Monday arrived quicker than what Rin would have hoped, but there was nothing she could do about it. Her father had already left for work, so he wouldn't be there to wish her a first day farewell. Jaken always did that each year when she started a new grade, but unfortunately, the little man was called this morning by the CEO himself, and apparently, he was urgently needed an hour earlier than usual.

Rin knew that it wasn't his fault, but she still felt a bit betrayed regardless. She wasn't sure how long the walk would be, but she had a general idea as to where the high school was.

Sighing, the girl grabbed her jacket and backpack, slipping them on and grabbing her lunch-bag and key. Quickly, she left the apartment, making sure to lock the door behind her. The one and only time they were robbed was more than enough to keep the two on high alert about the door being locked at all times.

It didn't take long for her to reach the automatic doors of the apartment, but something that she was not expecting to be waiting for her at the entrance was a car full of teenagers. She immediately recognized Kagome who waved for her from the passenger seat, but she couldn't tell how many others were in the car as well. Her heart skipped a beat at the idea of being crammed into a vehicle with people that she didn't know.

"Rin, hop in! It's okay—these are my friends! They won't hurt you!"

Swallowing down a nervous gulp, the shorter teen meekly walked towards the car, glancing at the doors. "Um...where do I—?"

"Oh, just hop in the back with Sango and Miroku! Miroku lives here too, and we always pick him up in the morning. I told them about you, and we decided to wait here until we saw you," Kagome explained.

Rin immediately thought that that was extremely creepy of her to do. They just met a few days ago, after all.

"Geez, Kagome, you're probably scaring her to death! I mean, only stalkers wait around for little girls t—ouch!"

"Be quiet, InuYasha! So, Rin! Do you want to ride with us? It's suppose to rain today, anyway, and I would feel awful if you got wet," she smiled towards her, motioning for Rin to climb into the back seat.

Rin hesitantly smiled, "O-okay..."

She awkwardly opened the door to the car and was greeted by another girl who waved and smiled towards her, "Sango Yamikawa, nice to meet you. The idiot you have to share a complex with is my boyfriend, Miroku Kazama."

"Rin Hanasaki..."

Kagome turned around and smiled at her new friend, "The one driving is my boyfriend, InuYasha Inugami!"

"A mouthful, I know..." InuYasha mumbled out.

Rin's eyes widened, "In-Inugami?"

"Yeah, I'm sure you heard of my family. My dad is the big and bad Inu no Taisho, but he prefers to be called Toga by my friends. You'll meet him eventually."

Her head began to spin. His father was her father's boss?! They must be a group of snobby rich kids then. As soon as they were to find out that she was just a regular girl, they would surely kick her out of the group.

"Rin, are you okay?" Miroku suddenly asked.

Rin snapped out of her thoughts, allowing everyone a reassuring smile. "I-I'm fine—just a little nervous is all."

"Don't be! Everyone in the group loves you so far!"

"Tch, wait until she meets Sesshomaru..."

Rin's ears nearly perked up at the name, "Who?"

InuYasha shrugged, "He's my older half-brother. His mom's the principal of our school, so he gets away with a lot."

"He's not bad or anything. He just doesn't show a lot of emotion is all," Sango explained.

"He probably won't like me then?"

Miroku chuckled nervously, "Not necessarily. We can never tell who he actually likes. He's very hard to read."

"Extremely hard to read. Honestly, the guy hasn't been the same since our dad cheated on his mom and got my mom pregnant with me. He was only two at the time, but being told the story countless times by his mom doesn't help. Sesshomaru doesn't hate me because of it, but he has a strained relationship with our father," the half-dog informed Rin.

Rin nodded, "I see. That sounds sad—maybe he's just misunderstood."

"Maybe. I don't know—nothing I can do about it," he mumbled out.

Rin suddenly remembered that demons always chose companions to mate with for life. She wanted to ask numerous questions about the situation, but she knew better. That would be extremely rude of her. However, she could ask...

"Is Kagome your chosen companion?"

"Yes! He chose me last year when we were freshmen! I see that you're well educated on demon culture," Kagome gushed out.

Rin nodded, "I'm adopted by a demon, and he has me very educated on his culture so that it's easier for me to mingle with his family."

"Really? That's actually very interesting. Do you ever find that there are barriers between the two of you?" Sango asked, her eyebrows raised in pure curiosity.

She shook her head, "Not at all! In fact, I always forget about our differences. Papa has been my papa since I was a toddler, and I don't know any other life than with him..."

InuYasha half-smiled, "That's actually kinda cute..."

Rin blushed just as they pulled into the parking lot of the school, parking next to the other classy cars of the bunch. Everyone hopped out of the car and got their belongings situated.

"Do you need any help finding the front office?" Kagome asked the smaller girl.

She shook her head, "I'm sure than I can figure it out, but thank you."

Rin waved her new friends off as she headed towards the door. Despite the cold, a gorgeous blue flower was dancing in the slight breeze near the front doors, and she couldn't help but to pick it. She twirled her new flower in her hand as she opened the door, easily able to did the front office.

The secretary was typing away on her computer, glancing once at Rin, "Can I help you?"

"Erm, my name is Rin Hanasaki. I'm new here, and I was needing a schedule."

The middle aged woman nodded, providing a slight smile, "Give me just a moment."

After a few minutes, the secretary came back with a newly printed schedule, "Here you are, my dear. Have a great first day!"

Rin almost said, 'You too,' but luckily she caught herself and read over her new schedule:

1- Advanced Algebra II Room: 165

2- Advanced English II Room: 170

3- Creative Writing Room: 174

4- Advanced Chemistry Room: 203

5- Family Dynamics Room: 40

6- Advanced World History Room: 186

She was good at learning about the English language, but the idea of continuing the advanced form was almost nauseating. She barely made an 'A' in last year's advanced class, but perhaps she could find a tutor to help her.

The first bell rang, signaling Rin to rush to her first class. She was so focused on making it to class that she nearly ran passed a strange boy leaning against the lockers. Taking a step back, Rin glanced up at him. His snowy locks were tied back, and his golden eyes held such an intense sadness.

"A-are you okay?" she timidly asked.

"Hn...Mind your business, girl."

Rin almost turned to walk away, but something compelled her to keep going, "I-I don't mean to intrude, b-but you seem sad..."

His eyes widened for a split second before they rested into their usual state, "You wouldn't know..."

Suddenly, an idea popped into Rin's mind. Before she ended up late for class, she handed him the pretty flower that she had found right outside of the school, "For you. Flowers always cheer me up, so maybe...maybe this flower will cheer you up."

Without glancing up to see his reaction, Rin blushed and bolted for her first class.

"You're an idiot sometimes..."
