*Hey, hey! So in the new family reunited story, I mentioned that Jessie and Buzz were married, and one of you asked if I could include that in the shorts. So this is what their wedding would look like. Enjoy!*
"Well I did, partner! I finally finished it." Buzz said to Woody proudly one morning. Woody was going over notes for the next room meeting.
"And what, may I ask, have you finished?" Woody asked, not looking up from his notebook.
"Remember when I said I was going to ask Jessie to marry me? Well, her ring is finally finished. Take a look." Woody looked up and Buzz held out a small ring. Taking it, the cowboy examined it. The base of the ring was made of clay and painted brown. In the middle was a delicately carved out sunflower with a green gem in the center.
"Wow, buddy. This is beautiful! How long did it take you to make the flower?"
"A week. And then another week for it to dry. But it was definitely worth the wait, huh?"
"Absolutely. This is some high quality craftwork, Buzz. Jessie will love it."
"You think she'll say yes?"
"Buzz, if I know my sister, and I do, she is going to say yes. She has been in love with you since Sunnyside."
"And you're okay with this still, right? Me marrying your sister?" Buzz asked.
"As I told you before, you don't need my permission to marry Jessie, Woody said, laughing. But yes, Buzz, I am more than okay with you marrying her. In fact, I can't think of anyone else who I'd rather see spend her life with than you. I trust you, Buzz."
"Thanks Sheriff."
"Wait, are you doing it now?"
"Of course. No time like the present, right? Wish me luck!" Buzz ran out of the room, out the dog door in the kitchen, and into the garden where rows and rows of sunflowers were planted. And sitting in the center of them, petting Bullseye, was his red-haired cowgirl. Clearing his throat, he placed the hand with the ring in it behind his back and walked over to her.
"Hey Buzz!" Jessie said when he approached her.
"Hey Jess, Bullseye. May I join you?" He asked.
"Sure. We were just playing fetch." Jessie held up a small twig. "Go get it boy!" She threw it and Bullseye rushed after it. They both laughed. Jessie turned to him and kissed his cheek. "What brings you out here to my sunflower cove?"
"There's something I've been wanting to ask you, but I wanted to say this to you first. Jessie, since we met, you have become one of the most important people in my life. You inspire me, amaze me, and enchant me everyday, and I can't even begin to imagine a life without you in it. Jessica Jane Pride, will you marry me?" Buzz moved into a kneeling position and held out the ring. Jessie took one look at it and placed a hand over her heart, gasping in amazement.
"Oh Buzz. Yes, yes of course I will!" Buzz placed the ring on her tiny hand and she jumped in his arms, kissing him. "Oh I am so happy! Where can we have the ceremony?"
"Wherever you desire, my love." Jessie looked around and smiled.
"How about right here, in the sunflower garden?"
"Perfect. It will be a beautiful wedding, because I'm marrying the perfect girl."
"Awe Buzz." They kissed and then ran inside to tell Woody and start planning.
Three weeks later, on a warm afternoon, Andy had gone away for the weekend on a small road trip and the toys gathered in the garden for Jessie and Buzz's wedding. They had formed a small circle with Buzz and Woody towards the front. The music started as Barbie walked down the aisle in a sunflower colored dress. Buzz was shaking a bit, making Woody look over at him.
"Not getting cold feet, are you Buzz?" He asked.
"No. No, no, no, nuh uh. Not me." Buzz said. Woody glared at him. "Okay maybe. Is this a bad idea? I mean, the ceremony is beautiful, but Jessie is a dime a dozen, she could get any guy she wants, but she chose me! I mean how crazy is that? But I feel something is gonna go wrong, I mean that's what happens during weddings, right? I..." Woody pulled him to the side and slapped him. "Ow, what was that for?"
"To get you to stop freaking out. Calm down, okay? Nothing is going to go wrong. I have planned this to a T. It will be perfect. And about Jessie? Buzz, she chose you because she loves you. Is it crazy? No, it's love. You and her are meant to be with one another. Everyone here knows it. Jessie wouldn't be doing this if she didn't love you with everything she has."
"For real?"
"For real real. Look, if you don't believe me, look down the aisle, right now." They moved back to the center just as Rosetta was walking down, in a sunflower colored knee length dress, a bouquet of sunflowers in her hands. Behind her, sitting side saddle on Bullseye, was Jessie. On top she wore her usual cowgirl getup, but below she wore a white high low skirt, showing off a pair of white pants and her cowgirl boots. In her hair she wore a crown of sunflowers with a small white veil flowing behind her. Buzz was in awe. Woody smiled and then leaned down.
"There is your dime a dozen. She may be crazy to want to marry you, but it's because she is crazy in love with you, and only you, Buzz. Why, she even wore a veil for you. That's how much she wants to be with you."
"Are you just saying all this because she's your sister and she'll kick your butt if she hears you saying something bad about her?"
"No, I'm saying this because she's my sister and she'll kill both of us if you run."
"No need to worry, sheriff. Because I'm crazy for her as well." Woody smiled and stood up straight.
"That's what I wanted to hear." Bullseye made his way up the aisle, and Rosetta helped Jessie down. "Go get her, brother." Buzz walked towards her and extended his hand out to her. She took it and they walked back up to Woody.
"Friends, we come together today, to witness and unite Jessie and Buzz in marriage. We gather around them here in this wonderful place, and we look on with love and hope as these two begin their new life together as one. Woody said, proudly. Marriage is a tradition of partnership, trust, and dependence on one another to navigate the sometimes-stormy seas of life. It begins with love. Love that comes from willing to make sacrifices, committing to work through everything together, and maintaining open communications - even when it is difficult. And most important, love that makes the work it takes to maintain it all worth the wait. On top of that foundation of love - a mixture of work, sacrifice, and commitment - we can build things like trust and intimacy, and all of the beautiful things that make a marriage worthwhile." He sighed and looked at Jessie and Buzz. "Buzz and Jessie, my best friends, are you ready to proclaim that foundation of love for one another today?"
"We are." Buzz and Jessie said together.
"Then please turn and face one another. Take each other's hands. Jessie, we'll start with you. Do you take Buzz to be your lawfully wedded husband? Will you honor and cherish him; love, trust, and commit to him, through joy and pain, sickness and health, and whatever life may throw at you both, as long as you both shall live?"
"I do." Jessie said smiling. Woody turned to Buzz.
"Buzz, do you take Jessie to be your lawfully wedded wife? Will you honor and cherish her; love, trust, and commit to her, through joy and pain, sickness and health, and whatever life may throw at you both, as long as you both shall live?"
"I do." Buzz said happily.
"Buzz and Jessie have written short vows to give to one another. Woody said. I'd like to invite them to read them now. Buzz, will you start?" The cowboy moved back to give the couple space. Buzz cleared his throat and looked deep into Jessie's eyes.
"Jessie, I knew shortly after we met that we would be partners, not just for a moment, but for life. You take my breath away every time I see you, and I still get butterflies in your presence. I promise to love you in this life and beyond as we walk side-by-side as life partners. I loved you then, and I love you now, until the end of time." He turned to Rosetta, who held out a small silver band. "With this ring, I thee wed, and with it, I bestow upon you my life, my love, and my heart, for infinity and beyond."
"Nicely done, buddy. Very romantic." Woody said. "Jessie?" Jessie took a deep breath.
Buzz, it's been said that 'There will be dozens of people who will take your breath away, but the one who reminds you to breathe is the one you should keep.' You do both-you are my rock, the one who keeps me grounded, and I love how when I'm down, you always pull me back up-and you remind me to breathe every once in a while. You are my light in the darkness and my one true love." She turned to Rose, who gave her a similar silver ring. "I give you this ring as a symbol of my love and my faith in our strength together. Wherever we go, we go together, always." Behind them, Woody sniffed and rubbed his eyes.
"Ah, these sunflowers, making my nose go crazy." Woody said, brushing it off. He cleared his throat and continued. "Jessie and Buzz, having proclaimed your love and commitment to one another in the eyes of your loved ones, with the power vested in me, I am so happy to pronounce you Mr. and Mrs. Buzz Lightyear. You may kiss the bride!" Buzz moved in slowly, but Jessie grabbed him and dipped him back, kissing him on the lips.
Back in the bedroom, the reception had begun. Everyone laughed and danced. Then Woody got on the microphone.
"Alright gang. Time to slow things down, for it's time to invite the happy couple onto the floor for their first dance. This is a perfect song, for it's the way Buzz feels every time he lays eyes on his beautiful bride." He started playing a tune on his guitar and Buzz recognized the song instantly. He saluted his friend and took Jessie's hands, spinning her around the room.
I'm Speechless
Staring at you, standing there in that dress
What it's doing to me ain't a secret
Cause watching you is all that I can do
I'm Speechless
You already know that you're my weakness
After all this time I'm just as nervous
Everytime you walk in the room
I'm speechless
Yeah baby.
Woody continued the song, watching his sister and best friend dancing. Seeing them so happy and in love, reminded him of his and Bo's wedding last year. After finishing the song, Jessie hugged him and the dancing resumed. Jessie danced with Rose for a bit while Buzz and Woody talked.
"Thank you for doing this, partner. Seriously, you've given us a beautiful wedding. I really can't thank you enough." Buzz said.
"Your welcome, partner. Woody said. It was my pleasure. Just make it count, each and everyday. You never know when...if it will, ah! Nope, I'm sorry. Getting all mushy and weird on your day."
"Hey, don't worry about it Woody. I know this makes you think of Bo, and it's alright. If it's any consolation, I wish she were here too. I know Jessie would've loved to have her as a maid of honor."
"Eh, I don't know about that. Bo would've made her wear an actual dress instead of a skirt." The two of them cracked up at that. "In all seriousness though, Bo would've loved this. I do wish she was here."
"She is, and one day, when you see her again, because I know for a fact that you will see her again, you can tell her all about this day." Woody was about to say something when Jessie came over.
"Hey Mr. two left feet! Time for our dance." She said, pulling him onto the floor. Rex pressed a button on the computer and a slow country tune came on that Jessie recognized immediately. "Rascal Flatts? Really bro?"
"Hey, they are good in any situation. Woody said. This one especially because it tells of someone wanting good will and fortune to a person they love and care about most." Jessie looked up at him. "You're my sister, Jess. The third most important woman in my life next to Bo and Rosetta. I want you to have everything life has to offer you, and more."
"Awe, Woody. Thank you." She lay her head on his chest. "You and Buzz were talking about Bo again, weren't you?"
"He was saying how much she would've loved to be here, and how she could've been your maid of honor."
"Oh, I wanted that too. Literally the entire time getting ready, I heard her voice in my mind." She laughed, and then her face dropped. "I miss her. I do hope one day that we'll get to see her again, you especially. That's my wish for you."
"Thanks Jess." They continued dancing as the last bit of the song played out.
My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to
Your dreams stay big, your worries stay small
You never need to carry more than you can hold
And while you're out there getting where you're getting to
I hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things too
Yeah, this, is my wish
*A little long for a one shot, but I wanted to get all the details in there. Also a quick little mention of Bo in there since she wasn't with them. Next short will be my version of Hawaiian Vacation. May have to make that a two part short! Till next time, ya'll!*
