Steph felt as if she was going to melt. The air conditioner in her building stopped working and outside was so hot it looked as if the streets were turning to liquid.
Hearing a knock at her door, she looked up from her laptop and went to investigate. Opening the door, Steph couldn't help but smile when she saw Jason standing there with a very large box next to him.
"I got you a portable air conditioner, shall I set it up?" Jason asked, looking at Steph.
"You definitely can, but first, where's my kiss," Steph replied, reaching for Jason.
Jason didn't think that hearing words about being okay is what Steph needed right now. She had been crying in her room for the last two hours and Jason didn't want to wait any longer. He wanted to comfort her, to hold her, tell her she is very much loved.
Knocking once before entering the bedroom, Jason saw Steph look up at him, tears streaming down her face. Grabbing a handful of tissues, he handed them to her before lying behind her and pulling her close.
Gently stroking Steph's head, Jason whispered sweet nothings into her ear, calming her down.
Steph could smell stale alcohol as she walked into Wayne Manor and it concerned her. Sitting down on the couch, she pulled out her laptop and connected to the wifi, hoping to finish her assignment.
"Hey Steph," Jason said, flopping down next her but not before giving her a quick kiss.
"Hey," Steph smiled. "Why does the front smell like the aftermath of a party?"
"No idea, I was on patrol last night with you," Jason replied, getting comfortable.
"Hmm, okay. I won't be able to patrol tonight, I have an assignment due and it's worth half of my grade."+
Biting into his apple, Jason aimed his gun at the target in front of him and fired, the bullet going right through the centre.
"You need to teach me how to do that," Steph said, watching him practice.
"Guns are bad, never aim them at a criminal," Jason retorted, taking another bite.
"Show me, for protection?" Steph asked, watching him throw the core away.
"Sure, come here."
Taking the gun, Steph allowed him to manipulate her body until she was in the perfect position. His body was warm, and it made her feel things deep inside. She fired the gun.
Steph liked to go for long walks through the park when she felt stressed. Today was one of those days. She felt like she had too much going on and not enough time. Not looking where she was going, her foot twisted when she accidently stepped into a pothole.
Swearing at herself, she hobbled over to the nearest bench and knew it wasn't good. Sighing, she pulled out her phone and called Jason and within a few minutes he was there by her side.
"Definitely broken," he said, examining her foot.
"Just great." A broken foot was all she needed.
Steph could finally say she knew what it was like to be arrested. She was on her way home from the campus library and walked past an out-of-control party and accidently bumped into a police officer who proceeded to arrest her for assault.
So, here she was, sitting in the holding cell, waiting for Jason and Babs to get her out. It had been almost five hours before an officer came and collected her, leading her to the reception area where Jason was death-staring the cop who locked her up.
"We are so sorry, Ma'am."
"You should be, let's go."
Jason wanted to be a good boyfriend to Steph. He wanted to be there for her, make her happy, make her laugh, and give her a shoulder to cry on when needed.
This is how he found himself at midnight, standing in the middle of a gas station looking at snacks. He knew Steph had a bad day and she was trying to ignore it by studying.
Buying a bunch of chocolate and candy, Jason purchased the items and went to Steph's. Sliding in through the window, he sat down next to her and wrapped an arm around her shoulders.
Steph knew she had to be brave. She wasn't scared or anything, she just didn't like facing her father while not suited up.
Seeing him marching towards her, she put on a brave face and smiled at him. It didn't take him long before he picked Steph up and slammed her into the closest wall.
Not even a second later, Arthur was down on the ground, withering in pain.
"Never lay a hand on a lady, especially not one on my girlfriend!" Jason seethed, standing over him. "Are you okay, babe?" Jason asked, turning his attention to Steph.
"I am."
