AUTHORS NOTE: My timeline is different than the series, but the people and characters are the same. Jane met Cameron before she got together with Maura. And they've been married for nearly 9 years. So in my world Jane hasn't seen him for about ten years.
It's been three months since they relocated to Virginia, and although the initial goodbyes and farewells were tearful and sad. They've settled into their new home and jobs really easily. Jane is now fully mobile and able to do everything she used to do before the attack. Which means she is now more hands on with their daughter Amelia.
This has meant that these last few months have felt like they were a proper family. The nervousness and uncertainty that her wife has felt has gone. To look at her you would have never known that it had existed in the first place.
Finally it felt like everything they have both been through, the things that they have individually fought was leading up-to this moment of having a perfect family.
If only they knew that an unspeakable evil from their past was going to resurface and turn both their worlds upside down once more.
But for now, their life is perfect.
Jane and Maura both had some holidays still owing to them from BPD before they left. So they were able to afford a nanny for Amelia. At first Jane was against the idea, but for Maura it was perfectly normal. She herself had, had a nanny up-to the age of 8 years old before she went off to boarding school.
But the more they talked about it the more it made sense, they were in a new state, new jobs and no-one they knew locally who they could ask to look after Amelia when both of them were working.
It wasn't going to be a permanent solution but if Jane was honest at the moment it was really handy having the nanny around. Plus Jane's idea of a nanny was a stern 60 year old woman who wouldn't know the meaning of the word fun. So she was pleasantly surprised when Amanda had come interviewing for the position.
She was smart, beautiful and incredibly down to earth, and she exudes this air of calmness and tranquillity about herself. Just being in her presence puts you instantly at ease. When she had left Jane instantly felt she was the nanny for Amelia and luckily Maura had agreed with her.
As per usual Jane can hear Amanda downstairs in the kitchen. Making her way downstairs she can see Maura sat at the breakfast table feeding Amelia whilst Amanda is making coffee. Walking over to her wife and placing a soft kiss on the blondes forehead "Morning" she says then place's a kiss on Amelia's tiny head. 'Morning my Angel' Jane says almost in a whisper just for Amelia to hear.
Pulling one of the chairs out from underneath the kitchen table, Jane takes a seat. Amanda pours coffee into the empty mug in front of her. "Thanks" she says to the younger woman with a warm smile. She returns the smile and then heads back over to the stove. "Amanda" Jane says "You know you don't have to do this every morning?" before taking a sip of her coffee. And as per usual it tastes amazing.
"I know" she says "But I like doing this for you both" placing one of the pancakes she has been cooking on an empty plate in front of Jane. "You've both made me feel so welcome and one of the family, it's the least I can do".
Before Jane had completely felt happy with hiring a nanny she had run a full check on Amanda. Maura had told Jane she was just being paranoid and over cautious. But when she had reminded her of everything that had happened between them since they met. She understood where Jane was coming from.
Jane couldn't explain why, but it felt like they had known Amanda forever, and although she has only been in there life for a few months, Jane genuinely cares for the younger woman. "Thank you Amanda, me and Maura appreciate everything you do for us, and for Amelia" she says giving her a warm smile.
"I know you do" Amanda says returning the smile to Jane. Going back to the kitchen, she starts to clean up the little bit of mess she has made when making breakfast.
Jane knew she shouldn't have but she did a background check on her using the FBI'S database. The poor girl has had a rough start in life. Her mother was a drug addict, which resulted in complications at birth. Amanda was born with many different health issues. Later on the mother died of a drugs overdose. There was no father listed. So she went in to the foster system. But by all accounts she has come through the system relatively unscathed. Finished school, then went onto to further study whilst working part time until she became there nanny.
Amanda is a very smart girl, before they decided to hire her, she had called Jane out on doing the background check. Jane didn't know what to say and felt embarrassed. But Amanda had just given her a warm smile and as they say the rest is history.
Jane has settled in quite quickly at Quantico, she thought she would miss being 'out on the beat' but she found she was really enjoying teaching the new cadets.
She was no fool though, she has heard the whispers and murmurings in some of her classes, assuming that by now all her students knew whom she was. So for today's class, she decided that today's the day to talk about her own personal bogeyman, Charles Hoyt.
Watching the students arrive and quickly taking their seats, Jane doesn't say anything she just stands there and observes. Until the room falls into an eerie silence. Making eye contact with some of the students she can feel there unease as they wonder what is happening.
With an air of confidence in her stance Jane stands in front of her class and addresses them all. "I know there are questions that you want to ask me,'' she says. "I know, you've all been gossiping amongst yourselves ...about me". The many faces in front of her suddenly looking embarrassed and ashamed of themselves. "I don't blame you ...I would have done exactly the same, except being from Boston I would have just asked out right" she says with a slight smirk. Seeing her students start to relax she continues. "So. Who would like to start?" she asks glancing around the room until she spots a raised hand. "Erm...Pierce? Right?" Jane says trying to make sure she's got the students name right.
"Yes Mam that's correct" Pierce says with nervousness in her voice.
Jane detects the tremble in the cadets voice. "It's ok, what would you like to ask?" she says.
Clearing the phlegm from her throat, "How many times did you face Charles Hoyt?" Pierce asks.
"Charles Hoyt had once said to me that like any good boxer you need a worthy opponent, unfortunately he saw me as that opponent. And because of that obsession he attacked me 4 times. My last encounter with him he told me wanted company as he was dying. He wanted to take me with him so I rammed a scalpal into his cold heart" Jane says with a sharpness in her voice as she remembers that awful day. Mentally shaking the images away, she takes a second to compose herself before continues. "Next! Swanson you're question".
"Is that how you got your scars on your hands and face?" Swanson asks nervously.
Glancing down to her hands and then looking at Swanson directly, "The first time I caught Hoyt he pinned me to the floor by putting scalpels through my hands" she says by holding them up and showing the room. Taking a deep breath she continues "My face however...that was done by a homophobic bigot who didn't like the fact that I broke his nose" she says not wanting to discuss it anymore. Moving on quickly "Micheal's you're question?" she asks.
"Were you the youngest person ever to be promoted to homicide detective in Boston Police Department history?" she asks
"Not only was I" she says gleefully remembering how proud she felt. "But also the first youngest female officer too" Jane says with a wink.
This results in cheers and claps from her students. Waving her hands in the air to signal for them to quieten down. "Alright, alright" she says "question times over, we need to get back to some actual teaching" she says whilst laughing. Walking to the side of the room Jane presses a button on the remote which brings down a screen. "Right Class… because of my background and after all this is the FBI, I'm gonna introduce you to possibly America's worst serial killer". Pressing the remote again a picture appears on the screen. "Charles Hoyt" she says.
The images keep changing behind her as she continues to talk about him. "He was nicknamed the Surgeon due to how clean the cuts were made to the victims". Remembering his first victims. "It wasn't until later we learnt that he had former medical training, but he referred to himself as Doctor Hoyt". As much as Jane would have loved to have never met Hoyt. At least now she can use her knowledge and experience to help the future generation to try and detect these killers before they mass kill. "He failed medical school because he was caught fondling a corpse" she says.
"Just remember when you're out in the field, the most important tool that you have is not your body armour, not your shield and not even your weapon. All these things will help you and keep you safe, but you should always listen to your gut" she says "It's usually right, and mine is saying it's time for lunch" letting out a raspy laugh with the rest of the class. Turning to face the desk she starts to put her files away into her side bag. When she recognises a familiar voice calling her.
"I knew you couldn't resist this place forever" the male voice says.
Turning around in front of her is an incredibly handsome man that she recognises "Cameron, what are you doing here?" Jane says with a huge smile.
Even though he can tell she's wearing make-up he can see the scar on her face. He's curious as to how she got it. But she still looks amazing to him. "I heard a rumour that they had hired a former homicide detective called Rizzoli" looking around the room he says with a massive grin. "So where's your brother then?" letting out a laugh. "Seriously, the FBI are lucky to have you".
"Thanks" Jane says kinda feeling a little awkward as the last time they were together, she had slept with him.
Cameron took the awkwardness as Jane being Jane. "You got time for a coffee?" he asks.
"Erm, yeah sure" Jane says whilst checking her watch, "I've got a little time before my next appointment" she says with a smile.
They both make there way over to the coffee shop that sits on the grounds of Quantico. They start talking about what has happened over the past 10 years since they last saw each other.
"So, you married and got any mini Cameron's running around?" Jane asks.
Taking a sip of his coffee he answers "Not really, you know what it's like with this job, unless there in the agency they don't understand' he says sounding a little sad.
"Yeah I do get it" she says back with a smile. That was one of the main reasons why it never worked out with Casey. Someone would have had to give up the job they loved. Because the worry and fear was there that someone was going to get hurt or killed. And neither one of them was really prepared in doing that, as eventually that unhappiness would have turned into resentment and hate. Thankfully Maura never put that kind of pressure on Jane. Of course she was worried about her all the time. But she respected Jane and her job.
Cameron assumes that Jane is single and therefore available "So did you get married and have kids?" Hoping the answer is no as the last time he was with Jane the sex was incredible.
"Erm.." she's says trying to think of how to let him down gently. As she can see that glint in his eye like before. She's very good at reading people and their body language. And she can tell he's hoping for them both to start where they left off. Just then out of the corner of her eye she sees Maura and Amelia. Perfect Timing she thinks to herself.
Getting up from the table she places a kiss on the blondes lips. Turning to Cameron she can see the confusion in his eyes. "Actually Cameron, this is my wife Dr Maura Isles-Rizzoli...you remember her from before?" she asks, "And this is our daughter Amelia".
At first he sits there with his mouth open then suddenly realises he is being extremely rude. "Erm, yes of course" he says standing up to take Maura's hand to shake. "Nice to meet you again Maura, and you both have a beautiful daughter" he says genuinely sincere. Downing the rest of his coffee he gets up to leave. "Jane it was wonderful to see you again" leaning in he gives her a kiss on her cheek. "And I'm really happy for you" he says.
Jane can't help but smile back, Cameron is genuinely such a nice guy. Any girl who ends up with him is lucky to have him. "Thank you" she says softly. Before he leaves she asks him "Would you like to come round for dinner sometime?" she says.
Not sure if he should answer, Maura jumps in with almost giddy excitement. "Oh please do, I've missed having our dinner parties since being here" the blonde says. Not wanting to refuse a lady he agrees. "Ok, that would be nice, thank you". He starts to walk off when Jane shouts after him, "And besides, you can meet our nanny" she says with a cheeky wink which she can see makes him laugh.
Sitting back down to face her wife, Jane picks up her coffee before taking a sip she says "Well, that was unexpected".
"How did it make you feel? Seeing him after all these years?" Maura asks.
Jane isn't sure what the blonde is implying "What do you mean?" she asks. She's trying to read her wife, but her facial expressions are not giving away hints.
Maura would be lying if she didn't feel some jealousy towards the man, after all last time Jane and Cameron were together they were at it like rabbits, Jane's words. By all accounts he was a very good lover. "Do you have any feelings for him?" she asks while looking intently at her wife.
"Of course not, why would you think that?" Jane asks unsure why her wife is feeling so insecure. "Maura, I've not seen or heard from him in nearly ten years".
She is unable to look at her, feeling foolish and silly for being jealous of one of Jane's former lovers.
Jane can see the look on her wife's face, she looks like she is going to cry. Taking the blondes hands in her own she squeezes them until she is looking at her. "Hey baby, I love you, and if you're feeling a little jealous that's OK" she says smiling at her. "I'm always jealous when I meet any of your former lovers" she says with a laugh.
Maura instantly relaxes at this. "Really!" she asks. She knew Jane had a jealous streak in her. But she didn't realise to what extent.
"Always" She says with a smile. "You know" Jane says leaning in and whispering in her wife's ear "you being jealous is so fucking hot...if we didn't have Amelia with us I would take you somewhere and do very naughty things to you". Pulling away she can see the desire in the blondes eyes.
Maura can feel the heat starting to form between her legs, just imagining Jane doing really naughty things to her is making her wet. "Can you take me home?" she asks.
"I'm all yours baby" Jane says before capturing her wife's lips with her own.
That afternoon Jane was true to her word, and fucked Maura's brains out. Thankfully for them Amelia slept through it all.
"Oh...my..god" Maura cries grabbing at the bed sheets beneath her. She thinks she has actually died and gone to heaven. When she thinks she is finally spent, another wave of ecstasy crashes down on her. "Fuck….me...I've cummed" she screams through breathless shouts.
Laying there trying to get air into her lungs, Jane surfaces from between her legs all hot and sweaty and places a kiss on Maura's soft lips.
"Eight" Jane says before collapsing onto the bed next to her wife.
Maura is confused "Eight what?" she says still breathless.
Rolling onto her front so she is looking at the blonde, "Eight times I've made you cum" Jane says smiling "you're like a fucking cumming machine" letting out a raspy laugh.
"Oh Jane, you certainly have a way with words" Maura says turning over and snuggling into Jane, resting an arm on her stomach. They just stay like that for a few moments, neither women saying anything. Without even realising it Maura is tracing the scar on Jane's chest. Running her finger gently up and down the big scar. Jane starts to tense beneath her, realising what she has done. "Oh Jane" Maura says placing a kiss on the scar then moving up to the brunettes face.
Placing a gentle kiss on the scar on her face she pulls Jane's face towards her. "I love every bit of you my sweet girl, your just as beautiful as the first time I saw you" she says wiping the stray tear that is falling down Jane's cheek. Placing both her hands on the side of the brunettes face, Maura places a long soft kiss. Breaking apart for air, Maura can see the love in Jane's eyes. Not saying anything else Maura grabs a blanket and pulls it over the both of them, feeling Jane's arm around her. She snuggles into her wife, soon enough both have drifted off into a peaceful sleep.
