Okay, just to clarify in case people are wondering about the continuity of this chapter. The combat training episode was day 2 of school I believe, and in the episode after that it was mentioned that the press had been there for 2 days. Meaning that episode three should be either day 4 of school, or day 5. This chapter takes place on day three of school, the first day that the press had arrived.

Now that I have that out of the way, enjoy!

School had ended for the day. He was hoping that Shihouin would remember the offer she made to him, and he had no doubt she would.

His mother had commented that he looked oddly excited when he had gotten home. He was excited. While him and Shihouin weren't at all friends, he was still happy that anyone would offer him assistance.

Izuku wasn't too sure how the training would go, given the difference in strength between their two quirks. He was sure Yoruichi could hit harder, run faster and endure more punishment to her body than he could. He tried to think of what kind of work they'd do, then the doorbell rang.

"I'll get it!" Izuku shouted, standing from his desk chair and bolting for his bedroom door.

He opened his bedroom door at an excited pace. The door hit an end table and almost knocked an All Might figurine off his table. Izuku had to quickly double back to keep the figurine from falling off his table, causing a slight delay.

"It's fine, Izuku," his mother called back. "I'll get it."

With his All Might figure no longer shaking and ready to fall, he was able to leave his room to catch up with his mother. He ran down the hallway to the living room, just in time to see his mother open the door.

"Hello!" His mom greeted the guest. "Who may you be?"

"Yoruichi Shihouin. Is this the Midoriya household?"

"Shihouin!" Izuku shouted happily at his classmate.

"Oh!" His mother gasped in surprise. Izuku's mother turned towards him, legs wobbly and tears of what Izuku could only interpret as happiness. While her thoughts were incorrect, she did seem overjoyed at Izuku's guest. "You brought girl a over! You're finally growing up!"

Izuku's face went a bright red, not at all appreciating his mother's assumptions. "I-it's not like that! W-we're just classmates! Right, Shi-... Shihouin?" He looked at where she once stood to find nothing.

"Nice place." Her voice came from behind him, startling the kid into a jump. His mother repressed a snicker.

He looked over to the door way. Her shoes were already off. It amazed him how many actions she can preform in just a short timeframe, moving at the speed she could. He was really itching to write about her quirk, but he held out, for the sake of the promise he made to All Might.

"So..." she began, clapping her hands together and holding them in place. The sound immediately called the attention of the Midoriya family. The two pairs of eyes were on her now. "... I wanna know what you can tell me about your daily routine. A workout schedule specifically, if you have one."

She was jumping right into it, no need for any introductions. Not like there needs to be.

Izuku hummed in thought. "Umm... I mainly focus on full body. My workouts started with primarily pulling heavy objects and long distance runs, now I'm just trying to maintain it."

"Alright," Yoruichi replied, nodding her head. "Take off your shirt."

In that one moment the room fell silent. Izuku's mother fell over onto the floor, seemingly unconscious, surprised at the strange and sudden request, and Izuku became redder than ever before.

"C'mon, it's not like I'm asking you to strip completely."

"I-I mean, it's j-just that... I-I'm..."

"Relax, dude. You get changed in the boys locker room all the time, this isn't any different."

For most people – now that he thought about it actually, for everyone except Shihouin – it was very different. The girl had no problem stripping her entire outfit during a combat simulation match (aside from what's attached to her arms and legs), but asking someone else to do what most wouldn't do in front of the opposite sex was a bit too much.

Her act was the talk of the class today. What she did was neither expected nor normal. To Izuku, at least, Yoruichi was asking him to go halfway to what she did. The girl was shameless.

"I just wanna see what I'm working with. You can put your shirt back on in a moment. Now do you want my help or not?"

He did want her help, hell, he'd like anyone's help. Especially All Might's. But Izuku was still hesitant to entertain her request. He still wasn't sure if this was actually a method of help or her trying to get off on his embarrassment.

Honestly from the look on her face, it was probably a combination of both.

"Why don't we undress together," Yoruichi playfully suggested, lifting the collar of her shirt to be at eye level with her. If it makes you more comfortable..."

Izuku tried to speak but his words got stuck in his throat. His mouth bobbed up and down, his upper and lower teeth smacking together making a sound like clam shells being clacked against each other.

Yoruichi let out a loud laugh. She really did get off on the secondhand embarrassment of other people or just making them extremely uncomfortable. "Midoriya, seriously! It's so easy to do that to you!" She exclaimed with a barely suppressed laugh, no longer trying to hide her amusement. "If we're gonna get this going though, I can leave the room if you'd like?"

"Th-that would b-be helpful," he replied, his entire body shaking in an anxious mess

With a slow nod, she did. Yoruichi left the living room for the hallway, letting Midoriya to take off his shirt. Sliding each arm through the shirt's sleeves, he couldn't help but think if this actually served any purpose. For every moment they wasted here, All Might was worried.

Yagi did ask to supervise the exercise just for safety reasons. Midoriya did mention quirks may be involved, but he wasn't sure. All Might said he would be there to make sure that it didn't get too out of hand, but Izuku felt like there was more to it than that. He had been rather insistent on coming, when really he thought that Yagi would be ecstatic about Midoriya being able to do workouts independent of him.

"M-my shirt's off!" He nervously called for the girl who was waiting just around the corner.

He was nervous at the idea of anyone but his doctor, mother, or the other boys in the locker room seeing him shirtless and that still took too much time to get used to. It still made him anxious a bit. If his face wasn't already red, it was now.

She walked over to him, eyes looking primarily at his back as he looked over his own shoulder at her. Soon her gaze shifted towards the back of his arms. "Your shredded, dude."

"Th-thank y-you?" He replied, his words sounding more confused than grateful – not to say he wasn't.

Shihouin finally reached his front. She looked at his entire torso, from his pectorals, his shoulders and his core. She nodded, and gave a half-hearted chuckle.

"Yeah, you've done work."

Yoruichi approached the boy, taking a hand and placing it along the left of his chest. She tried squeezing, only to be met with what shared more of a rock-like texture than fat or muscle. She looked up at Izuku, who had become completely red in the face, rife with a feeling he couldn't place his mind on.

She snickered silently, stepping back from the boy and retrieving her hand from his skin. "Put your shirt back on," she ordered, her voice sounding like it was coming out from a laugh.

In a rush, Midoriya scattered to grab his shirt from the floor. Hurriedly he redressed himself, putting his deep grey sports shirt back on before standing to face Yoruichi again.

"W-what next?" He asked, his voice slowly regaining its composure.

"Let's go!" She announced, marching towards the exit before Izuku called out to her.

"Actually," he started, halting her momentum. "My mom..."

"Oh! We should probably pick her up," Shihouin admitted.

"The couch should do just fine," Izuku advised. "Let's move her there and let me leave her a note letting her know where we're going."

He had received a text from Midoriya about thirty minutes ago. The moment he did, he rushed out of his home to reach Takoba beach before they did. He had to be careful about it though. His form as All Might was the only thing that could outpace the two on feet. The several crimes he had to intervene in didn't help speed him up, but it was irrelevant to him getting there in the end.

All Might couldn't risk her possibly wanting to harm Midoriya. She let him name the time and place, which was probably a way to get him to lower his security around her. But that was only if she knew about One for All, or knew if Midoriya was even remotely related to him.

Even with all that, he couldn't risk it. Just in case, he asked to tag along with the two of them. When he found out that Izuku asked Shihouin his heart nearly dropped, but his concerns were alleviated when she said he could if he wished.

Of course he could simply say "no" to Izuku training with Shihouin and be done with it, but Izuku would ask questions. He'd be upset and want to know why, which he rightfully would be upset about. But he wasn't ready to know that information, so All Might decided to let him do it.

When he arrived at Takoba beach, no one was waiting for anyone. There were no villains waiting to ambush the two, no hidden traps to kill the kid, nothing. Only a few passing civilians that walked along the shore. He had checked every possible hiding space and every single inch of the beach.

It could be that Shihouin didn't know about Izuku and himself, therefore not having an incentive to hurt the kid. It could also be that she genuinely meant no harm by it and really did wish to help him.

Even though it was slow, he saw himself beginning to let his guard down around her. The girl seemed like a normal girl, just trying to get by. Of course there was the incident during combat simulation, but the class had collectively agreed to ignore that it had ever happened. Of course there was the exception of a small, purple-haired, perverted boy, who's certainly going to keep that memory to himself. All of that aside, she was just another person, unrelated to any villains that may want to do harm.

Yagi walked along the lower pier, sighing at everything that had happened up to this point. He placed his hands in his pockets and let out a heavy exhale. Everything was a source of stress for him now. His form as Yagi Toshinori was the only thing keeping him away from that stress, except for the work of a teacher.

He never hated reporters and always made sure to answer any questions, but now that he was a teacher he could understand Shouta's side of things. They interfered with his work, even taking up his time when he tried to enter U.A. as All Might. Yagi had been forced to use his normal self to enter, but still he was bombarded by the press, asking him about All Might and what it was like working with him.

Then there was the girl. Aizawa did share Shihouin's location data with him from time to time, simply to monitor where she goes. They would watch her phone wander around Musutafu with her, going to stores and food stalls around the place.

It still didn't sit right with him, that someone who had to joints in their toe had a quirk. Whether if it's a single versatile quirk, or multiple quirks that harmoniously interacted with each other.

"A- Yagi-san!" He knew that voice. He'd strangle it if he had gotten past the first letter.

He turned around, relieved to see Izuku in one piece. "Young Midoriya!" He shouted, looking over to the boy. Yoruichi was seen slowly striding out to him, looking into the ocean. "Young Shihouin!"

Her attention was now diverted from the sea, facing Toshinori was an inquisitive look. "Young Midoriya? Young Shihouin?"

All Might froze, realizing his mistake. "What seems to be the matter?"

"Nothing," she answered, crossing her arms and placing her body weight on her front foot. "You heard that All Might started working at U.A, right?" Toshinori hesitated to answer, but nodded after a few quiet seconds and hummed in confirmation. "He also talks to the students with the Shounen* and Shoujo* stuff."

"A-ahh, I see."

"I just think it's strange you share that trait. You also share the same hair color, but I could probably find twelve other people with that same hair color."

Yagi nervously swallowed, and he saw Izuku sweating nervously. Shihouin continued to stare in confusion. His anxiousness was giving him away.

"Now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure I've heard Aizawa say you work at U.A. too, but I haven't seen you around."

He did his best to recompose himself with a forced cough, and then addressed the two of them.

"S-so, Shihouin, you wanted to help Izuku with what specifically?" He asked, trying to change the topic despite it being abrupt and sudden.

"He can't fight for shit," she answered. "We were paired against each other in battle exams, and his plan on combat was to rush me. I also want to help reinforce his endurance."

"What about quirks?"

"Right, your here just in case those get involved..."

He just then remembered that was the excuse he gave. Quirk usage. Both Midoriya and Shihouin knew that doing so was illegal. Maybe Shihouin would try to get away with it, but he didn't know the girl well enough to pass judgment. Toshinori would at least admit that with him being a staff member at U.A. as well as being a licensed hero would give him some leeway in that regard. Hopefully he wouldn't have to do that, but hopefully they wouldn't be working on quirk usage in the first place when they shouldn't be.

"Maybe, but that won't be the main focus. I just want to make sure that the next time I'm put against him he'll at least stand a chance. Don't want to make it boring for myself, ya know?" There was a jovial tone in her words that made it sound like he was half joking. The other half showed that this act wasn't entirely selfless.

"S-so what first?" Izuku asked.

"Try and hit me."

The key word All Might had picked up was 'try'. He agreed that all that Izuku could do was to try. If she didn't block his hit, she could very easily evade it with her agility.

Hesitantly, Izuku threw an unpowered punch at the girl, but not very hard. His lack of effort would cost him. When he closed the distance between the two his fist wasn't even six inches from her abdomen when she swiped her arm sideways. It was the same move from the training room. Swiftly and violently, Izuku was flipped on his back and a muffled thud was made from his back hitting the sand.

He heard the boy wheezing as the breath was knocked out of his body. "C'mon! Don't come at me like that."

"Don't you think that was a bit... much?" Toshinori asked.

"Probably, but if he's gonna go easy on me I'll go harder on him."

Eventually Izuku was back on his feet. Shihouin stood in place, waiting for him to move again. Izuku once more moved in, closing the distance with a harder punch aimed to her sternum.

She caught the fist just as it would have come into contact, and a subtle pop was heard in the local area. "You cracked my knuckles for me," she told the boy, a friendly smile on her face.

Yoruichi released his hand from her grip and let the boy back away. She shook her hand and rotated her wrist.

"What next?" Midoriya asked, antsy to continue with his lesson.

Yoruichi hummed in thought. She stood still tapping her foot in place. Thinking, she remembered something about Izuku caught her eye. The boy had a notebook which he wrote the quirks of almost every hero and villain he knew about.

She remembered asking about it. Izuku showed her, Iida and Uraraka almost everything in it. There were drawings of All Might, Endeavor, Best Jeanist, Mount Lady and so many more. He even had pages dedicated to his classmates. The first one he showed them was one of Todoroki and his quirk, and it even had a crudely drawn sketch of the boy in the center of the page.

"Your books..." Yoruichi mentioned. "You have notes on everyone in class, right? What about me?"

"Oh- well- I... no, d-don't have a page for you yet."

"Well let's start here. From everything you've seen so far, how would you go about fighting me?"

It was Izuku's turn to think. How would he fight her? She was fast, strong and had a scary powerful quirk. Could he even try to?

"I... don't think I could fight you," Izuku admitted. "You're too fast to run away from or even approach head on in a fight. And if that wasn't a factor, you're far stronger than I could ever hope to be. The only person in our class I think could actually beat you would be Todoroki-kun. But even then-"

"C'mon," Shihouin replied, interrupting the boy before he could continue. "You can't think of anything?"

She knew she was asking a quite a tall task from the boy. Yagi could see it on her face. While he had no doubt that Izuku would become a force to be reckoned with in the future, it seemed that it would only match what Shihouin had shown thus far. The girl herself would no doubt always be ahead of the boy in regards of power no matter how hard he tried, but there at least had to be a point where they could be matched in strength.

Shihouin knew how strong she was, Izuku knew how strong she was, all of class 1-A knew how strong she was. She knew Izuku could never beat her with what he has now, but All Might could see she was just testing his brain.

Midoriya stood in place, putting on his thinking face while silently muttering to himself.

"I'll give you time," Shihouin said, distracting Izuku from his thoughts. "I'm going out to grab something to eat. I'll get you guys something too. In the meanwhile, you'll be coming up with a plan to defeat me. When I get back you'll be putting it into action – no quirks of course."

"I don't need anything, thank you," All Might had said, politely waving the girl off.

"And I'm not hungry-"

"Midoriya, by the time we're finished you will be hungry. I'm off. See you two in ten!"

The girl knew it was illegal, but she used her quirk anyways, vanishing out of sight and off into... wherever she went. Shihouin was so fast it was scary. If she became a hero, no villain would escape her justice. If she were a villain... Yagi's thoughts drifted again, off where they could only imagine the worst.

...

Izuku and Toshinori had been plotting for at least three minutes now. Both of them had fully taken advantage of the fact she had forbade quirk usage in their soon-to-be spar. But All Might knew that even without her quirk, she was still absurdly strong.

He remembered what Shouta had told him about the young girl, that she can't turn off her quirk but can only control its strength. From the way it she worded it her quirk sounded like a passive mutation quirk, but any mutation quirks had some visual indicator, like Mineta's hair. It led him to the conclusion that it was some sort of emitter quirk that didn't require a conscious activation, which itself was quite odd. It was especially odd that it was something she could also consciously control, which also made him think she forgot how to turn it off, but that's impossible. He'd think more on it later.

Yagi had made sure to relay this information to Midoriya, who would have had thought the rule only applied to him. They could only interpret it as she would severely limit herself in the bout for a semblance of fairness.

The two had cycled through ideas. All of them varied and even the bad ones were put as emergency backup only, such as a straight rush for Shihouin. Granted this would only be if she was exhausted enough.

Izuku was normally good at analyzing other heroes, including his classmates. The issue with Shihouin was that it was hard to analyze someone who moves that fast, so it was much more difficult for Midoriya to get mental data. He was also prohibited from writing about her quirk – or potentially many quirks – in his notebook. That was mainly All Might's doing, just in case Midoriya would have to constantly update the page, as well as his knowledge on the reality of some quirks breaking the idea of what's possible.

The plan they came with sounded almost flawless, taking advantage of Izuku's reach over her and keeping her at a distance with the limitations being placed on quirks. The issue with the plan? They didn't know if Shihouin could counteract it.

She had already displayed flawless mastery over her quirk, meaning the only improvement she could make was the strength and control aspects of it. She had potential to strengthen it, and could learn to better control its strength.

Her ability for combat was a completely different unknown. She seemed to be a capable fighter, and even offered to teach Izuku how to fight. Yoruichi even had that one move where it would flip someone on their backs in a rough fashion. Any moves she performed were typically too fast to record.

In light of this, All Might gave Midoriya the best advice he could despite it being the worst for actual combat... "Just wing it, kid."

The line was longer than she'd have liked it to be. It cut into her time and would probably lead her to be late. At least that's the reason she'd like to blame it on. If it were just the line then she could exit and immediately Shunpō back to the beach.

Something had caught her eye when she left the stall. It was a child with dark brown hair and ruby red eyes. His forehead seemed scrunched up and two little horn nubs grew from his head. He didn't look a day over twelve.

Appearances like that were normal in this world. Very much more normal than the other world. But not when they have a chain growing from their chest that was rapidly disintegrating, and who floated a few inches above the ground.

Normally she'd think it would be a quirk activation, but no adult had scolded him with the standard "that's illegal, you can't use your quirk in public" speech. In fact, no one had seemed to notice the kid.

She immediately rushed to the boy with Shunpō, getting him to an isolated space before the worst could happen. She didn't even think the kid noticed. Yoruichi only hoped that her suspicion was right, and she wouldn't get locked in a psych ward or in jail.

The process had slowed by the time they reached an abandoned city infrastructure on the outskirts of town. Nothing but unfinished projects and abandoned buildings for at least five kilometers.

"Kid," Yoruichi called out to him, grabbing his attention. "You know what that chain on your chest is?"

"W-where am I? Who are you!?"

"Answer the question," Yoruichi dryly requested, hoping she hadn't just accidentally kidnapped a living child.

"T-the chain? It's p-part of my q-quirk. Why?"

"If it's part of your quirk then why was it eating itself just a few moments ago?"

The young boy looked confused, as if he too was unsure of the answer. "I think that's just part of the quirk evolution. It just does that sometimes. I can't control it."

So she didn't just commit a crime... aside from public quirk usage, but that was unimportant right now. It was very unimportant. She cursed at herself again for discarding her Zanpakuto. 'A Konsō would be helpful right now,' she thought to herself.

All's she could do was wait for the kid to turn. She could at least comfort the kid into the reality he had been living in for... "Kid, what's your name?"

"Ki-Kikuchiki Daiki. What's yours?"

"Shihouin Yoruichi," she replied, doing her best to put on a smile. "How long has your chain been there?"

"Oh... I think, maybe a few months. Some people don't notice it. But I did, I saw it immediately."

"Have you seen anyone else with a chain like that? Anyone at all?"

The boy shook his head. "No, Shihouin-san. Why?"

"That chain on your chest..." she took a deep breath, pausing midway before picking back up. "It's called a chain of fate." The boy's eyes perked up in curiosity. "It's only seen on pluses."

"What's a plus?"

"It's a ghost. You... you're dead."

"N-no I'm not! People can still see me and I can still touch the ground!" The boy immediately dropped himself, no longer floating and now standing on the asphalt.

"How many people have seen you in those months since you've gotten that chain?"

"Uhh... three?" He guessed.

Another two links were devoured by the outer ones, shortening the chain and gaining the boy's curiosity. "That chain is doing that because you've been spending too much time in the living. You haven't moved on and typically that requires a Konsō."

The chain shortened again, this time by only one link. It was picking up pace again. "B-but I'm not dead! I told you! Three people have seen me since then!"

"Who?" She asked, letting the boy count off the numbers in his head.

"My mom and my brother, and they both looked really scared. I heard them crying one night."

"And number three?"

"You-" the chain rapidly began to eat itself, consuming everything to the last chain before stopping.

There was one link left. This kid would never see the soul society, but she wouldn't let him see Hueco Mundo either. She could only wait for him to turn Hollow and reintroduce him into the reincarnation cycle.

"You've seen me, right? So your number three."

"That's because I'm a Shinigami, kid." She could see his eyes widen in disbelief. "You don't believe me?"

"Of course not. Shinigami aren't real, they're just parts of the countries past. You know... folklore and stuff."

"If you say so..."

The last chain was consumed.

A bone white liquid began to pour out of the hole where his chain once was. Where his heart once was. The boy began to panic and shriek in fear as he backed away from the girl and towards the edge of the poorly maintained road.

First was the mask. It resembled the face of a baboon with bright red circles around the eyes and a dark purple color covering the mouth. The horns of his quirk began to fuse with the mask, forcing them to grow in size and protrude from the side of the mask then fuse together at the middle.

When the child's mask stopped forming and his body began to take shape. It wasn't any bigger than she was really. His arms grew in size, gaining muscle mass only an Olympian could gain, and shrouding in a dark color. His torso had shrunken and his legs began to grow in size equivalent to his arms, even bulkier than the other two limbs.

In the direct center of his chest, was a massive hole the size of her head. She could see directly through it showing the torn up poster of a hero smiling a wide, toothy grin. Not All Might, but someone else, and the words 'It will be okay' written in a large bold font.

His screams of fear turned into howls and loud shrieks that cut across the afternoon sky. Her first Hollow in this world. From a kid who didn't even know he was dead.

Izuku and All Might waited for five minutes past her setup time. They did make sure to take advantage of the extra time allotted to them, but were curious of how someone with her speed would be so late.

When she had finally shown up she had a strange look on her face. It was vacant and bogged down, almost as if she was disappointed with something. But she did bring back the food she said she would.

"Sorry for being a bit late. The line was really long."

"Did something happen, Shihouin?" Yagi reached out, offering a concerned look.

"Nah, just spent too long in line. Got me a bit annoyed." She placed the bag down beside Toshinori and turned to Izuku. "Alright, let's do this."

"A-are you sure you're alright, Shihouin?"

"Dude, come one. Let's not have this entire session go to waste."

"O-okay," Izuku replied while stepping forward to Shihouin.

They let Yagi be the one to set the count down, and Izuku immediately shot to her side when Yagi counted to one in an attempt to flank her. She didn't even attempt a counterattack and sidestepped out of the way to let Midoriya fly right by her.

The next move was is what most would consider dirty, but she'd have to admit it was also clever. When Izuku landed he had grabbed a handful of sand and threw in her face. He made a rush to grab the Shinigami, but was thrown a few dozen feet away instead.

Through all of this Shihouin maintained a dry face. Her expression unchanging, eyes locked on the boy as he threw punch and kick in a sloppy order. But the order wasn't without purpose. He made various kicks aimed at her legs and several punches and strikes at her center chest. While each one was easily deflected it also helped Shihouin analyze Midoriya this time around.

Izuku was aiming for not only what protects the vital organs, but also what he saw as the source of her quirk. This much broke Shihouin out of her state and made her smile a bit. The strikes to her chest she swiped away were weak, likely to simulate a real situation in capture and not elimination.

Midoriya paused to take a quick breath, the. did his best to mimic a boxers stance when done. The gap was already closed. He had thrown a single punch and his wrist was grabbed by Shihouin. She had turned into him and rotated his wrist with it, forcing a loud yelp from the boy's mouth.

Shihouin's body was sideways to Izuku's chest. She let go of his wrist and with that same arm she sent her elbow into his sternum. Izuku fell backwards onto the sand from the force of the strike. Yoruichi had taken advantage of the opening she had made and made a move for his neck. If Izuku wasn't stunned from her hit he would have moved out of the way.

She had Izuku pinned to the ground by the throat, her knee pressed down on his chest and her other hand in pinning down one of his arms.

"Your movements are still clunky and there's no fluidity in your style. However, you did come with an interesting plan to take out the usage of my quirk, if I was allowed to use it. Also, nice touch with the sand."

Shihouin got off him and the two stood up. Izuku brushed the sand off his clothes and Shihouin stretched and twisted her body.

Yagi didn't really learn wether or not she could fight, but found out she could be a challenging combatant. Her move at the end did imply she knew how to disable an opponent which did correlate to combative skill. Perhaps she had some familiarity with formal combat, but not much beyond that. Wether it was learned before school or muscle memory from her past.

In spite of whether or not she could fight, both Yagi and Midoriya knew the outcome of their spar. They never said it to one another just in case a surprise happened.

Toshinori looked over to the boy who was being handed a takeout box that contained the smell of fish and vegetables.

"I forgot to ask what you wanted, so I just grabbed something random."

"That's fine." Izuku opened the box, revealing a grilled fish topped with grilled onions and carrots on the side. He really didn't seem to mind as he didn't pick around any of the food.

Shihouin got herself a plain burger, only supplied with ketchup and mustard.

"So Midoriya," she said, "when I got in your house most of your pictures were with your mom..."

"Y-yeah. My dad's been overseas on business for awhile."

"How long?" Shihouin asked.

"Since I was about four," he replied after taking a bite of his food. "Like I said, he's been over seas. In America I think."

"You ever talk to him?"

"Yeah," he nodded. "The last time I talked to him was when I got the acceptance letter to U.A. We talked for about a half-hour before I ended the call."

"Must've been nice to still be able to talk to him even though he isn't actually there," she commented, a small smile coming across her face.

Izuku hummed in agreement. Even though he was so far away he still enjoyed the fact he could still talk to him. While he did wish he could celebrate it with him in person, he'd settle for a phone call if it couldn't be helped. It was better than what most people had. That one thought made him face Shihouin, who had no parents.

"What?" She asked, mouth still full of food in the middle of chewing.

"N-nothing! No, no nothing! I-it's- I'm sorry if I upset you- or..."

"What are you talking about? Upset me how?" She swallowed her food after she finished speaking, and leaned back with her hands to support her weight.

"I-it's just that I was talking about my father when-"

"Calm down, I asked anyway."

"Y-your not upset? Not to say your mad or anything, but you aren't sad?"

Shihouin huffed and looked out at the ocean. "Nah, I don't give a shit about that. I'm here now and that's all that matters."

"That's a bit disconcerting to hear," Yagi chimed in. "You aren't at all curious or even scared that you don't know your past life?"

"It's a bit annoying that I can't go back, I'll admit. But worrying about it won't help. Not like I can do much about it."

"'Can't go back'?" Yagi parroted. "What do you mean by that?"

Yoruichi panicked slightly, trying to think of some way to explain her words as a metaphor. "Like... can't go back to wherever I came from. Sort of... why I can't remember jack all. I guess it's some kinda metaphor."

"I think I understand," Izuku said. "'Go back' as in go back to a life you can't remember."

"Yeah, that."

It was a shitty save, but a save nonetheless. Even if she didn't explain they'd still be confused, but she knew what she meant.

"Can I ask a question, Midoriya?" Shihouin asked, trying to change the subject.

"Sure."

"What's the deal with you and Bakugo-kun? He's always so angry and it kinda looks like he has some kind of grudge against you."

"O-oh. We're childhood friends-"

"He talks to you like that and you call him a friend?" Yoruichi questioned, leaning over and into Izuku. "I'd have knocked his teeth out a long time ago."

"I know it's strange," he admitted. "But we grew up together. Before we got our quirks we always got along, but then... he got his... and he changed. He became arrogant and cocky, and he had every right to be with a quirk like his. It is awesome. I wanted my quirk to manifest but it never did."

"So he'd bully you for being quirkless?" Shihouin assumed, voice raised in curiosity.

"I think that's why. Up until he got his quirk we got along fine."

"So what happened when your quirk finally... I guess came would be a good term? Manifested?"

"You saw. At the quirk apprehension test, remember?"

"Oh! That," she exclaimed, remembering the unchecked anger in the boy.

"I was hoping to go go against him in the combat simulation tests to show him I'm not scared anymore. But I got you instead."

"If you didn't get me we wouldn't be here."

Izuku nervously laughed at the response. It was true that him being put against Shihouin was the sole reason this happened. It was hard for him to imagine what would have happened had he gone against Katsuki. Would he have won with Katsuki's quirk and his knowledge on how to properly use it to all possible advantages? When his quirk was still barely a quarter developed and his limbs breaking on usage.

That also made him wonder, what if Shihouin had been put against Kacchan, or even paired with him. From what he could see Shihouin and Katsuki were already at each other's throats. It could end poorly if Shihouin pushes him a bit further and Kacchan hits a sensitive spot on Shihouin's lack of a past.

Having them in the same class made it a rather volatile environment that only Izuku could see. He knew Bakugo better than the rest of the class. He knew how large his ego was, and knows what would happen if something dared to pop it. It hasn't happened yet, but Midoriya felt as if Shihouin was that long, sharp needle.

"So you going to want to do this again, or no?"

The question broke Midoriya out of thought. "Sure," he replied, standing back up with Shihouin to fail again.

It was an exhausting afternoon. Izuku had just gotten out of the shower and dried off, then slipping into sleepwear.

Time and time again, sparring with Shihouin only further cemented in the idea that he would never be able to beat her. He did manage to get in a hit two, but had she not been holding back he may as well have been striking at the air.

Eventually in the day, her analysis of his body had come into play. She could determine that his build was meant for durability to handle his own quirk, so she played into it. She struck him a few times, each one getting harder and harder as time went on, likeky to see if his durability came into defending his insides from outward attacks. This was during sparring, and it hurt like hell.

Then their were quirks in play. As people grow so too do their quirks. In time his quirk will become stronger, and so will Shihouin's. If the ability she displayed at the quirk apprehension test is a message at all, she could only get stronger, faster and better at handling her quirk.

She was someone to idolize for Izuku. Perhaps even as much as All Might. Strong, versatile and capable. She'd become number one some day. Even though Midoriya hoped to claim that title, he felt as if he didn't deserve it as much as she did. She had the quirk to be recognized as one of the best. Perhaps even the best. He can't throw a punch without breaking his arm.

When sparring was done, she had him run up and down the beach while carrying her on his back. If he ever slowed down, even if it was slightly, she would dig her sharp nails into his shoulders. When he finished one loop she would replace herself with a semi-truck tire that be tied around his waist. After the tire was a 70lb weight, which then moved up to 100.

It was an exhausting afternoon for sure, and he knew his entire body would be sore from the workout.

The smell of cooking rice made its way to his nose, along with the smell of baked onions and poultry. At first he had thought that Yoruichi's meal offer would be his dinner, but he exhausted it within the next hour of training. Dinner was a welcome gift.

"Izuku, dinner!"

He strode to his bedroom door at the sound of his mother's voice. "Coming!" He shouted back.

He closed his bedroom door behind him as he walked to the dining set. Izuku was hungry again, and had to stop himself from running and tripping over his own feet.

Today was a long day for the Shinigami. Having to show up to school and deal with the press that had gotten wind that All Might became a teacher was irritating enough. She had no doubt they would be there tomorrow and maybe even the day after. The mob of reporters could only get bigger by the day.

After that was mainly classes, the first one being English which she was one of the bottom few in the class. The only kid who had it the easiest was Yaoyorozu. Really, the girl came in first in everything far ahead of the rest of the class. The only thing Shihouin could keep up in was history given her constant time in the library focusing on the history of this world. Momo was still number one though.

Hero basic training was where Shihouin truly shined. Her assignment was to get into groups of three and discuss the best way to deal with a hostage situation, as well as how their quirks would come into play. She remembered partnering with Mina and Sero.

The scenario they came up with was Mina using her quirk to melt through the walls and Shihouin using her speed to rescue the hostages. Meanwhile, Hanta would use his quirk to subdue the villains by restraining them with his tape.

That much she got by with little struggle. After school is where it got annoying. Izuku had set up the time and location, and Shihouin obliged. She wasn't expecting the plus of a child to hollowfy and having to dispatch him.

It unsettled her, the way she had to watch it happen to a child. His screams sounded mixed with pain and fear. She couldn't do anything to prevent it but wait for him to turn right in front of her.

At least she got information out of the ordeal. From what she saw, the child's mask had appeared to fuse with his quirk. If she ever got the chance, she should see if that was a pattern of hollowfications in this world. It might also give her the answer of where quirks came from.

Currently she sat at her bedroom desk, scrolling through online obituaries looking for his name.

"Kikuchiki Daiki," she muttered aloud as she scrolled further down through the first page.

She found many Daiki's that didn't have the boy's last name, and some Kikuchiki's without his first name. When looking at those who shared his surname, she couldn't find any articles linking them to the plus. Until she found one, buried under mountains of results and several pages back.

She began to read the result aloud. "This obituary is dedicated to Hideaki and Daiki Kikuchi, father and son who's lives were lost on January 12th, following a villain attack near the Musutafu ward of Japan." It wasn't enough information, so she kept on reading. "The hero Endeavor was in the midst of a fight with a dangerous villain, and these were one of the few civilians who passed in the crossfire." She stopped, feeling as if she read enough. While there was more to read, she'd come back to it later.

Yoruichi then opened a new tab and began another search. 'January 12 villain attack, Endeavor'. Only three articles popped up, each from unknown or individual sources.

The first one she clicked on didn't load. She clicked again, and still nothing happened. Yoruichi refreshed the page, an odd look coming across her face as three turned into two.

Clicking on the topmost article, several pictures of the event flooded her screen. Even before looking into it she had heard about the event. She lived in Musutafu after all. When the news covered the event they were oddly vague about the details, while others mainly mourned the losses of the civilians who passed that were stuck in the middle.

The casualty report was at least 15 dead. She started scrolling down, beginning to read the article and raising a brow at the first few words.

'The hero Endeavor accidentally claimed four lives in this month's villain attack. When backing the villain against a building, he had used his quirk against the villain who dodged it, leading for his flame blades to destroy the building's supports. Unfortunately, four people had died in the process. Endeavor may not have known people were in the buildings, but it is a heroe's job to not only protect life but also-' a message popped up on the screen. 'This page has been taken down by the owner'.

"-property," Shihouin finished.

She knew what was going on. To her, it appeared that the flame hero was going after articles speaking negatively about him. Seeing how many articles she found, not many were giving praise.

The man not only had the money to do this, but also the power. He must have hired good lawyers.

'Shouto's his kid, right?' She thought to herself as she leaned back into her chair. 'I wonder if he knows anything about this? I wonder if he'd even talk to me?' The thought made her laugh.

She had decided to turn in for the night, closing her laptop and hopping in bed. Next to her bed was the light switch. Turning off the lights, she closed her eyes with a sour taste in her mouth after having read that.

Yoruichi was unsure if she would get much sleep tonight. Hollows also making an appearance in this world didn't help much either.

AN:

So when I said "Shounen" and "Shoujo" in Yoruichi's dialogue, that's because in the JP Dub, that's how he addresses the students. "Midoriya-shounen", "Bakugo-shounen", "Uraraka-shoujō", "Yaoyorozu-shoujō".

This is because Shounen means Young Boy and Shoujō, means young girl. As to why I didn't implement this in the beginning of the story, I forgot and for the sake of consistency I'll continue to have All Might address them as he did in the English dub.

• for the non-American audience 70lbs is 31.75kg and 100lbs is 35.3kg.

-Extra Note- I'm still figuring out how quirks are gonna work in this fic. As you can see with the Hollowfication scene I have an idea with what I want to do with them, but as for a solid idea it's still floating around in my head.

Spellweaverdrive: I've never been too good with descriptions to be honest. If you ever want to give me pointers feel free to PM me! I'm always open to advice.

Guest: Sorry to see you disappointed. I wanted to have her offer him help there because I was kinda rushing to move the plot along and... yeah. I'll admit you are right that it was OOC and I should've waited for something like the USJ incident to happen.

As for your ideas, number one was already something I had in mind but wanted to put in a later chapter. The second one is fucking brilliant and I need to do that at some point. I'm just trying to picture the looks on their faces when they bring the cat home and it starts speaking.

Guest W: Canonically she is a few centuries old. But physically/relatively to the other student's ages she is about 15-16 years old. She's also close to 4'8" as an adult, her height was 5'1" in the Bleach Data Book. So I had to do my best guess to regress her height to a point that would be about as tall she would have been when she was the equivalent of 15 in human(Shinigami?) age. Sorry for the word salad, idk what I'm saying.
