If you wanna get into UA, you have to be the best of the best. You have to work out every day and do everything you can to be strong. Your quirk must be mastered, your grades must be the top of the top, and your body must be trained to absolute perfection. I keep up a regular routine for all these things. I'm not much for socializing, really. My life is preparing for my great future.

I'm from the Shizuoka prefecture. The old Man and the old Hag, they work at some fashion corporation, so we're not badly off. Our house is nice, see. We don't do anything halfway. Nothing but the best.

Except my crappy middle school, of course. I have no idea how I ended up in such a lame place.

Senior year, it never seemed to end. I honestly felt like I was doing nothing but waiting for the damn entrance exam to UA to finally arrive. The entrance exam that I would be taking with Deku.

Ever since the day of the sludge villain, I…I haven't talked with Deku. He's still around. He still thinks he's gonna get to UA, somehow, but there's no point telling him off anymore.

Or you just owe him, because he saved your life from that villain, that weird voice in my head says.

He's always tired these days. Just because I'm not talking to him doesn't mean I don't notice him. He always comes to class exhausted, and often looking like he showered quickly before class. Slowly but surely - I've noticed the difference in the locker rooms, in the summer, in gym class - he's been putting on muscle. Like he's actually working out, to try and be better. Months go by and suddenly he's got strong, athletic arms. Suddenly he's sporting a defined chest and abs, like he never had before. I don't know why, but it's like he's found some kind of inner fire.

It suddenly occurs to me that I've been spending way too much time thinking about Deku's body. I need to think about something else.

It's entrance exam day and we're there. He's the only one from my school, the only other idiot who'd bother to go for UA. He looks as jumpy as always.

"Get out of my way, Deku!" I yell at him. Best get out of my way. He jumps away.

"Hey, good morning, let's both do our best!" he speed-talks at me, like w'ere friends or equals or something. I get by him as fast as possible. People are gossiping about me already ,recognizing me from the Sludge villain incident. Who cares, though, if that's what they know me from? Not important, really…
