"KATSUKI! YOUR RESULTS ARE HERE!" The old hag went shouting her loud-mouth off at me, flapping the damn envelope in my face. The tape inside was heavy - some kind of film strip. When I tore it open, All Might's face was suddenly staring me in the eye.

"I AM HERE! To tell you…"

He sure could talk too. What I got from him was that he was gonna be teaching at UA. Finally. Everything I'd ever wanted out of life, delivered straight to my doorstep. I mean, I had no doubt I'd make it in, but All Might, teaching me? Giving me the instruction, making me the top hero? It was the only thing to make it all even better.

And finally, the results - the top 10 scorers for the UA entrance exam. And one glorious sight: At the top of the list, my own name. Katsuki Bakugou. #1. 77 villain points, higher than anyone else. All Might was saying some nonsense about 'rescue' points, there was a second column for those with no points in my name, but what really mattered was my first place score. Way ahead of all those other extras, way ahead of…

#7. Izuku Midoriya. 60 rescue points.

Deku.

No. freaking way….what the hell? What was going on?

Nothing else All Might was saying even reached me. Everything seemed to snuff out. All the triumph of that #1 score, suddenly just evaporated in a puff of smoke.

7th place maybe but…only 17 points behind me. Unequivocally going to UA, somehow, some way. It wasn't possible.

it wasn't…

"This means two kids from our middle school got into UA. Two!"

The next day at school, the stupid principal and called me and that damn nerd into his office to congratulate us. US, not me. And there he was, Deku, looking just as nervous and terrified as always.

"And Midoriya's acceptance in particular is a miracle!" the man was adding, just salting up my wound.

"What goddamn trick did you use to pass the exam, you bastard?" I asked him outside, away from the teachers. "I was supposed to be the first to enter UA. Me. Alone. I told you to go someplace else!"

All of a sudden, he was grabbing my arm. With a grip damn near like steel. Nothing like he'd e ver used before. And giving me such a look.

"Someone finally acknowledged me. Told me I could become a hero! Kacchan, I've won the right. Y-you can't stop me. I'm headed to UA!"

He was borderline crying, but he was looking at me with that kinda fire he gets in his eyes when he's set his mind on something, as thought nobody in the world could ever defeat him. That terrifying little spark that always makes me wonder if he's actually a bit off his rocker. And I have no choice but to let him go…
