Chapter 5

R reyes- If you think that of Bask Om, you're probably not going to like Revenant. Or rather a lot of the darker Legends.

Military section of Green Noa I

Night

"Damn Spacenoids. Think they can complain and whine about the Earth Federation being too harsh after all the shit that Zeon did during and after the One Year War." Said a Titans officer as he drank his cup of water while his cohort drank a can of beer. The two were responsible for keeping track of all registered people in the Earth Federation. A boring task that required minimal effort in the opinion of the two officers, but they weren't complaining. They get money and get it with minimal effort.

"You got that right. Damn wish we could just do more against them, but the assembly is being too chickenshit to do more against the Spacenoids." As the two were conversing about current politics and whatnot a shadowy figure snuck up on them and knocked them both out with darts filled with a green substance of unknown make. Whatever it was, it knocked them out, allowing the figure to access their terminal with no impediment. Inputting a flash drive on the terminal, the figure began to use the terminal for something. As they did so, the figure was clear to see.

They were obviously female with how lithe and small they were. They wore a pilot suit that wasn't built like typical pilot suits. For example, this one's visor was polarized, preventing anyone from seeing their face. The pilot suit also looked like it can endure some punishment unlike those that pilot Mobile Suits. It was also colored entirely black except for the visor, which encompassed the entire head and was colored dark brown.

Whatever she was doing, she was finished. Looking at her work, one could see that she registered four different people within the Earth Federation system, making them official citizens of the Earth Federation, complete with various accomplishments and whatnot.

With that done, she walked away from the terminal and began to talk to someone.

"It's done. Everything is set up. Hope you know what you're doing, Horizon." Said the woman before disappearing in a flash of blue and white particles.

Meanwhile

Horizon

Hotel

"Good news, friends." Said Horizon with a smile as she looked at her fellow Legends, including Pathfinder and Revenant. They were all present in one of the hotel rooms they rented out. It was a bit difficult to get them to the hotel undetected, but under the cover of night, or at least the colony's night cycle, they managed to get them through the hotel room's window without anyone seeing them. At the moment, they were talking about the plan that Horizon had cooked up to get them more money. "Wraith finally managed to get us all registered in the Colonies database. So, if any of those Anaheim people check for our profiles in the colonies database, we'll be fine and won't be arrested for being unregistered people. Then again, they'll probably hire us anyway because of Pathfinder, but it's better to be safe than sorry."

"Yeah, not like they can arrest us for a bunch of stupider reasons. Like disturbing the peace or just wasting their time." Said Revenant sarcastically. "Or, oh you're going to love this, just because they don't like our faces. Tch, skinsuits. Especially government or corporate skinsuits. They always like to flaunt their fake power in any way they can." Although Horizon glared at Revenant for what he said, Horizon turned to Pathfinder and spoke.

"You good to go on what we're going to do tomorrow, Pathy?" Asked Horizon as she looked at the robot, who just gave a thumbs up while making a happy face on his chest screen.

"Yes, I do, third best girlfriend. I won't let us down." Said Pathfinder. "The people will love me and then love all of you! I promise!"

"Yeah, that's great Path." Said Mirage with a smile. "Just so you know, Professor Somers, I don't want to be famous because of just my smart brain. I want to also be known for my flashing good looks. My stellar personality and my ability to make a good drink." Giggling a bit at Mirage's antics, Horizon spoke up.

"And you'll get your chance, dearie." Said Horizon with a smile. "Once this is over and I get a job with that Anaheim Electronics company, you'll be able to pursue whatever careers we want. So long as it's within reason, of course."

"Forgive my question, Professor Somers, but how have you come across this Anaheim Electronics?" Asked Bloodhound as they looked at Horizon. "This organization is something I've not heard of before. Has our comrade Mathias told you about them?"

"Indeed, he did, dearie." Said Horizon with a smile. "He figured out that I got a knack for technology and science so he said that I could get a job with Anaheim Electronics if I wanted to. They got a small branch here in the colony and they're always looking for talented people to hire. Gave me the address for their building and everything." Upon hearing that, Bloodhound nodded and stayed silent for the rest of the conversation. But Revenant, unfortunately, wasn't going to stay silent.

"So, what about the rest of us?" Asked Revenant as he got up from his crouching position in one of the corners of their hotel room. "Case you forgot, not all of us are super geniuses when it comes to science stuff. And I don't think you want a murder bot around anyone important to your plan, right? So, what do you got for the rest of us?" Frowning at Revenant, Horizon spoke up.

"Well, dearie, in case you want to know, I got plans for the rest of you." Said Horizon before explaining. "I need Bloodhound, Mirage, and Wraith to act as bodyguards in case anyone tries to hurt Pathy before we reveal him to Anaheim Electronics. As for you, you'll be in hiding and keeping an eye on us from afar. You know, just as a precaution." Upon hearing that, Revenant chuckled at the reason.

"Yeah sure. That's the only reason." Said Revenant as he looked at Horizon. "We both know you don't want me around those people. Hurt your chances of getting a job with that company. Well, why don't I disrupt your chances of getting that job? Go on my own and start wreaking havoc. I think those Titans will really like someone like me in their ranks." Upon hearing that, Horizon narrowed her eyes at Revenant, her temper at the boiling point.

"Do that and I'll make you regret ever being born, you murderous bot." Said Horizon as she walked over to Revenant. Despite the fact that Revenant was taller than her by a few inches and he likely wouldn't even care about it, Horizon still put up an effort to glare at him. "If you want to try your chances with those band of bollocks, then by all means. Go for it. Just so you know, they won't hire ye. They'll more likely disassemble you and see what makes you tick. Especially when they find out how your totems and grenades work. So, by all means, save us all the trouble and send yourself to your death. It'll save us from future headaches. Dearie." Rather than get offended or even mad, Revenant just chuckled.

"A for effort, doc." Said Revenant, mockingly patting Horizon while everyone else looked at the two, either getting ready to help Horizon or curious about what was going on in front of them. "But you don't scare me. Know why? Because you're nothing but an old bat that can't even deal with an old problem no matter how hard she tried. How many times have you tried to deal with Ash for what she did and failed to do anything to her? Like at all? *Chuckles* More times than I can't be bothered to count them all. Why the hell should I be scared of you when you can't even get under the skin of your most hated enemy? After all, Loba may look like she doesn't care about me anymore, but I know for a fact that she still hates me. Enough that she still refrains from giving me my source code so I can finally die for good. So, don't bother trying to intimidate me doc because you just ain't got it in you." Chuckling more, Revenant went back to his corner, leaving an infuriated Horizon glaring at him while everyone else was either looking at Horizon in concern or glaring at Revenant.

A few minutes passed before Mirage spoke with a nervous smile.

"So, uh, what's my role in all this?" Asked Mirage as he looked at Horizon, who was still glaring at Revenant.

The next day

Front of Anaheim Electronics building

"This is it, dearies." Said Horizon as she readied herself for her plan. To her joy, a sizable group of people was around the Anaheim Electronics building, some of whom were wearing the logo of the company, at least what she thinks the company logo was because it was the same logo in front of the Anaheim Electronic's building, which literally has the name of the company above the entranceway, on their attire. Just what she wanted. "We just need to do well here and we're good."

"Yeah, no pressure." Said Mirage with a nervous smile as the group of Legends, minus Revenant, were walking towards the Anaheim Electronics building. Just as Horizon predicted, when people spotted them they looked at the group of Legends, particularly Pathfinder as he was a fully functional, human-sized robot and he seemed to be walking fine on his own. Waving at the group of people that were looking at him while giving a smiley face, Pathfinder was attracting a lot of attention that Horizon really needed. Everything was going as planned.

Just as she thought, robotics must not be advanced in this universe back in her home one as everyone was attracted to Pathfinder. And judging by the whispers that she heard, they were all intrigued with him and wanted to see how he worked. She just hoped that the people behind this branch of Anaheim Electronics were just as eager to see how Pathfinder worked as these people. Because if they weren't, then she was truly stumped.

In the meantime, Revenant was watching the Legends enter the Anaheim Electronics building. Sitting on top of a tall building that gave him a pretty good vantage point on the entire building and its surroundings, Revenant had a good view of everything. Sporting a Kraber Sniper Rifle, Revenant was ready to provide support to the Legends if they need it. Or kill them if he felt like it. The Kraber was a powerful sniper rifle, a .50 caliber one. Combined with the long barrel, it can kill any human that was out in the open, regardless of where hit. If Revenant wanted, he could kill the other Legends if he liked. Heck, maybe he won't kill them. He'll kill those Anaheim Electronic skinsuits instead. Make people think they were responsible for the deaths of those corporate skinsuits. Get them all wanted by these Titans and whatever government was running the show here.

He truly didn't care for the other Legends. He saw them as any other skinsuits. Things to kill, some more slowly than others. Even Pathy was someone he wanted to kill with how cheerful he was. Heck, in the Apex Games, he made it clear to whatever teammates he was forced to be with that he didn't care about any of them and that they were only useful as bullet sponges to him at best. Hence why he revives them if they prove useful enough to him.

If anything, he was the only one that seemed to like where they were and wanted to stay. Stuck in this universe, Revenant realized, from the moment that he knew he was in a new universe, that he was free from the clutches of the Syndicate. That meant he was free to do whatever the hell he wanted. He could kill whoever he wanted without anyone trying to stop him. He could take his time with his kills if he wanted. He could kill just for the sake of killing. He was truly free. So why was he not leaving, or worse, sabotaging his fellow Legends attempts to get jobs in this universe? Well, the answer was simple. Loba, otherwise known as Loba Andrade.

Bitch was the daughter of a former hit years ago. Was there when he killed her mother and father when she was just a child. He remembered the hit, of course, it was all in his memory banks, but he cared little of the kid. Just like everyone else he killed getting to her father. They were all just insects. If he knew then that she would be his bane, he would have killed her too.

She joined the Apex Games a bit after he did and since then, they've been enemies. Well, sort of at first. Revenant just enjoyed taunting her over the death of her parents, even more so when they're in the same squad, while Loba was all angry and angsty to him. That changed when he learned she knew where his source code was.

Though a Simulacrum was, essentially, the mind of a former human stuffed in a robot body, they needed a source code of that former human's personality and traits in order to make the Simulacrum version of that person in the first place. Otherwise, they're just machines. Without a source code, no one can make another version of a Simulacrum if the last model from that source code is destroyed. He heard that people have tried to make Simulacrums out of copies of their source code, but something happens that just makes them turn out not right in the head. Something about it not being the original or some skinsuit excuse like that. Anyway, Revenant stopped his antagonist approach with Loba because of this fact as, despite what many people think, he actually hated his life.

He had been nothing but an assassin for over three hundred years, killing anyone that got in the way of the Syndicate or anyone that the Syndicate wanted gone. He used to be a human hitman, but he eventually got involved with the Simulacrum Project during its infancy. He couldn't remember if he volunteered for it or not, that memory was hazy to him, but what came after made Revenant hate his life and wish for true death.

The Syndicate and Hammond Robotics, a massive mega-corporation based on Earth and the inner colonies, used him as their personal killing machine, used to do their dirty work free of charge. And every time he got destroyed, they just make a new Revenant, blocking the memories of the destroyed Revenant so that the new one doesn't realize what was going on. They even blocked his human memories as well and programmed him to think that he was still human. It worked well for hundreds of years until eventually the programming failed and Revenant realized everything that happen to him. All the deaths he endured. All the pain. All the lies. All the years as a slave to the Syndicate and Hammond Robotics. It caused him to lose it.

Eventually, he broke free of their services and killed everyone involved in making him a Simulacrum as well as trying to figure out how to give kill himself permanently. Unfortunately, the Syndicate or Hammond Robotics had his source code and with that still in their clutches, he can never truly die. His consciousness will just be uploaded into a new body, good as new. Forcing him to live forever, something that he truly despised. What's worse, killing no longer had the thrill it provided him. It was just a chore or respite to him now. There was no excitement about killing. No burst of adrenaline. No satisfaction in a job well done. It was just a chore now to him or a way to deal with the pain he was enduring because of the fact that he can never die and he hated it. Maybe he once felt more from killing before, but now he doesn't. He just wants out and Loba denied it to him.

Loba, ironically, wanted the same thing he did. She wanted him to die permanently for what he did to her parents. When she found out that he wanted to die, however, she was conflicted, unsure of what to do as death was something that Revenant wanted. However, eventually, she figured out that Revenant if wanted to die then she'll receive the justice and satisfaction she wanted by seeing that Revenant suffers for all eternity, living forever as a slave to Hammond Robotics and the Syndicate, who eventually managed to regain control of him and make him serve as a Legend in the Apex Games. So, when she found his source code, she sent it through a phase portal in Olympus to god knows where and taunted him over it.

This enraged the Simulacrum and made him swear revenge on Loba. Not only will he make her suffer for what she did to him, but he'll make her loved ones suffer as well. He'll make the deaths of her friends and family slow and painful. He'll even force her to watch as he kills her friends and those she was close to. He'll make her beg for death for what she did. Make her pay for getting rid of the first true shot he had of him finally dying and resting in peace.

Unfortunately, she was friends with a few Legends, and that complicated matters as he couldn't kill Legends permanently, both literally and because of the Syndicate. She had taunted him over this, of course, though she didn't do it much because she did have a few friends that didn't have such protection and they were free game to Revenant. Though she did taunt him freely when his recent plan to make Bangalore, who Loba loved apparently, leave went up in smokes and she backed out at the last minute, putting him back to square one.

So, needless to say, Revenant had a very good reason to go back to his old Universe. To make Loba pay for what she did to him. Even if he technically hurt her first.

Revenant looked through the scope of his sniper rifle and wondered how the meeting was going to go between the other Legends and these corporate skinsuits.

"Better go bad and people get hostile. I'm itching to kill again." Thought Revenant as he thought of the only thing that can give him respite now. Killing.
