Ninja Storm: Rise of the Eclipse- Chapter 31: A Gem of the Day
Disclaimer: Saban owns all Power Ranger lines. I only own Crystal and Lucy and anything else unrecognizable.

It was supposed to be a peaceful morning. Something that Crystal and Lucy wanted since the day they joined the team. The youngest Brewer was in her bed, reading one of the new books that Crystal had bought her.

The older Brewer was meditating in the living room, sitting on a yoga mat. The silence that surrounded the Guardian calmed her. It calmed the voices in her head. The loudest one being the oldest Guardian. It was deafening to hear her speak. Demanding that she inhabit Crystal's body to take back the world that once rejected her.

That silence was broken when the shrill of her morpher echoed throughout the apartment. Huffing a breath and shoving a chunk of hair behind her ear, the blonde reached for it. "Brewer,"

"We need you and Lucy at Ops," Cam reported.

"Sure, nothing like a ninja meeting to ruin my morning," Crystal grumbled, strapping her morpher on. She climbed from her mat, moving to her sister's door. One pound had Lucy opening the door. "We're needed at Ops,"

"When are we never?" Lucy groaned, her forehead resting against her door. "Let me put pants on. Out in five… make that ten,"

By the time the sisters arrived, the others had gathered. Cam was holding one of the hilts to Zurgane's sword. "Is that Zurgane's?" Lucy questioned, plucking the object from Cam's hands. "He doesn't go anywhere without them,"

"After we found the sword, I located a satellite picture of the area." Cam pressed a few keys, bringing up a video of Vexacus slashing Zurgane to the ground.

"It is true, Rangers." Sensei turned around to face the team. "Vexacus has destroyed Zurgane,"

Crystal pinched the bridge of her nose. "Okay, I know I'm not the only one that's not going to miss him, b-but why?"

"It appears that a power struggle is at play in Lothor's lair," Sensei explained.

"Isn't that a good thing?" Dustin spoke up, grabbing everyone's attention. "I mean, maybe they'll just fight each other until no one's left,"

"That is possible, Dustin." Sensei agreed. "But I suspect Lothor has an even more sinister plot in mind,"

"So, what do we do next?" Shane questioned.

Everyone turned to Sensei. "The time has come to face the enemy proactively. We must reinforce our ranks by reducing all the captured ninjas. We must find a way onto Lothor's ship."

"Well, that's not going to be easy. Trust us," Blake told him.

"Lothor's ship is protected by a powerful energy field," Cam explained. "Without some way to break through, we'll never get in,"

"Leave that to me," Hunter spoke up, walking out of Ops.

"I'll go make sure dumbass doesn't get in trouble," Crystal muttered to Blake, trailing Hunter.

"Am I just going to guess why you're out here?" The golden Guardian called, leaning against the rock that blocked Hunter from her view.

The crouching blond turned to her. "What?" He asked, hiding something behind his back.

Crystal deadpanned. "You've been acting a little odd lately, bug boy. And it has nothing to do with Rangers or moto, so spill."

A bird flew overhead. "So my readings are correct." Vexacus snarled. A giant bird landed next to him, across from the two ninjas. "Meet Condortron! An ingenious creation if I do say so myself," Vexacus gloated.

"Dude, that's one ugly bird," Crystal joked, clenching her fist. "Like, seriously, one ugly bird,"

"What are you doing here?" Hunter called.

"I suspect, the same thing you are." Vexacus pointed to the small bag in Hunter's hand.

Crystal turned to see it. When her eyes landed on the bag, a small wave of nausea hit her. "Hunter, what did you do?" Vexacus would have sent her flying, had Hunter not tackled her to the ground. "Hunter," She ground out, shaking the confusion from her head.

"Sorry," Hunter breathed, climbing to his feet and standing in front of his downed girlfriend. He turned to the general. "I got more important things to think about right now!"

Thunder Storm, Ranger Form

"Attack him!" Vexacus ordered, pointing right at Hunter.

Crystal moved out of the way, leaning against the rock. She lifted her morpher to her lips. "Cam?" She called. "We got trouble,"

"Ah, my favorite fish," Lucy muttered. "I'm gonna slam his ugly mug into the ground faster than Crystal or I can take out one of you boys." A chuckle and a high-five followed.

"Seriously, we need help." Crystal argued. "Just get here fast,"

Lucy was the first to reach the scene. She ran to her sister, seeing the golden ninja on the ground. "What happened?" She asked, pulling her helmet off.

"I don't know," Crystal grunted, breathing heavily when Shane and Dustin pulled her to her feet. "One second, I'm fine and the next I feel like I'm going to throw up,"

"That doesn't make any sense," Cam shook his head.

"No, it does," Lucy shot back. "When's the last time you felt like that?"

"Look, Hunter's getting slammed by fish face. We'll figure this out after taking down Big Bird." Crystal stood straight, rolling her shoulders back.

"You are no match for Condortron!" Vexacus laughed.

Hunter climbed to his knees, ready to take on the stupid bird again. Condortron tried to attack, but a silver blast knocked him back. He turned around, seeing the rest of his team biking towards him. "Guys!" He called, standing up.

"You okay?" Cam asked, jumping off Shane's bike.

"Yeah," Hunter nodded. He glanced at Crystal, who was standing by Lucy's bike. He turned to face the bird a second later.

A flash appeared in front of Vexacus and Condortron. The flash turned into Motodrone and Kelzaks. "Miss me?" Motodrone cackled.

"You?" Hunter groaned.

"Huh?" Tori tilted her head.

Vexacus didn't seem happy with the arrival of his teammate. "This is my battle!" He snarled.

Motodrone didn't seem to care. He threw a hand out, pointing at the Rangers. "Attack!"

Shane took on a pod of Kelzaks. "Laser fire!" He called, firing red beams at the Kelzaks around him. He popped a wheelie, turning his bike around and taking out another pod of them.

Tori and Blake took on Motodrone. But the general knew what's up. He fired lasers at the two, blinding them. Revving his bike, the golden monster took off to take out the two Rangers. Blake turned to Tori. "Ready?"

"Yeah," Tori agreed. She flipped off her bike, jumping over him and firing a laser as the general rode by. Blake mirrored her actions, sending a navy laser to match. The general rolled from his bike.

Cam and Crystal were taking on pods of Kelzaks when Condortron slammed into Crystal. It sent her skidding back, stopping a few feet from her teammates. "Ow," She complained.

"Crystal, you okay?" Cam asked, helping the ninja up.

"Hurts even more since I'm exhausted," The blonde breathed.

"Ninja Glider Bike!" Hunter announced, calling forth his specialty bike. He kicked a kelzak in the chest, dodged one then sent another flying before landing on his bike. "Flight mode, engage!" In a second he was flying behind Condortron in the air. He was about to take out the overgrown bird when a blast of lightning from Vexacus threw off his bike. Then Condortron collided head-on with him, sending the Crimson Ranger to the ground.

"Hunter!" Blake yelled, taking off to check on his brother. "Hunter!" He ran to him, helping him up.

"Yeah, I'm okay," Hunter assured.

"Lucky I came when I did," Motodrone smiled at Vexacus. The tides of the battle were in favor of the Rangers. As usual.

"I didn't request backup!" Vexacus snarled.

"Aw, you should take it," Lucy bit, spinning her lance around and tucking it under her arm. "You might not get beat so hard,"

"I will leave you this time," Motodrone told him. "But, beware, I am watching you." He and the Kelzaks disappeared a second later.

Vexacus turned to Condortron. "Return to the ship. I will handle this alone." The bird nodded, flying off to Lothor's ship. "Any last words?"

The Rangers gathered around Hunter and Blake. "Yeah," Cam stepped forward. "Super Samurai Mode!" He called, dropping the gold chest piece. His helmet flipped around.

"I got some!" Lucy slid across the ground in front of Vexacus, striking his chest. He stumbled back. Lucy stood and whipped around, slicing him again with her lance. "Screw you, jackass," She sent him back.

Crystal appeared a second later, her rapier in her hand. She wasn't as fast as she was normally. Which worried the Rangers. "You know something, Vexacus," She pointed the tip of her rapier at him. "I liked you up until the point where you wanted to kill my team. I mean, I was fine with you destroying Zurgane. I hated him, but then you bring this ugly bird into the fight and I'm just not here for it."She took off, charging him. Vexacus was faster, slipping past her and slicing her back. Crystal rolled, flipping around to land on her feet. She took off again, locking blades with him. They pushed against each other under Vexacus pulled Crystal from her feet. The golden guardian was sent to the ground painfully.

The fish-faced general was about to take Crystal out when Lucy jumped in. The silver guardian sliced his torso, sending him back from her sister. That sent him flying back a little. A second later, Lucy slammed her shoulder into him then swung across his torso once more.

Vexacus recovered quickly. "I'm pulling the strings now!" He cackled, throwing his arms out to the six Rangers standing together. Tendrils of lightning appeared, wrapping around the Rangers and sending them into the sky. "Dance!" He cried, shifting his hands and in turn the lightning.

The Rangers collided with each other. All were groaning when they hit the ground roughly. Cam climbed to his feet. "What do you want?" He demanded.

Instead of answering, Vexacus threw his arm out, hurling a ball of light at the Green Ranger. More tendrils of lightning wrapped around Cam, pulling him to the general. Once Cam was in front of him, he roughly grabbed the ninja. "Just having some fun!" He called, lifting Cam and slamming him on the ground.

Lucy pulled Crystal to her feet. "We gotta help them," Crystal told her sister, clutching her stomach.

"You're drained from whatever happened before we arrived," Lucy told her, the silver helmet sparkling. She turned her head to see the fight unfold.

The Rangers climbed to their feet, watching Vexacus haul Cam up. "Give him back!" Shane yelled.

"Sure," Vexacus laughed, throwing Cam to the side. He reached back to his sword. "I'll take you all,"

"Ninja Swords," The Rangers called, pulling their respective sword out. The five charged.

"Ninja Shadow Battle!"

Each Ranger went to strike, but instead of hitting him, Vexacus was the one to hit. When the shadow battle ended, all the Rangers fell to the ground, groaning from the strikes Vexacus delivered.

"Navy Antlers!" Blake called out, pinching Vexacus around the waist. He went for a punch, but Vexacus caught it, pinning it to his chest.

Hunter jumped in, his blaster in hand. "Let him go, you docile dufus!" Hunter insulted while firing a few lasers.

Vexacus laughed, sending Blake at his brother. "Ready for a vex hex?" He laughed, making the Rangers turn to him. The ground began to shake as a large shark appeared below Vexacus. "Land shark attack!" He called, barreling through the two Thunder Rangers.

"You okay?" Dustin asked, running to them with the rest of the team.

"Guys!" Shane called. He stopped and looked around. "Where is he?"

Vexacus appeared a second later. "You didn't think I'd leave without saying goodbye?" He laughed. "With or without the gem, I will defeat you." He disappeared a second later.

"Gem?" Lucy questioned, pulling her helmet from her head. The rest of the Rangers opened their visors.

"What gem?" Tori asked, glancing at Crystal. She then glanced at Hunter. "What did he mean, Hunter?"

The golden guardian was lying on the ground, her helmet by her head. "Guys, I think I'm a little more pooped than normal,"

Lucy moved over to her. "Guys, we need to get her to Ops. Whatever Hunter has is seriously messing with her powers,"

"The Gem of Souls," Hunter finally answered when everyone reached Ops. The Rangers were scattered around, taking up the library stairs and the table. Crystal was laying on her back, head in Lucy's lap and a blanket over her body. Once the two guardians cleared the stairs, Crystal practically collapsed from whatever Hunter had. It took Shane and Dustin hauling her off her sister to get the guardian into the spot she was in now.

"But I threw it into the ocean?" Cam questioned, an eyebrow raised.

Hunter pulled a bag from his uniform. Resting in the center of Hunter's palm was a few chunks of the gem. "Not all of it," He admitted.

Blake shifted. "You should have told me… or Crystal,"

Lucy apprehensively stood. "No one knew?"

"No," Blake answered for his brother. "And we're going to have a long talk what, aren't we, bro?"

"I was gonna tell you," Hunter responded. "But the more time that passed, the harder it got. I'm sorry,"

"Those fragments must have been the source of the radiation I was tracking." Cam stating, pointing at the gem pieces. "It had nothing to do with Zurgane's sword."

"After Lothor shattered the gem, I hid these two pieces out there," Hunter explained. "I'd go out there now and again to find out if they'd help me contact my parents,"

"I understand that sometimes your loss is difficult to accept," Sensei spoke up. "But what's done is done. You can never go back in time."

"Not without a scroll or something?" Dustin added.

Hunter breathed. "I know my parents are gone, but I still miss them and those students on Lothor's ship — someone misses them, too. But it's not too late for them. Let's bring 'em back." He held the pieces out for Cam.

After detailing every part of his plan to the Rangers, Cam stood with them in Ops. He was decked out in his suit, his helmet tucked under his arm. "With the gem shards, I should have enough power to break through Lothor's energy fields," Cam explained. "Once I've done that, you guys should be able to teleport right onto the ship."

"We'll be standing by," Shane told him.

"Be careful, Cam," Tori added.

Cam sighed. "Why does everyone keep telling me that?" He turned around, moving to head to the new zord he created.

"Because you're going into the belly of the beast," Lucy yelled at him.

"Don't get eaten!" Crystal called from where she was lying on her sister.

"Why would he get eaten?" Blake questioned, looking at the guardian.

The blonde turned her head to see him. "He's heading into an evil space ninja's lair. Who knows what scary creature that guy's got,"

"You are so weird," Hunter breathed, laughing with the rest of the Rangers.

The Rangers sat and watched Cam head up to Lothor's ship. But as soon as he got close, red lasers started to fire. The whole team sat forward. "Cam!" Shane called. "Cam! Come in,"

"I'm hit, but I'm okay," The Green Ranger assured them."My bigger problem is, if I don't get closer, I'll never be able to break through the energy field,"

The computer beeping took the attention away from Cam. Appearing on the screen was the large version of Condortron. "Guys," Lucy pointed to the screen. "The overgrown pigeon's back,"

"We have to call the zords," Shane told his team.

"But we can't leave Cam out there," Hunter shot back.

Crystal turned her head. "But if we don't deal with feathers, he'll destroy the city,"

"Cyber Cam and I will monitor my son," Sensei spoke up. "You must take the zords and face Condortron."

"Let's go!" Tori called, turning to take off after the sisters with the guys behind her.

The Eclipse Megazord stood in front of the larger Wind and thunder Megazords, its rapier by its side. "Wow, he's even uglier as a large monster," Crystal insulted.

Shane shook his head. "Let's do this!"

"Right with ya, Shane," Hunter agreed.

The Wind and Thunder Megazords pulled their blasters out, firing shots at the bird. He squared but pushed through it, running at the three. The Eclipse Megazord maneuvered out of the way, avoiding the swing that was coming for them. Unfortunately, the Wind and Thunder weren't as lucky. They were sent stumbling back.

Condortron then went in for another hit, ramming into the Wind Megazord with the Thunder pushing against it. "We can beat this bird," Hunter rallied.

"Concentrate!" Tori added.

"We can do this!" Shane called.

The two Megazords shove Condortron back in, just in time for the Eclipse Megazord to slash across his chest. That pushed him back even further. A shadow jumped over the Eclipse Megazord as Cam sliced down, hitting Condortron.

"Cam, you made it!" Shane smiled.

"I heard you needed some help," Cam joked, falling in line with the Eclipse Megazord. He went in for a double jab, sending Condortron back. "It's Hurricane Megazord time,"

"Locked and Dropped," The Rangers called, inserting and twisting their power disks. One loud explosion later resulted in the appearance of Hurricane Megazord. "Hurricane Megazord!" Calling on their final power, the Rangers sent Condortron flying.

"Right on!" Lucy turned, tapping her forearm with Crystal.

Crystal found Hunter sitting on the rock a day later. "Please tell me that there are no more surprises out here," She called, moving to stand behind him.

Hunter turned around. He chuckled. "No, I promise,"

"I know it must've been hard," The shorter blonde threw an arm around his shoulders. "For you to give the pieces up to try and save the students,"

"They weren't doing me much good out here anyways," Hunter shrugged, a hand interlacing with Crystal's.

"Yeah, but it got Cam onto the ship," Crystal shot back. The two fell into a lulled silence for a second. "I'm not mad about the gem pieces, by the way."

"Really?" Hunter peered over at her.

"I understand why you did it. If I could, I would have done the same." Hunter shot her a look. "I never knew my birth parents. Sensei Hamato found us near the rock formation of the Academy, both carrying the symbol of the Guardians. Brewer was the only thing that my birth parents gave us. I used to think that I was never going to be able to know them, but they never wanted to know us. But Hunter," Crystal turned to him. "We can't go back to change things, we can only take lessons from those who we have learned from,"

"Do you think we'll ever get back up there?" Hunter questioned, head tilted towards the sky as if he could see where his fellow ninjas were at the moment.

"No doubt about it. Cam's working on the vehicle now." The Guardian reported. "We'll bring them home, all of them. I promise,"

Hunter smiled, leaning over, and pressed a kiss to her mouth. "You're on,"

Ah! We're almost done with this book. I'm so excited to be done with the first chapter, (after an embarrassingly long time). I hope that everyone is enjoying the story.
