Elena has had enough of her bullies and wants to show them what she is made of. She wants to learn more about her powers, but it seems that Alastor has other plans that Elena isn't incredibly happy about.

Ch 13: Teach Me

(Third Person POV)

While Elena's parents were away, Charlie took the girl to school. It was fun being dropped off at school via Aunt Charlie's limo. It was funny to see the kids' faces when she would pull up. Some kids might have been intimidated that Elena knew the princess of hell herself or made fun of her more. Either way, not many people bothered her that week her parents were gone. The girl had an enjoyable time staying at the hotel with everyone. She had a lot of room to run around but she was told multiple times to not run in the halls by Aunt Vaggie.

Things were weird without her parents though, after two days she started to miss them a lot but Charlie and Vaggie always reassured the girl. Saying that they would be back by the end of the week. Even still, it reassured her but didn't help that she was missing them. She just had to wait and try to get through this week.

It was only Thursday, supposedly her parents were coming back tomorrow and Elena was excited. She woke up for school that day and managed to get dressed herself before heading out of her room and down the hallway to the lobby of the hotel. Others were down there already, especially in the kitchen making breakfast. She went and sat on one of the stools in the kitchen as she was greeted by Nifty, who usually took over for her dad cooking.

Once she sat down the cyclops was already there giving her a plate of waffles. "Morning Elena."

"Morning Aunt Nifty, you busy this morning?" Elena asked as she already took a bit of the food.

"Not really. Thursdays aren't usually that busy." She answered her and was running around the kitchen like always. "Enjoy your waffles ok. Let me know if you need anything."

Elena nodded and sat there happily eating. Soon enough Charlie walked into the kitchen and greeted both Nifty and Elena. "Morning girls. Hope we are having a good morning?"

"Morning!" Both greeted the princess.

Charlie walked up next to Elena and wrapped an arm around her. "Well today should be the last day I need to take you to school. Your mom will text me later though if anything changes."

"Thanks Aunt Charlie, I like you taking me to school but I really miss my parents." Elena said as her ears went to the side for a moment.

"I know you do honey, but don't worry they'll be back and I'll make sure to tell your mom later today when I talk with her." Charlie reassured the young hybrid.

Elena smiled and nodded. After breakfast was done, Charlie got the girl into the limo and they were off to school again. The ride was always nice in the limo, plus Elena thought it was really cool. Once at school the kids all watched as the car pulled up.

Elena got out of the limo and waved to the woman, "Thanks Aunt Charlie, I'll see you later."

"Bye Elena, have a good day." Charlie said as the girl closed the door.

The limo went off as the girl went up the steps and headed to her class. Of course, she felt someone was following her but paid them no mind. When she got to her room she was pushed aside and CJ walked in with a laugh and his small group of friends behind him. Elena luckily kept her balance and rolled her eyes as she was pushed. He has been doing this all week and it was starting to get annoying.

The hybrid tried to push it aside and went to her cubby to drop off her bag and went to her desk to get ready for the day. Lately CJ has been very physical with the girl and its starting to annoy her. He hasn't done anything crazy but it was starting to get to the point where her patience was wearing thin. Especially since she knew Sam couldn't be there all the time for her.

As Elena was setting up her stuff on her desk, CJ walked by and pushed a book off her desk with his tail. He chuckled to himself as he went around her. As she went to pick up her book, he pushed off her pencil case. "Oops." He chuckled as he sat down. "Sorry about that Gryaznaya krov. Extra clumsy today." He said with a nasty tone.

Elena just ignored him and went and picked up her items. The pencil case fell in front of the desk so she went and picked it up and then walked back around. When she went to sit down, CJ pulled her seat out from under her. This caused her to fall back and lay on the ground. CJ laughed at her.

The girl was furious now. She glared at the boy and stood up. "CJ I would ask kindly for you to stop messing with me this morning. I don't know why you want to do this today."

The hellhound rolled his eyes. "Because it's fun." He leaned forward towards her. "And I know you can't fight back. Having no powers and all that." CJ then laughed.

Her ears went to the side as she heard his words. "I'll have powers eventually and when I do I'll-"

"IF you do, that is." The hound interrupted and then huffed. "Get over yourself, daughter of the radio demon." He mocked her.

Elena's ears then went back. She didn't say anything after that. She grabbed her chair and pulled it forward to sit down. Not even looking at the Hellhound beside her as he laughed, knowing that he had won this argument. She was silent the rest of the morning and even during class. She was lost in thought, thinking of what to do. There wasn't much she could do though. She was just getting so tired of all this.

She had to talk to her parents. She needed to convince them to start teaching her how to use her powers. If she at least knew something then she could at least do something about CJ. She was tired of seeming like a weakling. She wanted to be strong. She wanted to know how to do what her dad did. She wanted to shift like her mother. She wanted to know all of this!

The girl was putting together what to say to her parents when they got home. Hopefully, they returned today like Charlie said they would.

They had to give her a chance. They had to.

Heart and Alastor were on their way to the school. They were planning to surprise their daughter by picking her up. Heart had called and spoke to Charlie around noon, telling her she didn't have to worry about getting the young girl from school. They were going to pick her up and take her home for the time being, to have some family time. Honestly, they had missed their daughter and were excited to go pick her up today.

After Heart's season had calmed down and they had time to rest after so much happening. They managed to clean the house as well that morning so that it wouldn't be a wreck nor smell too bad. It was all clean, they were all clean and dressed to head out to face hell. After a week of just being at home or being in the forest, the two were ready to head out and do something. Alastor was driving while Heart looked out the window, just enjoying the sights going by. She was still feeling tired but she knew she would be ok and could make it through the day. Charlie told her how Elena was missing them both when she called her. That is why they decided to surprise her today at school. She would love to see them again after so long.

"How do you feel today dear?" Alastor asked as he looked over to his wife. He noticed she was lost in her thoughts.

Heart's ears went up and then she looked over at the deer. "I'm ok. Just don't feel like almost a week has gone by. Plus, I miss Elena."

"I miss her to, love, but don't worry, we'll be there to see her soon." Alastor assured her as he reached over to put a hand on her leg.

"I know but I'm just excited I guess." She said with a smile.

Alastor chuckled. "I know my wolf. By the way, when do you plan to see the scientist again?" He asked.

"Next week. Monday. I told Dr. Talon I wanted to take a few days to rest up first before I had him look me over." She answered with her tail wagging.

"Sounds fair enough, petit loup. I just hope everything will turn out well." He said as he rubbed her leg.

Heart put a hand on top of his. "It will be my buck, don't worry about anything." She reassured him.

"I know love. I just…get worried." Alastor told her.

"Don't be worried honey. Everything went ok when I was pregnant with Elena. Everything will be ok this time around too. Promise. Just you see." Heart told him and leaned over and kissed his cheek.

"Then I will hold onto the promise, my love." Alastor said a little more calmly.

Soon enough the two pulled up to the school and parked the car. Just in time as well because soon after they parked, the bell rang. The kids poured out of school and the two stood by the car waiting for their daughter. They hoped she would be surprised to see them.

Elena walked out of school with Sam by her side and the two girls talked as they walked. They got to the parking lot and Sam's mom was there to pick her up. The hybrid looked around hoping to see Charlie's limo but she didn't spot it. Although, looking through the parking lot she did spot something else. Her parents.

The girl's tail wagged with excitement and she took off running towards them. "Mommy! Daddy!" She cheered. When the girl got to them, she jumped at Alastor. The deer was ready at least for this and managed to catch the girl and hold her close. He managed to keep his balance as well. "I missed you so much." She said as she nuzzled into Alastor.

"We missed you too little light." Alastor replied and held her a little tighter.

"I'm glad to see that you are doing ok Elena." Heart added as she went and hugged the both of them. "Sorry we were gone so long."

The girl pulled away from her dad a little. "It's ok. I know you guys need your alone time."

"That is true, but then we start missing you too." Heart chuckled as she went and patted the girl's head.

Elena chuckled and pulled away fully from Alastor and went to hug Heart as well. "I'm glad to have you back and we can go home. Together."

The hybrid hugged her girl in return and nodded. "I agree. We can play some games or something tonight."

Elena jumped with excitement. "Yes please! Yes please!" She said and then went over to the side of the car.

The parents chuckled at her and then went to help the girl inside the car. Once they were all in, they headed home and Elena talked about her last week of school that the parents have missed. At least nothing major happened but Heart could tell that something else was on her daughter's mind. She let it pass for now as she assumed Elena would tell her eventually.

Once they got home, they all headed inside. Luckily, they got Rufio home before going to get the girl and the hound was happy to see her again after school. As well as seeing her owners as well. They were all together, a family, so they decided to play a small board game. Elena missed her parents and was happy to see them both again. To be able to do all these things together. Elena chose the game and the two older demons set it up.

While Alastor was playing with them, he had his shadow start to make dinner. It was a good idea from all of them to stay home and have dinner so the deer didn't mind throwing something together. The only time Alastor got up was to help his shadow with something. Eventually the game ended and he got up to go to the kitchen before they started something else.

As the radio demon was in the kitchen, Elena then remembered what she wanted to ask her parents, mainly her dad. She determined it would be best to ask after dinner. When Alastor came back, he sat next to Heart on the couch and they played another game. Eventually dinner was done and the family went to the table and sat down. It was jambalaya of course, there was nothing better for the family to share.

As they ate, the young hybrid was silent and her parents knew there was something up or there was something on the girl's mind. They would let her get it out when she could and wouldn't push it. For that time, they were just enjoying each other's company.

Elena took a few bites and was nervous for a moment. After a few minutes she was almost done with her food. She got the courage and went for it. "Mom. Dad. Can I ask you something?"

"Of course, little fawn. What is on your mind?" Alastor wondered as he put his utensil down.

Elena took a deep breath, put her ears straight up and looked up at her parents with a determined face, "I was wondering if…you can start to show me…how to use my powers?" She finally asked.

The two parents across from the girl were speechless for a moment as they heard that from their daughter. Thinking of what to say to her and what would be the correct answer. They knew she would start asking sooner. Things were happening to the girl in school to where she wanted to start protecting herself. She felt she was ready, but it was up to Alastor to let her know when it was the right time. When he felt it was right.

"You're not ready." Alastor was the first to answer and picked up his utensil again to take another bite of food.

Elena went silent as her ears went to the side. Just to have her dad just say right away without much time for thought made it hurt a little. She looked to her mother for an answer as well and she looked troubled and in thought. Eventually Heart answered, "I will have to agree with your father as well. I don't think your ready pup."

"I don't understand why though?" Elena said softly. She didn't want to get mad; she was more upset than anything.

"Because I think you need to be a little older to learn your powers. To have better control over them. Plus, I know you want to protect yourself in school, but learning your powers will not help you in that." Alastor explained to her.

"That is something I will agree to as well. You are only seven Elena. You need a little more time. Plus, we haven't seen you even show signs of you having your powers come out yet." Heart added on.

"How do I know if I don't try!" The girl snapped at her parents. "If I don't try then I won't be able to do anything!"

"Elena, do not be snippy with us." Heart scolded.

"What I say goes." Alastor told her sternly as he looked at his daughter with slightly slanted eyes. "Your powers will most likely start to form naturally and when they do, then I will start teaching you."

"But that isn't fair!" Elena shouted and stood up from the table.

"Life isn't fair Elena! Welcome to hell." Alastor shouted back.

"Why did I have to be born here anyway!? If this place is so bad then why am I here!? This is the worst place in existence and you decided to have me. That doesn't sound like my fault. Makes me wish I were never born." The girl said angrily. Of course, in her anger she didn't know what she was saying.

Her words hurt her parents, Heart the most. The woman went silent, her ears went back and was now just looking blankly down at the table. Things started to just get blocked out as memories started to play in her subconscious. Voices in her head, from the past and of the small ones in her head, were repeating. She wrapped her arms around herself and then her wings wrapped around her slightly. She tried to hold back her emotions but that was failing hard. The older hybrid quickly stood up and quickly walked out of the kitchen and went up the stairs. Alastor noticed his wife's behavior but couldn't react in time to help her.

"Heart." Alastor called after her, standing from the table, but it was no use as she was already halfway up the stairs. He sighed and then slanted his eyes back to his daughter. "You, go to your room. Now!"

Elena didn't know what had happened, but her ears went back and she regretted her words after seeing her mother just run out like that. "But I-"

"No buts, now." Alastor snapped. The young hybrid did as told and got down from the kitchen seat and walked out. "I'll talk to you after I calm down your mother. If I can." He said as he pushed in the kitchen table chairs. He watched Elena walk down the hall and into her room before he went up the stairs.

Alastor went to their room but didn't see Heart at first. Right away though he heard her crying. Looking around and listening, he found her in the closet with the door shut. He walked up to the closet and slid open the door a crack. There he spotted the woman with a book in her hands, close to her chest and crying over it. He noticed it was Elena's baby book.

"My wolf." He said softly, hoping to get her attention. He went down onto the floor and opened the door a little more. "Heart I'm here." He tried to comfort her. He reached a hand out and placed it on her knee.

Heart flinched from the touch and slid away from him. She was to upset and lost in thoughts. Old memories. Old feelings. Touches she never wanted from demons who didn't care. Alastor reached again and touched her, but this time she was ready. Looking up, she saw her husband there through her blurry vision. "Alastor?"

"Yes, darling it's me." He said and rubbed her leg softly. "Please come out."

Heart shook her head and put her face down and held the book tightly. "I thought…I thought I was doing something good. For us." She cried. "It was all just selfish….That's all it is. It's not fair to them….To bring life into hell. It's not fair…it's not fair." The woman then broke down and started to sob again.

Alastor looked at his wife and felt worried right now for her. He needed to comfort her. The deer managed to squeeze into the closet next to Heart and sat down with her. Wrapping his arms around her to make sure she knew that he was there and she would be ok. "Heart don't say such things. Being born in hell I don't think she understands. She is still just a kid after all. We are having a second chance and are adults, yes, it's in hell but it's something we are happy for. We are making the best of it where we can. We want to be happy. We wanted a family and we got that."

"But at what cost?" Heart said hurt. "Miscarrying twice and then bringing someone into hell who might not even want to be here." Heart turned her gaze to Alastor. Her eyes were just filled with tears and the look of hurt was in them. "Why couldn't I have met you when I was alive? Would things have been different?"

Alastor felt bad for his wife, especially her feeling this way about things. "Heart, listen to me. I don't know if back then would have been different for you and me. It might have made it hard back then, especially with who I was." He said as he put a hand on her cheek. "Even so, we met each other down here. It was meant to be and I will think of it that way. Everything that has happened was meant to happen. Despite it being bad or good. We are here now." Heart had uncurled a little from her ball and was relaxed a little more. With this, he was able to take his hand and place it over her stomach. "Soon we will have another little one to take care of as well. Things aren't easy and they never will be. All and all though, we will be ok. No matter what."

The hybrid relaxed against the deer and just let out a small sigh. She put a hand over his as she leaned against him. She put the baby book in her lap and leaned up to kiss his cheek. "I love you, Alastor."

"I love you too, Heart." He said and kissed her lips gently. "Do you feel a little better?"

Heart nodded. "I'm sorry. I…I'm just an emotional mess right now. Between the mating season ending, the pregnancy is most likely starting and now Elena. It was just all too much for me. My emotions are just all out of whack." She sighed. "I don't know what I was thinking."

"You were just lost in your fog of emotions and being irrational." Alastor petted her head and rubbed one of her ears between his fingers. "It's ok love. I'm going to talk to Elena. I wanted to make sure you were ok first."

The woman just relaxed at the man's touch and melted for a moment. "Don't be…hard on her." She said softly.

"I will have to be at first, my wolf. You just stay here ok. Calm down and just try to relax. I don't want you overexerting yourself already." The deer said as he stood up from the floor of the closet.

Heart gave a small giggle. "I haven't even started my pregnancy or know if it even is in effect and you're already being overprotective."

"Guilty as charged my love. Can you blame me though?" He said as he fixed his clothes. "I care very much about you, Heart. You know this. I want only the best for you and our family." He smiled.

Heart managed to smile back. "Thank you, Al." She looked down at the baby book in her lap and opened it. "I think I'll be here for a little bit. You go ahead."

Alastor nodded and leaned down to give her one last kiss on top of the head before walking out of the room and downstairs to see Elena. He stood outside the girl's door and took a deep breath. He knocked before opening it and entering. When he saw inside, the girl was on her bed on the far side. Sitting there with her stuffed deer plush Owen as she looked to be upset. She looked up and saw her dad standing there in the doorway, her ears went back. She then looked back down at her bed.

The radio demon walked into his daughter's room and went to her bed to sit down. "Elena, I think you know why I'm here." He started and the young girl nodded. "You really hurt your mother's feelings, she and I only want what is best for you. To look out for you."

"I know." The girl said softly. "I didn't mean to make her upset. I don't know what I was saying. I was just mad."

Alastor reached a hand out to hold one of hers. "Your mother went through a lot of trauma before having you. Things that you won't be old enough to understand and I don't think you should know. She was pregnant twice before you. She took those awfully hard and I was there to help her past them both. Having you was the best thing to happen to us. That is why you are our little light." He says as he goes to pet her head.

Elena was silent for a moment as her dad talked. Knowing that her mom went through so much. She forgot if she was told before. Even so she was in a fit of rage and was blended by that in what she said. Never wanted to hurt anyone, especially her parents. Her mom mainly since she knew that she could be pretty sensitive on most things.

"I want to…apologize to mom." Elena said sadly.

"I think that is a good idea, my light." Alastor told her as he patted her head.

"Good thing I arrived on time then." A voice said from the door.

The two looked up and saw Heart standing in the doorway for the girl's room. The woman had a small smile on her face as she walked over to the bed. She had changed into something more comfortable. Just a shirt and shorts that she wore to bed. She looked like she had just got done crying again as her face was still a little red but she was standing there like nothing happened. Her wings were folded neatly on her back and she had her hands in the front of her.

Elena stood up from her bed and was in front of her mother. She stood there for a moment and just looked like the girl was now going to cry. Eventually she went forward and hugged the woman as she went and petted the girl's head. Elena then let the tears fall. "I'm sorry mommy, I'm sorry for what I said." She cried.

Heart looked down at the girl with sad eyes as she pets her. "It's ok Elena, I know you didn't mean to."

"But I did and I made you really sad. I don't want to do that." The girl told her.

Heart got a small smile and picked the girl up and sat down on her bed with her in her lap. "Now Elena, you were mad and when you're mad you do things that you don't mean. Say things you don't mean. You didn't know everything. I understand and I forgive you."

Elena held onto her mother tightly, crying silently as she talked. She was still mad at herself but if her mother forgave her then maybe it wouldn't be too bad. She calmed down and relaxed against the older hybrid. Her eyes closed as she felt the wave of tiredness hit her. "I love you mom."

"I love you too, my pup." Heart says softly and kisses her head then rubs her ear. "How about you rest and go to sleep for the night? You seem tired."

All the girl did was nod as she rested against her mother. Feeling calmed and comfortable as she was just covered in a blanket of security. "Can you stay with me?"

"Of course, we can. Let's get comfortable here." Heart said as she put the girl on her bed. She went and grabbed a large sleep shirt the girl liked to wear sometimes and helped her get changed. Once she was changed and back in bed, Heart got in next to her. The girl automatically got close to her mother and curled up to her chest.

Alastor watched them as they laid there and went over to kiss his wife on the forehead. "You want me to leave you two alone for a bit?"

"Maybe a little, just to get her to sleep." Heart answered softly.

The deer nodded and went to pet the girl's head. "Goodnight, my little light." He whispered then gave her a small kiss on the head before getting up and leaving the room.

Heart watched him leave and then turned back towards Elena. She wrapped an arm around the girl and played with her ears while she tried to fall asleep. Having her this close to her was surreal. It's been a long time since she had Elena like this, so close to her in her arms. She put her head close to the girls and was being a shield all around her. She even brought one of her wings over them.

"Mom." Elena whispered.

"Yes sweetie." Heart responds back in a whisper as well.

She picked her head up a little. "Thank you, for everything you do for me. You're amazing. I'm proud to have you. I feel so lucky."

The older hybrid smiled and her heart swelled with joy at her girl's words. "You're my girl Elena, my entire world. I would do anything for you." She tells her.

"Even if I have another sibling on the way?" Elena jokes.

Heart gave a small giggle at that. "Yes, even if another comes into the picture." She says and rubs the girl's back. "Now just relax and try to get to sleep."

The girl yawns. "Yes mama." She rests against Heart's chest again and the two got comfortable.

After a few minutes Elena was fast asleep and Heart just laid there playing with the girl's hair and ears. Eventually the woman fell asleep as well with the girl. It was a tiring day and Elena had school tomorrow. Alastor went to check on the two when he saw them asleep, he smiled and just kissed them both goodnight before leaving and heading to his study. Things were going to slowly start changing around here and Alastor was trying to be mentally prepared for all of it.

What is in store next for little Elena? I guess we'll find out!
