Light filtered through the sloe window in her room, pouring onto the floor as she shuffled around with a water cup in one hand and an odd contraption in the other. It looked like a makeshift ARC reactor. But different. Flatter.

She yawned, bowing her head as she placed it on her dresser, pausing for a moment before moving to leave the room. Water still in hand. Passively she entered her living room, passing the work desk and the couch and then the stairs, moving into the kitchen.

She didn't look into the sink as she poured out her water, dropping the cup into the sink as she grabbed a new mug. She staggered over to her coffee machine, pouring herself a cup of day old cold coffee, the dark liquid covering pastel ceramic. The stale smell of it was strong and she debated disposing of the brew.

Ultimately she decided to half down the newly filled mug, bringing it to half volume in one go. Shaking her head as she put the mug back down, scoffing at the pure bitterness. It was disgusting, but she didn't want to put in the effort in making it good. The creamer and sugar was on the other side of the kitchen and she didn't feel like taking it out of their respective containers. Exhausted already, this was the best option for alertness.

'One huge mouthful of terrible coffee and then the rest gets the good stuff'. The reasoning made perfect sense to a sleep deprived brain. It was quiet, too quiet for her liking truthfully. Eyes glancing to the narrow staircase that led to the basement. There wasn't much that the drone could do in its condition. Arms slightly functional and now its eyes worked. But it still was missing half of its body.

She looked away, shuffling to the other side of the room as she gathered the ingredients to make a plain cup of joe. Spoonful of sugar, some caramel creamer and stir. Its flavor was much better than before. Still stale, but much better.

Leaning up against the countertop she breathed out a sigh of content, setting the mug down but not quite letting go. Long curly black hair fell from her shoulders as she moved, leaning over the counter, feeling the early sun rays against her back. Her heavy eyes went unshielded as they peered into the light brown liquid.

She stood for a solid minute, breathing softly through her nose, Enjoying a moment to herself as she forgot what was in her basement. She had been giving her little project her all. All of her freedom expenses went out the window. Used on scrap and wires for a rogue A.I. that could probably escape to the internet if left unattended near a computer. Good thing it couldn't move freely. Sure, it could move around, but there would be scraping metal that would follow.

"Don't move".
