Pairing: Will/Jake
Rating: T to be safe.
Author's Note: ….I got bored of writing angst okay? Argh, I love reading angst but when it comes to writing it, I struggle. Anyway, what I hope is a cute and fluffy piece awaits you!
(Btw, my reviewers from "I Swear I can Fly", can you see that the third chapter is up? For some reason, I keep seeing it as two chapters are up, but once you get inside, the third one is available for view. Strange.)
This is YAOI, please do NOT read if you do NOT like it. Thank you.
+ Rose Petals +
Jake stared at the rose bush with an intensity Will was curious about. He had searched the bush with his eyes several times to ensure their wasn't some secret code embedded on the leaves…or some unlucky traveler that had gotten stuck in it's thorns. But nope, nothing of the sort.
…So why was Jake staring at it?
Will got to his feet and nudged his concentrating brother with his foot, watching as the younger man squeaked and nearly toppled over. Graceful, something Jakob Grimm will never hope to accomplish.
"I'm going in, come back soon, you're going to catch a cold." He had said, then walked into the Inn and back to their room.
When a few minutes passed and Jake still hadn't come back, Will grunted and hopped to see his feet, right about to open the door when it creaked open before he could touch the handle.
"Jake?" Will stared curiously at his sibling who was twirling a single rose between his bleeding fingers. "You're bleeding…"
Jake smiled sheepishly and closed the door behind him. "Yea…I…the rose bush, I wanted to pick one---ah…"
Somewhere between his ramblings Will had picked up his hand and was now licking softly at the bleeding punctures, making his younger sibling squirm and blush.
"W-Will…"
Wilhelm looked up from his ministrations and raised an eyebrow. "There's no one here, dear brother, it makes this…" He sucked lightly on one of the smooth digits and grinned fiendishly as Jake made a sound torn between a whimper and a gasp. "…acceptable."
Jakob retracted his hand, blushing madly as he again fingered the prickly rose.
"By the way Jake…" The older Grimm studied the rose as well. "…why were you staring at the rose bush? It looked rather like you were staring an old lover down."
"Oh." Will noticed Jake's tone had become serious and slightly wistful.
"Why…do roses represent love…when they always die?"
Will blinked, eyes softening as he caught the flash of sadness in Jakob's expression. "Oh Jakob…" He murmured, pulling the younger into his lap and resting his forehead against Jake's.
"Are you comparing our love to that rose's life?"
Jakob looked ashamed but nodded in spite of himself. "Y-yes…I'm sorry, brother."
"The rose is merely a symbol of beauty, sure it may die, but in a rose bush, there isn't just one rose. There are many! So when that one rose dies…it doesn't matter, the others carry on living for it."
"And when all of them die?"
"When all of them die…" Will brushed his lips lightly against his brother's and felt his shudder in his arms. "…They will carry on in the afterlife."
Jake let a soft smile grace his lips. "You're not talking about roses anymore are you?"
"Nope." Will took the flower from Jake's hand and plucked off a petal, smoothing his rough thumb over it's silky surface before pressing it to Jakob's slightly open mouth.
He left it there and bent, kissing both the rose and Jake at the same time. "Our love…will never die…Jakob."
And he removed the petal, kissing his brother, his love, his life for all he was worth.
