Prompto breaths out.

The day before didn't go at all how she thought it would. Not only does Noct know about Astrum but so does the king, even though he doesn't seem to believe her. That was nerve wracking but nothing bad happened. She thought for sure the king would kick her out for lying but nothing happen.

She also thought that Noct would come into the room to demand answers from her but again nothing happened. He didn't once come to check on her and she had conflicting feelings about him not showing up. She wanted to justify her actions to him but she didn't want to. She didn't want him to pop up.

Then Cor coming in helped her forget about Noct and remember what she went through at work. It took longer than she wanted to get through their questions but she answered them. She had to take breaks to calm herself. She didn't want to break down in front of these people or Astrum who sat on her lap. They were kind and understanding, letting her take her time.

When they finished it was just in time for Ignis to come back with her purse and clothes for her and Astrum. After he left to do work, leaving her and Astrum alone which she enjoyed but not fully as she wasn't in the comfort of her own home. But it was still nice, even when both Ignis and Gladio came to eat lunch with her. Then dinner.

She waved them goodbye when they left, leaving her and her baby to sleep for the night.

Now it's the morning and she's got things to do. She sits up seeing Astrum still asleep. She carefully moves to not disturb him. When off the bed she moves the pillows and blankets around so Astrum doesn't roll over and fall or suffocate. When she knows he's safe she leaves the room, but keeps the door open so she can hear when he's awake.

She gets ready for her day, taking a shower, eating breakfast which are left overs of dinner with Ignis and Gladio. Then when Astrum wakes she gets him ready for the day. Taking him a shower, getting him dress, feed him and entertaining him for a while. Then Ignis came like he promised. She kisses Astrum then says goodbye. She leaves to the bus stop, taking her time to get there. She buys a small bouquet of yellow flowers.

On the ride there she kept getting stared at, it made her anxious, she wonder if every one of them saw the news. Then she realize after getting a glimpse of herself she remembers she has bruises on her face. That must be why she's getting stared at, there might be some who are staring because of her appearance on the news, but the others are most likely staring because of her face. Like she doesn't have features already that brings unwanted attention.

It's easy to get his room number, and when she gets there she sees her boss tiredly sitting on a chair next to the hospital bed. Prompto takes a deep breath before she takes a step forward. She knocks on the door frame, her boss snaps her head towards her. She gives her boss a meek smile as greeting. "Hello Maria." she walks in showing her her hand with the flowers. "For Ronan, I don't know what flowers he likes so I got these." She hands them to her boss who takes them with a smile.

"Thank you, you're the first to visit."

"Is he okay?" Prompto asks as she follows Maria to the hospital bed.

"He's doing fine, just needs to rest." she says with a smile but Prompto can see that she's trying to hold it in. Prompt rests a hand on her shoulder, reassuring her. Maria turns around to look at the blonde. In a second she moves to hug Prompto who stands surprised then hugs her back. Tears back in her eyes.

"I'm so sorry." Prompto cries. "He's hurt because of me." she says. They both just cried as they hug each other. Maria recovers first and looks at Prompto to see how hard she's crying. She leads Prompto to sit down on the chair to let it out.

"Prompto, my beautiful sunflower, please don't blame yourself. It's not your fault." she tells the blonde, turning her head up to look down into her eyes.

"B-but if I didn't see that guy then this wouldn't have happened." she cries. Maria smiles down at her.

"Ronan would have stepped in if it were anyone else, it just so happened to be you. He loves protecting people. It's not your fault." Maria says to her kind and sweet, like she always is.

"But you seemed so sad." Prompto pointed out, Maria wiping her tears with her thumb.

"Of course I would be. Ronan is in the hospital while the diner is shut down for a while due to the incident. And once the detectives and officers are done I need to hire someone to clean up. I don't know how long that would take or if Ronan will be fine by then. Plus I was texting Gilberta earlier, she's asking what she can do about her part time job to pay bills." Prompto nods at that, she also needs to see about a new part time job. "I was talking to some of my friends, who own shops to see if they can hire some of you but only two say they are willing to hire, so only four of you girls will be able to be hired. I was hoping to help all." she explains.

"Oh, don't over work yourself." Prompto says calmed down fully now. Maria gives the blonde a large heartfelt smile.

"I'm trying not to. What do you plan to do for the rest of the day?" She asks. Then she spots the bandage on Prompto arm. "What happened to your arm?" She asks worried. Prompto looks at it then at Maria with a smile, trying to ease her worry.

"It seems I got shot, I fainted but I'm fine now. I would like to hurry and find a part time job. I don't want to wait too long. I don't have that much saved up." Prompto answers.

"Then let me give you the address to both shops that are hiring so you can go now and talk to the owners. I'll text them to know you are on your way. I'll also text the others about it." Maria pulls out a notepad and pen from her bag on the foot of the hospital bed to write it all down.

Prompto happily takes it. She might as well go job hunting now. She can't laze around and do nothing.
