"I swear I hate mountains and caves." Mumbled a disgruntled Leaf.

This sentence was followed by a yelp that escaped her mouth when she lose her balance on a ledge only to be captured by Red who dragged her back to the upper levels of the dark cave. She then thanks him while he observes the cave in silent curiosity, checking the rocks while Clefairy, Beedrill and Vulpix are out of their balls chatting with each other. She then noticed the happy expression on his face as he looks at a group of Geodude eating some Oran Berries that he gives to them. The silent teenager was finally able to get his arm back in good condition and thanks to Leaf's dad, he was given some time to get used to the healed appendage without overusing it before the two continue their journey.

They bid their farewell to Leaf's family before going through Viridian Forest, much to Red and Beedrill's glee as they revisit its home. They also renuited with Brock at Pewter City, him being proud of the growth of the two challengers that fought him before and congratulated them for their victory at the SS. Anne tournament. After spending the night at the city, Leaf was ready to continue the journey, dragging Red to Mt. Moon as she wanted to get to Cerulean by the end of the week and also want to get a Clefairy. She was happy until...

She wasn't.

The trek along the mountain was the worse thing that Leaf had to experience in her life. It was alright at first, despite Red telling her to exercise and stretch before going up the mountain, she was moving around while looking for any sign of a certain pink fairy that only inhabits the mountain. After a few hours, she started to understand the gravity of Red's words or texts, starting to feel cramps all over her body but this did not damper her mood or determination. However all of her confidence came to naught when her body started aching, pain rubbing itself around her body as she struggles to climb over a simple ledge.

Happily, Red, being the kind soul that he is, made sure that she doesn't strain herself too much and that she's comfortable, much to the brunette's glee. 'At least I have my mysterious knight here to make me feel better.'

As they continued over a formation of rocks, Leaf getting a piggybag from her friend, Clefairy hopped off its trainer's head and ran off to another direction in the cave. The raven haired teen was about to call out for his Pokemon before she stopped him, enthusiastically jumping off his back and dragging him in the direction while she heard a beep from her Pokegear.

'Leaf, what's wrong?'

"Think about it, Red. You caught Clefairy here, right?" She receives a nod as an answer.

"And you said that you found a whole nest of the Pokemon, riiight." She receives another nod before the teen realizes what she's planning which she smiles, saying. "Exactly."

They both then chased after the pink fairy, stopping as they marvel at a group of Clefairy frolicking and playing at an open section of the mountain, basking under the moonlight, much to the glee of Leaf as she tries her best not to squeal. Seeing the huge smile on her face, Red walked forward, alerting the group who all ran up to him, greeting him.

'Greetings, hero. I see you have been well.' The elder of the group which is a Clefable said as he shares a handshake with the raven haired teen. "Thank you, sir. Same to you."

'It seems that we have an extra guest as well.' The Clefable chief said as he turns to Leaf who has a huge smile on her face and is practically shaking with excitement and glee while looking around at the nest of the Fairy Pokemon.

"It's a Clefairy paradise..." She spoke softly with sparkles in her eyes before turning to the chief who is speaking to her, a confused look on her face as she doesn't understand the Pokemon.

"He says hello and welcome to their home."

'I actually said abode.' The Chief chimed in, giving the boy a furrowed glare.

"Same difference." Red just shrugs at the evolution.

Leaf on the other hand was shocked before she spoke her mind, muttering. "Wait..."

"You can speak to Pokemon?!" She yelled, her eyes as wide as saucers and catching the attention of every Pokemon in the cave before they returned to their activities, getting a nod from Red. She then rested her hands on his shoulders, him seeing her trying to process the new information that she was provided with. Dragging him to one side of the cave, she looks at him with furrowed eyebrows before stating one word. "When?"

He then started to tell her when it started happening, not understanding himself why it activated or where it came from.

"Woah…you're like a Pokemon whisperer. That's so cool." She said before making a pose "I'm the chestnut detective and this is my sidekick, the crimson Pokemon whisperer."

"You're really into that police schtick. And how do you know that you won't be the sidekick?" Red teased, receiving a barrage of light punches as they both laughed at their antics, returning back to the group of Pokemon.

They all spent time with the Clefairy, getting dinner in the form of some sandwiches that Red was able to whip up before the journey. Leaf gushed at the group of Clefairy and taking pictures of a disgruntled Red when the pink fairies and his own Pokemon use him as a temporary bed, giggling at the groans that he made. The teens then looked up at the moon, enjoying the view while the raven haired amle of the two traces the stars while he pets Meowth and Luxio before noticing that the Fairy types are still lively despite the time of night, much to the brunette's confusion.

"Clefairy are nocturnal Pokemon. It helps some of them to grow as they get some of their energy from the moonlight." Red explained, seeing the Pokemon dancing about as they bask in the moonlight, one of the activites being a sparring tournament that Red's Clefairy is also participating in, it winning despite most of its opponent using special and long range attacks.

'You finally found your fire, Clef?' The chief thought as he watches the fight, seeing one of the fights ended with a swift punch to the face.

"Man, Red. Usually Clefairy are good at special attacks. How do you manage to raise a physically orientated one?" Leaf said while wincing at one of the Clefairy being on the receiving end of a Mega Kick, rocketing it into a wall.

'She's just asking that question now?' Luxio asked with a brow raised, looking incredulously at the brunette. Red chuckled before he answered the question, his Pokegear confiscated by Leaf.

"Strength training. Plus…Clefairy usually wears braces when he's…doing daily chores and even…during training." Upon hearing the message, the brunette's eyes widened when she remembers something, her mouth muttering her thoughts. "Is that what those bands are for?"

Shock took over her expression when she receives a nod from her red capped companion as he holds out one of them to her, upon holding it, she struggled under the weight until he picks it up back nonchalantly and puts it on the ground, leaving a wide eyed Leaf. 'That explains everything about Clefairy. Maybe I can try this for Buneary. Wait…does Red train with his Pokemon as well? Makes me want to see what inside that jacket and what he's packing.'

Her thoughts were interrupted when two of the pink fairies hop onto their laps with Red's own staying stoic while the other, who has a tied ribbon on its curl, clears her throat before speaking.

'My name is Cleffy and I want to join you on your quest to free our brethren.' Cleffy said in a formal tone to the raven haired teen before it continued. 'Plus, after what you have done against those guys in black, I was jealous that Clef here was able to go and not me.'

After saying this, she shot an envious glare at the other Pokemon as he looks away with a slight smirk on his face.

"Clef?" Red said in confusion before looking at his Clefairy. "Was that your name?"

He receives a nod from the Fairy type before he looks at Cleffy until he holds up his hand to the female Pokemon. 'I'm flattered, Cleffy but I'm not sure if I'm able to hold up to the strength that you have right now.'

Red was about to continue but he was cut off by Leaf who shoves her face to his before she says. "Can you join my team please? I always wanted a Clefairy. I'll make sure to take care of you and I promise you that we'll be the best!"

He sees the pleading and look of desperation on the brunette's face as he moves to the side to give space between them but was futile when she held him in place and rubs her cheeks with his, earning a sigh from the red capped teen when she plays with his hair with a cheeky smile on her face.

"Why don't you join Leaf's team? She's a good battler. Much better than I am. She could do well with you more than I can." The crimson eyed teenager explained, gesturing to the brunette beside that is shaking in her spot with excitement.

'If you say so. With how Clef is like, I don't want to be a bodybuilder.' Cleffy said, turning to the Pokemon in question.

'Excuse me.' Clef said while he puts back on his bracers.

'See!' She shouted to which earn a snicker from Red who she shot a glare at.

'Plus I wanna see how strong this girl is compared to you. If I'm gonna be Clef's rival, I need to choose the stronger trainer.' She said before she faces Leaf, Red gesturing her to take out a capsule which she does.

Cleffy then jumps and touches the Pokeball, making it get absorbed into the capsule which ends with a click. Words could not how she felt as she looks at the ball until she starts to tremble, hugging the capsule with a huge smile on her face.

"I...did it. I...finally did it." She said to one in particular before turning to her male companion, giving him a thumbs up that he happily returned.

'It's good to have two of our own ready to save the rest of our captured brethren.' The chief Clefable said as every Clefairy cheered the two on. Clef was conflicted, feelings that he had from when he was a Cleffa. He always wanted to travel the world and get out of the cave for as long as he remember. He doesn't even know if he will be able to come back home after he has saved everyone from Team Rocket.

'Chief, I apologize for saying this but I-i-'

'You want to join that boy on his journey, correct? You want to see what he has to offer apart from revenge for your captured brethren and famly?' The chief said in a serious tone, looking up at the stars, already knowing the answer.

'Y-yes, sir.'

'Don't fell sadness. I knew this would have happened. You never liked being cooped up here and even before the attack, you were always anxious. Wanting to fight with your fists, looking out to the sky from the cave and had a thirst of adventure.' He stated, reminiscing the times that Clef was younger. He smiled before turning to his pre evolution before stating. 'Just wherever you are in the world. Don't forget where you come from and make sure to visit us often.'

'Yes, sir!' He saluted, feeling relief. After a while, Red and Leaf fell asleep, huddled up in their sleeping bags as the pink group of fairies do their activities, being mindful not to work the pair. While the group were doing their routines, Clef went to a section of the cave, looking around and seeing various carving until he happened on a makeshift table with 'Mom, Dad. I'll swear I'll save you.'

'Red Fires...That boy has a great destiny before him that only he can endure. I hope when the time comes...' Looking at the moon, the chief Clefable pause while turning his gaze to a cave entrance right above Cerulean City. 'I hope you will be with him every step of the way, my child.'

As the sun rises above the trees, Red and Leaf exited out of Mt. Moon, saying their farewells to the cluster of pink fairies with Clef and Cleffy. The two enjoy the gentle morning breeze, Red closes his eyes as he enjoys the feeling of the wind, a smile spreading on his face while Clef walks to a familiar hill. Red noticed where it is going, following it before they were greeted with nothing, making both the teen and his Pokemon disappointed.

'I guess Ken and Ashi went somewhere else to train.' Red thought while petting a pouting Clef before marching down the hill, only to be grabbed by Leaf who wraps herself around his arm, giving him the biggest smile he has seen on her face. Making their way towards Cerulean, a simple group of words pierce through the tranquil silence of the morning, bringing the raven haired teen's attention to his female companion.

"Thank you, Red." She said, her eyes looking to the ground before she lifts her face to him. "I-I never thought I would get a Clefairy but here I am. One in a Luxury ball and I have you to thank for that."

Red simply looks the other way, not wanting to make eye contact with the girl and lowering his cap before he starts typing on his Pokegear. "I didn't do much. Just a coincidence."

"Oh, really~ You decided that we should go at night despite me wanting to go to Cerulean as quick as possible, led me at a specific section of Mt. Moon with your Clefairy. What a coincidence." She said, bringing him closer until their noses started to touch. Turning into a blushing mess worthy of his namesake, Red did not notice the brunette taking his cap before running towards Cerulean City with a grin on her face.

"And the chestnut detective strikes again! Putting the villains in their place!" She said before dashing off, her companion noticing the loss of his clothing before chasing her, both of them laughing as their Pokemon followed. Enjoying the scenery under the almost orange hue forest. Enjoying the journey as they decided to stay at the Pokemon Center. Clef and Cleffy looked back at Mt. Moon with melancholic faces before they smiled, following their trainers and their silly antics.

Phew! Done with this one. I'm happy with how this turned out. Leaf got a new Pokemon so her team is getting better now. You will be able to see Cleffy and her abilities in the future. Funnily enough, this chapter was what the first hike through Mt. Moon was originally going to be but nah. Red is also finally out of that darn cast. Gosh, it must have been annoying. Well, next chapter won't take long before it's out so that's good. We're going to see some antics, foolishness and more in Cerulean City. I hope that you all enjoy y'all selves. Stay safe! Enigma out!
