it… won't eat anything with that helmet on." Danny says.

"How's you know it was a helmet?" Tucker asks.

Sam sent him a look.

"Tucker, alien or not, you should recognize that thing's mouth wasn't moving…"

Tucker only shrugged.

''Hey, this is my first alien." He added while the others ignored him.

"So… how do we feed it?" Jazz asks.

"I have an idea…" Danny says.

Danny soon explained his idea but his girlfriend wasn't so sure.

"This feels like a bad idea…" Sam says.

"It's also proving a theory I've heard on these things..."Danny said as he went to do it.

"Theory?" Danielle asks with her mouthful.

Jazz handed her a napkin with a stern look on her face. Danielle rolled her eyes and used it.

Danny grabbed both "ears" and lightly tugged.

"Here we go…"

He used his powers to phase the helmet off.

"GRAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!"The creature yelled as the helmet was finally yanked off.

To the surprise of everyone but Danny, they saw the creature's real face.

They saw an almost human-like face with grey-colored skin, a big, hairless heads and large, black eyes and a slit mouth that frowned at them.

"Is that… a Grey?" Tucker asks with a smile and a twinkle in his eye.

"Valerie? I don't think she's related to that." Sam says.

Danny made a small laugh, much to Sam's confusion.

"He means the stereotypical alien you see in stuff like Roswell re-enactments on television." He explains.

Before Sam could comment on that, Jazz spoke up.

"So, what's that theory you were talking about?" Jazz asked.

"Well, some think that, because sightings of alien greys were just as common here in Kentucky, that these things and the Goblins were the same creature. What we thought were "ears" and "eyes" were actually part of some kind of helmet." Danny explains.

"Huh… so it's not an actual goblin? It's one of those Grey things?" Danielle asks.

"Yeah… but I guess we can still call them Goblins for now." Danny answered.

As this went on, Jazz placed a piece of bologna on a plate and slid it to the Goblin. However, the creature seemed to refuse to eat it, making sounds at them.

"Grukk… grukk…" It went with a guttural sound, it's mouth not moving as it seemed to come from the throat.

"It's not eating." Jazz said.

"I don't think it can eat." Sam said.

''Then...how about I eat that?" Tucker asked but no one could answer.

During this, Danny pondered to himself.

"Come to think of it, I still need to find that professor, and that John Doe guy. Maybe he's someone who knows my Mom…" He whispered to himself.

Speaking of which, his parents came in, carrying all sorts of tools.

"Okay... your father and I are going to have to probe the alien." There were grossed out sounds, along with some staring in disbelief. "Yes, I know the irony…"

Before she did so, her son went to her.

"Mom...you've been here before...do you know anyone by the name of John Doe?" Danny asked.

"Danny, John Doe isn't a person...it's a name given to amnesiacs who don't recall what they're really called..." Maddie explained.

He blinked after hearing that, registering what she just said.

"Really?" He questioned and his mother nodded.

"Yeah, it's just an alias..." She said.

''But...the email said that someone named John Doe gave our contact info for dealing with these things..." Danny said, lost.

"So, if that wasn't his name, who spoke to this guy who emailed?" Danielle asks.

''I have no idea..." Danny said before frowning. "I guess we better find the guy...I need a web search on Professor Christian David..." Danny said.

"I'm on it..." Tucker said as he pulled out his PDA.

He was about to search but the Fenton parents spoke up.

"That's not necessary Tucker, the jet has a computer on it...plus, it's internet connection is better and works faster..." Maddie said in a simple way, typing quickly before the computer pinged. "There we go." She said with a smile, not noticing how annoyed Tucker got at that.

"Found anything?" Danny asks.

Maddie scratched her chin.

"That's odd… according to this, there are at least 4 known professors with that name in the United States. However, none of them live in Kentucky. The quickest one has stayed in their current state for about 5 years." She said.

"Danny, when was the last time you got an email from the guy?" Jazz asks.

"Days before we left." He explained.

"Not enough time for him to just move out." Maddie said.

''Maybe this person used a fake name?" Jack suggested.

"Okay… so you're saying that the guy who emailed wasn't real?" Sam asks.

''Someone had to have send it." Tucker pointed out.

"Danny, can you show us the emails? Maybe we can use them to pinpoint a location." Maddie suggests.

''Sure, Mom..."Danny said as he went to the computer and went straight to the email.

"There we go." He said.

Tucker quickly stepped in.

"I got this, Mrs. F." He said before cracking his knuckles, hissing in pain from the action as he swung his hands before typing.

Minutes Later

While Danny's parents were still studying over some of the alien DNA, Jazz was reading, Tucker was still doing his and Danielle was eating some chips. Danny and Sam were in the guest bedroom together.

They were alone and finally free to talk.

"So, we finally get a little time alone..." Sam said.

"Yeah..." Danny nodded.

"Well, now that we're finally alone, we can talk about plans." Sam said.

"Yeah, and you and I can hang out after the reunion tonight. We can spend one day doing whatever." Danny said.

"So...after the scanning or whatever, wanna get a double veggie before a walk through the woods?" Sam suggested, wanting to plan something to do with him later.

Danny shook his head.

"I'm not very hungry. Had a big breakfast, after all. The dinner wasn't very appetizing and fighting off aliens worked up an appetite. Plus, I kinda got my fill of the woods last night. How about a movie?" Danny suggested.

Sam made a face at that.

"Pass, we're in the beautiful state of Kentucky. We need to see a lot of that beauty, so how about we check out some of the trees from the sky?" She suggested but Danny shook his head.

"Honestly, after all the craziness, I'd rather not go near the woods unless I need to, how about we just head back to the hotel for now?" He suggested.

"I spent hours last night there, when you spent a whole night in the beauty of Kentucky..."Sam said with a frown.

"It wasn't that beautiful when space monsters try clawing you to death." Danny points out.

The two teens realized that this wasn't going so well and they both sighed.

This is going well. Sam thought sarcastically, feeling frustrated.

Wow...we...aren't totally in sync here, are we? Danny thought, bummed.

It was kind of depressing for the two, finding things weren't very exciting.

"Danny?" Sam spoke up.

"Yeah…?"

He noticed the depressed look on her face as she hesitated to speak up.

"Do you… think we went into this too soon?" She asks.

"Well, I don't know. I mean, I know this trip was based on me wanting to find aliens but-" Danny said but was cut off.

"No… I mean… this." She gestured to the both of them.

Danny was at first clueless.

"Huh?"

Sam sighed in exasperation.

"Danny… I thought once you and I finally started dating, things would be great but… they're not…" She explained with a facepalm.

He did not like hearing that, feeling it might be his fault.

"You're not… you're not upset with me, are you?" Danny asks.

"No… I don't think I am, at least. It's more… I thought this would be… I don't know… better? Honestly, it's barely any different." Sam admits.

Danny sighed, seeing her point.

"I know. I mean, all those movies and stuff ending with the hero and his love interest getting together never exactly showed how well things worked out in the end. Just cut to black or skip to the kids." Danny said.

"What if… I don't know… it turns out things are a lot more complicated than that?" Sam suggests.

Danny didn't like the sound of that.

"What do you mean?"

"I mean… what if we spent so much time wanting to be together… we never really thought about how well it would go?" Sam asks.

Danny didn't say anything.

Is she right? I mean… did we not think this through? He thought to himself.

Before they could speak up, the door burst open.

"Guys, guess what!" Tucker went excitedly before noticing the scowl and arm cross Sam had. "Uh… did I interrupt you guys?"

"Yes, you did… try knocking first." She snarled.

"Oh… whoops." Tucker went with an innocent shrug. "But anyway… I tracked the emails and found where the guy came from."

Danny perked up and took a step forward, much to Sam's irritation.

"So, where is he?"

"Well… according to the computer… he's in Alberta, Canada." Tucker went.

Danny's smile dropped.

"Huh?!" He asks.

"Yeah, it's true, and it looks like all the emails you received weren't from Kentucky at all. I actually did consider looking to see if it was sent with a VPN, but if he did then it's heavily encrypted." Tucker explained.

Sam sent him a raised eyebrow.

"Then… why did you burst in so excitedly?" She asks.

"I found out there's a pizza place not far from here! They got specials on large with 3 toppings!" Tucker said, grinning wildly.

In response, Sam pulled his hat down over his face in irritation.

"Typical..." Sam sighed.

Danny sighed in frustration.

"I guess we bett-"

Danny was then cut off. Suddenly, a loud banging sound was heard, hitting the jet from the outside.

Everyone stared in the direction of the sound, dropping what they were doing.

"WHAT WAS THAT?!" Jazz cried out from outside the room.

"CAME FROM OUTSIDE!" Danielle shouted, sounding like she was eating.

"DON'T SHOUT WITH YOUR MOUTH FULL!" Jazz added.

"I'm on it!" Danny went, going ghost and phasing through the jet.

He looked around and frowned.

He didn't see anything around at first before noticing a large boulder the size of a minivan not far from where on the jet the sound came from. He descended and landed next to the boulder, observing it.

"Did this cause it?" He looked around. "What picked it up?"

He examined it but saw nothing.

That's when he heard the hatch for the Opt Center opening up and down the ladder came Sam and Tucker.

"What happened? Where's the source of the sound?" Sam asks.

"No idea…" Danny said as soon as they reached the ground.

All of them looked around for a sign of something, that's when the sound of buzzing was heard.

''What's that sound?" Sam asked out loud.

They followed the sound, seeing something behind one of the legs of the jet. Something brown and kneeling down.

It was definitely not human.

Once they got around the leg, they saw it and gasped.

What they saw was very slender figure, roughly the same size as them, on its knees and using its hands to balance itself. They saw it had three bumps or horn-like features on its head going back. It looked up, showing intense red eyes, and no visible mouth or nose. And once it saw them, the eyes squinted hard.

As Sam and Tucker remained silent, Danny rubbed his eyes. He saw this creature before in illustrations and knew it as well as he knew of the Goblins.

"Is that… the Varginha Devil?" He asks.

Sam snapped out of it a moment to make a comment.

"One, I'm impressed you pronounced that correctly. Second, what?"

The being slowly started to stand up, keeping its eyes on the three as it snarled. That's when it raised its hand at them, flexing its finger forward and, somehow, it made the three launch backward, hitting the ground several feet away. A collective grunt as they hit the ground, all of them tried to get up, but found it impossible.

"What just happened?!" Tucker asks.

"I… can't… move!" Sam grunted as she tried to move, her arms stuck to her side as if wrapped in ropes.

As they struggled, the creature approached and looked down at them.

"Krukru… kokoko…" It went, glaring down before it turned around and headed to the jet.

The creature hovered upward and into the hatch, entering the ship.

''Oh no!" Danny yelled as the creature was inside.

Danielle stopped eating her sandwich when she saw the creature.

"Uh… who is that?"

"Hmm…" Jazz lowered her book. "Who is- BWAAHHH!"

Jack and Maddie came charging in.

"What happened?! Intruder?!" Jack shouted.

''Grkk." The creature let out, bringing attention to itself.

Both parents aimed their blasters at the creature.

"Get away from our daughters!" Maddie threatened.

Eyes narrowing, the figure raised its arms and, somehow, all of them were sent back and hitting the walls. All of them tried to get off, but found they couldn't.

''What the-" Jack let out.

"I… can't… move!" Jazz struggled.

Meanwhile, the sound of the Goblin was heard in another room.

The red-eyed creature looked annoyed as it walked into that room.

Meanwhile, outside, the three continued to struggle.

''What's going on?" Danny grunted as he struggled.

"Why does it feel like my body weighs a ton and a half?" Tucker asks.

"Maybe cut down on the pie?" Sam snarked in a deadpan tone as she struggled.

Hearing that, Danny got an idea.

"Weigh? Wait a minute…"

He stopped and took a breath before, to Sam and Tucker's surprise, he got up.

"WHAT?!" They went.

"Stay here… I'll be back." He said before flying back to the jet.

Once inside, he saw his family were on the wall, struggling to get off.

"Danny? What was that thing?!" Jazz asks.

"If I'm right, Varginha Devil… no time to explain. Danielle, go ghost and hover off."

Nodding, Danielle stopped trying to break free and morphed. Once transformed, she activated her flight and got off.

"What the heck?" She asks before she realizes it. "Wait… did it affect gravity or something?"

"Probably. Where'd that thing go?" Danny asks, seeing Dani pointing to the lab.

Inside, the creature set the Goblin free from the examination table by waving its arm, making the restraints fly off.

With that, the Goblin went to grab its helmet from the nearby table and put it back on. With that, it looked at the red-eyed creature Danny called the Varginha Devil.

"Breekrureekee?" It went in the tone of a question.

"GON-GON- KRUTTKTK!" The Varginha Devil shouted, sounding angry.

"Brrrkkk…" It went, shrinking back.

The Varginha Devil's glare intensified as it rose its hand.

The Goblin gulped as it found itself being lifted off the ground..

"Kkoooooooortk!" The Vargina Devil went.

"KRUI! BREEGUKO!" The Goblin went, sounding terrified.

Both Phantoms entered the room and saw this. They saw an exchange of alien dialogue.

"What's going on?" Dani asks.

"Not sure… but the silver one sounds… scared." Danny said.

Angry, when the brown alien's hand clenched. The shivering silver alien stopped, hunching as though knocked out before it plopped to the floor, seemingly lifeless.

That's when it saw the two Phantoms and raised its hand at them. Thinking fast, the two Phantoms hovered off the floor, rendering them unaffected by what it did.

Its eyes widened in surprise before glaring at them again. Both Phantoms fired their beams, knocking it to the floor.

Once that was done, all affected by its power were free. The rest of the Fentons slid off the walls, while Sam and Tucker finally got up.

"Glad that's over..." Tucker muttered.

Thinking fast, the alien raised its hand again, but both Phantoms didn't see what was actually affected by its power. The table was sent flying at them, knocking them both down.

Once they were down, the creature then stood up and aimed a hand at a window, breaking it open.

Before it went, it looked to the two. It touched the middle bump-like feature on its head, which glowed a moment before this happened.

"If you wish to live… do not follow…" A cold and menacing voice went from the forehead bump before the creature made the buzzing sound again and jumped out.

Everyone was stunned by this.

"Did it just… talk?" Dani asks as Danny helped her up.

"I… think so…" Danny responded as he stared at the window it escaped from.

They talk? Nothing I read suggests they can talk. He thought in disbelief.

Jack and Maddie then burst into the room.

"What just happened? Where's the creature?!" Maddie asks.

"No idea…" Danny said.

Jack then noticed that the Goblin was now on the floor, looking weakened.

"What's with him?" Jack asks.

''Grako...brehe..."The goblin let out before fully passing out.

"That… thing did something to it." Dani explained.

"Really?" The father said.

As Jack poked the seemingly unconscious alien, Maddie looked at her kids.

"I don't understand, how did you two get up? I could barely move." She questions.

"I realized that thing was somehow using gravity as an attack. Ghosts are unaffected by gravity unless we want to be. We're just lucky our visitor didn't know that." Danny explained.

"Huh… interesting." Maddie said.

Jazz ran into the room, gasping for air.

"Where did that thing go?!" She asks.

"Probably back to Virginia." Dani went, earning a look from Danny that she noticed. "You called it the Virginian Devil."

"No… Varginha, from Brazil. I guess it'd be more accurate to call it the Alien of Varginha." He explained.

His sister sent him a look.

"How are you a C student?" Jazz questioned with fists at her hips.

"You try studying when ghosts keep attacking when you least want it." Danny said flatly.

"Apparently, he'd be Mr. Lancer's favorite if the subject involved aliens." Dani jokes, earning a laugh from Jazz and an eye roll from Danny..

Jack then pulled the helmet off, gasping.

"What…?"

All of them directed their attention to the Goblin, seeing it too.

The Goblin was no more. All that was inside the suit was a white gel-like substance.

Minutes later

Everyone reconvened in the jet.

They were still frazzled over what just happened.

Jack looked to the monitor as the gooey remains of the alien were scanned.

"Huh… weird…" He pulls his wife in. "Maddie, read this?"

She took a closer look and her eyebrows almost flew off her head.

"This is… perplexing." She says.

"What is?" Jazz asks.

"According to this, there's definitely unknown DNA in the gel, but not on any skin particles or anything… but in the gel itself." She explains.

All but Jazz looked lost on that.

"Translation?" Danny asks.

"She's saying that stuff is… or was… the alien." Jazz answered.

"So… it melted?" Sam asks.

Danielle walked to the jar filled with what was once a solid creature, and as she stared, bad memories filled her head.

Memories of a scary laboratory, her former "father" and what was once her fate.

"So… was this thing some kind of… clone?" She asks, feeling some sense of sympathy for it.

"Probably… but clearly this thing was far more stable until… whatever Danny called it, did something to it." Maddie said.

"The Varginha Devil." Danny answered. As he noticed eyes were on him, he kept going. "Basically, something like the Goblins appeared in Brazil in 1996, with three eyewitnesses seeing something that looked like what we saw, and people said the fire department were involved with hunting these things and the probability the US government got rid of them."

"And why would one of those things be here?" Sam asks.

"Maybe it's one of those Grey aliens like the Goblins are? I noticed it had no visible mouth." Jazz points out.

"Or it's another kind of alien." Tucker adds.

"So… what do we do? These creatures are in the same area as where the reunion is. Should we leave? I vote leave… clearly something we're not suited for." Jack said, really wanting an excuse not to go.

His wife thought it over.

"Ordinarily… I'd agree. We fight ghosts, not aliens. However…" Maddie pounded a fist in her hand. "That… thing broke in and attacked us, attacked our kids, then left with a threat of not following… I'd say we do the opposite of what it wanted."

The others nodded but Jack was the only one not agreeing.

"Ugh…" He groaned.

Special thanks to Flower princess11 for helping to fill in.

The Varginha Devil is here and a part of the story, a member of the Goblins. And we'll soon learn what it wants later, and what it did to that Goblin. In the meantime, we'll be finding out what will happen at the reunion.

Invader Johnny: She had no choice but to accept it.

RonaldM40196867: It is. They probably won't. Not really, I'm certain Danny would win too easily. It might be interesting. A scale... for now about a 7.

Khy Dragon: And... it's dead.

Chanderx93: De hecho, tienen su propio idioma, algo que será de importancia.
