Chapter 53

As she went on, her voice filled with emotion, Capricorn was sure that whatever news she had for him would be the worst, but then she seemed to stop. His hand was still on her cheek, but it didn't keep her from looking away.

"Meggie, there is no need to be so upset, whatever it is we will figure it out. We will manage it together" said Capricorn there was a warmth to his voice that she found incredibly soothing, but still the knot in her stomach didn't lessen.

Meggie found herself looking at him with a deep fear in her eyes that was not of him, but of the situation itself. It was all so foreign to her, the very idea itself, and the child wasn't even here anymore. She couldn't even think of that though especially sitting there with him now. She knew she just had to say it, but the words didn't slip out so easily. Meggie suddenly shook herself free of him, his hands falling away from her, but she drew him close within the same moment. Meggie took his face in her hands, she needed to look at him now, and she concentrated on breathing. On the act itself and him and the child growing inside of her. It was all there swarming around in her head urging the words out of her and Meggie could only look at him praying that what he said only moments before was true.

"I'm going to have your child. We're having a baby" exclaimed Meggie, a final elusive breath of relief leaving her as the words were out in the open.

Meggie didn't take her eyes off him then as she awaited his response. When he said nothing at first, her hands fell away, and she was waiting for some sort of reaction. A bad one at that, but he seemed frozen then as he processed all the things she'd just said. The longer his silence lasted, the more Meggie felt her heart speed up, and she could feel her world slipping away.

She turned her body away from him then as he seemed to take in the words she had just said. Meggie kept telling herself to breath, but even that wasn't doing her any good anymore. Her heart felt ready to burst from her chest and still he had said nothing. It all began to overwhelm her as her breathing became heavier and then heavier still until Meggie felt as the panic was zooming through her veins. It gripped her whole body and Meggie couldn't come up for air. For Capricorn, the words, the second she said them everything else seemed to fall away.

"I know now is not the time for a child to be born. I understand if your disappointed in me or angry. I'm sorry" exclaimed Meggie, the words coming out in between great heaping gasps of air as she tried to keep the room from spinning but failed.

The words were swirling all around her. Everything was swirling all around her as Meggie wrapped her arms around herself and she found she couldn't look at him. Because none of this was possible. Not now, when they weren't even on the same plain, and yet she was having a baby. It all made no sense especially when there was no way of knowing when they'd be together again without the help of a potion. That was going through both their minds in that moment, but while it left Capricorn's, it didn't leave Meggie's.

Capricorn found himself thinking of the child they would already have if not for his mother and her father.

"There's nothing to feel sorry for, my love, this child is a blessing especially after what happened to our last" whispered Capricorn the clouds of his mind lifting as he came back to reality feeling only happiness at the news, she had delivered him.

"Meggie, my love?" whispered Capricorn only moments after that when he finally looked at Meggie again only to find her in a state of distress, her back turned, and her breathing completely out of control.

Instead, she was bent over with her head between her knees, she was trying to calm her breathing, but failing completely.

"Meggie?" exclaimed Capricorn, trying to make her look at him, but finding she wouldn't.

Her hair shrouded her face from everything. Her hands were bone white as she clutched at her arms as she held herself and as he tried to lessen her grip on it, Meggie shook him away. Nothing felt stable or okay and when he touched her, she jumped.

"I'm pregnant…I'm pregnant…and I'm alone…and your gone. Now was the worst time to bring a child into this world" exclaimed Meggie, Capricorn could see that she was panicking, and yet he couldn't tell her she was wrong.

These were the same thoughts that had been on his mind only moments ago, but that wasn't as important now. What he needed to do was calm her down before she passed out due to all this anxiety. He had never seen her this way before, and he found it scared him as he kneeled before her in his efforts. He knew none of this would be good on her or the baby.

"My queen…you need to calm down, everything is going to be already. We can do this. You and I, there has never been anything we couldn't do, and we will manage this just as we have everything we've done together. You are my strong, beautiful, queen. You are the strongest woman I've ever come across and you will pass that onto our child. That strength is one of the many reasons why I love you, why I love you more then anything within this world. I need you to calm down now because I assure you, we will figure this out" exclaimed Capricorn, he held her in his arms now, rocking her gently as he spoke, and it was then that she started to calm, her breathing slowing.

Her breathing returned to normal and yet she didn't move. Not until her arms went around him and her head rested on his shoulder. Everything was so still in that moment until she drew away until their eyes met again. There was a deep sense of foreboding about her still, but as they looked at each other then everything seemed to fade until it was just the two of them.

"Are you mad at me?" said Meggie gently beginning to sit up.

"I understand…if you are…I've messed everything up" whispered Meggie, looking down at her hands as they shook nervously, but then he kissed her cheek somehow seeming to make it all go away within one instant.

That was when she looked at him finally giving him the chance to kiss her lips.

"I'm not mad at all. I love you, Meggie, you are my wife. You're my queen…and now you're going to be the mother of my child. I thought I loved you before, but that was nothing compared to how I love you now. You mean the world to me" exclaimed Capricorn, he said it as their lips parted.

Meggie felt a type of thrill then as his eyes ran over her. She had always liked the way his eyes would run over her this way, but this was different. His eyes seemed to settle on her stomach, on the life growing there, and there was a purity in his stare that astounded her. There was a new appreciation there, a new love there too. One different from the one they had had, and she found herself curious about it as it lingered.

"You're having my baby" whispered Capricorn then seeming to smile at her, at the way her hands cradled her belly, and he found he wanted to worship her as she sat there flat bellied, but heavy with his child just the same.

Her hands were already cradling her stomach and as he came to cover her hands with one of his, he also used his other to draw her into another kiss. She hadn't smiled since they'd come here. She'd had a frown on her face, an eternal look of worry, but as he kissed her with a passion, Meggie found herself drawing away from him. When she did, she couldn't help the smile that came as it burst from somewhere inside her, and as their foreheads touched there was a glistening type of delight in them now.

"Maybe everything is falling into place, even if the pieces aren't exactly as we planned" said Meggie, her voice gentle as his arms stayed firmly wrapped around the entirety of her body.

She thought that all those times he held her before that those were when she had felt the most loved, but those times were nothing compared to now. When he held her close, cherishing her, and loving her. He had always treated her like a gift, some gift he wasn't expecting to get, and yet, here she was with him. They were going to start a family and that was sacred to both of them now as they sat there together. That was when he pulled her into his lap, her legs automatically spreading to straddle him.

"I love you" whispered Meggie in that moment, finding she just wanted to look at him, to see him there with her while he still was, and pressing her body into the shape of his, she couldn't help the sigh of relief as it left her because she knew that soon enough, they would be apart again.

All her anxiety was suddenly gone as she looked at him as all the scenarios in her head seemed to fade away. The truth was she had been afraid he wouldn't want the baby or that he would think that the baby wasn't his. It was those possibilities that had made her heart pound so aggressively. The thought of him believing either of those things had torn her in two, but now that those anxieties had faded to dust, she couldn't think of them anymore. She just wanted to focus on him, on being here with him after such a long separation, and in that moment, it made her grateful for the very fact that he was hers. It made her kiss him, her lips holding his as her body pressed close to his.

"I love you and I've missed you" exclaimed Meggie, her kisses tender until it fell into one long heated kiss that was deep and fiery, his arms holding her just as tightly as before as hers went solidly around his neck.

"Are you alright?" whispered Capricorn finding he wanted to breath her in as he held her, so close after, so much time apart.

As he asked, Meggie immediately knew she didn't have an answer, and Capricorn seemed to know that right away. The second she started to cry, he was already wiping them away, but then Meggie drew him close.

"I don't know…I don't know if I can do this alone. Capricorn, I've only ever known two things, my life with Mo, and my life with you. I can't even remember my own mother…I have no idea how I'm going to be one myself. I don't know anything" exclaimed Meggie letting him hold her close.

She felt as he placed a kiss on her neck before pulling back at look at her.

"None of that matters because I already know how loving and tender you will be to our child. You will be better then your mother or mine. And soon, very soon…we will be on the same plain again…I promise you that" exclaimed Capricorn feeling as she hugged him close then not drawing away.

"I love you, Capricorn, falling in love with you was the greatest achievement of my life" whispered Meggie finally looking at him.

She kissed him then and this time she didn't stop it from turning to passion.
