He knew it was crass to just say 'what?' but his mind short circuit. He couldn't come up with the proper way to ask that. How could he?

He and her mother have been planning their engagement for years. Planning treaties and support from each other for years. At least a decade now. In the beginning it was for the good of both kingdoms against Niflheim but the problem seem to solve itself. Now Niflheim wasn't a threat. It just got out of a short civil war. But that doesn't mean they can't join forces still.

But why the change now? When Noctis is finally old enough, he was going to send a letter to her mother wondering if they can discuss more fully. An engagement party soon then the wedding in a year. That was his plan.

"I know it's sudden." She brings the king out of his daze. She moves to sit down across from him. Even Clarus stood shocked. Sudden is an understatement.

"Does your mother know?" He wonders. Luna nods first.

"She does. She was upset and told me to discuss this with you face to face."

"May I know why?" Regis asks, sadness in his voice and eyes.

"I love Noctis. I really do but as a friend, or a younger brother. If there were romantic feelings they are gone. It's not Noctis' fault, and if you or anyone want to blame someone you can blame me. Five years ago I met someone and became friends with them, with her. We got very close and three years ago we defined our relationship. I would have told you but I also saw visions about Noctis being happy with someone not me so I assumed our engagement was forgotten. At that time I saw a vision of the future, of him being happy with his kids of a wife he chose, again not me. Five months ago my lover asks me to marry her and I agreed. It wasn't until two months ago that mother learned of our engagement." Luna explains. Regis just sat there staring. He can't be mad at her. How could he?

She fell in love. She's Lunafreya. The oracle so of course she's happy with her partner. "Does your mother accept your relationship?" he wonders. He doesn't need her to answer, not with that bright smile of hers. Noctis could never get her so smile that wide. Sure they are close but they haven't seen each other in years. They care for each other but it's not romantic love.

"Not at first but she came around. Our engagement is a secret from everyone. My mother and brother want to host a large party in Tenebrae for it so it must be a secret." she tells him, her smile still on her face. Regis stares at Luna as she sat in front him smiling happily, full of love. Can Noct smile like that? It's been very long since he's been happy, and with the war mostly over he can be who he wants to be again. No chosen king nonsense. Not anymore. Plus who is he to tell Luna she cant marry the person she loves?

"Of course." Regis nods and smiles, agreeing to keep it a secret. "How do you think I should break the news to Noctis?" he questions. With how things went that morning they might have to sit down and talk. Noctis may not want to, specially if he's mad at him. Noct will be grumpy and sitting with a pout while he crosses his arms over his chest. Regis swears that boy is still a child underneath his aloof and cold stare.

"I'll talk to him. I'm staying in the city for a while. I want to talk to Noctis, meet Ignis and Gladio. And I would love to see Prompto." she smiles. Regis flinches at the name.

"You know Prompto?" he asks shocked. Luna gives him a smile.

"Of course I do. I would like to thank her more properly." Luna tells him.

"Thank her for what?" Clarus speaks up, spending most of his time just listening.

"That's a secret between us girls." she smiles. Both men just look at each other, then back at her. "If you'll excuse me. I should go and settle down. I traveled a long ways to get here." she tells them as she gets up from her seat.

"Yes. Of course." Regis and Clarus go to open the door for her. She gives them nods as she exits the room. When the door closes behind her Regis looks at Clarus. He feels drained. They both do.

Who would have thought that would happen?

Luna smiles as she hums and skips down the hallway. With that done and over with she can rest, do what she told king Regis she wants to do and enjoy that she did not accidentally start a war. Times have been tough. Almost the slightest thing starts a war between countries.

Not today.

Her smile turns Cheshire Cat like when she spots a familiar mop of black hair along with a man dressed to impress, with very light brown hair walking next to the other. Oh, how being an oracle can be so handy. She skips towards him and when she's close enough she calls for him. "Noctis." she happily calls for him. Still smiling as she watches his whole body freeze in place, allowing for her to catch up.

He slowly turn around, eyes blown wide at the sight of her. "Luna!" He practically shouts in her face. Ignis frown.

"Show some decorum." Ignis tells Noct but the young father isn't paying attention.

"What are you doing here?" he asks. Not wanting it to be what he thinks she's here for. Ignis just frowns at Noct. He wants answers and fast. The situation can get problematic quick if he's not careful.

"I had something important to discuss with your father. Since I've found you now I think I should tell you too." she says smiling, Noct couldn't help but grimace. It's his worst nightmare.

"If you don't mind I'll make some tea." Ignis tells them.

"Yes, please. I would really like that." Luna agrees.

"Let's go." Noct says dreading this. Luna just smiles.

"Why not go into the garden?" Ignis suggest. "It's getting colder with autumn around the corner." he says.

"What a wonderful idea." Luna smiles at Ignis.

"Right." Noct mutters behind the two as they walk, Ignis leading the way.

"I'm Ignis Scientia by the way." He says, would like to shake her hand formerly but that would be wrong since they are already walking.

"Nice to meet you Ignis. I'm Lunafreya Nox Fleuret, princess of Tenebre." She smiles, Noct rolls his eyes at the overly formal introductions. Why not stick to just first names, or last names. Why say the whole name, not like people will really remember anyway. Who remembers someone's name the first meeting? Ignis must have heard him roll his eyes because the advisor gives him a warning look.

They sit at a patio table, Ignis excusing himself to go get their tea. It doesn't take him long, he must have made it in between those rose bushes because they both just got comfortable enough for Noct to ask, "what's important that you wanted to talk to me about?" Ignis gave him a glare as he set down the tray in his hand.

Luna just smiles as she gracefully takes the tea cup and plate handed to her. "Whatever plans our parents had of use getting married are void. They aren't going to happen." she answers, taking a delicate drink from her cup. She smiles at both of their surprised expressions.

This is so fun, surprising people and seeing their reaction. She can't wait for the press to learn who she is marrying. It will shock everyone. She's excited for that.
