AN: Because of some personal stuff that's happened recently, I've kind of lost the thrill of writing but am starting to pick it back up. This chapter is shorter but I hope you enjoy it.

Chapter Twenty Five – Creepy Rose Guy

25.1

Rory smiled as she stood in the doorway of the empty room of their new house. She pushed the sweat from her forehead and looked towards the window where there was more light. There were some things that she couldn't empty the room of, some pieces of furniture that required a second person for a safety lift but for the most part it was empty, this was going to be Logan's room for him to have a secluded area for himself.

Rory would have to put the furniture which hadn't arrived yet in the room when that came but she could at least mark out select areas for the things that Logan enjoyed. Traveling, reading, maybe some kind of computer gaming system. She looked around and took deep breaths in before hearing a sound behind her. She froze, her back straightening as an argument between her mother and grandmother had had echoed in her mind over how risky it was to leave your door unlocked.

"Calm down," Rory said as she placed a hand on her forehead. "You're just imagining ghosts, you're tired and…and…" she laughed as she raised an eyebrow. Thankfully she wasn't as young and innocent as she once had been or she'd have been wanting to grab Lane and suggest that they stay up late at night to do some 'ghost hunting'.

Rory took another step towards the window and put her hand on a heavy chair that she didn't even feel the power to tug out of the room with its ornateness. She had to try to think of things that were Logan without the influence of his father. Logan enjoyed art but getting the wrong piece might trigger back feelings of neglect or at least not measuring up to Huntsberger worth

"What would he like?" she asked as she tried to tug the chair backwards and then heard the footsteps quicken and a hand on her arm.

"Woah, Ace," Logan said as Rory's eyes widened seeing the blond haired stud. She opened her mouth to react but no sound came out. She smiled and Logan placed a hand on her cheek before kissing her. "Now, I'm hoping that the guy you were thinking about was me, you know," he said before gesturing to something that had been in the room before this project, "or Henry. Maybe a little more sunlight? Poor guy has been in the dark for too much of his existence."

"Of course," Rory said before laughing, "You leave me alone for too long and my affections are definitely going to drift towards Henry, he's a very…protective guy."

"Is that so?" Logan joked with another kiss. "Well, I should extend my gratitude to him for keeping you safe. So, why is this place devoid of furniture?" he asked as he looked around before shaking his head. "Ace, I don't know how I'd react if you told me you took up fencing."

"And what else do you think that Henry and I get up to, hmm?" Rory asked with a playful smile which led Logan to laugh once again. Rory took a step away from the chair and smiled when Logan had his arms around her. She looked up to him, craving his touch, his lips, him. "I didn't think that you'd be back for at least a week or two," she said and Logan let his fingers go through Rory's hair.

"They said that I should clear my head this weekend as I was getting too distracted," he said and Rory hummed. She had a feeling that was what it was going to be. Okay. She could appreciate having a weekend with him and the project could be left for a little longer so that it was a surprise. Any time with Logan was amazing.

"You are going to come back for good, right?" she asked before raising an eyebrow.

"Classic expression," he said as he kissed her forehead and then her nose and then her lips. "I'm working on getting back to the two of you as soon as possible," he said as he placed his hand very gently on Rory's belly. His smile grew as Rory held it to her skin. So, that was what he was working so hard towards and it felt amazing. "Ace, you are incredible, invincible, you really are a wonder woman."

"Well, I hope that you're more like Superman than Batman," Rory said before smiling. "I think that there's another room that needs help redesigning although I'm not sure how much we can get away with without insulting my grandmother," Rory told him and Logan hummed. He walked to the room that they had designated as their child's bedroom.

"Oh…god…" Logan said as he saw the ornate florals and the gold rimmed furniture and the elegance that would be the taste of Victorian parents. He knew that their families were into the whole cotillion thing but having such…upper class pomp and circumstance was giving him unpleasant memories.

"I'll go to Emily myself and explain that we wanted to pick out all the things for in here ourself," he said before going over to a blanket that was covered in pictures of roses and there was a picture of someone who looked similar to the Pied Piper blowing a horn. "What's the story with this guy? A relative?"

"My grandmother just wants to…help…" Rory sighed before going over to where there was a pillow that had an embroidered pattern with birds and woodland creatures on it. "This is at least somewhat cute," she said before pointing to the deer, "Although that might draw back some memories of when a deer hit me."

"Of course, those violent deer," Logan laughed playfully. "Too bad for them that they didn't carry weapons with them, that would have definitely done some damage to a Jeep," he said and Rory shook her head before seeing Logan turn his attentions once again to the creepy illustration of the man. "People must get things like this as some kind of practical joke, there really can't be a market for this."

"I think that they keep thinking about their own lost loves," Rory told him and Logan sighed.

"A common problem for the upper elite," he said and Rory batted at him playfully. "Well at least I'm not stuffy," he said before wrapping his arms around her. "Don't worry, I won't let this guy take my attention away from you."

"I'm very relieved to hear that," Rory smiled, "Let me know if that stops being the case."

Logan sighed as he looked at the woman he loves and then put the blanket down. "Did you want to discuss what kind of event you'd like me to propose to you at?" he asked and Rory hummed. Yes, that was a bigger problem that she wanted to get sorted but the idea about redesigning the room as a gift for Logan was something that she wanted more immediately.

"Actually, I think that since you're here, we can spend some time with Colin and Finn," Rory said and Logan blinked in surprise.

"Are you sure, Ace?" he asked. 'I only get to have you for three nights and you want to spend one of those three nights socializing," he said and Rory nodded. Logan kissed her. "You don't have to do that for me," he told her. Rory hummed and hugged him again.

"Do you think we should tell them that we're engaged?" Rory asked and Logan put his hand on her stomach protectively. She held it there and let his hand rub small circles there. He smiled as he came in closer to her.

"Those two, not until it's official. I love them as if they were my brothers but they cannot keep a secret," he said and Rory bit her top lip. Well, hopefully they would be able to keep one secret.

Fortunately neither Colin nor Finn had had plans for that night so when they found out that the captain was back in town, they had of course been excited for some time to celebrate with him and his lady. Rory just hoped that the conversations regarding her becoming a mother and her ambitions about her career wouldn't come up or they'd be more supportive than the last meal. However, there was nobody who was going to be able to help her with the hideaway at home idea for Logan.

Rory had told Logan that she needed to go use the restroom whilst he talked to the valet. She had done this in order to try to get some more time with Colin and Finn. She needed their help but also, she needed for them not to bring Logan into this. This was a gift for him, it was supposed to be something to welcome him home for good.

"Well, if it isn't young mother-to-be Rory Gilmore," Finn said and Rory looked at them, her cheeks a little red from how quickly she had hurried to get there to talk to them on their own.

"She's blushing, must be what they say about pregnant women," Colin commented. "Well, radiant as ever. If it wasn't for Logan then I might ask if you had any other wants from us."

"Or we could have you explain those wants to us even with Logan here," Finn said. "I'd be game."

Rory batted him in a friendly manner before looking at them both. "I need your help with something, for Logan."

"Ah, you want to know his kinks," Finn said as Rory's jaw dropped and she rolled her eyes.

Colin slapped his side jokingly, "She already knows that. That's why there happens to be a baby involved."

"Well, two if it involves Logan," Finn joked.

"I need your help setting up a gift for him," Rory said before looking at them. "A surprise. A room, I'm making him a room," she said. "I'd prefer to talk about it when he's not here but I'd love to -"

"I think that you might want to invest in a swing, my dear," Finn said as Rory's eyes widened. She was about to argue back but heard Logan approaching them. She put a finger to her lips.

Logan looked between the three of them before turning to his two close friends, "Did I just hear that you guys are swingers now?" he laughed.
