No More

At 5 AM Lilah was standing in front of the window in her hotel room. Usually, the sun would rise around now, and the light would wake her up for a new day even before the alarm clock did. She'd always liked waking up that way. After dedicating her life to the dark she appreciated this little bit of light that was left. Yet lately there hadn't been a sun to wake her up anymore, and even though Lilah was pretty sure Angel Inc would eventually find a way to save the world, she had a feeling that she wouldn't be around for the next sunrise. Today she'd go back to the Hyperion Hotel, because she'd heard Angelus was back. Could be interesting, and besides, sitting around here waiting till the world did or did not end was pretty boring. Pity of the nice goodbye she'd had with Wes, but who cared about that?

Days later, still no sun, Lilah was running through the hotel, passing her last seconds by pretending to actually think she could hide from Angelus. She'd known all the time this moment would come eventually, and she'd accepted it, but she just didn't think it would be so... terrifying. She almost wished she was leading a different life now, with a job at a normal law firm. Then she would be laying in bed right now, waiting for the misery to stop and the sun to rise again. That wasn't the case for Lilah, though. She was going to die, and that was exactly what she told Cordelia when they ran into each other.

'He's gonna kill us!', Lilah exclaimed, unusually terrified.

'I know. Why do you think I let him out, you stupid bitch? '.

A stab, and Lilah was gone. Dead. Immediately. No silly sentimental good-byes or thoughts for Lilah. Everything just stopped. No more Wesley, no more waking up at sunrise, and no more work.

For now.
