Chapter 7: Trouble in Kentucky
"This feels like a bad idea…" Jazz says.
She knew what the plan was, she just didn't agree with it.
"I agree with Jazz-rincess. We should just hop back in the jet and leave." Jack insisted.
"Jack…" Maddie said in a warning tone as she put the tie around her husband's neck.
They were inside the RV, not yet leaving as she was getting everyone ready for the reunion.
"Why is Mom putting a tie on him? He's still in his jumpsuit." Danielle questioned in a whisper.
"Because it's the only way he'll dress properly around her relatives." Jazz responded flatly.
Their mother didn't notice as she kept fixing her husband's tie.
"While I help get everything ready, you kids go looking for those things. Ghosts or not, they're clearly a threat. From what you said those others were carrying, it looks like they're responsible for local thefts your aunt and uncle mentioned." Maddie said.
"On it, Mom." Danny said.
Jack soon found a potential escape.
"Maybe I should go? Just in case?" Jack offers with a hopeful tone. A quick glare from his wife squashed that. "Never mind…" He muttered in a defeated tone.
It was around 3 hours before the big reunion.
Everyone was getting ready and setting up.
"Maddie! Jack! Good of you to come early." Betty-Jo went happily.
However, Jack was looking around.
"Is… Alicia here?" Jack questioned, dreading coming across her again.
"Nope, she's out for a walk." Betty-Jo said, Jack letting out a sigh of relief.
''Thank goodness..." He whispered in relief while Maddie turned to her children.
"Why don't you kids… just hang around the farm for now?" Maddie asks with a wink.
"Sure, Mom." Danny said.
He knew what she really meant and they were on their way. Sam, however, couldn't resist saying this.
"Wow… I guess your parents being in on what we do has its advantages." Sam said
"Why exactly did you keep it a secret from them? I understand the world at large, but why them?" Danielle asks.
"Blame Sam, she insisted parents wouldn't listen or understand." Tucker jokingly says, earning a ribbing from her. "Oof!"
"His parents wanted to disassemble ghosts!" She snapped.
"I was kidding..." Tucker said as he rubbed his ribs while the ghost boy ignored this.
"Do we have everything?" Danny asks.
"Let's see what we got to work with." Tucker says as he opens the back of the RV.
It had all the weapons they usually have.
As they listed off the weaponry, Danny felt something was amiss.
Weird… am I forgetting something? He thought.
He shrugged as he decided to work with what they have.
"Is that everything?" Danny asked as he eyed some devices.
"All set, Dude..." Tucker said.
"Are you ready, Danny?" Sam asked.
"Yeah..." Danny said. "Just remember: these things aren't ghosts, they're solid creatures whose biology is completely unknown to us, so there's a chance this tech will have little effect on them."
Everyone nodded.
In 10 minutes
"Okay… Sam and I will go this way. Jazz and Danielle go North. Tucker, keep an eye out around here so that we'll know when it's time to come back."
"Gotcha." Tucker said with two finger guns.
Danny and Sam soon left, leaving Jazz with Danielle as the two go behind the house, going to the woods there.
"So, what should we do while we look? How's your homeschooling?" Jazz asks.
Before Danielle could say something, she saw someone up ahead.
"Isn't that… Aunt Alicia?" She asks.
They both saw the middle aged woman was taking a hike and still looked grumpy.
Jazz frowned.
"Let's just leave her be. After all, it's not like she's ever been the friendliest person in the fami- you're already gone, aren't you?" She realizes Danielle is already gone.
Danielle was halfway to meeting up with Alicia.
''Aunt Alicia!" Danielle called, getting the red haired woman's attention.
"What now?" Alicia questioned harshly as she stopped.
Danielle adopted a cuter, friendlier pose.
"So… what'cha doing?" Danielle asked.
"Walkin'… tryin' to enjoy the scenery of nature." Alicia said with a clearly unhappy look on her face.
"Are… you upset about something?" Danielle asked.
"What are you talkin' about? I ain't bitter!" Alicia snapped before realizing she lost her temper and cleared her throat. "I mean… no." She said.
''Oh…" Danielle said, trying to think of something to say to her.
Okay… maybe I can get her to show us around, she's been here more times than us, after all… She thought.
"So… Jazz and I are… doing our own nature walk, wanna join?" Danielle asks happily.
Jazz shook her head at his, clearly not wanting that.
Alicia eyed the blaster in Jazz's hand and scowled harder.
"I got better things to do than run around lookin' for ghosts like a fool..." Alicia said in a grumpy way.
Danielle raised a brow at this.
Like a fool? I know she doesn't know about Danny's powers, but after the Disasteroid?
"Uh… ghosts exist. Haven't you heard of Danny Phantom? Or his new little sister sidekick who I'm sure many people find adorable?" Danielle questioned.
"Pfft… I don't listen to what the media says." Alicia adds.
"Wait, what? Where were you months ago when the Earth was intangible?" Danielle asks.
"I got no idea what you're talking about, Maddie called me the day after my birthday about some nonsense about an asteroid, a birthday I enjoyed with me and my favorite brand of be-" She paused, remembering this is a child she's talking to. "Er… soda. Now, don't bother me with whatever crazy thing you fool of a father got you into, I gotta get goin'..." Alicia grunted before leaving, brushing her off.
She didn't notice or care how those words affected her niece.
Danielle felt saddened by this.
"I just wanted to hang out." She said, looking down.
"Don't feel bad. Aunt Alicia isn't exactly the nicest person in the family..."Jazz said as she placed a hand on her head.
"Why is she like that?" Danielle asks.
Jazz sighed and decided to be frank here.
"She's just bitter, no matter how much she insists she's not. Mom won't let us say it, but she's just not a good person, especially since it was her own fault her marriage ended poorly…" Jazz said.
''What did she do?" Danielle asked.
"She just never had any interest in compromise or concern and her ex-husband was the one who called things off..." Jazz explained while her sister frowned in frustration.
There's gotta be some way to get her to soften up... Danielle thought.
"Come on… let's find some space monster for you to take your sadness out on." Jazz suggested with a small smile.
Hearing that lightens Danielle's mood a little.
"Okay…"
Meanwhile
Tucker was sitting on the fence by the cows, looking over his shoulder at them grazing before rolling his eyes.
"No wi-fi, my PDA is useless out here..." He muttered before going back to work.
His stomach grumbled and he looked to his phone, calling that pizza place he found, but no signal.
How could Sam WANT to be here? This is… torture! He thought.
''I can't believe that the aliens are the only thing interesting, and they tried to kill Danny...There's nothing here worth my time..." He muttered. That's when he looked up. "What the…?"
That's when he paused at the sight of a blonde walking down the road and he grinned.
And… now I found something to keep me busy!
With a breath spray, he raced over to her.
"Howdy, I'm Tucker… and I-"
"Sorry, I gots me a boyfriend." Sally May said.
Tucker's smile dropped.
"Darn…"
"Yeah, just met him yesterday. He's a visitin' the McKirks for a reunion." She said.
Tucker raised a brow at that, sounding like someone he knows.
That sounds like… nah. Even with how things are now, he'd never cheat on her. Tucker thought.
Still, he looked at the country girl and didn't want to give up yet.
"So… do you have a sister or cousin?" Tucker asks with a still flirtatious grin.
"Nope, but I got a big brother… one who don't like city folk." She responds.
Tucker felt offended by that.
"Why's that? The city's got it all! The best restaurants, technology, malls, technology, labs and most important of… technology!"
"Y'all said technology three times." Sally May pointed out.
"That's the best part." Tucker says.
"Blame our pa, since the girl he used to love moved to the city…" She said.
"SALLY MAY! ARE YOU HITTIN' ON ANOTHER CITY BOY?!" Her brother was heard shouting.
Tucker looked back and saw a blue pickup truck speeding at them, flinching in fear as it braked hard and out came her older brother, who looked very eager to hurt someone.
Uh oh… Tucker thought
"And what were you up to with my little sister?" He questioned with an edge.
"You're her brother? Wow… you're a lot scarier than I thought you'd be…" Tucker said with a nervous laugh.
"Leave 'em be, Zeb… He don't know I'm taken. Ain't his fault." Sally May stated.
"You ain't taken! I ain't lettin' my little sister get hitched to a city kinfolk to the McKirks and have city kin with him!" Zeb shouted.
"Oh here we go again, actin' like Pa just because y'all share a first name." Sally said with sarcasm.
Tucker started to feel things were getting intense and walked back.
"Well… you two are having your sibling issues right now so… I'm gonna go now…"
He turned and ran away, Zeb taking notice.
"Get back here! I ain't done with you for hittin' on my sister!" Zeb shouted before running after Tucker.
Suddenly, he felt a part of hands grab him by the waist before he was swung back to his truck.
"Leave that boy alone!" She demanded.
She might not be interested in him, but she doesn't want him to get hurt by her brother either. He didn't mean any harm, unlike her brother right now towards him.
Her brother sent her a glare and grumbled under his breath.
"Yer lucky I gotta find whoever stole my tools last night…" He grunted.
With that, he got back into his truck and left.
As Sally May shook her head disapproving, she was looking around and smiled.
"Now… to find my new boyfriend. That's the truck his folks drive, so he must be around here somewhere..."
Meanwhile
While they were looking for the aliens, Danny and Sam were by the creek, alone.
However, Sam was more interested in what they were surrounded by than what they were looking for.
"This place is so beautiful…" She said in awe.
"Uh huh… Sam? Now's not the time for a nature hike." Danny said flatly.
Sam frowned at that.
"I can multitask, y'know?" She questioned before sighing. "So… any idea what those things want?"
"I don't know, I'm not even sure why they were stealing stuff, only that if they had ectoranium, that means they knew I'd be there." Danny said.
Sam raised a brow at that.
"I get your point… but it's not exactly common for us to be out here." Sam pointed out.
Danny sighed.
"You're right… I'm sorry." He said.
"Okay then." Sam said.
There was a long pause as the two found themselves unable to figure out what to talk about right now.
"So, uh...any ideas of what to talk about?" Danny said.
"Not really, I was really hoping for a nature hike… that's about it..." Sam said.
Danny sighed as he looked around.
Weird… why are things… not as great as I hoped? It's like for every moment we're together, something happens to make things less fun in this relationship. He thought.
"Well, I guess we can-" He started speaking before he recognized the area they were in.
"We can- what? Danny?" Sam asks.
Wait...isn't this where- He thought as he suddenly recalled something very important.
Namely, a kiss that wasn't supposed to happen.
Sam noticed his expression.
"Danny, what's wrong?" Sam asked.
"I just remembered what I forgot… I was so keen on the aliens that I missed it…" He said with a facepalm.
"Forgot what?" Sam asks.
"I...well, you see-"
"Yoohoo... oh, Danny!" A flirtatious southern accent was heard.
Danny flinched and turned around in horror as Sally May ran up to them.
Sam saw the country girl and frowned.
"And… who's this?" She asks accusingly.
Before Danny could answer, he felt a pair of hands clasp his quickly and rather tightly.
"I'm so happy to see you here! I was worried Zeb scared ya off!" She said.
Danny's face turned red, but also sweat profusely since his girlfriend was here.
"Hi… Sally May…" He said, trying hard to pull his hands out. "Sorry… but…" He struggled to get free. "I'm… busy!" He pulled free.
"Too busy for me?" Sally May asked sweetly as she took his hands again, much to his dismay.
Sam continued to glare intensely with arms crossed.
"Danny? Who is this?" She questioned with an edge to her voice.
Sally May let Danny got and gave a friendly wink at Sam.
She did not notice or care about her glare.
"Sally May Hackford, Danny's new girlfriend!" She presented.
Slowly, Sam turned her head at Danny, who gulped hard.
"Why does she think she's your new girlfriend?" She asks.
"It was an accident! I fell on her and… my mouth landed on hers." He said.
Sam's mood lightened, as she knew Danny wouldn't pull anything like that. Sally May, meanwhile, looked confused.
"Huh?"
Danny sighed and straightened up.
"Thing is, Sally May, that was an accident. I didn't mean to kiss you, or lead you into thinking we were dating. This is, you're pretty… very pretty… some would say… hot. Maybe-"
"Giving the wrong idea again." Sam said.
"The point is… I'm not your boyfriend…"
"He's not." Sam adds in a matter of fact tone.
"I'm sorry but I'm not interested." He explained and prepared for the worst.
To his surprise and horror, Sally May smiled warmly.
"Well, how about that? An honest city boy…" She then hugged him tightly, not seeing the snarling face on Sam. "Well, in that case? Let's have us a real date before we decided we's an item. Can't get hitched too soon, after all!" She said.
"HITCHED?!" Danny and Sam exclaimed as the boy tried to wriggle out of her grasp.
He had one last thing to say.
"Thing is… I already have a girlfriend!" Danny shouts quickly.
He hoped that would have been enough to make her stop.
Sally May looks around.
"Is she here?" She asks dismissively.
"Yes… yes she is." Sam hissed with her arms crossed.
Sally May just raised a brow as she looked at her.
"Huh… I thought you two were kinfolk since ya both got black hair…" She says.
Sam frowned in annoyance while Danny flinched.
"We're not related…" Danny said quickly.
"Yeah, plus my hair is dyed." Sam said flatly.
Before Danny could continue, he stopped and slowly turned his head.
"Really? It's dyed?" He asks.
Sam just sent him a flat look.
"Uh… hello Danny? My mom has red hair and my dad has blonde hair… I know you're a C student but even you should have pieced that together…" Sam states the obvious.
"But I've known you since we were in first grade and your hair was black way back then too..." Danny pointed out.
"I dyed it back then too, my grandma wanted me to stand out..." Sam explained.
"Oh... well, in any case." Danny looked back at Sally May. "So as you see, I have a girlfriend."
To his surprise, and displeasure, Sally May gave a disbelieving looking smile.
"There ain't no way a girl like this could be yer girlfriend." She says.
The goth girl frowned, feeling insulted.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Sam questioned.
"Yer too wimpy lookin'. You look more likely to get the vapors than anything." Sally May states with hands at her waist.
Sam frowned harder.
"Excuse me, but I happen to be an ultra-recyclo vegetarian and take martial arts behind my parents' back." Sam says.
Sally May seemed confused now.
"Ultra... wha? Is that city slicker thing?" She asks.
"She's a vegan." Danny explains.
With that, Sally May has an almost mocking smile.
"Seriously? How uninterestin'. No meat?" She asks.
Sam frowned again but was confused.
"What does that mean? You live on a farm, you grow food, don't you?" Sam asks.
"We also hunt and cook." Sally May states.
Sam immediately took offense.
"What? Don't you have respect for nature?"
"Respect don't mean letting animals or weather takin' what we have." Sally May adds.
"WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU?!" Sam shouted as they glared harshly at each other.
Danny felt dread growing.
I suddenly wish those aliens clawed me to death...
The two girls kept arguing before Sally May lost interest in talking to Sam and looked to Danny.
"Care to get a better look at how we live out here?" Sally May said with her eyebrows raised.
Danny gulped nervously and before he could speak, Sam got in her line of sight.
"He's spoken for." Sam stepped in.
Sally May sent her a competitive look.
"What's wrong, city girl? Afraid of a li'l competition?" She challenged.
"Oh... I'm not afraid of anyone, especially you!" Sam said with a hostile look in her eyes.
Sally May just reached for Danny, putting a hand on his shoulder.
"Danny here needs someone who ain't afraid to get dirty, smile once in a while and keep 'im safe... like me." Sally May declared proudly.
"AS IF!" The goth girl shouted.
With the two girls glaring at each other in the eye, Danny groaned.
I feel like we're getting off track of finding those goblins. He thought.
"Uh… Sam?" Danny spoke up.
Sam huffed and turned away.
"Suddenly, I think we should search in separate directions!" She growled.
"Sam, wait?" Danny called as she marched further away.
However, Sally May quickly grabbed him and sent him a flirty look.
"Finally, I thought she'd never leave..." Sally May said as she fluttered her eyes.
"Uh, please let go..." Danny said as he tried to wriggle out.
"Aww, come on… what's the problem?" Sally May asks.
"Look, you're very pretty, if a little clingy, but that's my girlfriend you made storm off!" Danny argued.
"And yet, she left you here with me… I'm thinkin' things aren't as nice as you two was thinkin' they'd be."
"I'd, uh…" Danny found he couldn't argue against that, but still chose to be firm. "She's been my best friend since I was little."
"And…?" Sally May asks.
"And… what?"
"Why's that enough of a reason? Just because two been close in a month of Sundays, that don't mean you're both soulmates." She points out.
"W-What?" Danny asks.
"I mean it... sure, friendship is real important and stuff, but it takes more than just being old friends and hormones to make real, lasting, romantic relationships to work… like actually having chemistry and more than just thinking they'se good lookin' and you spend time all the time together..." Sally May points out.
Danny could only stare in disbelief.
"That's… oddly wise." He said.
"Thanks…" Sally May said before pulling Danny off his feet and pressing him to a tree. "Now… where were we?"
Before Danny could protest, Sally May stole a kiss.
Not again. Danny thought as he pushed her off.
"Please don't do that..." Danny said as he wiped his mouth.
"Aww, but I wanna…" Sally May said flirtatiously.
Before Danny could argue, someone who watched the entire kiss spoke up.
"SALLY MAY!"
The two teens turned to see Zeb stomping towards them. And he looked furious, practically having steam coming out of his ears.
Oh great, my future brother-in-law... Danny thought sarcastically.
That's when the older Hackford grabbed Danny by the collar and pushed him into the tree.
"You stay away from my sister!" He shouted.
Sally May stood in his path, defending Danny.
"Leave 'em be! Danny's real nice and I was the one doin' this kissin'!" She yells.
"Regardless… he's drawing this out of you!" Zeb states.
"I ain't a lil girl anymore! I am a teenager!" Sally May shouts.
"Stay away from the city people! Especially when they's McKirk kinfolk!" Zeb shouts back.
Danny just stared at the entire sibling battle before slowly inching away.
"I gotta get out of here…" He said under his breath.
The two siblings kept arguing as he tiptoed out.
Once he was far enough, he saw Sam hiding behind the tree.
"That was close…" She said.
"You were watching?" Danny asks.
"I knew you wouldn't take advantage… plus… her brother kind of scares me." She admits.
"Same." Danny said.
Sam took a breath.
"Come on… let's head to the town instead. Suddenly, nature's not so peaceful at the moment." She says.
30 Minutes Later
Danny leaned on the wall of a barbecue stop, eating a hot dog he got from inside. Tucker approached with a large drink in his hand.
"Man, the barbecue places this town has are amazing." He said.
"I gotta agree…" Danny responds before taking a large bite. "It's a huge relief after seeing what my Aunt and Uncle have to serve for dinner. I'd tell you what I caught them cooking, but I don't want to throw this up."
Sam just got out of the grocery store, having written down what she heard.
"Okay… this might help out." She said as she started walking towards Danny and Tucker.
Before she turned the corner, she heard them.
"I bet you're tired of tofu, huh? Personally, I hate the stuff." Tucker said.
"Yeah… it's pretty bland." Danny admits.
Sam's eyes widened as she scowled and was about to step forward as they continued.
"Why not tell Sam?" Tucker asks.
"You know what she's like… she's all about being different and unique but she has no real tolerance for people who eat or think differently." Danny says.
Sam stopped in her tracks, stepping backward and kept listening.
"Did you hear how she reacted when she heard about the Impossible Meat? She refused to think it was real, or that the Vegan maker is not being against people who eat meat." Tucker says.
"I know… a big overreaction." Danny says.
"For someone who thinks that "unique is good", she really seems to be against anyone being different from her. I mean, who cares if everyone is fitting in if they actually like things everyone else does?" Tucker says.
Danny sighed.
"I know. I wanna tell her this but… I figure she won't listen to me. She's always been the one to call the shots more than us, so I don't think she'll ever listen to anyone else because of how "non-conformist" she is. It's cute… for like a bit, then it gets old." Danny said.
"You sound like you're getting a little tired." Tucker points out.
"Honestly? I kind of am." Danny admits.
Sam gasped silently.
He's tired… of me?
"I mean… I don't know… I spent so long being into her that… it's like I didn't think how well we'd actually work as a couple." Danny admits.
Tucker was about to sip his drink when he had to comment.
"Dude, you know I've been rooting for you both for years." He said before taking his drink.
Danny sighed.
"Tucker, I get that… but I'm starting to think we were… together for the wrong reasons." Danny said.
"Wrong reasons? What do you mean? But you two have been best friends for years!" Tucker points out.
"I know but I'm starting to think Sally May wasn't wrong about how that's not enough… otherwise, you and Sam have been the best of friends for years too but I don't see you wanting to be more than friends. It's not like you two have kissed." He points out.
Tucker's eyes widened.
Wait… does he not know about what happened during the flour sack baby thing? He thought.
"Uh… yeah." He says with a nervous smile.
Seeing that as a good opportunity, Sam decided to walk in.
"I'm back. Just spoke with the last store on this street." She said to them.
"So, what did you find out?" Danny asked, having not been aware of her presence.
"I asked around and it looks like some of the older people know about the Goblins..." Sam said.
"They do?" Tucker asks.
"Yeah… they've reported seeing, and I'm quoting, "big eyes, long-eared goblins from the caves" or things that looked like Grey aliens, which they called "little white men"." Sam said as she read her notepad.
"If they know about them, then why didn't anyone say anything?" Danny asked.
"My guess is they're too afraid to talk about. All they'd say after mentioning the sightings is for us not to go anywhere near the woods after sundown..." Sam explained.
"What are they, vampires?" Tucker asks.
Danny pondered.
"Not exactly. Those things tried to get away before sunrise. I don't think they like sunlight that much, that must be why they aren't always spotted during the day." Danny reasoned.
"But what about the brown one we got hit by?" Tucker asks.
"Maybe it's the suits they wear? It might keep them safe for a time, but probably not for long given they could glow and float and stuff." Danny suggests.
"So, you think we'll have to wait until after sundown to find them?" Sam asks.
"Yeah… but the reunion is around that time. I'll just show up, say hi to everyone, slip out and find these little dudes and figure out what it is they want." Danny says.
"Well, until then, you might wanna stuff up so as to not need to eat cooked raccoon or whatever they're serving." Tucker says.
"Right… I think I saw mac and cheese on their menu." He said as he went back into the restaurant.
Tucker was about to follow but stopped as Sam still hadn't moved or said anything.
"Coming?" He asks.
"No thanks." Sam responds with her arms crossed.
"They got Impossible Meat." He says in a sing-song voice.
"THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS IMPOSSIBLE MEAT!" She shouts angrily as Tucker hurried in.
After she huffed, she looked away, thinking of what Danny just said.
Are we really not as compatible as we thought? She thought, not liking this.
Later
The three returned to the McKirk farm, with Danny feeling less than eager to go along with it than before.
"Between Sally May, her brother, and aliens, I'm kind of interested in going home." Danny admits quickly.
"Oh, come on, it can't be that bad, can it?" Tucker asks with a smile.
That's when the three went through the door and Jack reached out and grabbed his son by the shoulders.
"About time, son! Battlestations! They're coming!" Jack went.
"Who, the Goblins? Ghosts?" Danny asks.
"Worse… your mother's family!" Jack went in an over dramatic manner.
Danny could only make a face before turning his head to Sam and Tucker, both of them were equally as unable to believe he's this aghast over his in-laws.
"He's your Dad." Tucker points out.
Danny then redirected his attention to his father.
"Dad, I know you don't get along well with mom's family but I think you're overreacting. We're dealing with actual aliens and feuds here..." Danny said.
"Believe me, I'd rather let ghosts or aliens abduct me than spend a second here with your aunt..." Jack muttered under his breath.
"So… are Jazz and Danielle back?" Danny asks.
The door opened and in came two rather filthy looking young women, who are covered in mud of all things.
"We are now." Jazz grumbled.
"What happened?" Danny asked with an amused look on her face.
"A certain someone thought covering ourselves in mud would camouflage us." Jazz said, rolling her eyes toward the equally messy but not as upset Danielle.
"Worth a shot, right?" She asks with a cheeky smile.
"You're so lucky I always wanted a sister…" Jazz grumbled.
"You two better wash up before the rest of Mom's cousins show up." Danny says.
"Or don't… they might be so upset to kick us." Jack suggests quickly.
"JAAAACCCCKKK!" Maddie called out from the other room, clearly sounding annoyed from what she heard.
Jack adopted a nervous chuckle.
"Just kidding, Sweetcakes!" He called out.
Meanwhile, in the cavern
The creature Danny called the Varginha Devil observed as the rest of the so-called Goblins were gathering all they stole into a pile and began building something.
One approached.
"Brrwhuh?" It went as if asking a question.
"It would appear that the machinery stolen from these lower forms of these creatures is not as impressive. Still, the creature with the glow of white had abilities that could be of aid. The mineral we gained appeared to be of aid… I question if this will be successful." He said to himself.
"Grbrrwuw gada?" The Goblins asked.
The Vargina Devil's red eyes squinted to suggest anger.
"I have attempted to turn it off… but it would appear the repairs made did not last. I am unable to turn off this… primitive way of speaking being translated. Still, it will not matter. If that creature and the rest of his kind are indeed here for us, then we will make it… easier to find us." He then hovered and looked out where the entrance to the cavern is, pointing out. "Go! Search the closest settlement of terran civilization and find him! If not, gather whatever technology you can!"
With that, the cavern full of Goblins emptied as the entire horde before running out, making guttural noises and screeches along the way.
