Alex had rode with 61 to Chicago Med trying to help keep a patient stable. Brett and her were filling out paperwork when someone tapped Alex on the shoulder. She turned around and saw the same man from earlier. Mr. Jay Halstead.

"Hello."

The simple hello made Alex's legs weak and she could feel her heart fluttering. "Hey."

"I'm Jay Halstead." He stuck out his hand for her to shake.

Alex. took a hold of his hand. "Alexandra Hermann." Brett thought it best to leave them alone so she headed back out to 61.

Jay got this puzzled look on his face that made him look even cuter "Related to Christopher Hermann?"

Alex smirked. "He's my uncle. Raised me after my father passed away."

"Oh I'm so sorry." Alex waved him off.

"It's okay it's been a long time since he passed." The two of them started to walk towards the parking lot. "How'd things look back at the accident?"

"Almost done I believe. Unfortunately it has started turning into more of recovery instead of a rescue." They both looked down as they walked feeling the pain of everything they had seen today.

"Sometimes that's always the hardest part. Realizing every one else is already gone." The two of them stepped just outside the ED doors.

"You a first responder?" Alex wasn't paying any attention to Jay as she was looking around for 61 but they were no where insight. "Alex?"

"Hm... sorry... what did you say?"

Jay chuckled. "I asked if your a first responder?"

"Oh yes I am. I use to ride on 61 with Shay way back when." The thought of Shay made Alex smile and realize how much she truly missed her.

Jay stuffed his hands in his pockets. "Shay was something. I got to meet her a couple times."

"She could make any situation better no matter what it was." The thought made them both smile.

"Did you need a ride back?" His question made Alex get this questioning look on her face. "I noticed 61 was not here anymore. Being a detective makes you notice more things then most people do."

Alex was getting ready to accept the offer when squad 3 pulled up. Kelly jumped down and approached the two of them. "There you are Lex. I've been looking all over for you."

"Yeah 61 kind of left me here." She laughed. "But Jay kept me company." Alex kept sneaking glances over at Jay who was trying to not look annoyed.

"Ah well we are bring the last couple of victims and then headed back to 51."

"Thanks Kelly." Alex was hoping Kelly would walk off but he didn't. He was obviously hovering. "Well it was nice meeting you Jay."

"You too Alex." Jay pulled out one of his cards from his wallet and handed it to her. "Just in case you ever need a detective. Or just need someone to get a beer with." Jay flashed her one his most charming smiles.

"Thanks maybe I will." Alex took his card and headed over to squad 3. She could feel herself blushing as she climbed into the back. She then watched out the window as Jay jumped into his truck and left.

Kelly had climbed up into the passengers seat and turned around so he could look at Alex. "What was that?"

"What was what?" Alex looked at Kelly all confused.

"You know what Lex." Kelly was definitely annoyed.

Alexandra groaned "Don't do this Kelly. Don't become over protective."

"I'm just looking out for you." Capp and Cruz climbed into the back while Tony climbed into the drivers seat. "You don't really have a good track record with men."

"Excuse me?!" Everyone was shocked by what Kelly had said.

"Lieutenant now would be the time to back track what you just said."

"No Cruz. Let Kelly Severide speak his mind." Alexandra was fuming. Her rage boiling inside her. "So what do you have to say Kelly?"

"I'm just saying your past boyfriends haven't always been the greatest."

"You know what Kelly." Alex made he way to the door. "Fuck you." She jumped down and started to walk back towards the ED.

Kelly stuck his head outside of the passenger window "Alex come on. I meant that in the most loving way possible."

Alex turned on her heels so she was looking at Kelly. " Your track record isn't any better! You and your two Renee's!"

Shay had called Alex when all the drama with the new Renee happened. Alex almost came back and kicked his ass for being so dumb but it was soon after that when Shay died. And she couldn't come back to Chicago knowing Shay was gone.

"Let's go Tony."

"Lieutenant..."

But Kelly cut him off. "I said let's go!" Tony didn't want to leave Alex but he also didn't want to be on the end of one of Kelly's temper tantrums.

Alex's face was stoned cold as she watched them drive away, Cruz giving her a sympathetic look as he passed her. Once they were out of sight she sighed.

She began to walk until she found herself at the front of the hospital where she sat down on a bench. How had things gone this bad? Kelly and her bickering so much. Her heart felt the space between her and Kelly growing more and more.

Alex shook the feeling and realized she still had Jay's card in her hand. She stared at it for a moment before pulling out her phone and began dialing his number. The phone began to ring and she could feel a lump in her throat beginning to form.

He picked up on the second ring. "Detective Jay Halstead?"

"Uh Hey Jay this uh." Alexandra was never one to trip over her own words the way she was but she couldn't help it. "It's Alexandra."

If only Alex could see the smoke that came on Jay's face when he realized who it was. "I thought you would call but I didn't think it would be this soon." Jay began to laugh causing Alex to feel embarrassed.

"Yeah…uh… Kelly and I got into it and now I am sitting outside Chicago med with no ride. You wouldn't happen to be too far away would you?"

"I'll be there in 5 minutes."

"Thanks Jay I really appreciate this."

"See you soon cutie."

Their phone call ended and Alex could feel her cheeks turning red again. Her stomach bubbling in anticipation of see Jay.

A truck pulled up in front of Alex 5 minutes later and rolled down their window. "I'm here to save a damsel in distress." Jay said with a goofy grin on his face.

Alex smiled and walked over to his truck and climbed in. "Thanks Jay. I really appreciate this."

"No worries. Means I get to see your beautiful face again."

There was that warm feeling signaling Alex was now blushing and hard. She look away and smiled.

"Where too?"

"Can you take me to Kelly's? My car is there."

"You got it." Jay pulled away and began heading to Kelly's.

Squad 3 rolled back into 51 and all the guys climbed out. 81, 51, and 61 were already back. They headed inside and everyone was in the rec room, no one really wanting to lay down.

Second watch wasn't even on shift but most of them didn't even want to go back home. Hermann spotted squad and noticed his niece wasn't with them. "Severide where's Alex?"

Cruz, Tony, and Capp were waiting for this moment. "Back at med." Kelly's voice was very cold and distant.

"Why is she at Med?"

Kelly snapped. "I don't know Hermann! She's a big girl and can take care of herself!" He stormed off towards his office.

Hermann looked to the rest of squad 3 to see if someone was going to give him answers. After the three of them exchanged looks Cruz finally stepped up.

"Well when we pulled up to Med Alex was outside talking to Jay Halstead and looking all flirty. Kelly got jealous and jumped out of the truck. He walked over to them as we walked the last victims inside. When we got back to squad they were already arguing. Severide said something along the lines of she had terrible taste in men and then Alex through the whole Renee's thing in his face. She jumped out of squad and Severide told Tony to drive."

Once Cruz was finished Hermann stormed off to go find Kelly. Ready to tear him a new one.

"I didn't even know Hermann's face could become that red." Everyone moved closer to the bunk room waiting to hear how this was going to go.

Cruz and Capp betting on if Kelly would be alive at the end of this ass chewing.
