"So this is the place." Perkily, Hawks shoves his hands into his pockets, arching a brow at the house before him, a rather modern house as the two stand before the Bakugo household.
"Yep." Unfazed, Katsumi confirms shrugging her shoulders, she wears a loose grey jacket, the sleeve folded up slightly while the other dangles down with her hand sliding into her grey jogging bottoms. She wears a pair of coal combat boots with a sow white tank top underneath her jacket.
"Pretty nice place you got here very modern." Merrily, Hawks nods his head as Katsumi couldn't help but furrow his brow by the faint forcefulness in his tone, noting his strained smile, noting the shy sweat drop descending down his tense temple.
"It's what you get from parents being in the fashion industry." Katsumi tries to change topic, trying to ease his nerves, trying to at the least comfort him in a way with the three having that in common.
"So anything I need to look out for?" Hawks asks arching a brow at her in his casual clothes.
"Not really I mean…my old hag of a mother has a temper sure but you probably know from work what my mother's temper like…" Katsumi offers unsure scratching the back of her neck removing her hand from her pocket to do so, having no real clue what to say.
"Well…I knew she threw a chair at Mirko." Humming, Hawks places his forefinger to his chin at the murky memory.
"Yeah…makes sense. I'm sure you'll be fine just be yourself yeah?" Katsumi glances to the side at the thought.
"Yeah…what about your dad?" Hawks asks as Katsumi spots the faint flicker of anxiety in his tense tone.
"Hawks… Look my dad gets along with everyone." Calmly, Katsumi tries to assure him however…
"Even the guy whose shoes he vomited on." Hawks furrows his brow at the thought.
"Especially the guy whose shoes he vomited on." Confidently, Katsumi places her hand on his shoulder squeezing said shoulder as his gold glance down, meeting her ruby reds nodding her head assuring him it will be fine just as the door slams open to…
"Took you long enough! You're getting old you lil shit!" Shouting, Mitsuki hollers smirking smugly at her daughter as she approaches her daughter, not batting an eye to Hawks standing to the side idle as Mitsuki drapes her arm over her child, bringing her head down to grind her fist into her head.
"I hoped you would die before I got here!" Hollering, Katsumi counters smirking smugly at her mother, escaping her hold as the two smirk smugly at one another, a glint gleaming in both their ruby reds oblivious to the fidgeting feathery hero that is Hawks, eyeing the two. His gold glance between mother and daughter unable to not see the comparison between them, seeing a fair few assets that Katsumi acquired from her mother.
"So you're the one who tamed my daughter! About fucking time!" Smirking, Mitsuki swiftly slams her hand hitting Hawks back making Hawks gawk, salvia spewing out of his mouth almost scarlet smearing it almost as Hawks swore he heard the crisp crunch of bone from behind, feeling as if all the wind in him had been snuffed out with one swift strike.
"What's that supposed to mean you hag?!" Angrily, Katsumi snaps sharply at her cutting Hawks off.
"It MEANS you're always so annoying but so picky with people! I'm surprised anyone would want to date you. And he's pretty!" Pleased, Mitsuki places her hand on her hip turning to Hawks, eyeing him up and down smirking smugly at Hawks freezing up from the sudden spotlight. A spotlight, he would normally relish, enjoy to his hearts content but instead just as he opens his mouth to say something when he finds his tongue tangling up...
"Aw thank you miss Bakugo but not as pretty as you." Hawks cheekily chirpily winks at Mitsuki.
"…" Scowling, Mitsuki stares at Hawks, sweat slithers slides down Hawks.
"…" Perplexed, Katsumi shares her mother's lost look as their scarlet shades meet looking equally as confused.
"The fuck you say? SPEAK CLEALRY!" Loudly, Mitsuki barks at Hawks taking Hawks aback by her sharp shout.
"E-Eh? I was just saying how pretty you are!" Anxiously, Hawks raises his hands up in mock surrender.
"Kiss ass much?" Mitsuki sneers scowling, her cold crimson glaring, glowering at him before turning on her heel, heading inside.
"Ma!" Katsumi sighs calling out to the woman watching on as she strides into her home huffing.
"Well…I see where you get your temper from." Flimsy, Hawks tries to recover smiling at Katsumi, trying to lighten the heavy air around them only making Katsumi sigh pinching the bridge of her nose, exhaustion etched into her already fatigued features from that dreadful start.
"Yeah ma can be…interesting sometimes look don't let that get to you she's like that with everyone." Sighing, Katsumi tries to cheer Hawks up.
"Right…" Hawks sighs shakily, smiling softly as he follows her inside, the two enter the Bakugo household, eager to see what waits for them both.
"Katsumi mind helping your father he's cutting veg." Mitsuki calls out as she sets the cutlery down preparing the table.
"On it." Katsumi nods her head heading into the kitchen.
"How about you let me miss Bakugo?" Surprised, Mitsuki furrows her brow by the sudden bright blue of ruby red smoothly sliding in, swiftly stealing said cutlery from her placing them down. Hawks easily tries to take control making Mitsuki furrow her brow at his fake smile.
"Eh? Are you stupid!? You're out guest now sit down and relax." Resolute, Mitsuki sternly scolds Hawks anger laced in her tone as he flinches from her sharp screech.
"Um…okay?" Meekly, Hawks smiles strained at the boisterous blonde, finishing up the table.
"So…Hawks you're interested in my daughter." Dutifully, Mitsuki furrows her brow as she sits down on the sofa, one leg over the other, her ruby reds glaring into his glinting gold.
"Kat is a good friend of mine." Kindly, Hawks begins as he takes a seat opposite her grimacing at the heavy atmosphere swarming surrounding the two.
"Kat?" Mitsuki's scarlet narrow into an ice thin glare.
"Sorry Katsumi she's a really great person, she doesn't care about what people say, she does what she wants, she-" Shyly, Hawks smiles strained as he attempts to explain himself however…
"I think I know my daughter." Sternly, Mitsuki cuts Hawks off.
"Right…right…" Nervously, Hawks chuckles glancing to the side.
"I wish the same could be said about you." Mitsuki remarks unamused.
"What would you like to know?" Hawks asks smiling softly trying to be polite but…
"Your intentions with my daughter." Deadpanned, Mitsuki states as Hawks freezes from her words.
"Hm?" Hawks hums, arching a brow smiling strained, feeling his feathers flutter, feeling more sweat slither down his tense temple.
"I know you, I've seen how you work with all those women wrapped around your little finger, all over you." Snippily, Mitsuki points out brow furrowed.
"Is…is that right? Heh…well nothing wrong with making friends." Feebly, Hawks tries to dismiss but…
"You think leading people on from friendship?" Frowning, Mitsuki snaps sharply scowling.
"Well…I mean…" Meekly, Hawks squirms slightly from her ice-cold glare.
"I've seen how you are after parties the models are all over you. So tell me what would someone who enjoys feeding the fans want with an anti-social recluse like my daughter?" Scowling, Mitsuki demands from the boy before her squirming slightly from her ice-cold glare.
"…Well that's what I like about her?" Hawks squeaks squirming slightly scared almost.
"What?" Mitsuki curtly cuts him off.
"She anti-social, it's the way she is and I really…really like that about her how she doesn't care what people think of her the way." Hawks reveals, a shy soft smile upon his lips, lovingly staring down at the floor below, his fingertips entwined with one another, a shy faint flicker of ruby red smeared upon his chiselled cheeks.
"But are you the same? Or would you throw her under the buss like so many other models I've seen you do." Disgusted, Mitsuki sneers as a heavy silence hangs heavily between them both, Hawks having no words when suddenly a hand places down a tray with two drinks on the tray.
"Dad thought you'd want a drink, " Unaware, Katsumi exclaims oblivious to the pleading look of fear sent her way by Hawks watching her give the drinks to either of them.
"Thanks love." Mitsuki smiles softly at her daughter passing her another drink.
"Here Hawks." Katsumi passes another drink over to Mitsuki.
"Thanks Kat…" Hawks smiles shyly strained at Katsumi furrowing her brow by the familiar fake smile plastered upon him.
"Things going well?" Worriedly, Katsumi questions, a faint tone of concern clear in her tone.
"As well as they can be." Bitterly, Mitsuki remarks making Katsumi scowl, scarlet slide from either side of the table, having no clue what to make of this atmosphere almost as if blades were dangling down from the ceiling where with one false move, Hawks would have blades impaled all over him.
"Things are fine Kat. " Katsumi's crimson hues widen when Hawks assures her having no real clue what to make of it all.
"Right…I'll leave you two to it." Awkwardly, Katsumi nods her head taking the tray then turns her back to them, heading back to the kitchen.
"Well then clearly you don't think of my daughter that highly if you hadn't even given her your name." Coldly, Mitsuki remarks brow furrowed. She leans over the table, her fingertips coiling around the thin handle of the teacup, coyly taking a shy sip of said substance, feeling warmth waft in her mouth. She enjoys her tender tea, oblivious to the fidgeting feathers of Hawks, flinching from her words, bowing his head, his features darkening from her words, having no words for once, having no rebuke, having no defence for her words. A still silence hangs heavily between Mitsuki and Hawks, neither of them having anything more needing to be said…
"Thanks for helping with the veg Kat." Grateful, Masaru meekly thanks his little girl as the two tend to their kitchen duties, Katsumi tending to chopping the chillies, making sure to keep the seeds intact while on the other hand Masura focuses on the dish, keeping the flickering flame intact keeping it alive as he cooks the mail, a apron on with please don't kiss the chef.
"It's fine. So how's mutant month been?" Katsumi asks brow furrowed she knew how stressful this month had been for them, the two had prepared for this month prior for all their plans and preparation to be thrown aside for this sudden change was stressful, still at least they were prepared for next month.
"Well…it's been something I hear you were involved in a shoot." Masaru fretfully furrows his brow concern clear on his face.
"Oh one of these villains I was chasing down was arrested near there." Aloofly, Katsumi brushes it off.
"Are you alright?" Anxiously, he questions worried, placing his hand on her shoulders.
"I'm fine dad." Sighing, she places her hand over his, a soft small smile upon her lips, rolling her eyes at him.
"Really?" Masura furrows her brow still worried as she places her hand over his.
"Really." Calmly, Katsumi assures him, squeezing her hand.
"Is your arm aching at all or…?" Uneasily, Masura asks anxiously eyeing her folded sleeve.
"It's fine Dad it is." Sighing, Katsumi calms her father down.
"Right…" Masura returns his focus to his food furrowing his brow.
"How have things been with Bakugo?" Katsumi decides to change her topic noting her father's fretful nature needing something to change the topic to ease his worries.
"He's…well we had our ups and downs but you know how it is you know him." Masura sighs sadly bowing his head at the thought of him.
"But what about you dad? You and mum this probably isn't easy for you two." Truthfully, Katsumi argues, she loved her father she did she knew how sensitive he could be she saw first-hand what happened when she lost her arm.
"It's…it's been difficult Katsumi I mean…I'm…I'm so sorry." Sniffling, Masura whispers, adjusting his thick black lenses as Katsumi notes his lenses fogging up. He takes them off, using the back of his hand trying to wipe away the tears then try to clean his lenses.
"Dad? Hey, hey what's wrong?" Worriedly, Katsumi takes control of his side of the cooking, stopping it from burning as she then places her hand on his shoulder, concern clear upon her furrowed facial features, looking him over.
"We didn't even celebrate your birthday we were so focused on Katsuki that that…." Miserably, Masura bows his head ashamed almost disgusted, acting as if he neglected her making Katsumi sigh.
"Dad…Katsuki went through a lot it's natural. Has he spoken to anyone yet about it all?" Katsumi asks her father.
"Not that I know of all he's been doing is train. We tried to get him to a hospital, they said he was fine but he refused to go to therapy said it would get in the way of training." Upset, Masura confesses making Katsumi sigh.
"Of course he'd say that. Hasn't he spoken to his friends at all?" Alarmed, Katsumi asks, she knew how her brother was he was stubborn for him to accept help like that…she knew how he felt about it, she knew form the looks he gave her when she went.
"Not that we've seen if anything he's come back home earlier than usual." Masura shrugs his shoulders sighing.
"Oh yeah?" Katsumi raises a brow.
"No more late nights for him." Masura concludes.
"Guess he really is being serious about it is." Impressed, Katsumi takes note of.
"He really did want to enter U.A and look at him now." Softly, Masura smiles.
"Yeah…at the top why am I not surprised?" Smirking, Katsumi exclaims.
"Yeah…" Masura nods his head, sniffling slightly.
"Dad? What's wrong?" Katsumi furrows her brow at her father.
"S-Sorry I just…you're our baby girl and we just…we didn't even celebrate it…we should…we should have…" Ashamed, Masura begins brow furrowed making her sigh.
"Dad it's okay really it is." Earnestly, Katsumi reassures her father.
"I don't deserve a daughter as great as you." Masura bows his head.
"And I don't deserve a dad like you, come on chin up. It's just a birthday there's one next year." Softly, Katsumi smiles trying to comfort her father.
"But…" Tamely, Masura begins but…
"Dad I'm too old for it anyway Hawks helped out on that front." Frowning, Katsumi cuts her father off stating said fact firmly to him.
"He did?" Masura's brown hues widen when hearing her words.
"Yeah, tried making a birthday for me I mean he tried making a pancake and called it a birthday cake which technically it is I mean it has cake in it." Katsumi offers.
"Wait…he made you a birthday cake?" Mystified, Masura says shocked.
"Yeah I had no clue how he did it I come home exhausted and next thing I know I'm on the roof candlelight's all the works." Katsumi smiles shyly at the memory oblivious to her father's hues expanding when seeing the faint scarlet shimmer burning her cheeks.
"He…did that…all for you?" Softly, Masura whispers staring shocked at her doing a doubletake.
"Eh I was thinking it was some snaky way to have takeout but yeah it was….nice." Sheepishly, she smiles shrugging her shoulders.
"Katsumi does he…does he make you happy?" Seriously, Masura asks her.
"Hm? " Humming, Katsumi raises a brow at him.
"Hawks does he make you happy?" Sternly, Masura questions her.
"Well…yeah have you seen the shit he sprouts out it's hilarious!" Fondly, Katsumi chuckles at the memory.
"No I mean are you happy having him in your life?" Masura sighs sadly, furrowing his brow at her.
"He's- Katsuki hey welcome back!" Katsumi begins brow furrowed unsure only then to jolt up sharp slam of the door. The two warmly welcome him home. He shoves his hands into his pockets scowling at the group before him, his raw reds glaring, glowering at the tall ruby red feathers from a certain blonde on the sofa.
"…Why he's here?" Scowling, Katsuki glares at the blonde before him.
"Katsuki!" Scowling, Katsumi catches on, glaring at her brother but before she could say anything else, he turns his back to her stomping up the stairs, heading up.
"I'll go!" Urgently, Hawks jolts up at the voice of Hawks.
"Huh?" Masura, Mitsuki and Katsumi share a look turning to Hawks standing up.
"I'll talk to the champ!" Cheerily, Hawks insists.
"Hawks hol-" Worried, Katsumi calls out to him, brow furrowing as she tries to stop him, he didn't need to. He didn't really know the boy but she soon sputters from feathers flimsy being shoved in her face from the ruby red blur brushing past her.
"On…." Katsumi finishes her sentence staring at the fleeting feathery figure practically shooting up the stairs flying almost as he urgently heads up, leaving the lost Katsumi with her parents who she turns to seeing her father's sheepish smile. Her mother simply scowls down at the magazine article on the table, sipping her tea not batting an eye to the blonde blur in their household.
Silently, Katsumi stares up at the top of the stairs scowling, her brow furrowed having no real clue what to make of this sense of unease. She should have gone up there, she should have stopped him. She knew what he was trying to do, she knew why he was doing this, she knew him all too well. Katsumi couldn't help but squirm slightly at the panic throbbing in her chest conflicted.
"So…what do you think of him?" Hopeful, she turns to her parents, furrowing her brow when she sees her father's sheepish smile squirming slightly. His browns dart over to the woman sat straight perched upon her sofa, sipping her tea as a still second hangs heavily in the air before…
"He's fucking fake." Furious, Mitsuki snaps slamming her cup down on the table before them which cracks in half, coming apart from either side.
"Mitsuki…W-We haven't paid off the mortgage yet…" Worriedly, Masura points out, his voice cracking breaking broken at the sad state of his table now from that simple slam of the cup be broken in half.
"What was that honey? Speak clearly!" Loudly, she yells at her husband.
"…Urgh…" Tiredly, Katsumi groans pinching the bridge of her nose exhaustion etched into his fatigued features as she watches the chaotic pair that were her parents.
"I feared he'd do this." Groaning, Katsumi moans out loud.
"Feared what sweetie?" Softly, Masura asks her.
"Urgh Hawks is….look he means well he just doesn't know you yet." Sighing, Katsumi attempts to explain.
"So he thinks sucking up to us is going to get him far?" Frowning, Mitsuki passes her cup over to her husband.
"It's all he knows." Katsumi sighs.
"Katsumi we're just concerned…" Masura's fingertips fidget around the cup.
"I can take care of myself!" Fed up, Katsumi snaps scowling at the two.
"We know you can but this guy…sweetie we've seen him at work, women are all over him. We don't want you to be used." Mitsuki attempts to explain to her.
"Look ma I trust Hawks I know he wouldn't do that." Katsumi sighs.
"How can you trust someone whose name you don't even know?!" Mad, Mitsuki demands from her daughter.
"Ma…!" Katsumi calls out to the woman storming off towards the kitchen.
"Just leave her sweetie she just needs time to breath. " Sighing, Masura tells her daughter leaving her, passing her said cup as Katsumi sighs, following her into the kitchen.
"Hey champ…" Cheekily, Hawks smiles softly. He opens the door smiling when seeing Katsuki sat slumped on his bed brow furrowed at the sheer sight of the hero.
"The fuck you want?" Katsuki sneers, his legs to his chest, glaring daggers, deranged ones at the blonde before him.
"Thought I'd come say hi see how you were doing?" Smiling, Hawks leans against the doorframe of the door, arms crossed over his chest.
"…And what laugh?" Katsuki sneers scowling at the memory of all those faces some faces fearful, others gleeful, smiling, almost enjoying seeing him struggle, seeing him suffocate seeing him teasingly touch death's door. He wailed screamed, shouted, pleaded for it all to stop seeing nothing more than their smiles as the pros did nothing but simply stare. He struggles, as he tried to fight on, as he…
"Laugh why would I laugh?" Hawks snaps Katsuki out of his thoughts flinching at the memory, his fingertips gently brush against his throat tightening up at the memory making him grimace.
"Of course fucking not, you'd smile wouldn't you? It's what all you fakes do." Disgusted, Katsuki seethes sneering disgust dripping down his tone, his raw reds seething.
"Oh I'm a fake now am I funny!" Feebly, Hawks tries to brush Katsuki off chuckling, trying to ease the tight tension of the room resonating throughout however…
"You're a waste of space is what you are." Angrily, Katsuki seethes snarling, spitting poison out almost.
"…Pardon?" Hawks smiles strained from his words flinching from his words.
"You're a waste of air, you're a waste of breath, you're a waste!" Fed up, Katsuki stands up from his bed, anger laced in his tone as he shouts at her.
"You certainly like the word waste don't you?" Amused, Hawks tries to brush him off only further frustration Katsuki who grinds his teeth together, frustration flowing through his veins. He feels his body shake, quiver, quake feeling the tremors coursing through his veins similar to a volcano about to explode about to spew lava out as he feels his blood boil, bubble, burn.
"You're wasting my sister's time. You're a waste on her." Honestly, Katsuki states the fact firmly, teeny tiny explosions emitted from the tips of his fidgeting fingertips curling in on themselves forming a furious fist, feeling nothing but rage and the urge to deck the hero before him.
"…Is that right?" Hawks remarks his voice cracking breaking briefly trying to be composed despite the strained smile gracing his lips.
"What are you even playing at? All you're doing is holding my sister back. If you're here just to try to play with my sister just cause she doesn't see you as those lowly extras do doesn't mean she never will. My sister's smarter than that." Truthfully, Katsuki explains to Hawks unaware of Hawk's fingertips digging deep into the fabric of his sleeve shaking.
"I don't see your sister as that." Hawks tells him but…
"Not but you see her as a game everyone knows how much of a fuck boy you are. My sister deserves someone who knows about loyalty who doesn't fuck with anything that moves. So why don't you do us all a favour and kill yourself!" Katsuki smirks sadistically, his ruby reds gleaming glistening as he reels his fist back, explosions sputtering out of his hand about to strike at Hawks whose hues narrow, ready for whatever is thrown his way, ready to detain the boy before him only then for his bright yellows to widen when suddenly a hand catches Katsuki's wrist, stopping him.
"That's enough Katsuki." Surprised, both boys turn to the stern strict voice, Katsuki's raw reds clash against a familiar pair of brown as Hawks stares at his saviour being…Masura.
"Enough!? You and I both know he's a fuckboy. He's only bringing trouble to Kat!" Katsuki snaps sharply scowling yelling at his father furrowing his brow at his son, scowling.
"I said that's enough Katsuki." Sternly, Masura tells Katsuki, his brown staring into his son's scowling ruby reds.
"…" Angrily, Katsuki clicks his tongue huffing, swiftly snatching his arm free from his father's grip, placing his other hand over his wrist. He feels his fingertips flex around the wrist, drawing, rubbing patterns into his wrist moving his wrist around a bit brow furrowed, grinding his teeth together frustration flowing through his veins at the sheer nerve of his old man.
"Look why don't you head down check on the food?" Frowning, Masura sighs shakily, exhaustion etched into his fatigued facial features adjusting his thick framed glasses.
"…Fine." Huffing, Katsuki shoves his hands into his pockets, loudly stomping his feet down on the ground below, descending down to the lower floor focusing on the task at hand, tending to the kitchen food.
"Sorry about him Hawks you alright?" Sighing, Masura slumps his shoulders, closing his eyes tiredly. He turns to the surprised Hawks concern clear upon his furrowed features.
"Y-Yeah! Of course I am." Anxiously, Hawks smiles strained.
"…You really should drop the act." Tiredly, Masura advises Hawks, once again adjusting his black thick lenses, trying to give him some advice, having grown tired of the charade the pro portrayed.
"The act what act?" Chuckling, Hawks laughs uneasily sheepishly shrugging his shoulders placing his hands up in mock surrender trying to brush it off with a hollow heckle. But Masura simply stares at the boy before him before sighing, bowing his head almost disappointed.
"You'll never get far in this family if you keep up this perfect act of yours." Sternly, Masura warns Hawks, crossing his arms over his chest, being strict.
"Huh?" Hawks blinks baffled, taken aback.
"The reason my daughter befriended you was to see the real you so why wouldn't you think we'd want to see you the same way." Masura reveals to Hawks.
"…I….I'm sorry?" Strained, Hawks smiles squeaking slightly.
"It's fine." Frowning, Masura sighs.
"No I mean about the shoes…" Sighing, Hawks slumps his shoulders staring shyly down at the floor below.
"That was nothing." Masura raises his hand flat to Hawks assuring the surprised Hawks.
"I doubt that was nothing." Scoffing, Hawks shakes his head.
"I'm sorry if my wife also said some hurtful things she just gets a bit protective over her sometimes." Sighing, Masura scratches the back of his neck.
"It's…I should have expected it" Hawks snickers shyly trying to ease the tight tension.
"Hawks…is it true?" Masaru asks him taking Hawks aback.
"Hm?" Hawks hums arching a brow at him.
"When my daughter came back after the sludge incident, you made dinner for her." Masura reminds Hawks.
"Oh she told you?" Hawks blinks taken aback.
"Yeah…why did you do that?" Masura's eyes narrow.
"Well…knowing Katsu she'd hold it in pretending she's okay, pretending she's fine when she really isn't." Nervously, Hawks hollers hollowly smiling strained once more as he places his hands behind his head.
"You know my daughter that well?" Masura asks.
"You could say that. It was her birthday too I overheard you two and thought to celebrate it." Honestly, Hawks confesses smiling shyly.
"…I heard you tried to make pancakes." Amused, Masura chuckles slightly.
"…Yeah I was thinking of buying a cake but…" Hawks trails off grimacing at the murky memory of the flaming fiery cake.
"Thank you." Masura bows his head.
"Hm?" Hawks furrows his brow baffled.
"Thank you for doing that. That was very kind of you. You didn't have to do that." Masura tells Hawks.
"But I wanted to. Your daughter's been really kind to me she just…when we first met each other I was weird, I never met someone like her and I was…I was practically stalking her until well…" Shyly, Hawks smiles shyly at the memory, scratching at his cheek coyly.
"Well what?" Masura exclaims.
"She punched me in the face." Hawks smiles.
"Hahaha!" Masura bursts out chuckling.
"Something funny?" Frowning, Hawks asks.
"That just…that sounds so much like Katsu…she speaks highly of you, you know." Fondly, Masura smiles softly.
"…She overestimates me." Miserably, Hawks bows his head disheartened.
"I don't think so. You clearly do care about her." Masura points out.
"Look sir I promise you I'm not…" Hawks sighs raising his hands in mock surrender once more.
"I know." Masura nods his head.
"You do?" Hopeful, Hawks asks.
"I've seen the way you look at her even when drunk but…" Masura exclaims.
"But what?" Hawks furrows his brow.
"You need to understand our daughter, we nearly lost her once. We were lucky she just lost her arm. She lost a vital part to her quirk, she could have died, losing her arm…changed her. She refused to go outside, to eat, to even drink, she couldn't even look her brother in her eyes…it changed her greatly but overtime she…she got better. She still suffers from time to time but she doing what she can day by day and with you by her side…I think you're helping her a great deal Hawks. It relieved me to know that if my daughter has a fall or struggles, she isn't alone…we try to keep in touch, phone her if she's having one of her dark days but…" Miserably, Masura grimaces, bowing his head pained at the memory, blinking back the tears threatening to fall his lenses beginning to fog up at the memory.
"There's only so much that you can do." Helpless, Hawks sighs sadly knowing well what he means, he had seen her miserable episodes a fair few times.
"Yeah…You may have proven yourself to me you still need to prove yourself to Mitsuki even if I did talk to her, actions speak louder than words in this family." Firmly, Masura explains to him.
"…Is that right?" Hawks exclaims.
"Yeah. Look if you really want to fit in you got to let go stop this hawks thing." Tiredly, Masura places his hand on Hawks' shoulder.
"…Thank you Mr Bakugo." Hawks stares surprised at the hand on him before bowing his head, taking a moment before smiling shyly at Masura.
"No problem…" Masura smiles softly at Hawks nodding his head leaving Hawks alone descending down to the staircase below, brow furrowed, returning to his task of cooking.
"Ma can we just talk…" Tiredly, Katsumi sighs as she leans against the kitchen counter, hopeful for her mother to listen to reason. Gently, she places the cup down on the counter below seeing her mother furiously slice and dice the food on the board below, scowling, seething, steam spewing out of her almost like a quivering, quaking volcano about to erupt. Meanwhile while the mad Mitsuki grinds her teeth together, trying to focus on the task at hand hoping for it to use her anger to cook. Meanwhile while her mother does so, blanking her out. She looks to her side, perking up at the sharp sound of the staircase groaning below, announcing the appearance of the fleeting figure. She sighs, noting her brother brushing past them, glaring, glowering at the two, a study of heroics in his hand with a notepad as he sits down on the sofa before the TV, attempting to study.
"Why? No matter what I say it's not going to get through that thick skull of yours." Seething, Mitsuki seethes as she then throws the sliced ingredients into the mixture before sliding it into the bubbly foam of water in the sink, furiously scrubbing at said boards below.
"Look Ma I know you're worried and I appreciate that but you got to trust me. I can take care of myself." Katsumi sighs furrowing her brow by her mother's rapid motions with the sponge, seeing flickers of the green side of said sponge be practically torn to shreds from the sheer intensity of her mother's cleaning.
"I know that but that doesn't mean I don't worry you're my daughter for fuck sake!" Seething, she sharply snaps as she tries to clean the plate despite the dish washer being slushed from side to side.
"Ma…" Katsumi begins brow furrowed looking apprehensive over the ruined remains of said sponge once soft spongy floor even like a cloud now nothing more than a jagged ragged ruined remains of what it once was.
"I already lost you once, I saw you hurt so bad from that loss and seeing you get hrut again by that fuckboy I just…I don't want to see you get hurt again." Anguished, Mitsuki confesses as she slams the sponge into the soapy water below seeing shy streaks of steam spew out of the boiling pit of lava almost as Katsumi simply stares at her mother's hunched over form, seeing her mother gritted teeth trying to keep it together, trying to be strong…she really was her mother's daughter alright.
"Ma I'm a grown adult I can look after myself." Groaning, Katsumi sighs at her mother furrowing her brow at him.
"I know that I just…" Mitsuki seethes swiftly slamming her fist down on the counter below.
"Ma you said this already." Annoyed, Katsumi remarks noting the cracks spreading out form the broken countertop, a part of her lucky her father wasn't here after the table who knew how her father would react, she just hope he wouldn't faint…
"You haven't see him at work sweetie everyone's all over him, women and men just gawking going googly eyes at him and he doesn't reject a single one he lets them just…how can you be comfortable around that?" Mystifed, Mitsuki demands from her daughter.
"Because I trust him ma." Katsumi sighs furrowing her brow in disapproval at her mother.
"How can you trust someone whose name you don't even know!?" Baffled, Mitsuki demands from her.
"Because that's my job, I work with Endeavour and I don't know his real name." Katsumi brings up.
"Do you live with him?" Scowling, Mitsuki demands making Katsumi sigh rolling her eyes.
"I do not live with him." Huffing, she scowls watching her mother reach out to a magazine nearby.
"The magazines would beg to differ." Scowling, Mitsuki slams down the magazine showing her on her balcony, eating ice cream from the tub, her brown roots dishevelled, no doubt having one of her off days wearing a dressing robe of dark ruby red with Hawks perched on the railing of said balcony, his own tub of ice cream in his hand. The two simply eat, enjoying the view above oblivious to the camera below.
"You trust the magazines over me?! We're just eating ice cream at that. What's the problem!?" Perplexed, Katsumi demands from her mother.
"My problem is his fans, they are terrifying I've seen them loiter around the shoot, sometimes they'll sneak into the set and cause chaos. We have to hire bodyguards because of that guy! These people are dangerous, I've seen them attack models! Threaten models through emails, many of our models have been forced to leave due to these freaks expose details about them online. These freaks have ruined lives, ruined careers ruined people. I just want to make sure you're okay." Mitsuki explains to Katsumi her brow furrowing at the thought.
"Ma I love you but please you have to trust me I mean have to trust other heroes when it comes to arresting a villain and I don't know their names…" Katsumi offers.
"But…" Mitsuki begins however…
"Ma…I get why you're scared trust me I'll admit I have had to deal with his fans but that isn't going to stop me." Katsumi states the fact firmly, it was her job she has to trust in order to do her job.
"Katsumi…" Mitsuki sighs furrowing her brow.
"I'm sorry ma but by leaving Hawks, by leaving him behind I'm letting those lowly extras that call themselves fans win and that ain't my style." Smugly, Katsumi smirks.
"Kat…" Mitsuki scowls.
"Come on ma you know me, I ain't the losing sort." Smirking, Katsumi tells her mother just as the two perk up at the beeping of the oven making them jolt up at the oven turning to each other.
"Look…I think…I think it's best we head home." Tiredly, Katsumi sighs slumping her shoulders, feeling a strange pain in her stomach.
"Kat…" Mitsuki begins brow furrowed calling out to her, reaching out to her as she brushes her mother off, heading out of the kitchen.
"Hawks!" Katsumi calls out brow furrowed, having lost her appetite, not quite sure what to make of any of this feeling an array wave of emotions conflicting with one another from fury, sorrow to disappointment even as she called out to Hawks, wanting nothing more than to leave.
"We'll be heading off see you." Sighing, Katsumi furrows her brow at her parents. She crosses her arms over her chest cross while Hawks stands by her side, shoving his hands into his pockets smiling sheepishly at the trio before him.
"It was nice meeting you miss Bakugo." Hawks smiles strained at Mitsuki offering his hand out to the woman simply scowling, standing between the kitchen and living room, crossing her arms over her chest, her scarlet scowling at his glistening gold.
"Katsuki get your ass over here!" Mitsuki huffs refusing it as Masura furrows his brow at his wife simply placing the food down on the table. Katsuki huffs standing up from his study session, taking a seat as Mitsuki pours a portion for him.
"Mr Bakugo." Hopeful, Hawks turns to Masaru furrowing his brow at his family.
"It was nice meeting you Hawks." Meekly, Masaru smiles softly clasping hold of his hand, accepting it, shaking it bringing a small shy smile to Hawks, his feathers fluttering, perking up giddy at the small sliver of acceptance.
"Katsuki. It was nice to meet you too! Hope we can talk more next time!" Hawks calls out to the boy gritting his teeth together, feeling fury flow through him.
"Who says you can use my name bastard!" Bakugo snarls screeching, jolting up from his seat, said seat behind him comes crashing down behind him as they hear the sharp slam of said object falling flat to the ground.
"Katsuki…" Warningly, Katsumi furrows her brow placing her hand on her hip, disappointedly staring at her baby brother but Bakugo doesn't bat an eye to it.
"Hmph." Katsuki huffs turning away from her clicking his tongue at her dismissing her making Katsumi sigh sadly, shaking her head at him.
"See you dad." Gently, Katsumi whispers placing her hand on her father's shoulder squeezing it.
"Stay safe sweetie." Sweetly, Masura smiles as Katsumi simply nods her head as the two leave the Bakugo household.
"That…was exhausting…" Exhausted, Hawks groans as Hawks leans over the balcony as Katsumi kneels down to the vending machine, her ruby red twitching when the drinks she ordered falter from the tight grip of the holder. Frustration flows through Katsumi as she simply clicks said vending machine just as the drinks come clattering down. Katsumi bows her head, shakily slightly. She crouches down taking the drinks and joining Hawks side passing him the iced coffee can which she too has her own.
"I'm so sorry." Sighing, she furrows her brow at Hawks, feeling nothing but guilt and disappointment wash over her while he opens the drink.
"Hm?" Hawks hums sipping said drink.
"My parents I just…urgh they can be so fucking frustrating!" Fuming, Katsumi seethes as suddenly the can in her hand is engulfed in smoke leaving the coffee to have scorch marks all over the plastic can.
"You…you okay?" Hawks asks concern clear in his furrowed facial features from her fury.
"Yeah shouldn't I be asking you that? You should be the one pissed." Katsumi states scowling, opening her drink gulping it down.
"I'm fine." Hawks assures her draping his wing over hers.
"Hawks…" Worriedly, Katsumi furrows her brow at him.
"I-I'm fine." Hawks smiles strained, his gold glistening.
"Hawks you don't have to be fine." Firmly, Katsumi assures him, squeezing his arm before placing her hand over his.
"Your dad was nice at least you were right about that." Tentatively, Hawks smiles shyly, slowly sliding his hand over to hers squeezing her hand.
"Hawks…" Sighing, Katsumi furrows her brow at him as he bows his head, leaning in, nuzzling into the crook of her neck.
"….It's fine." Feebly, Hawks whispers, his voice cracking briefly breaking Katsumi's heart as her scarlets soften sadly down at him.
"Not it's not you were clearly uncomfortable, my brother clearly said something or my mother…" Scowling, Katsumi points out.
"You saw?" Hawks arches a brow.
"You're not the only ones with the eyes of a hawk you know." Katsumi remarks.
"To think your little reds were on me I'm honoured." Hawks remarks raising a brow bemused, a shy smile upon his lips nuzzling her neck further.
"Shove off dumbass look I don't know your history with families and stuff so if I forced you." Sighing, Katsumi confesses to him brow furrowed.
"You didn't I wanted to meet them even if they didn't want to meet me." Hawks reminds her.
"Oh come on…" Katsumi scoffs scowling at Hawks.
"You saw what happened…" Hawks huffs.
"Look my parents are just…protective of me especially since….just don't take it to heart yeah?" Sighing, she furrows her brow not quite sure what to make of the experience.
"…Yeah." Hawks nods his head.
"…Alright you don't have to tell me anything about your past but I will say this. If you truly want to get long with my family you need to let go." Katsumi tells him.
"Let go?" Hawks raises a brow befuddled.
"Be yourself Hawks, my family aren't going to accept you if you act like the hero Hawks they want to meet you, the person I'm spending time with, the person that burns pancakes, the person that wanders through the apartment with nothing but their boxers on, they want to know the person who practically lives with me." Fondly, Katsumi explains to him.
"…You…you think so?" Softly, Hawks furrows his brow.
"I know so. I know they may not like you at first but all good things take time." Tentatively, Katsumi says to him.
"So….you don't think I'm…?" Shyly, Hawks sheepishly scratches his cheek.
"Hawks I know you, I know you care for your fans the situation you are in is difficult as it is. I know you, I trust you enough to know you wouldn't cheat, you're no player." Confidently, Katsumi states the fact firmly.
"Kat…" Hawks hues widen when hearing her words.
"I mean it I mean it's how I got to like you." Katsumi shrugs looking out at the view before her.
"…Kat?" Hawks blinks baffled, a heavy hue of ruby red dusting his cheeks from her words.
"It's getting late, come on let's go home okay? We can order some takeout or something my treat." Casually, she shrugs, tossing her can to the bin.
"Your treat?" Hawks smirks joining her side throwing the can in the bin nearby.
"Yeah I owe it you after that dumpster fire…" Katsumi chuckles hollowly.
"Thank Kat." Hawks smiles softly at her.
"Don't be I owe it to you especially considering what you'll be going through tomorrow." Teasingly, Katsumi teases him.
"Tomorrow?" Confused, Hawks furrows his brow befuddled.
"The monster mash remember?" Smirking, she reminds him.
"Oh that…great." Grumpily, Hawks huffs his wings lowering at the reminder.
"Come on let's head back." Katsumi takes Hawks hand in hers taking him aback, his gold glistening, gleaming, the heavy hue of ruby red deepening, darkening.
"Back to the nest?" Hopeful, Hawks asks.
"Back to the next." Katsumi nods her head, the two smiling, Hawks temple touching her own as they leave, heading out…
