Stunned, Katsumi stares at the baby blue sky before her, feeling the ice cool breeze brush against her brown locks as her hand is outstretched, palm flat, smoke spewing out of her hands. She then falters realization soon washing over her when realizing…
"SHIT!" Screeching, Katsumi lunges towards the balcony placing her hand flat on the balcony railing, looking down only then to blink when feeling her hand land on another's as she stares down at the gloved grip on her railing as next thing she knew, she saw a yellow blur swing forward until she feels her nose touch another's. Her raw reds gaze into a pair of gleaming gold despite the coal black smoke smudge marks marred on his facial features.
"Now that was some hello." Chuckling, Hawks smirks at her as she simply stares stunned silently gaping at him taking a few steps back removing her hand from him, simply staring, her brow twitching, trying to comprehend what the hell was wrong with this guy before her?
"What is wrong with you?" Baffled, Bombarda questions him, her eye twitching pondering if he had truly been dropped as a kid.
"How about you? Do you know what time it is?" Hawks counters making her groan.
"Look just leave me alone would you? I'm really not in the mood for this." Tiredly, she sighs gesturing to him.
"This?" Coyly, he smirks leaning back, arching a brow bemused by her.
"You." Seriously, she confirms as she turns her back to him unaware of his gold hues darting down just as the breeze brushes causing the flannel dress, she wears to flutter revealing a pair of coal black boxes making him hum approvingly before shaking his head when hearing the slide of the door.
"Afraid I can't do that. Come on the early bird catches the worm although it's not really early anymore heh." Smoothly, he flicks one of his feathers stopping the door from slamming shut on him as she glares at the feather then him.
"…How long have you been standing there?" Tiredly, she demands from him as he hops off the railing, easily sliding the door open, towering over her as her raw reds glare up into his soft shade of his dilated yellow, staring down at her smirking, a sly smirk upon his lip.
"Eh a bit or so, I'm a bit worried about the ice cream to be honest." Smirking, he cranes his neck to the side as he reveals said bag before her eyes, her crimson hues widen when seeing said bag swinging from side to side.
"Give me that!" Angrily, she snaps at him lunging for it.
"Uh uh uh…" Teasingly, he chuckles smirking as he uses lifts his arm up with the bag in tow, towering over her as she seethes, snarling, glaring daggers at the smirking Hawks clearly amused at the women below him, looking ready to deck him right here right now if it weren't for the ice cream being held hostage.
"I'm not in the mood Hawks." Seething, she snaps at him, glaring daggers at him.
"Such a shame I'm in the mood for a chat maybe we can have it over ice cream?" Hopeful, Hawks offers teasingly making her body shake, quiver, quake almost like a volcano about to blast, steam spewing out of her nostril almost as Hawks chuckles at the sheer intensity of bloodlust emitting from her feral fangs.
"Like hell would I share my ice cream with the likes of you!" Enraged, she snarls, screeching, shouting at him.
"Now that isn't very nice, what's wrong with sharing ice cream? I mean if anything this isn't even yours or mine. It's your sidekicks." Hawks places his leg over the other, his free arm coiled around the balcony behind him, his fingertips flexing around the railing as he teasingly displays said bag before her.
"Just give it here." Fuming, she lunges for it only to falter.
"What's the magic word?" Smirking, he raises his hand gazing down at her.
"The magic word is fuck off and give me my fucking ice cream!" Crudely, she snarls giving him the middle finger.
"And we're back to the cussing. How ladylike." Dryly, Hawks remarks smirking smugly down at her.
"Oh shut up this coming from the guy talking to birds!" Smugly, she points out only to furrow her brow when noting him flinch from the observation, faltering briefly, tensing up at the notice making her smirk slightly at the slight win.
"I don't talk to them sometimes they make noises and I make noises back." Huffing, he grumbles, pouting childishly even making her sweat drop only then to falter from the genuine embarrassment, shame even from the point as she sighs slumping her shoulders.
"What flavour?" Tiredly, she asks bowing her head, her ruby reds softening slightly as she slumps her shoulders.
"Huh?" Hawks blinks baffled taken aback by the sudden softness of her voice.
"The flavour dumbass what is it?" Irritated, she barks at him, raising her voice at him.
"The ice cream? It says rocky road." Unsure, Hawks peers into the back, reading the label.
"Right…well what the hell you waiting for!?" Fuming, she snaps at him.
"H-Huh?" Hawks exclaims taken aback, his gold hues wide when gazing into her raw reds.
"GET YOUR DUMBASS OF A BIRD BRAIN IN HERE ALREADY! It's getting cold…" Enraged, she roars at him before turning on her heel turning to storm inside. His eyes widen when hearing her sharp snarl soften. She crosses her rolled up flannel sleeves up, over her chest shuffling inside. Hawke simply stares at her back, a faint ruby red tint to his cheeks as he looks away, internally screaming before…
"Alright, alright I'm coming, I'm coming…" Shyly, a small smirk crosses his lips as he shoves his hands into his pockets, slumping, slouching his shoulders. He bows his head allowing his wings inside as he makes his way inside…
"Aren't I lucky to have ice cream with the great Bombarda?" Jokingly, Hawks smirks as he sits on the barstool, leaning over removing his jacket, tossing it to the side revealing his black and yellow short sleeves turtleneck of sorts. She plops down a bowl before her, with one scoop of ice cream, sliding it over to Hawks happily taking the spoon offered. He chuckles amused leaning into the plush pillow of his glove when seeing Bombarda on the other hand on the other side of the table with a bigger scoop of ice cream in the bowl, glaring greedily at the snickering Hawks.
"Don't you fucking judge me." Scowling, she stabs her spoon into her ice cream.
"Hey, I ain't judging besides no one says no to free grub especially ice cream." Happily, Hawks digs into the food.
"Damn right." Grumpily, she huffs as she takes a spoonful.
"Still would you really call this breakfast?" Hawks furrows his brow lightly tapping the rim of the bowl with the back of his spoon.
"It is for me?" Mad, her raw reds narrow at him.
"Wait…you haven't eaten?" Taken aback, Hawks furrows his brow alarmed at the fact.
"Nope." Lazily, she shrugs, her raw reds glued to the rocky road below her oblivious to the look of shock on the horrified Hawks reeling back.
"Haven't you felt hungry?" Hawks questions, his brow furrowed, clearly concerned for the brunette.
"Not really no. Your ice creams going to melt." Simply, she shrugs continuing to enjoy her ice cream, before gesturing to his own.
"Well we got to fix that." Hawks states the fact of the matter arising from his seat, his hands on either side of the table, flat against the smooth surface making Katsumi blink befuddled by the sound of scraping metal and seeing the sudden moment in her vision.
"We are." Confused, she gestures to her ice cream below.
"NO I mean proper food." Smirking, he places his hand on his hip.
"Are you saying ice cream isn't proper food? Ice cream is a delicacy." Defensively, Katsumi says sternly, furrowing her brow at him only making him chuckle amused.
"I'm not saying that what I'm saying is you need some meat on you." Hawk tells her.
"Oh for the…this again?" Annoyed, she groans rolling her eyes as she places her hand on the smooth surface of the tabletop, leaning back frustrated.
"Come on let's get some Takoyaki it's time and you need proper food." Firmly, Hawks tells her.
"You only saying this because you want me to pay for our food." Frowning, Katsumi scoffs.
"Relax I know a guy." Smugly, he leans back on his seat.
"I can easily take that ice cream from you." Warningly, she sneers her eyes narrowing at him.
"I'm sure. But seriously? You're telling me you haven't eaten once? Not even a nibble." Concerned, Hawk's eyes soften sadly at her.
"Didn't feel like it." Lazily, she shrugs.
"Not even a teeny tiny bit?" He leans in his eyes narrowing, sceptical.
"No." Sternly, she snaps.
"Hey you…okay?" Hawk asks her in a gentle tone.
"Why do you care?" Coldly, she snaps scowling at him.
"I just do." Hawks shrugs.
"And that's a reason?" She furrows her brow at him.
"You look exhausted." He points out.
"Maybe if I didn't have my hands fucking tied by the commission." Coldly, she sneers glaring down at the ground.
"Hey you should have been prepared for what it means to be on the top ten." Hawks tells her.
"I didn't want to." She states.
"What are you on about? Everyone does." Hawks scoffs brushing her off.
"Not everyone. Being in the lower ranks allows more freedom, the spotlight isn't on you." She states making his yellows widen when hearing her words.
"I do see your point there." Hawks smirks leaning back.
"Sure you do." She scoffs rolling her eyes at him.
"What's that mean?" Hawks arches a brow.
"You live for the thrill, for the fame I see the way you play with your fans you enjoy it." Irritated, she sneers disgust drenched in her tone.
"Aw are you jealous?" Mischievously, he leans in wiggling a brow at her.
"For the third time I barely know you." Fed up, she snaps scowling at him.
"Doesn't mean you're not jealous." Hawks shrugs.
"Oh for the…no I'm not. If anything, I pity you." Frankly, Katsumi answers.
"Pity?" Perplexed, Hawks furrows his brow.
"Have you seen the way your fans talk about you? It's creepy." Katsumi answers.
"Yeah they can be a bit intense sometimes." Sheepishly, Hawks smiles scratching the back of his neck.
"Look why are you even fucking here?" Angrily, Katsumi demands fed up, placing her spoon down on the bowl, her eye twitching at him.
"Well I thought we would patrol together, get to know one another you know how it is." Eagerly, he winks, smirking smugly.
"Do you enjoy ruining my life?" Tiredly, she huffs her eye twitching once more at him.
"Honestly? Yeah. Now go and get changed." Hawks tells her as she takes back his bowl and her own, turning towards the sink only to frown when seeing the raw red feathers take the bowl.
"Are you telling me what to do!? Don't tell me what to fucking do!" Furious, she snarls snapping at him, her blood boiling, bubbling, burning as she leans over the sink slightly about to clean.
"You know you're pretty cute when you're angry." Chuckling, Hawks his back behind the sink, leaning over to crane his neck back smirking slyly at her, swiftly taking the bowls beginning to clean them.
"Die." Icily, she snaps huffing giving up on him turning to leave only then for her ears to perk up at the wolf whistle, hearing the crisp crunch of bone as she turns her neck.
"The fuck are you staring at?" Angrily, she turns to snarl at Hawk leaning over the table,.
"Nothing just enjoying the view." Sweetly, Hawke smirks as her gold hues dart down below making her gawk, raw red engulfing her facial features only making his smirk wider as she snarls, quickly leaning down and grabbing hold of her slipper. She tosses it at him angrily roaring. Smoothly, he smiles as a fleeting feather catches said slipper making her groan and storm off seething, snarling, her blood boiling, bubbling, burning…
Numbly, Katsumi stares at the person in the mirror, her hollow raw reds glaring back at her, her brown roots dangling down as she stares before sighing, slumping her shoulders. Quietly, she reaches towards the cabinet behind the mirror, turning the knob revealing the cupboard within seeing the three layers nested in the comfy cabinet where standing tall before her are a number of pills.
Surprised, her eyes expand when next thing she knew the girl staring back in the mirror changes slightly having holler cheeks, a paler complexion and her once blazing burning fiery hues now nothing more than ambers. She stands wearing a towel fidgeting flinching when her smaller self reaches out to her arm unaware of her own self doing the same only for them both to grimace at the sudden emptiness….
Softly, the shower sprots out the teeny tiny raindrops of water shooting out of the shower like projectiles, bouncing off the snow white floor below of the bathtub. Shakily, her younger form exhales as she enters the bathroom, taking the towel off and doing her normal routine or so she thought. They had asked her, she remembered they had asked if she wanted them to help her? Help her? How was she to get better if she couldn't do it alone? How was she to save others when she couldn't save herself? She remembered her blood boiling, bubbling, burning at the sheer nerve of them, she wasn't the top of her class for nothing! She wasn't the one who made that stupid speech at that tournament for nothing! She wasn't the best of the best for nothing! She was strong, she was powerful, she was the best student and yet here they were looking at her as if she were glass. She was a hero, heroes aren't weak, they couldn't be, they refused to be, babying her at every moment, pitying her….she remembered the screams she shouted at both her parents before storming off into the bathroom, brushing aside a pair of lone red watching her every single move remembering his look, his stare, his face of pure pity. She hated her mother, she hated her father, she hated them all…
Steam spews out of the shower as next thing she knew, she screamed, she saw a blur of white before next thing she knew, she was screaming, the tears freely falling from the sheer searing sensation of falling on her lighter side as she tried to get up. She dug her nails deep into the tiles of the smooth snow-white floor trying to make her way to the door despite the searing sensation, despite her blurry vision, despite the faint leakage of the ruby red river slightly ruining her vision. She whimpered, curling in on herself as she screamed, shouted, cried out to her family, she wiggled trying to break free from the shower curtain coiled around her like a cocoon as if a spider had trapped her within its wicked web leaving her there helpless, stranded. She screamed to the top of her lungs but no one came. The water that came crashing down, that descending down muffling her screams as the tears freely came until…the door finally opened.
How many minutes had it been? How many hours? It felt like centuries until the door swung open where her glassy red meet a similar shade of scarlet staring stunned as next thing the two siblings knew as she opened her mouth…
"Katsumi!" Mitsuki and Masura rushes over to her side, helping her up as she clung on bowing her head, the tears freely falling shame clear as day upon her face as she bursted into tears, the two holding their crying daughter as a pair of blood red watched on horrified.
Scowling, Katsumi flinches from the memory groaning shaking her head, trying to focus on the task at hand. She reaches out to the cabinet where she finds her arm resting waiting for her, why was it here again? If she remembered right she had a shower so removed it, must have left it here overnight…she places her fingertips around the metallic limp, inserting it into the holster of sorts upon her stump, ignoring the sharp searing sensation flowing through her shoulder. Hissing, she grabs hold of her shoulder, sitting down on top of the toilet, grinding her teeth together, feeling her body shake, quiver, quake. She waits for the mirrors to pass as if it were an earthquake before after a moment of steady breathing, it ceases and she stands.
Right now, that, that was out of the way she could…she looks towards the mirror reaching out to the bottle only then to gasp, recoiling back from the sharp slam of the door opening.
"Come on Bombarda the early bird catches the worm." Impatiently, Hawks calls out to her, her gold widening when seeing her glassy raw reds glaring daggers at him as she swiftly slams her eyelids shut banishing such tears to the side.
"The hell is wrong with you!?" Sharply, she snaps at Hawks.
"Shoot, hey look you were taking a while and…" Hawks sighs slumping his shoulders.
"What if I had been naked?" Frustrated, she barks at him.
"Huh?" Hawks gold widen when hearing the question.
"What if I had been naked dumbass!?" Enraged, she snaps at him.
"Then I would have apologised and admired the view." Slyly, he smirks smugly only to see her twitching red seethe snarl at him.
"What is fuck is wrong with you?!" Snarling, she screeches reeling her fist back aiming for a punch which he easily dodges, craning his neck to the side as he hears the explosion from behind.
"Calm down would you? It's not like I haven't seen a naked body before." He brushes her off as she feels her blood boil, burn, bubble.
"Oh for the…that isn't the point you dumbass. You don't just burst into the bathroom? Didn't your mother ever teach you that?" Tensely, she demands from him only to falter from the brief flinch from him.
"Look just…just don't scare me like that alright?" Sighing, she slumps her shoulders, her raw reds softening as his own hues widen when hearing her words noting the sudden shift of temperament.
"Alright. Hey you need…?" Awkwardly, Hawke gestures to her arm making her eyes narrow.
"No." Curtly, she snaps.
"You sure?" Hawk presses only to see her sharp glare.
"I'm fine." Firmly, she snaps at him.
"Right then well who's ready for patrol?" Perkily, Hawks smiles clasping his hands together beaming brightly as the scowling Katsumi simply brushes him aside, shoving him to the side with her shoulder. She storms off with him chuckling, following behind her as they leave the apartment, swiftly locking it then heading out to patrol.
