New Year's Kiss

It was the first night of the New Year. Koga, Miroku, Inuyasha, Sango and Kagome were all passed out on the floor of Kagome's living room in her apartment. It had been a long night of partying, drinking and generally rowdy behaviour. Beer cans littered the floor, reflecting the sun's rays as the fiery ball rose.

Kagome's eyelids fluttered, then opened, taking in the scene around her. Getting up, she carefully picked her way between the sleeping bodies, cans and food; this wasn't going to be fun to clean up. Accidentally, her foot hit a can, making a loud metallic sound in the silent room. Sango awoke; she was a fairly light sleeper. Kagome greeted her silently and the two made their way into the kitchen.

"Ugh, I don't remember much," The raven-haired girl complained.

"I know what you mean. I just hope that pervert miroku didn't try anything. It's just like the sort of thing he'd do, taking advantage of me like that," Sango agreed grimly.

"Advantage… hm…" Noting the contemplative look on her friend's face, Sango gave a cunning smile and asked, "What's on your mind?" Kagome returned the smile with a crafty grin of her own.

"See how Inuyasha and Koga are facing each other there by the couch? I think we could have a bit of fun with some lipstick… they wouldn't remember if they really did or not…"

"Advantage indeed!" Sango's smile grew wider, an evil glint in her eye. Kagome padded lightly to her room, returning with an alluring shade of crimson lipstick.

Inuyasha groaned as he awoke. His head was killing him. He rubbed the side of his face with a groggy hand. The hand touched something slightly sticky on his cheek. Not really thinking of what it could possibly be, he let his hand continue it's journey up the side of his face, where he encountered several more sticky marks. Looking around, he caught his reflection in the side of a lamp. He froze. His face was covered in… kisses.

Wildly, he searched the room for the culprit. Then he saw something that made his blood turn to ice. In Koga's lax hand was a lipstick case. The lid was off; Inuyasha could see the colour was red. Moving his eyes to Koga's slowly awakening face, he saw his lips were painted an alluring shade of crimson. As slow as Inuyasha was, he couldn't ignore the evidence.

"No. No; it didn't happen." Koga's blue eyes flicked open at the fear in his voice, and as they adjusted, registered laughter at the sight of his rival's face. Until he noticed he was holding the lipstick bottle and tasted the makeup on his lips. The two teens stared at each other for a long moment in shock. Then they both sprang apart, yelling.

"AHHH!"

"AHH! What happened? I don't remember anything!" They then noticed Kagome and Sango standing a little further away, smiles on both their faces.

"You know what they say to the couple who share a kiss at midnight." Horrified expressions gazed back at Kagome and Sango's grinning ones.

"Good luck, you two."
