Heero snorted. It wasn't that he didn't appreciate Duo's cooking. The boy was moderately skilled, when he wasn't distracted. However, four meals of peanut butter sandwiches were quite enough to annoy the stoic pilot.
"Duo," he said slowly "what are you making."
"Sandwiches Hee-kun. Want one?"
Quatre flinched inwardly and he shook his head. "Duo."
"Hm?" Duo muttered turning to face the blond spoon in hand and mouth busy.
"Enjoy your sandwich." Heero mumbled losing his nerve to question the braided baka.
Duo shrugged and returned to making sandwiches and licking the peanut butter off his fingers.
Three months later, Duo had yet to grow tired of peanut butter and although he was growing increasingly creative with his preperation and presentation, Heero had long since grown tired of the stuff. He was also honorable enough he didn't want to offend Duo by complaining. So he had called up Relena. The Vice Foreign Minister, Ex-Queen-of-the-World, Diplomat and Princess probably wrote advice columns in her spare time. So of course as soon as she heard Heero's predicament she cracked up.
"Pea...nut Butter?" She managed between gasping laughter. "I'm sorry." She slowly composed herself. "It's not funny, I know. It's just..." Here she broke off into a giggling fit that evolved back into howling laughter. She twisted around in her seat trying to look apologetic. Eventually she did pull herself together and try to help. "Have you tried taking him out to dinner? Offering to prepare the meals yourself?"
"Yes, I've tried both, but I didn't have the heart to do it for more than one meal. He" he looked away and Relena swore she saw his cheeks flush. "He looked, kuso, he looked so broken hearted over it, I couldn't do that to him."
"It's just... peanut butter?" She looked ready to go off into laughter again when she paused, a horrified look on her face. "Heero, have...have you ever seen a film called "Meet Joe Black"?"
Heero frowned and tipped his head. "No, I don't think I have. When..."
"Oh it's ancient, something pre-colony. But I think it'll explain some things." She bit her lip and offered to loan him a copy. Heero hnned his assent and thanked her before cutting the vidfeed.
