Ironic isn't it?
The earth that she controlled – well, attempted to control – was now her prison.
It denied her access to the outside world – a barrier which she hated – well that part wasn't ironic.
She had always hated the earth – it was an abnormality – that wasn't even abnormal enough to be made normal. She was at a halfway point – having the power but not being able to control it.
However that part of her life was over – and now she was at a different halfway point.
Halfway between dead and living.
Between happy and sad.
Between loved and hated.
Or so she thought.
Then that mysterious day – she woke up. The light immediately pierced her eyes as she took her first steps in life - and that's when it hit her. This was a new life – a second chance – a revival. Glancing around – she saw her chance. A high school - perfect.
And so she started thinking.
She thought she would leave behind her love, her life, and her family – The Titans. She thought she would move on to new friends and a new life.
And she did.
And then he came.
At first she was resistant – and at what she thought was her last meeting she closed the conversation.
"Things change ..."
But then he came back, and she again and again avoided his tempting offers. Now confident in her resistance – she became cocky – too cocky. And her cockiness was her downfall.
When he asked if he could take her some place, and wouldn't give specifics, she should've backed off. But she let him put the blindfold on, let him drive to some location, and let him walk her through it, finally sitting her down. She heard a clang, and then tensed up at the realization they were moving.
He took the blindfold off.
She gasped at what she saw.
The Ferris Wheel.
And what she said only scared her more.
"Terra, I know things change, and this will be the final time I see you. But I just wanted to let you know ..."
She started shaking her head, staring wide eyed at him – she was in a weak position – trapped and unable to run.
"I love you."
And now – her resistance failed. And as he turned away – glaring into the night sky, she turned him back to her and kissed him – tears came down her face.
"I love you too Beast Boy – I'm so sorry."
He kissed back, and after half an hour they unwillingly went back to the tower. To home.
And to her surprise, her teammates did not treat her with hostility and disgust, but genuine love and care. Sympathy from some, empathy from others – both leading to respect.
And she was alive.
And she was happy.
And she was loved.
The constantly moving traitor found a place to stay, and people to stay with. Ironic isn't it?
