Finally escaping from all the chaos, Feliciano went on his way. In his new size, the grass was as tall as trees and the trees were….HUGE. "How on earth am I to find Mr. Roderich again if I am as small as an ant?" Feliciano asked as he walked in this miniature forest. "It is so different down here. More exciting." The whole floor of earth was filled with life as bugs strolled on their merry way, the most peculiar bugs at that. Feliciano was afraid for his safety at the beginning, but the closest contact with one of the bugs was when a bread-and-butterfly (it looks exactly as it sounds) landed on Feliciano and stared at him with its big black eyes. Feliciano giggled and patted the insect on the head before it flew off. As he got deeper in the field, he began to hear murmuring and singing, which was quite odd because his fellow insects don't talk. He soon found the source of the sound when he came near a flowerbed with many colorful and flamboyant blooms that were gossiping about any topic that flowers could think of. The flowers towered over Feliciano like tall, glorious goddesses. He couldn't recognize any of the faces on the flowers except the center of attention, a grand red rose with the face of Feliks. "Feliks as a flower," Feliciano thought. "Makes sense, sort of." He stepped up to the foliage and introduced himself.
The flowers giggled at him behind their leaf fans, but Feliks-rose quieted them down. "Now now people, we should like try to make friends with this visitor. He did have like the courage to talk to us," he made grand gestures with his stems, so he can look fabulous and polite. "Most walking flowers cower and walk away from us, intimidated by our beauty no doubt. Although, you are like much smaller than most of the walking flowers."
Feliciano blushed at his size. "Well, you see this isn't my normal size. I'm usually much taller, but things occurred today."
"What things?" Feliks-rose inquired.
Feliciano sighed, "Many curious things." He told his story from the beginning of the day to this very moment. The flowers listened intently, ready to twist it with rumors probably. Once he finished, the flowers smiled in giddiness.
"I hope you find your path," Feliks-rose said with fake concern. "Now, it's like our turn to perform for you. Shall we sing a song, friends?" All the flowers nodded their heads enthusiastically.
"Perform?" thought Feliciano. "Did they think I was just telling a story? Well, I wouldn't have believed the tale if it hadn't happened to me."
The flowers began to vocalize and warm up for their performance, resulting in a ruckus of noise. "It's been like forever since we got to perform for anyone," Feliks-rose whispered to Feliciano. "Now which song shall we like sing, friends?"
"The Marigold March!" said the three marigolds in the back.
"The Lavender Lullaby!" offered the two lavenders next to Feliciano.
"Not that old thing!" yelled Tiger Lily. "I say we do the Tiger-Lily Tango."
"Now now selfish brats," Feliks-rose said while quieting the flowers down. "We shall sing Golden Afternoon because that's about all of us." Feliciano sat on the floor and waited for the flowers to get in pitch. They flowers began by vocalizing and then sang their song.
Little bread-and-butterflies kiss
the tulips, and the sun is like a
toy balloon. There are get up in
the morning glories, in the golden
afternoon. There are dizzy daffodils
on the hillside, strings of violets
are all in tune, Tiger lilies love
the dandy lions, in the golden
afternoon, the golden afternoon.
There are dog and caterpillars and a
copper centipede, where the lazy
daisies love the very peaceful life
they lead... You can learn a lot of
things from the flowers, for especially
in the month of June. There's a wealth
of happiness and romance, all in the
golden afternoon. ... All in the golden
afternoon, the golden afternoon...
You can learn a lot of things from the
flowers, for especially in the month of
June. There's a wealth of happiness and
romance, oh...the golden afternoon!
Once the flowers finished their song, Feliciano gave them a standing ovation. "That was wonderful!" he exclaimed. "I wish I could sound as pretty as you."
"It takes practice." Feliks-rose said with pride. "Now, what kind of garden are you from?"
"Oh, I don't come from any garden." Feliciano replied.
"Do you think he's a wildflower?" a gillyflower asked.
"I'm not a wild flower." Feliciano explained. "I'm not a flower at all."
"Don't be ashamed of it," replied a tulip. "You might not be the prettiest flower, but you do have some…perks."
"Like your color," offered a lilac. "It's such a vibrant blue." It fingered with Feliciano's clothes, making him giggle when it accidently ticked him.
"Well, I don't care for him one bit," ridiculed a tiger lily. "He is much too scrawny and stubby. He doesn't even have a fragrance."
"Now, Tiger Lily we have to be like polite with our guest," said Feliks-rose. "Even though I think he just needs to grow into his charm."
"I'm eighteen years old." said Feliciano timidly.
"Call us back when you are twenty." replied the tiger lily. All the flowers began to twitter at this response, making Feliciano leave with embarrassment.
"That was very rude of them to laugh at me that way," Feliciano muttered. "I'm not even a flower, so how can they judge me?" He didn't know where he was heading now, but he wanted to be away from the humiliation. "Maybe I should find a way to get back to my normal size," he thought. "It will be a lot easier that way." He soon came across a clearing with colorful mushrooms decorating the moist soil. On one of the mushrooms sat what looked like a man in a caterpillar costume. "Maybe he can help me!" thought Feliciano eagerly and bounced over to the central mushroom.
