A/N: This idea has been rolling around in my head for a while and I finally decided to write it. It takes place in season 10 when Booth relapses

Booth quietly let himself into Brennan's hospital room, she had her back to the door and her eyes were closed. Booth walked to her bedside and touched her hand; Brennan slowly opened her eyes. "Booth?"

"Yeah…"

"What are you doing here?"

"Angela called…"

"I told her not to call you…"

"Bones, you went into labor…"

"I know. I'm glad she called you…"

"Are you okay?"

"Yes and no. My contractions have stopped, but the medications they gave me to do that have made me very nauseated, hot and has given me a headache…. I'm also tired…"

"I'm sorry Bones."

"Why? You didn't cause me to go into preterm labor."

"But if I hadn't started to gamble and if Jimmy hadn't shown up at the house wanting money you wouldn't have had to throw me out and be worried and stressed out…"

'That's true, you'd been home to drive me here instead of Angela. I don't know if the stress of your gambling and moving out caused me to go into preterm labor or if it just happened. I don't blame you. I've told you from the beginning that this pregnancy felt different than Christine's so I think we'd be here tonight even if you hadn't relapsed ."

"If that was supposed to make me feel better it didn't work…"

"I wasn't trying to make you feel better, I was merely stating facts…" Booth chuckled and smiled a little. "We're you in a meeting?"

"No, I was just leaving the parking lot when Angela called. You can ask Gavin…"

"I believe you… will you stay here tonight?…I don't want to be alone…."

"No place I'd rather be, Bones…" Booth leaned down and gently kissed Brennan's forehead. " I love you."

"I love you too, Booth."

"What happened?"

"I was waiting on Christine to get ready for bed and choose what chapter book she wanted me to start reading to her tonight when I started having contractions. I brushed the first two off, but then I realized they were seven minutes apart and something felt different. I called dad to come stay with Christine then I called Angela to come drive me. By the time I got off the phone Christine was back, I told her I was fine, but I needed to go to the hospital to check on the baby. I told her dad was going to be there soon to stay with her. I read her five pages of Ralph S. Mouse before dad got there…"

Booth chuckled a little, "of course you did."

"Why wouldn't I have? I needed to distract her…I wasn't in a lot of pain at the time…"

"I know. Try and get some rest, it'll help. Is the baby okay?"

"As of right now our son is fine, he just needs to stay where he is for the next seven and a half weeks and grow…"

"We're having a boy?"
"Yes. I know we said we didn't want to know and I normally don't look at the ultrasound, but I watched them do the one I had tonight. Our little guy isn't the least bit modest …."

Booth smiled a little and put his hand lightly on Brennan's stomach, " it's okay, Bones. Hey tiger, it's daddy, Mommy and I can't wait to meet you, but you need to stay in there and grow a little bit longer ." Brennan put her hand on top of Booth's

"Bones, everything will be fine."

" I know. Doctor Sanders said I'll probably have to go in bedrest, at least for a few weeks…"

"That wouldn't be so bad…"

" I have to take care of Christine… I have work…"

"You can work from home and Ange and Max can help with Christine …I can too…if you want…"

"I want you to…"

"Okay. We'll talk about everything later. Get some rest." Just then the nurse came in.

"How's is everything?"

"Fine."

"Good. it seams the baby is staying put, that's a very good thing. Everything else looks good too. How are your symptoms from the medications?"

"I'm still very nauseated, hot and I still have a headache…."

"I can give you meds to help with nausea and headache…"

"I don't want anything."

"If you change your mind just hit the call button." The nurse noticed Booth, "you must be dad…"

"Yeah…"

"Are you staying?"

"Yes…"

"Great. I'll be back with sheets for the fold out bed over there." Booth followed the nurse's sightline and noticed the small fold out couch in the corner.

"Thanks."

The nurse left the room and was back in a few minutes with sheets and a blanket. She handed them to Booth. "Thank you."

"You're welcome."

When the nurse left Booth turned to Brennan, "Bones, let them give you meds…"

"I'll be fine, Booth. the baby has had a hard enough night without extra medications…"

"They're safe…"

"I know, Booth, but I still don't want them… at least not right now…"

"Okay." Booth kissed Brennan's forehead. "We should name the little guy Hank, after Pops.."

"Okay. We should use your middle name…."

"Hank Joseph Booth. I like it."

"Me too. I feel a bit better now that we have a name for him.. in case.."

"Yeah…" Booth quickly made up the fold out. Then he went to the bathroom and came back with a cold cloth he placed on the back of Brennan's neck. "That feels good, thanks Booth."

Booth walked around the bed and pulled up a chair and sat down and took her hand. "You're welcome, Bones." They just sat in silence with Booth absently rubbing his thumb across Brennan's knuckles and getting Brennan cold cloths and ice chips whenever she asked for them. After a while Booth realized Brennan was asleep. He let go of her hand, she stirred. "Go back to sleep Bones. I'm just getting a blanket, I'm cold. I'll be back in a minute." Booth quickly walked around the bed and grabbed the blanket and sat down in the chair and covered himself up, taking Brennan's hand again.

B&B

A few hours later Booth woke up when he heard Brennan gasp and tighten her grip on his hand. "What's wrong, Bones?"

"My water broke and I need to push….."

"Okay." Booth hit the call button just as Brennan's doctor walked in the room. "Temperance, how are you doing?"
" My water broke and I need to push…"

"Okay. Roll onto your back for me…" Booth helped Brennan turn over and held her hand as Doctor Sanders quickly checked her out. "Your little guy is in a big hurry to meet you. Hold on for another few minutes…" Doctor Sanders quickly left the room.

"Booth, it's too soon, his lungs… they gave me steroids, but it hasn't been long enough…"

'Hank will be fine, Bones."

"I really need to push…."

"I know, just squeeze my hand…"

At that moment Doctor Sanders , followed team of nurses and neonatologists entered the room with an incubator and other life supporting equipment. The next few minutes passed in a blur while everything was set in place. Fifteen minutes later Doctor Sanders handed Hank off to the neonatologist.

"Booth, why isn't he crying?"

"Bones, just give them a minute they're working on him…"

"Booth…"

"I know…" Booth kissed Brennan's forehead at that moment Hank let out a weak cry.

Brennan started crying, "Bones, don't cry, he's gonna be okay. I love you."

"I love you too, Booth. you don't know that Hank will be okay, Booth."

"I don't, but I have enough faith for both of us that he'll be okay…"

Brennan smiled a little as Booth kissed her…

"Mr. and Mrs. Booth, I'm Doctor Warren, the neonatologist that will be taking care of your little guy-"

"His name is Hank…"

Doctor Warren nodded, Hank is a very sick little guy, but he's a fighter. We're going to take him to the N.I.C.U. to further stablelize him and run tests. We're having to help him breathe. He'll be with us until his due date. We'll bring him over so you can see him for a minute. I'll be back with an update on his condition as soon as we know more." Brennan could only nod and grip Booth's hand tighter. The nurse wheeled the incubator over and lowered the side. Booth helped Brennan sit up so she could see Hank better. "He's so small, Booth… Hi sweetheart, daddy and I love you so much…"

"He's three pounds two ounces… I know the tubes and monitors look scary, but they're not and none of it is hurting him. You can come down and see him once we get him more stable and you feel up to it. " Brennan could only nod. The nurse smiled and put the side of the incubator up and started to leave the room.

"Booth, go with him…"

"Bones…"

"I will be fine. Hank is little, he shouldn't be alone."

"Okay. I love you…"

"I love you too, Booth." Booth kissed her and caught up with Hank. On the way he saw Angela sitting in the waiting room and walked over to her. "Hey Ange."

"Booth, how's Bren?"

"Bones is okay. She had the baby about a half hour ago. I'm on my way to the N.I.C.U. Can you go wait with Bones? I didn't want to leave her alone, but she wanted me to go with Hank."

"Sure…"

"Thanks." Booth headed for the N.I.C.U. Angela quietly opened the door to Brennan's hospital room.

"Ange, what are you still doing here?"

"I got half way home after Booth got her and decided to come back… What happened?"

"I don't know. My contractions stopped before Booth got here and everything was fine. I fell asleep and woke up when my water broke and I had the urge to push… less than thirty minutes later Hank was here…" Brennan shrugged a little.

"Brennan…"

"Hank is so small, only three pounds two ounces. They were having to help him breathe. He didn't cry when he came out, it felt like it took forever for him to cry. I'm sure it was less than five minutes, but it felt like it took hours for him to cry…"

"Brennan, I don't know what to say…"

"I don't know what to say either. It feels like a dream, a bad one… Booth feels guilty, he thinks the stress of his gambling relapse and my making him leave caused me to go into preterm labor. Those two events might have played a role in it, but it could have just happened for no reason. I'm older than I was when I had Christine, that could have been a factor too. I don't like not knowing why it happened, but honestly I don't really care why it happened, all I want is for Hank to be healthy and grow so I can take him home and the four of us can be together… I don't blame Booth for this…"

"I know."

"Thank you for not listening to me and calling him anyway…"

"You're welcome, Brennan he needed to be here. He'd had my head on a platter if I'd let you go through labor and give birth without him here…"

"I don't know what that means…"

Angela laughed," it means Booth would have been very pissed off at both of us, me more than you if he'd missed Hank's birth. I took a chance waiting until I was sure his meeting was over to call him. I wouldn't have waited as long as I did if your contractions hadn't slowed down…"
