Wound

The drive was a slow one.

Both of them were immersed in their own thoughts. So much so, that Bonnie didn't even notice that they were already there. The Camaro came to a smooth stop and Damon sighed deeply after turning the key.

For the first time since being here, he actually wished that the place was void of any sort of life. The last thing they needed was a bunch of seething vampires that had been desiccating for over a century, to be released in a town of exactly one human. And he already had his hands full trying to keep said human alive, even when she flat out refused his efforts.

He never really saw himself as her protector or guardian and he wasn't going to start now, but she was his ticket out of here so he had to keep her safe.

As they got out his favorite car, he asked glancing at the small witch "Stay behind me and no funny business. By that I obviously mean don't do anything stupid, capiche?"

"Damon" she reproached him "It hasn't even been one hour since our pact and you're already breaking it"

The vampire sighed "Listen Bon Bon, you have to give me some leeway here. I'm over a century old; old habits are difficult to break and... you're human" he added as if that somehow justified his behaviour.

She scoffed "Precisely. If I can reel in my attitude when it comes to you, you can do the same. Being senile isn't a good enough excuse"

He actually stopped on his tracks and turned fast to her "You're all brave today Witchy"

"Don't get moody just because I called you old" she said playfully.

Though they both keeping it light, she was feeling a bit nervous. Whatever they found in the tomb could be great news or the opposite, and she desperately wanted good news. That and the fact that Damon, being as unpredictable as he was, could react in a way that could destroy all of their progress. Pact or no pact, Damon was still very much a wild card.

Damon could sense her distress. He too was feeling a certain way about it but he wasn't scared at all. He'd faced the tomb vampires before and, granted, he wasn't expecting them to be as strong as they were but even still, he was able to finish them off. He'd do it again if it came to it, however, deep down he was hoping that wouldn't be necessary.

Truth be told, he could feel his vampire side demanding control and he was trying hard to fight it. Really hard. Not only for Bonnie's safety, but an unhinged Damon was a world of problems – he didn't want to revert to that. Not after all of the progress he'd done in the last few years. That was the part of himself that he purposedly kept at bay, never suppressed but not exactly able to see the light of the day. It was more than just being thirsty and killing off random people, Damon was someone led by strong emotions. He'd always been like that. He felt things too much – too much love, rage, hate, envy – he felt it all in a scale that was unbearable sometimes. His mind could take him to the darkest of corners and have everyone at his mercy, not through fear but something else entirely...

Damon blinked and shook his head fast. This was not the time nor the place to revisit his pitfalls. They were on a mission and he had to be focused – sharp – and not allow himself to get caught off guard.

"Are you ready Judgy?" he asked her at once.

With a sigh she said "I am"

They both made their way to the tomb. With each step, Bonnie felt her heart beat faster, her throat was growing thick and she was pretty sure her mouth was dry. As they descended the stairs, Bonnie remembered Grams. This was where she had sacrificed her life in order to help her granddaughter; a granddaughter that was now allies with the vampire that pushed Sheila to her own death.

For a moment there, Bonnie stopped following Damon as the emotions hiccupped out of her. She could almost smell Sheila's perfume in the air as well as her own confusion and despair.

Bonnie had to hold on to one of the walls otherwise she would miss a step. With her eyes closed, the young girl took a couple of steps and inhaled deeply, trying to take control of her body. In and out, just like she usually did.

Breathe in, breathe out. You can do it Bonnie, she encouraged herself.

She slowly opened them only to find Damon staring back at her. Her instinct told her to scream which was what she did but he covered her mouth with his pale hand "Jesus Bennett cut it out!"

"What do you think you are doing?" she asked once he removed his hand.

"I was just checking on you" he was quick to defend himself "It's better if you don't give our location away to whomever might be lurking." he quickly checked her over before adding "Now, let's move"

She was ready to protest but she knew he was right. Unfortunately. With pursed lips she followed him "I'm fine thanks for asking by the way"

"Good"

She rolled her eyes and made every effort to keep unpleasant memories away. After all, there was only so much she could do about the past. She couldn't lose it now, she had to be strong and push through it because there was no way she was going to let any good shot they had slip through her fingers. She just had to hold on for a little longer.

"So, can you hear any heartbeats or something?" the young girl asked in an effort to get out of her head.

She didn't remember the tomb cave being so dark, there was barely any natural light coming in. She could only make out the outline of Damon's person. She fished out her phone and turned the flashlight on.

Damon made a noncommittal sound which prompted her to defend herself "I don't have night vision or supervision or anything, and it's getting super dark in here"

He chuckled amused "Actually, I also have X-Ray vision which means I can totally see–"

She slapped him lightly on the arm "Don't even go there"

He shrugged and she flashed the beam of light around to make sure she wouldn't trip on a loose rock or something. They kept going ahead for about five more minutes until Damon came to a sudden stop. She bounced against his back "Ouch! Next time give me a little warning, will you?"

He ignored her and turned left quickly and stopped again. "Mmmm..." he said pensive.

The petit witch moved around to try and see what it was that had Damon dumbfounded. She was staring into nothing, the tomb was just like she remembered, dusty, musty and small. She decided to step forward and further into the tomb but her wrist had been made hostage.

"Don't move" he whispered as he looked around.

Bonnie gave him an annoyed look "What? Am I supposed to just stand here?" she said after a while. He ignored her again and she tried to understand what the hell was going on since Damon was being so guarded about it.

She braced herself and bit her lip nervously; maybe they had to face the vampires that were trapped here. They had to fight for their lives and she just hoped that they would be alive by the end of it.

Damon let go of her "It's safe now but be careful"

She gave him a 'duh' expression "Why did you stop me just now? Are there vampires trapped here?" she added worried.

He sighed "I can't tell for sure; we have to go further. If these vampires have been desiccating for as long as I think they have, then they could pass for dead"

The young witch nodded "Well then, we're wasting time" but once again he held her back "Can you please stop holding me back?" she asked annoyed "I can walk on my own"

"Can you just–" he started annoyed as well "You can't go in first Bonnie. You're a walking blood bag and these vampires will drain you dry the first chance they get, so you just stand behind me and do as I say"

"You know, you don't have to be such an asshole about it. I know what we're up against here, I'm not stupid" she said with crossed arms

He sighed exasperated "I never said you were! You just tend to do very stupid things; you forget that you're very human and now you don't even have your magic anymore!"

She looked to her side visibly hurt. She was used to taking the lead and having control since she was the one with power, and that was the way the she knew how to operate. Bonnie Bennett took charge of things, and even at her lowest, that was a difficult trait to get rid of. It was weird because ever since the day they stepped foot in this place – and even before that – she'd always been hyper aware of the absence of her powers. But it was like Damon said, old habits are hard to break.

To think that now she'd be giving power to Damon nonetheless was... conflicting but necessary. When she decided to partner up with him, she figured there would be a lot of compromising she'd have to do but it didn't mean it was easy. Right now, for example, she wanted to kick him and smack him across the face for saying what he just did but what good would that bring? And now that they had a proper lead, why mess that up by having another stupid and meaningless fight? She would have her revenge, sure, but it wouldn't be something rash. She'd think about it carefully and examinate all of her options.

Trust the process Bonnie, trust it. She thought.

With a huff she said spitefully "Lead the way then"

He moved like he knew exactly where he was going, which in actuality, he did. He'd stuck Katherine in the tomb after she betrayed him and made sure he watched her as she went mad like a caged animal.

Back then, he was struggling in regards to his feelings for her. He no longer claimed that he loved her but the pull she had on him was magnetic and he could only resist so far. He wanted to see her, to taunt her and make sure she felt a fraction of his pain and suffering. He rejoiced in every amount of blood that he drank in front of her just to spite her.

But with every tasty win, there was still a part of him that just wanted her to love him, to want him as much as she wanted Stefan, and he hated it. He hated that she could still pull such feelings out of him even when he despised her wholly. She was a backstabbing whore, a lying and manipulative bitch, that's what she was and yet... he couldn't stop thinking about her.

He wanted her and she knew it, no matter how much he tried to conceal it, Katherine could always tell. He had been so weak back then, lusting after Katherine even when Elena was right there. His true love. Damn.

It was funny now how far he was from that Damon. With Elena, he never felt like the second-best choice – well at least, since becoming official but who cares about details anyway? He was hers and she was his, simple as that. He didn't have to humiliate himself and beg for her love because Elena already loved him deeply.

Granted, their journey hadn't been an easy one. They had more than just a few bumps on the road but they conquered all of them and that made their love strong. They were one and no one could ever change that. They were bonded for life.

He smirked in the dark, his back turned to the small witch. No one could see how just the mere thought of her improved his mood greatly. He would keep this to himself. He wasn't the sharing type and he wouldn't certainly start now, let alone with Bonnie.

Damon wrinkled his nose, he smelled something putrid, very cadaver-like, and immediately put his arm to the side as to stop Bonnie from walking "I can smell it. You need to be very careful now"

Her heart jumped but she remained focused anyways "How many?"

He cocked his head to the side; desiccating vampires could mask their heartbeats to attract their preys, so precision wasn't something that he could use now without going closer but still he said "One, for now. There." he took her hand and flashed her light into the stone door with a pentagram drawn on it. Bonnie gasped, she remembered it perfectly. "Do you think it'll open without your magic?"

"I don't know" she said honestly "Even when I had my magic, it wasn't enough. Not even with Grams' magic and it... it- it didn't work."

His jaw ticked; that was not the answer he wanted to hear but he wasn't a give-up kinda guy. He always had his way, not to mention that "Maybe you won't need your magic at all. This is a different reality Bon, let's be risky. We have nothing to lose"

She opened her mouth but quickly closed it. So far, there were a lot of similarities between this world and their home, but what about the disparities between them? They barely even explored that, and to be frank, Bonnie had been feeling the side effects from being here. Also, there was the Silas situation, and if that was a very real possibility, then why not try and take Damon's advice?

Bitting her lip, she nodded and slowly walked up to the door. Her slender finger traced the pentagram wholly before she finally palmed it and pushed it open. She was very nervous; she didn't know if this was going to work in any way, shape or form. To her surprise though, the door opened easily.

"Well done, Glinda" he said proudly but then took a very serious tone and looked at her straight in the eye "You have to stay here. Don't move unless I say so"

"I'm not a dog Damon" She rolled her pretty green eyes at him "I know what's at stake here but don't expect me to do nothing and stand there with my mouth open when I sense danger"

"Fine" He huffed hard "Just-Just wait for my call, alright?"

Her instinct was telling her that she should go with him but she gulped it down and tried to take one for the team "Okay" she agreed and soon he flashed further into the cave.

Bonnie tried her best to make out whatever it was that Damon was finding along the way, and figured that the lack of snarls or some type of fight, meant that everything was okay. Minutes later, her suspicious were confirmed by the vampire himself when he materialized in front of her "I was right; it's only one vampire"

She furrowed her brows "One? Are you sure?"

"Yes Bonnie, I am sure" he replied annoyed "The vampire's practically stone and if there ever was someone else here with them, well, they ran away and left the other one for dead"

"Wait, one thing at the time" she said trying to figure out what they should do next "If there's only vampire in there, it changes the whole thing because the ones back home had been trapped for a reason, but it was a whole group not just a single individual. Which, yes, I can see how your point would make sense but why? I mean–"

"–I don't know the why Bon, but what I do know is that we need to know what to do with that vampire" he interrupted "Luckily for you, I have the perfect solution"

"Of course, you do" she snickered, the corner of her lip tipping upwards.

He clapped his hands together "We take the vampire to the boarding house."

"See, I knew you'd say something crazy like that" she said shaking her head.

"Look, it's not crazy, it's genius" he said excited "We know zilch about this place but that mummy over there just might. By the looks of it, it may have been desiccating for years Bon, and that is information that we can use"

She looked back at him astonished "So you want to feed it? Remember how you were the one that said that I'm a walking blood bag?" she waved her hand ironically "Damon, no. We can't go there"

Damon licked his lips "Wait, I know this is dangerous but we have the cellars and they kept me in place when I was bitten, so it should hold that vampire"

She walked away from him with her arms crossed "Damon... I don't like it. That vampire is as good as dead and it's stuck in this tomb. We should leave it that way until we figure out our plan. You know, the one with the Emily's necklace and that bar you went to?"

He came closer to her "This is our best chance right now! We don't even know if that man will be at the bar but we have someone that can gives us information right now. Someone that we can control"

"No, Damon!" she yelled in his face "One thing is to chase a lead and a very different thing is to bring a threat to my doorstep!"

"Doorstep?! What part of 'bringing it to the manor' didn't you understand? How does that qualify as your doorstep?"

She was fuming now "What, you don't really think that this vampire will find a way to me in no time? Are you even listening to yourself?"

His grinded his molars; it was taking everything in him to not have her by the neck "We have a deal, Bennett. This is what's right and you can't see it because you're scared. Nothing's gonna happen to you, I'll make sure of that!"

She walked away from him irritated "How do you know that? And even so, I know that we have a deal, just like I know that you're not thinking straight about this! You can't just rush into things blindly Damon, that is the only reason we're out here! We need to be smart about this!"

"Damn it, Bonnie! Sometimes opportunities show themselves to us and I'll be damned if I don't get them because of you!"

She reacted by pointing her finger at him "Damon, you listen to me and you listen well, that vampire will not leave this place until I say so"

He eyed her with intensity "Why? I thought we'd established that you're not my owner Bonnie"

Her name felt dangerous when he said it like that, like it was a threat and she should run away from it. But she didn't. She stayed rooted to her spot and took in the challenge "I never wanted to be; you should be your own person. This is bigger than you or your wants Damon. I'm not risking my life for you, or to become a stupid blood bag. I'm leaving this place and you're not stopping me from doing that, so you better think what you're actually going to do here because, Damon, if that vampire leaves this tomb, I will see to it that you will end up stuck in here forever"

He remained silent so she kept going "We have a plan – it's not great, I'll admit – but it's something real. We have been waiting for this, I've been waiting for this and Lord be my witness, I'll have no problems leaving you behind if that's what it takes to be with my family again Damon." a beat "I know you want out too, so stop and think. We can find a way out – together – but you have to trust me here. I won't do it another way"

She knew it was coming but when it did, it still knocked the air out of her. She blinked fast and looked around. She didn't even realize that her hand was firmly holding his arm while she gathered herself. Bonnie would never get used to vampire speed, let alone being flashed by one. It always left her feeling dizzy and weird, like her body was still catching up with what had happened.

"I'll tell you what Bennett" he started and she suddenly became aware of their proximity. She wasted no time putting space between them "I'm giving you one week. If we haven't made any progress by then, the vampire comes to the boarding house"

Her huff was impatient, this was not a negotiation, yet Damon seemed to think he could still have his own way "Why?"

"Come on Bonnie, you know why, I literally just told you" he said getting annoyed again.

Bonnie ran her eyes all over his face; she couldn't read any emotion other than the ones she already associated with him. "No Damon, you said what you wanted to do but you're not saying why it has to be so urgent. We have other leads and we don't know what sort of annoyance this vampire will be or what kind of baggage is attached to them."

"Why do you ask so many questions?" he asked upset and walked away from her "It's like it's all you what to do! Question and nag and annoy everything to death!"

"Yeah, I do it because someone has to be the adult here Damon" her voice was calm; he wasn't expecting that.

"No, you don't. There are no rules in here. Unclench a little bit" he snarled.

She placed her hand on her hip and smirked "I know what you're doing Damon, but getting mad at me and throwing your little tantrums every time you don't get your way won't bring you closer to her any faster. Or to Stefan. And you can keep doing that or you can work with me and track this man you saw the other night because that is someone that knows you and has information about this place."

Damon stared her down. Outside, he looked calm and collected but inside he was boiling. Once again, Bonnie Freaking Bennett touched some sensible corners of his mind and he had no idea how she did it. Was he that transparent? Or worse, that pathetic?

Jesus fucking Crist, get a grip, he thought.

Look at her, all mighty and good. He wanted to snap her in two but only because he knew she was right. Damn you Bonnie. Not that he'd let her know anyway, and he was sure that she would come around and do what he wanted. He just had to be patient.

"One week Bennett or no deal"

She rolled her eyes. She knew they'd have to look into that tomb vampire at some point, but if shaking Damon's hand right now meant that the Salvatore would be cooperating, then she would take that chance.

She extended her small hand and they shook on it. Something electrifying went through them but they both seemed to ignore it. This was a strange world after all.

Bonnie cleared her throat before speaking "Now that we have that dealt with, there's another place we should go to"

"Already ahead you" he replied already making his way to his car "Get in Glinda, let's put another theory to test"

She was fastening her seatbelt when she said "Glinda? That's the best you can do?"

He shrugged "Yes Sabrina, now hush" he turned the radio on and started humming to the tune.

"Rude" Bonnie commented to herself and decided to look to her side of the window, completely missing Damon's small smirk.

This was the second time they'd been at the house since arriving to this world, yet, that eerie sensation was still the same. Even though they now knew that the house was empty, Bonnie couldn't quite escape the feeling that this time around it would be different. Maybe it was wishful thinking, or a rare moment of lunacy, but still she felt like something was going to happen.

She clutched the necklace hard and just hoped that it would be enough to grant them some sort of protection. Taking big steps towards the main entrance, she stopped for a second a took a deep breath. She hadn't told Damon but she had her own reasons to come to the old house. She needed to find a way, anyway, to ensure that she would be protected against Silas. And though, she was in a different reality, maybe The Witches shared a real bond in here, maybe they would hear her out and help her, or maybe they'd leave her alone to fight her battles.

She shook her curls. No. She had to go with an open mind. There was no way that Grams was going to send her someplace where she wouldn't be able to get some protection. She had to trust and hope that she could and would make it. Emily's necklace showing up was almost heaven-sent. The thing that she needed to give her an advantage and get closer to her goal. Maybe that was her ticket out, she couldn't ignore it or its power.

This will work, she thought.

There was no way it wouldn't and she would make sure to try and try again until it did.

Damon glanced at her, she looked in deep thought. She was probably thinking about what was to come of this next move they planned. Or maybe she was still thinking about that tomb vampire. He most certainly was.

He was still pissed because Bonnie couldn't understand just how wrong she was about that vampire and Damon couldn't wait until it all blew in her face. He knew she was too scared to admit that he was right and he was going to allow it for the time being. However, she had the nerve to call him out again and go against his orders. Nobody went against his orders and Bonnie had a habit of doing just that. It was like she liked going against him just for the fun of it.

But then again, he was sure that he could make her see his point and finally see that she was wrong. Of course, she would never admit that but he would know. Although, he was still mildly pleased because he still had some control over things. They were going to follow with the plan they came up with, and with luck, he just might see Elena again. Not only that, but Bonnie thought that she'd won this round when in actuality, things were still going his way for the most part.

She was a buttoned up little thing but he always loved a challenge and he was sure that he could sweeten her up into his pleasing. That was essential. She seemed very serious about her threat and he wouldn't forget that. If she had no qualms about leaving him behind, he had to make her think otherwise and take advantage of that now she was powerless. That was something that he'd have to think about later. There was no point in cooking up half-assed plans that only got one so far, he was going to reach the end line and there was no stopping him.

Looking at her again, he thought, let the games begin.

They marched through the front door and made their way downstairs and into the basement and immediately, the necklace flew out of Bonnie's grip and glued itself to the farthest wall.

"Woah" she said shocked "Did–Did that just happen?"

Damon squinted his eyes "Yeaah"

Bonnie walked slowly towards the piece of jewelry and analyzed the piece. Only the center of it was glued to the wall and it kept moving rapidly without leaving that one spot. Her green eyes almost touched the object as she tried to make sense of it. Her head cocked to the side; the talisman's crystals reflected in her retina caught her utmost attention. They resembled golden flocks, and they too were moving in a rapid motion. Like electrified atoms.

She was so out of it that she didn't even hear Damon speak until he was right beside her "Witchy?"

"What?" she asked a bit dazed.

"I asked if you could hear that"

"Hear what?" her eyes flocked back to the crystal. For some reason, she couldn't stop staring at it.

"The buzzing sounds. It's coming from the necklace" he said looking at how weird she was acting. She didn't reply but went even closer to the necklace, she turned her head to his direction and her left ear was almost glued to the object. Her caramel hand trapped a curl behind her hear and her eyes went big as she finally heard the sounds Damon mentioned.

"I can hear it" her voice was nothing but a whisper and she blinked a few times. "I can hear it Damon"

His lips were tightly pressed before he spoke "What do you think it means?"

The young girl listened a bit more and Damon had to move her away from the necklace by placing his hands on her shoulders and redirect her attention back to him.

"It means you were right" she said with a bright smile "The necklace still has magic inside it, this place has magic and we can find a way back" she said in one breath. "We can get out!"

Damon was kind of taken aback by her cheerful attitude given that not an hour ago they were fighting, but he had to admit that this was good news.

"So, you think the protection charm will work?"

"Yes" she said confidently "This necklace... it's like it's charged now and the full moon will give it even more power. It's going to work"

He pocketed his hands and smirked "Good. I'm more than ready to leave this place"

"Me too" she agreed excitedly.

This was amazing because it gave them a fighting chance and it meant that she was going to be able to protect herself against Silas. This was the best day she'd had since coming here.

Eyeing the talisman, he asked "What about that? Are we going to leave the necklace here, out in the open?"

Bonnie craned her neck towards it "Yeah, it'll be safer here than anywhere else. It's like it chose its home or something"

Okay but "Are you sure? Cause I don't want to walk in here tomorrow and find it missing"

"It won't" she assured "This was Emily's necklace and this is where she died, so it makes sense that it would want to stay here"

"You talk like it has feelings" he shrugged "It's just a necklace Bennett"

"Created by one of the most powerful witches in my bloodline" she corrected him "I wouldn't be surprised if it had feelings"

"To each their own" Shaking his head he said "So, since this necklace is staying, we should go. I feel like our little mission is done for now and this is a creepy house, no matter which dimension."

Bonnie licked her lips "Actually, I'm going to stay here for a little longer. You can go though"

Damon rolled his eyes "I know I can go... but why are you staying? Does it have to do with whatever's wrong with you?"

"Oh my god Damon will you let that go?" she said huffing "This has nothing to do with you"

"Oh, come on, this has everything to do with me and you know it" he came closer to her "You said no secrets"

"Yeah, but this is my thing, therefore no secret is being kept."

He was about to argue that point but decided to not do it "You know what? You stay and do your thing. At least make sure that things will go our way tomorrow night"

"Bye Damon" she added a wave and soon enough the vampire was gone.

The young woman had a swirl around the room. She still couldn't feel the magic coming from the place as she once did but now things felt different, and Emily's necklace was the proof. She was full of hope now, so much so that her skin and the tips of her fingers were tingling. She looked back and into the talisman, it was somewhat hypnotizing and she couldn't keep her eyes away from it.

The buzzing that Damon had mentioned earlier had subsided now but the item was still moving fast in its place. She concentrated and with a slender finger, she warily touched the crystal. She expected something to happen, like a zing go through her or something, so needless to say that the disappointment that came after nothing happened, was like an avalanche. Bonnie tried again and again, and nothing happened. The crystal wasn't ungluing itself from the wall and aside from the activity showing within the crystal itself, it seemed as if Bonnie's touch had no effect on it whatsoever.

Licking her lips, she walked back from it, never once breaking eye contact "There has to be a way and I'll find it" she said determined "I will"

Okay, so maybe things weren't going exactly as planned but she wasn't about to give up now. The necklace was charged and it was alive, whether Damon believed it or not. She knew it because evidence showed it clearly, and something deep inside her knew that it was alive. It had to be. She was a direct descendant of Emily Bennett, she had even been possessed by her ghost twice, so the necklace had to respond to her somehow.

Or maybe, she had to call on it and claim it.

Hmm, she thought.

That was something that could work but she would need magic for that, magic that she didn't have. Even with the power of the full moon, Bonnie wouldn't be able to conjure up enough energy to protect her and Damon and to allow her to use the crystal's power as her own.

She thought about bringing her Grimoire and read some of the words she'd written down but that was such a high risk because she didn't want to end up conjuring up some bad spirit. She had to be careful. Magic was a very fickle and fragile thing, and yet it was one of the strongest sources in the universe. She couldn't handle it lightly. She'd bring the Grimoire anyways, after all, that Grimoire belonged to Emily.

Bonnie shivered. There wasn't much she knew about her ancestor. She only knew of her history with the Salvatores and Katherine, other than that and the fact that she was really powerful, Bonnie had no idea of who Emily Bennett was.

For a long time, Bonnie had been scared shitless of the ancient witch because she'd been possessed by her, but after learning more about her role in the supernatural world, Bonnie came to understand her more and even look up to her. The fear though, that never truly went away, because as much of a good spirited witch as Emily had been, she could also be scary as hell. So far, the inventions she had created were ruthless – the supernatural device that had Mayor Lockwood, Damon and Anna trapped in that god awful basement, the tomb spell, the talisman, the Gilbert compass – just to name a few. Surely, those were weapons used against vampires for the most part, but still, they were inventions that were beyond her time, and that was the scary thing about Emily.

Maybe she grew tired of following Katherine's commands or dealing with Damon or tired of being bossed around by the resident supernaturals in town – which were very valid reasons – but whatever it was that led Emily to actually create those spells even when she had the power to say no, was something that remained a mystery to Bonnie.

She grimaced inwardly when she realized that she barely knew a thing about the women in her family besides the fact that they were witches.

With a deep sigh, she brushed her hands against her jeans and decided that she would come here and study the crystal every day. She would bring her Grimoire, her herbs and note pads and try to find a way to control the object in order to be safe. She would also try and appeal to Emily and The Witches and just hope for the best.

She glanced back one last time, she repeated "I'll find a way, I'm not giving up"

Bonnie woke up feeling replenished, as if the findings of the previous day breathed a new sense of life into her. She was hopeful now. She had a plan and a way to get out of here, she just needed to perfect it.

After leaving The Old Witches' house, Bonnie went to the Mystic Falls' public library and spent the rest of the day there looking for any information about Emily. She looked for anything remotely linked to her aunt – books, journals and such. She even looked up some articles about the Salem burning but even still, the name Emily Bennett wasn't popping up.

That, naturally, left her upset because she knew that Emily had been a crucial part of this town – at least in her reality – so why wasn't she being mentioned in the same way the Lockwood's or the Gilbert's were? According to the stories she read about her elder ancestor, Emily had helped every single member of the founding families and even the Salvatores. So why was she being overlooked? In fact, none of Bonnie's elder family members were in the public records until Grams' mother, Grams and Abby. They were the last ones directly connected to the Bennett bloodline.

She let her head fall harshly against an open book. Of course, her family's history would be overlooked. Not only were they slaves at the time, and after that history hadn't been kind to folks, but they were also magical. There's no way they'd have their records stretching back over a hundred years, showing just how much the Bennett's actually influenced this town. She knew that, she really did but it cut her deeply anyways.

What a load of crap, she thought and immediately regretted going to the library in the first place. Of course, there wouldn't be any information available when it came to her family's roots and contributions. She should go straight to the source but there was only one person she knew that could help her.

Grams.

It seemed as if no matter how much Bonnie tried to avoid it, going to Grams' house was becoming more of a necessity than a choice, because at this point, it could change everything. Unfortunately, she didn't have any other witch around that could tell her the answers that she wanted, and besides Grams, the other witches she met were either on the bad side or needed something from her.

Ugh.

She wished that she could just reach out and have someone help her but she was stuck with Damon Salvatore, who was drunk half of the time and the other half she wanted to magically seal his mouth shut. And that's when she sadly realized something. Damon was the one other person that knew Emily and could help her.

Huffing, the young Bennett finished her morning routine and exited her bathroom. Chances were, Damon had been too infatuated with Katherine to notice Emily's presence or doings around town, but still she had to give it a shot. She had to try.

Bonnie was in a good mood for the first time in a long time. Things were going to work out, she was sure. It was weird but what happened at The Witch's House gave her so much energy that she had taken her time with her morning routine. She was fixing the buttons of her long-sleeved camisole when suddenly all of the lights went out.

Turning around fast, she grabbed her Grimoire and her bag and sprinted downstairs. She was about to touch the door handle when she was sent flying across the room, landing on the floor. She wanted to scream loudly and beg for help but her jaw was wired together by force, she could only mumble and make strained noises. Her heart was giving away just how scared she was. She knew who it was before he even uttered a word. He hadn't even shown his face but she knew he wanted to taunt her. Looking around, Bonnie realized that the whole room was pitch black despite being around ten a.m. outside. There was only a dim light coming from the bathroom upstairs but even still it was very dark.

"Hello dear Bonnie. Did you miss me very much?"

She could feel his breath all over her face but still couldn't see him at all. She was still sat on the floor, her hair messy and her left knee bleeding from the fall. She felt his cold hand caress her face and she trembled so hard, she thought she'd pass out again. It was when Silas took a strand of her hair that her nerves skyrocketed.

"I love what you've done with your hair today, it's so soft and exquisite. It suits you dearly." he commented referring to her straightened hair "You know, the last time that we were together, you were extremely unpleasant, you were entitled and selfish, and nothing upsets me more than a woman that is not willing to share" he sighed and moved his hand from her hair and back to her face "Which is ironic because I hate sharing what's mine and you Bonnie Bennett, you are mine" he said each word slowly "There's no escaping me. Although I do love seeing you running around trying to find a way" he chuckled in her ear "It's cute but it has to stop now. Do you hear me?"

She nodded her head fast; her tears were rolling down her face like a cascade but still he got a hold of her chin and yelled right in her face "Do. You. Hear. ME?"

Bonnie nodded and limped a little when he made her stand up "Bonnie Bennett, you are mine and you will join me, not because I say so but because you will want to do so. I can see you, I can hear you, I can touch you" he ran his hand over her leg just to illustrate his point "I can feel you."

He then placed his hands on either side of her head and instantly Bonnie's eyes rolled back and her arms went stiff. Silas had a devious smile on his face, but it was cut short when he was sent flying out of the house. In that moment, the whole house was filled with light, just like it was before, and Bonnie was standing there in the middle of her living room feeling scared and violated. She stood there for a good half an hour before falling to the floor, overwhelmed. She felt like her lungs were made of concrete; she couldn't breathe again and things were a little blurry. The room was spinning and she was thinking . nonstop. Her hands were firmly planted on the floor as she tried to gather her bearings.

When she finally came out of it, she was still shaking but now she managed to get her bag that was on the other end of the room. She opened it and took her father's gun in her hands.

Why didn't I use it on him? Why?

She was going over the scene in her head and she was regretting not having even tried to get a bullet in that bastard. It was like she froze in the moment, not being able to do anything or speak. She just stood there and listened to him speaking to her like that. Speaking about her like that. Like she was his property or something. And the closeness of his breath, of his souless being and his cruelty was all too damaging for her. She wanted an escape; no, she desperately needed an escape.

He'd gotten to her again, he touched her again, he threatened and toyed with her again. She was tired of it! Tired of being terrified and always having him in the back of her mind. She wanted him gone even more than ever.

Storing the gun back inside the safety of her bag, she rushed out of the house not counting on how the sun burned her skin without care. The sun that she had welcomed with joy just a few hours ago when she first woke up. The clear and beautiful sky that signified the slow rebirth of her spirit. The meaning of hope that caressed her in the most beautiful of ways. Now, it burned her. Now, it made her want to crawl back into that safe hollow space that was her own proverbial cave. The darkness and humidity of it was all too familiar and dangerously comforting. She had a peek of how enticing it would be to step out of it but she also felt the cruelty of such action. She was doomed after all. There was no hope, it was pointless really.

The only thing that pushed her to get in her car and drive was the mere fact that she and Damon had a plan to get the hell out of this place and away from that devil that haunted her. Now, more than ever, she wouldn't rest until she found a way out and actually made it out because she was certain she wouldn't survive if she were to ever remain here forever.

Her entire body shook in fear and a cold shiver went down her spine. Bonnie lost control over her vehicle but she managed to get it back on track before it was too late.

You're not gonna get me again! She thought and even that sentiment felt both hollow and strong at the same time.

People do move according to their emotions and Bonnie was running on a lot of them right now. Her fear was her fuel, even if toxic and left her drained, it kept her moving forward. So much so that she sped all the way to the manor and was knocking on the door with such urgency that her knuckles ached.

As soon as he opened the door, she stormed in not even giving him a chance to get a single word out "We need to work faster. I brought the grimoire, my herbs and some candles I think. We're running out of time and we can't lose control now. We're too close to the answers we want and I–"

"Bonnie what's going–"

She ignored him and moved further into the parlor, resting her items on the sofa nearby "You said that we can't miss the chances that show up and you are right–"

He followed her with a worried gaze "Bonnie, hey–"

Again, she ignored him and went straight to his minibar in the corner "We know the necklace has power so as soon as we get that protection charm done, we're going to drive to that bar and–"

"I know but–"

"We're going to wait for that man, if he decides to show up again, but he might not do it because we don't know who he is or–"

"Bonnie!" he yelled at her to try and get her attention since she chose to ignore him.

"What he might do. We have to be prepared–"

He took her shoulders, holding her in place "Why are you bleeding?"

"Damon–" she interrupted before she stopped and looked down her small figure. Because she was wearing a skirt, her legs were showing but so was the nasty cut she had in her right knee.

So that was why it hurt to walk, she mused still feeling a bit out of it.

"Why are you bleeding? What the hell has happened to you?" he asked not amused at all. His tone was very serious and he was trying not to think about the way her blood was pouring down her leg and how he wanted to drink from her again.

She opened her mouth not too sure of what to say. She could tell him the truth but that was a weakness and she didn't want him to know that. Ironically, it was too late now to conceal the wound and her metaphorical weakness. She didn't even realize she had one until he mentioned it. Sure, it hurt to walk but maybe she was working on too much adrenaline to even bother and take a proper look at the source of her pain.

"I... ahh... fell" which was true, not all of it but it didn't matter.

She was quick to get out of his grip and take a seat in the comfortable sofa. Damon materialized in front of her with gauze, wipes, a saline solution and wipes. He went down on one knee and took her leg in his hands.

She gasped when she felt his feather like touch "What are you doing?"

Damon huffed upset "What does it look like genius?" he had to work as fast as he could because he could feel his fangs coming out again and he was positive that if Bonnie remained untreated, he would sink them in her.

Bonnie shivered again and made a move to stand up but Damon stopped her "Don't even think about it Bennett! Stay there and don't move a muscle"

Annoyed, she obeyed but only because she was feeling the adrenaline leaving her system and her body was now becoming heavier by the second.

His touch was very gentle and he was done before she even had the chance to look down and see what he was doing. He got up and disposed of the bloodied materials, leaving her alone with her thoughts in the room.

Damon was gripping the kitchen sink hard. He was sure that Bonnie didn't notice it but he knew that he had shifted. He could feel the veins under his eyes pulsing with lust and his senses were too tuned in her. Everything about her was coming straight to him like an unwanted stream and he was losing that battle.

He wanted to keep her safe from him, he didn't want to succumb to his desires and bite her but the bloodied wipes were still in his hand. He couldn't bring himself to put them in the trash, he just couldn't. His gums were practically jumping at the thought of having just one drop of her blood, just one and his mouth was watering up.

Keep it together, keep it together.

Why? Take it, it's okay.

Tentatively, he took one wipe to his nose and inhaled deeply. He shivered with the sweetness and rawness of her scent. The allure of her blood that was still fresh, virgin, and he wanted it. There was no point in fighting this already losing battle. He could still have the best of both worlds; taste her blood and actually keeping her alive.

The move from his nose to his mouth was a fast one. Methodic even. And then bliss. Pure and unadulterated bliss.

A groan left his mouth because those two drops were beyond satisfying. They were enticing and almost erotic in the way that they pleased him. He could only imagine what it would be to drink from her, to press her tight and pierce her neck. Her head would fall back and he'd take advantage of that. He'd angle himself better and make sure that there wouldn't be any spillage. He'd make it clean and worthwhile. He'd take his time with it too. Taking too much in one go always ruined the best of things and right now, Bonnie's blood was the best thing he had, he'd make sure to make every drop last.

A bird flew directly into the window in front of him making him come back down to reality. The rush of it almost left him dazed but he quickly gathered himself. Birds were creatures driven by the wind; he knew them all too well so one crashing into his window was surprising. He stared at the windows and the greenery surrounding the manor looking for what made the small animal react that way. His senses couldn't pick up anything unusual, or maybe they were still zeroing in Bonnie's pulse rate and the sound of her blood running through her body.

With a sigh, Damon looked down at the wipe still in his hand and left it on the counter. He washed his hands and cleaned them with paper towels, completely ignoring the crack in the sink's surface.

He found her still sitting on the couch sipping on his bourbon "Are you going to tell me what the hell happened or are you going to make me pull it out of you?"

She looked at him and he avoided looking into her eyes, afraid that she'd find how what he did "Nope"

"You know, being stubborn isn't a cute look anymore Bonnie. You were bleeding and all worked up. Am I supposed to let it go because you're not in the mood to share?"

She took another sip before replying "Yes, you are. I told you what happened Damon. Obsessing over it isn't going to make it any less true"

He came next to her fast "You must think that I'm one of your idiot friends Bonnie. I'm not fucking around!"

"Good for you" she shrugged "Though we do have more urgent matters to take care of, or did you miss my whole speech?"

He licked his lips frustrated and moved to his bar "You know what? Keep your little secret if you want to but next time don't come running back to me when you need help"

"When have I ever done that?" she accused less than happy with his tone.

Damon rolled his eyes "I'm not going to play your little games Witch; you know exactly what I'm talking about"

Yeah, she did know but she didn't want to tell him. At least not now. She just couldn't trust him yet and Bonnie figured that the best way to move things forward was to keep on working in their plan and make sure things worked the right way.

She sighed deeply after they fell in a tension filled silence. Damon was drinking in his corner and she was still on the couch "Thank you for taking care of my knee"

He nodded but remained silent. He knew she was hiding something from him. Actually, he was sure she had been hiding something from the start and that bothered him. They agreed to not keep secrets from each other and here she was lying straight to his face for the second time and he was getting over it. If she wanted to act like that, then so be it. He had his own skeletons in the closet and as long as they both remained on track, he would leave her alone for now. But he could feel how this was going to blow all over the both of them once whatever it was that Bonnie was keeping came out, he just knew it. For the time being, he'd play his part and help with their plan. He'd just have to do something he had never thought he'd do before – spy on Bonnie Bennett.

He was running fast. The green blurred by and he had no idea where he was going but one thing he knew for sure – he was fucking thirsty. His throat ached and his fangs pierced his gums itching to sink into something tender and warm. Right now, his mind seemed to lead him straight to one particular ex witch and he was trying hard not to. He saw something move past him, something that wasn't quite human and that had him intrigued for a slip second before–

Hey angels, here's another one. Please excuse any spelling mistakes or typos. Thank you for the reviews, follows and alerts! I feel honored.

Things are moving along plot-wise but I'm taking my time with it. Bonnie's still struggling a lot with Silas and herself. She's going through a rough time and she has some growing to do and face her fears but she'll make it. Our girl is strong like that. I personally think that she sould take advantage of the fact that she has Damon stuck with her and tell him about the Silas appearances, what do you guys think?

Also, Damon is very much enamorated with what a toxic love is. He thinks Elena was/is his redemption arc or that she made him a better man, when in fact and in my opinion, he's always been like that. hHe's just been hurt and built a steel shell around him. He's still struggling with his thirst and of course he and Bonnie clash again. They will clash a lot but good things always come out of those fights if you're paying attention.

Anyways, thank you again for all the love and see you next time!
