William

A Limo pulled in the driveway.

I knew it was Chuck's Limo.

Serena got out of it.

She opened the front door.

I had Serena sit on the couch.

I was examining her face.

Half of it was just burned.

"How bad is it?"

"Um... It could be worst."

"Dad."

"It's a third degree burn covering half of your face."

"What do I do?"

"I don't know if it'll heal. Just leave it open. See if that makes a difference."

"Okay."

Serena got up.

"Thank you."

"Of course."

We hugged.

She walked out.

Serena slid back in Chuck's Limo.

Bart

I had replaced my phone.

It was the same number.

The Gala was still going on.

My phone rang.

It was Lily.

I answered it.

"Hey, Sweetheart."

"I understand you're in a feud with one of my children. But involving another one?!"

"I didn't know the town car was for Serena."

"If it wasn't for Charles, she'd be dead. Thanks to you."

"If I had known it was for Serena, I never would've done it. I love Serena and Eric."

"No, you don't."

"Yes, I do."

"Because if you can't love your own son, you can not love anybody else's children."

"That's not true."

"Yes, it is, Bart. That's the real reason Serena is moving. It's not because of Daniel. And quite frankly- I don't blame her. I made the wrong decision of who to stay married to."

Chuck and Blair were talking off to the side.

He laughed.

"I'm sorry I've made you feel that way. I love you."

"No, you can't love me."

"Yes, I can."

"If you can't love your flesh and blood, you can't love me, Bart."

I looked down.

She sighed.

"Serena and me fight. We disagree about the decisions she makes half the time. Serena and me don't talk to each other for weeks on end. If that's what you need to do to realize the deep love you feel for your son, so be it. But you need to figure it out. So, we can be a family again. Like we once were."

Lily hung up.

I looked over at Chuck.

I headed over there.

"How about I cut you in for 45% of Bass Industries and we call this feud over?"

"You tried Blair and got Serena instead. You think this is gonna be over?"

"Let's make a way towards that."

"Fine."

We shook hands.

"If it weren't for Serena, you'd be dead. Just remember that."

Chuck walked out with Blair.
