Yellowfang peered from the medicine den that she had always knew she belonged. Sagewhisker was peacefully dozing in her nest, her chest faintly rising and falling. Yellowfang watched out the entrance to the den, but stared getting restless waiting. She hauled herself up, stretching her aching muscles, and quietly padded to the warrior den. She prodded Raggedpelt, and he woke, his amber eyes blinking to adjust to the darkness. "So sorry Yellowfang! I forgot!" Raggedpelt lifted himself off his nest, and together the two cats padded out of the entrance to the camp.
Yellowfang entwined her tail around Raggedpelt's, breathing the comforting scent of his long fur. She relished every moment of the time she got with him, since her medicine vow had made it practically impossible for her to be with him. She had wanted to be his mate desperately, but Raggedpelt hadn't asked her to be his yet, and she wasn't the type to ask first. The faint glimmer of the dawn sun pierced the dark sky, meaning that they must return to their nests. With a sigh, they both said their goodbyes and headed back to the camp.
Foxheart was brushing her fur with Raggedpelt's, clearly making an effort for him to notice her. He looked up at her politely, then bent his head back down to enjoy his meal. Yellowfang watched as Foxheart attempted to entwine her tail with his, but Raggedpelt quickly moved his tail in the other direction, looking at Yellowfang desperately as she tried very hard not to purr in amusement. Foxheart noticed Yellowfang's amusement to her rejection, and started walking towards her.
"You think it's funny, huh?"
"What do you mean?" Yellowfang stared at Foxheart.
"That Raggedpelt rejected me. But he's mine, and will always be. Why don't we ask him who he likes more?" Foxheart retorted confidently, and Yellowfang knew that all storm was about to break loose. She didn't want to look scared, so she nodded, and the two she-cats padded up to Raggedpelt.
Yellowfang woke, feeling that the dream of her being attacked was all too real. She hadn't slept well, wondering what Foxheart would do to her, since Raggedpelt had rejected Foxheart and admitted that he loved Yellowfang. But, the pain of her dream felt...too real. She opened her eyes, only to find Foxheart clawing her, and had one paw posed on Yellowfang's exposed throat. "You will pay!" Foxheart screeched, but before she could deliver the death blow, the weight of her lifted off. Yellowfang watched as Raggedpelt threw her aside, and hurried to check Yellowfang's injuries. His soft paws pricked her matted fur, and she felt that she would get lost in his gorgeous amber gaze. He returned a longing look, then sighed, and headed straight to the leaders den, leaving Yellowfang wondering what he was up to. Raggedpelt went in alone, but came out with the leader by his side.
"All cats old enough to lurk in the shadows, join at the Clanrock for a meeting!" Cinderstar yowled loudly. The entire clan gathered to hear what he had to saw, leaving Raggedpelt looking ashamed amidst the blur of pelts.
"I have just learned that something has been going on behind my back. Foxheart has attempted to murder Yellowfang, so she is hereby banished from the clan. Raggedpelt and Yellowfang have secretly become mates, and since that is a clear violation of the warrior code, they are now also banished." Cinderstar finished with a flick of his tail, indicating that the banished cats should leave.
Yellowfang and Raggedpelt lay side by side at the barn where they made their home, love flowing between them like a river that never runs low. They gazed into each others eyes, then down into the cute little eyes of the kits that Yellowfang had just birthed. Maybe life as rogues on the barn wasn't so bad, and maybe...just maybe could this just be the beginning. The beginning of their small family, a life that Yellowfang would never turn her back on.
