I was watching Harry Potter the other day, and a crossover fanfiction idea came to me! In this, (most of) the main Harry Potter characters are switched out for Pokémon characters, but I decided to go with the Harry Potter last names, if that makes sense. The story starts after Moon (Harry Potters replacement) finds out about Hogwarts and is ready to board the train. Just assume that her backstory is the same as Harry's because I can't be bothered writing it, sorry.
Enjoy!
Chapter One: Arrival at Hogwarts
Moon pushed her trolley around Platforms Nine and Ten, trying to find where she needed to go.
"Come on, don't want to be late to Platform Nine and Three Quarters," an older man said, steering a boy through the crowd.
"Excuse me?" Moon called.
"Yes, dear?"
"Um, could you tell me how to get onto the platform?" Moon asked.
"Of course!" the man said cheerfully. "It's my grandson's, Hau's first time too."
The boy smiled in Moon's direction but couldn't hide the nervousness in his face.
"So all you have to do," the man continued, "is run straight at the wall between Platforms Nine and Ten. Hau, how about you go first?"
The boy swallowed anxiously, but ran at the wall, pushing his own trolley in front of him… and he passed right through the wall.
"You see? It's quite easy," the man said. "Best you do it in a run if you're nervous."
Moon nodded and copied the boy. And she made it to Platform Nine and Three Quarters.
"Excuse me," the boy from before asked Moon. "Is it okay if I sit next to you on the train? I don't know anyone here."
"Oh, yeah, sure," Moon said. "I'm Selene, by the way. But please just call me Moon."
The boy frowned. "I'm Hau. Hau Weasley. Are you… a Potter?"
"Yes, that's me."
Hau stared at her wide-eyed. "Are you really? Do-do you have the… scar?"
"Yes," Moon said, moving her low fringe aside, showing the boy her crescent moon scar, the thing that apparently made her so famous.
"Wicked," Hau said, smiling hugely.
On the train, Moon and Hau sat alone in a booth before the door opened.
"Do you mind if we sit here?" asked a girl. She was already wearing her robes and had white-blond hair and green eyes. "Everywhere else is full."
"Not at all, come on in," Moon said, moving her small backpack onto her lap.
The girl was followed by an older boy, probably in the next year level, too with the same blond hair and green eyes. But his hair covered one of his eyes, and he was also wearing his robes, but his tie had green and silver on it, whereas the girls was plain.
"My name's Lillie Malfoy, and this is my brother, Gladion," the girl said.
"I'm Hau Weasley," Hau said, holding out his hand to her. She shook it shyly.
"And I'm Moon Potter," Moon told Lillie as she sat down opposite her.
"Really?" Lillie said as Gladion sat down beside her, getting out a book, ignoring everyone else.
Moon nodded.
After a while of silence, Lillie said, "So which house do you guys want to be in?"
"Hufflepuff for sure!" Hau said immediately.
"Um, I didn't grow up with any of this… what are the houses?" Moon asked.
"Oh, well every student of Hogwarts gets sorted into one of four houses," Lillie explained. "Gryffindor is the house you get sorted in if you are risk-taking, reckless, a little ambitious, and kind-hearted. Hufflepuff is the 'nice' house, but everyone knows they have a very strong competitive streak. Ravenclaw is the smarter house, that's where you should go if you have high intelligence. And, finally, Slytherin. Slytherin is the ambitious, 'mean' house. All the dark wizards have come from Slytherin, but I have a theory that they just wanted to be in the same house their mentor. I personally think it's the best house, because it's so full of interesting characters."
"I think I'd probably want to be in Gryffindor," Moon said. "It seems like the least categorised house."
"And I guess I should probably hope for Slytherin, seeing that my whole family is in it," Lillie said, a little sadly.
"I think you'd do well in Ravenclaw," her brother stated without looking up from his book.
Lillie said nothing.
"Anything off the trolley, dears?" asked the woman serving sweets as she walked past us.
"I'm good, thanks," Hau said.
"Could I get a caramel slice?" Lillie asked.
"Anything you want, dear," the trolley lady said, handing her a paper bag.
"I'm all set," Moon said.
Gladion was silent, still reading.
"Gladion, do you want anything?" Lillie asked. Her brother shook his head. The trolley lady walked away, asking other students what they would like.
"Not one to talk, is he?" Hau whispered to Moon before turning to the older boy. "So, Gladion," he said. "You're already in Hogwarts, yes?"
Gladion gave him a glare for interrupting his reading.
"That's right," he said. "I'm in my second year now."
"Slytherin?" Hau asked.
"Yes." Gladion returned to his book.
"Not the best at socialising," Hau whispered to Moon again.
"No," she whispered back in agreement. "Are all Slytherins like that?"
"No, most of them are mean."
"Like, ignoring people mean?"
"I can still hear you," Gladion said loudly. Moon and Hau both stopped instantly, turning red. Lillie giggled.
"I think you two should change into your robes," Lillie said. "I expect we'll be arriving soon."
"You will each be sorted into one of the four houses," the woman was saying to all the first years gathered in front of her. She wore a long green robe and a black wizard/witch hat. "Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. When I return, you will proceed in two lines down the middle of the Great Hall and will sit one-by-one on the stool in which I will place the Sorting Hat on your head."
When she left, the chatter almost immediately started up. One voice spoke above them all.
"So, it is true," one of the boys stated. "Selene Potter has come to Hogwarts."
The voices died down quickly, everyone turning to stare at Moon.
"My name's Kiawe. Kiawe Finnigan." The boy held out his hand. Moon shook it.
"Please just call me Moon," she said.
"First years!" the woman from before called. "Come with me."
They followed her down the isle in the middle of the Great Hall. There were two long tables on both sides of them, running the length of the large room. The other students
sat on the tables, each wearing different colours and emblems. Moon guessed that these were to represent the separate houses.
Gryffindor, Hau had told her, was the red and yellow themed table with the lion on the emblem.
Hufflepuff was represented with a badger, themed with the colours yellow and black.
Ravenclaw student were dressed in blue and bronze with a raven on their emblems.
Slytherins colours were silver and green, with a serpent to represent them.
Moon spotted Gladion sitting close to the teachers table on the Slytherin table, glaring at no one in particular.
"Professor Dumbledore would like to say a few words," said the woman, who was now holding a tattered old brown hat.
"Welcome, students," said an elderly man who was seated in the centre of the teacher's table. "Another year at Hogwarts! A few things to mention before the sorting ceremony, the third floor is strictly out-of-bounds for every student. No exceptions. Thank you, Professor McGonagall."
The woman, presumably Professor McGonagall, opened a scroll and read out the name at the top of the list.
"Lana Bones," she said. A blue-haired girl sat nervously down on the stool and the old hat was placed on her head.
"Ah, yes," the hat said, startling Moon. "Gryffindor!"
Lana looked relieved and made her way to the Gryffindor table, where the students were cheering and clapping.
"Mallow Longbottom," McGonagall called.
"Hufflepuff!"
"Hau Weasley."
"Hufflepuff!"
"Lillie Malfoy."
"Hmm…" the Sorting Hat seemed stumped. It had sorted everyone else quickly, but with Lillie… "You're hoping for Ravenclaw but will do well in Hufflepuff. Slytherin? No! I think I'll put you… Ravenclaw!"
Lillie got up and walked over to the Ravenclaw table, her face a mixture of happiness and guilt.
"Kiawe Finnigan," McGonagall said.
"Gryffindor!"
"Sophocles Creevey."
"Ravenclaw!"
"Selene Potter," she said, the hall filling up with small whispers at the mention of Moons name.
Moon bit her lip and sat down.
Almost immediately, the Sorting Hat cried, "Gryffindor!" and that was that.
The Gryffindor table cheered as Moon sat down next to Lana and Kiawe, giving a thumbs-up to Hau over on the Hufflepuff table.
After the sorting ceremony had ended, the students ate and went up to their dormitories.
Moon was sharing a room with Lana and a couple other girls. She'd found that Rowlett and her other things had already been brought up.
That's all for now!
